Basically ketchup and mustard both symbolizes two opposing ideas in the real world, and in our society you always have people trying to impose their ideas upon others. Shoving their ideas down each other's throat, casting suffering to each other and in the end both sides end up hurt. No matter which side you’re on you have your own ideals and beliefs but in this world ideas often clashes whether you like it or not . Even if you try to escape they can come to you and you have to face it head on. And finally after all the hurt, humanity never learn from its mistakes. That's basically what it's all about.

Hansol Here's my take. They act like they have the same interests and are peaceful with the other guy and only want to be friendly, but then as time goes on they show they have total control over him and only care about getting what they want (the food). And they put him through suffering to get it. But once he realizes this, he stands up for himself and actually has more power than them. So when translated to the real world, it's showing that corporations act like they're just trying to get along and make people happy but in realty they have total control and make our lives harder than they have to be because their only concern is money. I think the song is about society as a whole condemning murder, villany and crime. You're born into a world of filth but you have to rise above it in order to make anything out of yourself.

Me too. I was on a KSE Daylight dies channel today and since I got home it's been on repeat.
I'm here because of the Mike Dawes solo acoustic arrangement!!
0:42 hey that's the guy from alpha music video :3
agree
omg wtf?
Voyages You think they are like Coheed and do concept albums? I actually had that thought with Periphery 2. It has recurring themes. "Somewhere in tiiiimmmmee..."
Can't believe this song is almost 10 years old. The nostalgia hits hard
How many times do i nave to say this? PERIPHERY ISNT METALCORE, IS PROGRESSIVE METAL.
djent
Who cares?
Progressive Mustard
back burner dude there is a HUGE difference between periphery and what metacore is,is like saying metallica is death metal ._.
Cool story brobi
I would like to believe this song has a higher meaning other than just "mustard > ketchup".
+xlujanx Watch it again... Ignore the ketchup + mustard. What do you see?
+LordGorgoroth ITS PRETTY FUCKING HARD TO IGNORE
It most likely does, I just haven't looked into it yet, but I'm gonna read the lyrics and figure it out
I think the song is about society as a whole condemning murder, villany and crime. You're born into a world of filth but you have to rise above it in order to make anything out of yourself.
HoblinGoblinz I was thinking more like racism. I never thought of it like that, but that is a great point that you brought up. Yeah, I can feel that vibe, now that you mention it.
This song is sick, gives me the chills everytime. And the video, those guys are crazy ! F-ing brilliant
Even if you try to escape they can come to you and you have to face it head to head. And finally after all the hurt, humanity never learn from its mistakes. That's basically what it's all about.
Concept inspired by Mishas' diet
"ERMAHGERD, i Gt de joke, flying SAUCERRR"
One year after I first saw this and I still don't know what the fuck is going on xD
It's all a metaphor
Mark's expression @3:14 had he absolutely dying of laughter.
why won't you ever eeentertain the taste of keeethcup! it goes soo good on buuurgers aaand dogs
This video is so creative.
Guys I'm not saying this because I want attention but I just spent an hour learning the first 2-3 measures of this song (which is my favourite song ever) and I'm so happy I am able to play it, I hope every single one of you have an amazing day or night, stay positive 👍
I'm 2 years late but fuck yeah, proud of you. I recently recorded a cover of Remeber me by Currents and I get the need to share with everyone
There are only 2 types of people on this comment section:
Rofl, what is this?
This is the most beautiful thing ever
it's always the drummer
What I learned from this video: Periphery do not like ketchup.
this is a breath of fresh fucking air
This video came out like a decade ago and it still haunts my dreams
Pretty hardcore for a song about condiments.
Also, who else was brought here by Mike Dawes?
2:43 idk why but i found this part funny when they realized he wasn't in there
When I saw them in a giant mustard bottle, and then I saw the band squirting mustard on to hamburgers, I was so hoping to see a bunch of mini versions of the band members to just fly onto the burgers.
0:41 Isn't he the same guy in Alpha music video? That explains why there's that mustard ship in that video. MIND=BLOWN!
Something about this song, this album. It’s just so damn perfect. Periphery is such a good band they’ve kinda ruined music for me, their stuff is just so much better than anyone else (IMO). This song will forever hold a spot in my heart. And it’s also why I love Mrak so much❤
Only just noticed the peg on his nipple at 1:37 lost my shit xD
this is foreshadowing part of the fued of pokemon go
okay, I have lost count but I am pretty sure I have listened to this song like 50 times in a row now. I try my best to sing along but I just cant compete. love it.
The Alpha's guy in the 0:40, damm hahaha
Who else noticed the guy at 0:40 is in the alpha music video?!
Kyle Schneid Insane, right?
Kyle Schneid Don't forget the mustard ship is in it too
he is cute tho (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
+Kyle Schneid
the mustard ship's in it at the end, and his car got abducted by it. My theory? This is a sequel to Alpha.
Pikaboss periphery is quite genius in these situations.
For anyone who doesn't understand the video, here you go. Mustard represents money. They represent corporations. And the guy they're holding captive represents the masses. Get it now? Cool
bestieswithtesties That's not it at all!
Misha Mansoor Naw, Misha! Art is defined by the observer nowadays, it seems. This guy observed something deep. The meaning of it is out of your hands at this point. There's no way you were guys were simply making a fun ketchup vs. mustard video. *There's just no way*
bestieswithtesties DAE corporations r bad??
bestieswithtesties I'm pretty sure the whole point of the video was to show that Mustard containers don't hold nearly enough Mustard.
bestieswithtesties Misha. I always thought you were a hippie :).
This is the best music video I've ever seen. There is no competition.
1:01 really thought that was goin in another direction for a second there
When music stops being fun and becoming work it isn't real. be happy bands are still enjoying the life and making fun videos. They are all more talented then you keyboard warriors who play simple power chords all day. These men are all far more advanced than most musicians today. You don't like it? Your loss
This makes no fucking sense whatsoever. I love it
+Guitarrman but it did.
This was one of Vessel's favorite bands
Vessel….from Sleep Token? How do you know that? I’m just curious
What I like about Sponce is that he can sing high and still sound like a male and not whiny.
Quentin Tarantino likes this.
I do too wtf 💀💀
Gotta love it when NO ONE HIGH FIVES JAKE
Me before reading the lyrics: "To have the taste of the mustard" huh? Seems legit.
Me after reading the lyrics: "To draw the blood of the master" ohhhhh
I love how Periphery's style and the way they sound don't fit their lyrics and song themes at all. Always epic and badass sounding music with silly topics 😂.
My daughters name is Scarlet 🥺❤️
Does she like ketchup
