- North Norfolk Railway's re-enactment of the Titfield Thunderbolt film - in celebration of the film's 60th anniversary. The train was hauled by 'GWR 0-4-2 No. 1450' (renumbered 1401 for the event). Also features visiting locomotives '34067 Tangmere'.
i and several others went to see a screening of the film on 25/5.23 at woodhall spa , still a good film
I now want to watch the movie again, always puts a soppy grin on my face. Memories of times gone by when people had time for each other and courtesy and manners where the norm!
That was one of my favourite movies once and I just remember just a few details now.
Well worth a nostalgic trip back in time and watch it again, a cracking old movie.
This all time classic movie represents everything that I used to love about my country. A time of innocence and simple pleasures. Now lost forever
Not "my country" in the formal sense, but I've been there and loved it. I haven't been there recently, but what I read and see makes me agree with you. So many lives are upset now by the pace of change.
Crow T. Robot if you want to see a film similar to this with the sentiments you are expressing then try and see the 1956 film called “now and forever”.
Duncan, I entirely agree with you, our country England has been totally ruined by greed, relentless pressure by developers to destroy beautiful buildings and replace them with a concrete monstrosity, my original area the West Midlands particularly Birmingham was rebuilt in the early 1960,s but had to be rebuilt again during the early 2000,s but it still resembles a architectural nightmare! The other things that have changed completely are the people! During the 1950,s when this film was made, there was respect amongst the population, not only for each other, but for the law and judiciary, and also for Parliament, but we cannot say that anymore! where and when
did it all go wrong?
It's called growing up, you were too naive to see the problems around you. Now instead of realising that it was always crap (heck the movie is about the huge railway closures that happened) you blame the march of time and random things that are nothing to do with it.
@@davidmichaels8934 that fact you have to ask when it all went wrong should clue you into the fact that there was no point it went wrong it was always like this. You never thought about it, espcially when you were a kid. Have you ever thought why is it that crime has increased (although a lot lower than the 90s and 80s) strangely when social services were increased it dropped and then went up, when they were cut again, but instead you blame it on Idk really you were quite vague.

As someone who has a vhs of the film I love to see many heritage railway going to such great lengths to recreate things from the film

Well Done to everyone involved in re-creating this Iconic movie with what's still available ( preserved ) today as it'd be difficult to do ; I loved the original movie when I 1st saw it back in the 70's & I still love it today , Many Thanks for sharing this video.

1450 that was used in this movie is still with us today!

@@TankEngine75 However 1450 was used in filming, with a second set of 1401 numbers, 1450 faced the other way to save having to turn one loco for different shots so she is just as much the star as 1401 was, just not with her proper running number
until she got primed at AVR, but re-alived at SVR
Brilliant stuff, we’ll done on organizing the runs. Terrific. Always remember my nan saying she went to the Cam valley and watched filming.

Brilliant! I did the North Norfolk Railway a few years ago- it's one of the best. What else is best are all the Ealing comedies from back then. Greetings from Canada!

Unless I'm mistaken, the locomotive in the opening picture is the "Catch me who can" which was the first public demonstration to a paying public.

Absolutely marvellous love the 2 tone whistle like the original.
It's not a two tone whistle. GWR locos had two whistles, a normal whistle and a brake whistle. The brake whistle was only used in emergencies.
Don't forget Bedford coach. Brilliant!!!!

Brilliantly done, was waiting for 1450 to have a ' dual ' with a traction engine !.Lovely Bedford OB in the right colours too.Wonderfully evocative,and helped by the fabulous score of George Alric.
Roger Coleman the composer is not Alric it is Auric, and the loco number is 1401

There are two terrific train movies, the Train with Burt Lancaster, and Titfield Thunderbolt.
Just seen 'The Train ' recently on TV ( can't remember what channel?) absolutely brilliant! Apparently the train explosions and derailments were all 'live' no models or Cgi ...last 'blockbuster to be filmed in black & white

the biggest difference is that 1401 here is so clean compared to the movie
I admire many of the GW locos as they, in my eyes, are more personal and beautiful then those of the other companies and the 14XX class of locos are simply in all its humbleness/humbelity one of the absolute stunners.

Wrong way around. Bertie and Thomas had their great race 10-20 years before the titfield thunderbolt was even thought of.
@@MilkDrinker218 that would mean they thought about it in 1933-1943. 1943 was when the three railway engines were even thought of. Thomases book didnt come out until a few years later, after the titfield thunderbolt I believe
@@Plymouth_Belvedere the Titfield thunderbolt was filmed during BR’s modernization scheme. 1401 was scrapped immediately after filming. Bertie and Thomas had their race before Thunderbolt.
@@MilkDrinker218 I stand corrected the book came out in 1946. However the modernisation plan was in 1963 afaik

why is that locomotive pulling a ger wisbech and upwell tramway passenger coach instead of a gwr autocoach?
Listen hear Mr fucking know it all, its a RE-ENACTMENT FROM A FILM, not a true to life visualization of what the 14xx's were built for. I'm surprised a rivet counter like yourself haven't picked up on the fact its pulling a brake van despite the fact its a passenger engine. Just, listen. Just because you know stuff dosent mean you have to ruin it for the rest of us.
@@intercity0461 Listen here Mr fucking overreaction to an absolutely valid question. Why do you feel the need to start having a go at someone you've never even met? It is indeed a film re-enactment and, in answer to the original question, the GER coach (or a very similar one) was used in the film. Don't really know why. (Yes I know this was 2 years ago but oh well.)
It's because a Wisbech & Upwell coach was used in the original film!

This is a GWR 14XX locomotive not the Titfield thunderbolt!!!!!!!
KEONETHEBEST 87546 it was a event and the Movie was called The titfiled thunderblot and this event was called The titfiled thunderblot too and its more to the Locomotive that was named the titfiled thunderblot not the 14xx
