The swansong of the GTE era. Last Le Mans appearance for the Ford GTs, the Corvette C7R, the BMW M8 and the Porsche 911 RSR, and within a year the Aston Martin Vantage would be gone from the category as well. And now four years later, the class is on the verge of being retired altogether. We really had no idea how good we had it.
How about we remove lmp1 cars buy 137 supercars/sportcars add a new interior with a roll cage and a racing seat a wing 1 lugnut and other stuff and put them on most dangerus track in the world and race them for 24 hours...

Watching from there is really a great experience I was really luck to get a free entry as my cousin works in Aston Martin's mechanical engineer in racing devision in LeMans 😊
Alonso en route to a dream triple crown. For new people, Fernando Alonso had a dream of winning the triple crown of motorsport, Indycar, Le Mans and the F1 Title. He won F1 titles in both 2005 and 2006, Le Mans in 2019 but sadly had heartbreak in his 2017 Indy 500, finishing a lowly 29th. Still hope that Alonso shows redemption. All the best Fernando!
I remember as a teenager the Vette crushing the viper in GT. The last couple of years it has really struggled. A win at its debut will solidly its comeback!!

What’s up with the two different types of vehicles? There seems to be one group of cars which look like super cars with huge wings and the another group which looks like something designed to beat the Nurburgring lap record.
There are actually 4 classes at Le Mans. LMP1, LMP2, GTE Pro and GTE Am. They have multiple classes because it's cheaper, it provides a bigger grid and it makes the races more exciting.
When the incident happened there were some light drizzle around the track, so that chicane might have been more slippery, the LMP2 car also had moment after him.
Do those cars use power steering? Someone told me once they don't then more recently someone told me they do and I can't find an answer on Google. Anyone know?

There are esenitally 3 class: LMP1, LMP2 - prototypes GTE - GT cars (there is Pro and Am category but car wise the only difference is that in the Am class teams can only use 1 year or older GT cars.

There are no running starts since 1970 due to safety reasons, but for the formation lap the cars start like it would be a "running start".

It's the nature of the race. Le Mans has always been a multiclass event. Also those are GTE cars not GT3.
