This little video makes me wish Wes Anderson would act in front of the camera in his films. He acts and delivers lines very well, and his chemistry with his long term actor friends lends an air of relaxed naturality between them!
the loose improvisational feel of this gives this ad unironically gives it more energy and life than the last four shorts he did put together. perhaps Wes is going more ordered-chaos and less ordered-order with his future works?
This makes me want to see Wes' animatics a lot more now. Bob Yeoman (Wes' cinematographer) has said on a few interviews that Wes makes animatics of every one of his films down to every detail where Wes performs every line of dialogue down to every pause and overlap. Truly incredible attention to detail
@@rohangondor6250 It's basically an animated storyboard with every shot in the film. Anderson draws out the vibes, shows the blocking, and the design of the film. It's more common on animated films (he picked this up after doing Fantastic Mr. Fox) where animated filmmakers would make these anamatics to see how the animation is flowing and to find pacing, shot selection, and other details before fully animating it to save time
Oh my god, I love seeing Wes act in his own work, even if it's for an ad. He has a very humorous personality, I would love to see him someday write himself into his own movie although he probably won't, which is fine
These Wes Anderson ads are some of my favorites!! Simple, not forced, and you come away with a deep education in the said product. Bravo and Well Done!!
That's so cool to see Wes acting, I can see now why every actors line delivery is perfect in his movies, the direction has to be just as good with this acting chops!
Wes delivering, in person. You don’t always get what you paid for, fortunately this is clearly not the case. Great collaboration, excited to see what’s next :)
Unfortunately there's only one Mont Blanc and I doubt France & Italy would be happy to let you have it. Also, how would you take it and where would you put it?!

As a 40-year-old writing and pen enthusiast, I absolutely loved this commercial. The presenters are charismatic and manage to deliver educational content without coming across as snobbish. The company's history is not only engaging but also laced with humor, making it a joy to watch. The vintage-inspired furniture colors evoke a sense of nostalgia, reminding us of our grandparents-likely an inspiration for many of us to start writing. I also appreciated how well the dialogues were coordinated, adding to the charm. The moment when one of them mistakes Celsius for centigrade and mixes up the slogan was a perfect touch of lightheartedness.
😂😂 I guess I need me some Montblanc pens in my life!! Love you Wes Anderson and thank you for this refreshingly funny and inspirational ad. I need to get a journal as well... let's get writing ✍️ 🦋✨️
i thought it was a movie, anddddddd very good movie but now this video leaves an impression or footprint of Montblanc on my subconscious. they acted soooo well and the setup, it must have been difficult to shoot movies or videos like this, it requires lot of continuous and constant flow of energy both on camera and behind camera to shoot with less retake and a balanced flow of dialogue. fantastic, loved it. 10/10
@@patrickl9930 short answer yes. Every article that I write starts with a bic round stic and a five subject notebook. It takes me about 6 months to go through a single pen (yes I finish them) that then get discarded. With that pen goes the written object memory of everything that I wrote, just like the 100 billion bic pens that have been tossed before it. Yes, I want a pen that is special and that I can keep for the rest of my life. I aspire to become the best writer I can possibly be and, someday, finish writing my masterpiece of a novel. What better pen to use than the meisterstuck (masterpiece) from one of the best pen companies.
I don't know why, but I felt like the "It was a week before the solstice when little Helmut finally realized he was being hunted by a polar bear" was code for something. Would have been cool if it were. Perhaps, I am not smart enough to figure it out... or just suspicious enough to be deluded. Still! I am looking forward to his pen as I am his movies. I just hope it is affordable. Great video!
Good video! I hope Anderson does experiment with some natural dialogue like this in his next movie, it's a nice mix of his very carefully planned style with this overlapping natural dialogue. I'm a fan personally of earlier movies of his like Rushmore, or Bottle Rocket, which feature that more natural speech. I can really hear it come through in Wes' voice in this ad, he sounds to me like characters in Rushmore. Certainly a testament to his skill that his own personal voice is no longer obvious in his later works.
Marvelous, wonderful and simply superb!! Fun and inspiring. I myself prefer my black and gold Classique paired with Montblanc Limited Edition JFK and a 146 Extreme 3.0 notebook in green (boutique only) - companions for life. Happy Anniversary!!✌️❤
“Shiny and seriously funny as it could get coming directly from MB celebrating its centenary… brilliant for WA & team + can’t wait to “writes on” with such particular SEd designed by WA itself… very rare and inspiringly lifting indeed… that’s the spirit ✍️ sports 😎!
This makes for an excellent double-feature (double-ad?) with Michael Bay's FiOS commercial. Now I need one where Abrams is selling light bulbs, Lucas speaks in whole paragraphs and Spielberg keeps being talked over by his co-stars.
Was Wes Anderson referencing an actual book in his written sentence, "It was a week before the solstice when little Helmut finally realized he was being hunted by a polar bear"?
It reminded me the open sentence of Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude: “Many years later, as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buendía was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice.”
I had a Montblanc rollerball pen in the 90's. I sold it for a profit like 10 years later. I always wanted another Montblanc but it's hard to justify it since I barely handwrite anything any more.
If you had one, you would. Get a fountain pen this time, perhaps the Meisterstück 149 Origin and a journal with TRP and a smyth sewn binding; you will be inspired. I promise.
This wasn't even made for Montblanc, this is just how Wes Anderson lives in real life.
😄
crazy to know he watched and really likes Evangelion wtf
@@PASTRAMIKick It is a very powerful and well made anime series. My favorite.

He ~is~ the actors
Agreed!
He should narrate all his films! But on screen as a character like Richard Ayoade in The Rat Catcher.
This is some of the worst acting I’ve seen in a long time 😂
He was the Real Estate Agent weasel in Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Wes is the most Wes Anderson character after all
I never thought I’d repeat-watch an ad for a pen, but here we are!
also watches and leather goods!
And it is not just a pen, its Montblanc :-)
How inspiring is the fusion between Wes Anderson's personal aesthetics with the history of the pen. Perfect combination!
❤
This has all the quirkiness, intrigue, and planned randomness that I love from Wes Anderson.
This is the greatest ad I’ve ever seen
The H&M Christmas ad is even better.
Not surprised to see you here Michael! Also, I agree, it's definitely up there..
his ad for Prada is fantastic too, Castello Cavalcanti
Why is this Montblanc ad like that?
this is a deep cut

You should do a video about this ad for nebula or patreon subscribers 😁😁
Mr video essay ❤

Here hear... do it mate!!
Ummm... Best pen ad ever. Well done Wes and well done Mont Blanc -- love it 🙌
What a genius way of putting out an ad with all the textures of Wes Anderson film.
Only Wes can make such chit-chatty dialogue feel structured and timed to a tee. Awesome ad, funny people, good job Montblanc!
This feels like a pre-Disney ride video in the best way possible.
My worlds are colliding.
And I'm not even getting upset.
This is the best ad I've seen in a long time. So enjoyable to watch.
Thanks for ordering this mini film Mont Blanc! Love the small West Anderson ads/mini films

I found it tiring after half a movie.

I didn't expect to see him so comfortable in front if the camera. great stuff
I can’t believe how much I enjoyed this. Thoroughly entertained and will be watching again. The acting moments are so good.
Great to see a few minutes of Wes’ live stream
This one is right up there with his American Express commercial.
I was so sure that, this videos wasnt 3min long, almost like 30 seconds. Wes always does this.
