Woah, from 1968-1970 the Blues made the Stanley Cup Finals three years in a row, but went a combined 0-12 in them, that must have been devastating.
I'd argue what was more devastating was that they didn't get back there until 2019, and nearly moved to Saskatoon under the horrid ownership of Rolston-Purina. Yeah.
They won the cup in 2019 and it made everyone forget how largely unable they were to get over the hump.
@Wayne Holley yeah, that's true. you'd think they could've managed to win at least one game in the Finals in three years though.
It was because they were in a division with all the expansion teams. All the teams in their division were terrible and all the original 6 teams were stacked compared to them. The blues were just the best of the expansion teams and always inevitably lost to one of the original 6 teams.
@Wayne Holley
In '67 the "expansion six" were in the "west division (even though pens and flyers were geographically in the east)". I believe the nhl didn't establish the conferences until the early '70s.
and i think the coach was the great Scotty Bowman too
3:17 i thought the rangers beat the canucks- not themselves lol
Yeah I noticed that too lol
Well, they did lmao. The Rangers tried their absolute hardest to lose that series but ended up winning. From a Ranger fan

The canucks dont have stanley cup privelages
They were too powerful to be left alive
After 1967 it was 14-13 MTL over Toronto for Stanley Cups. Now it’s 24-13.
No wonder the Habs are the greatest nhl franchise
And it’s stayed that way since 1993
@@zeussierraalex They're waiting for someone else to reach 20. Not nice to run up the score.
Thanks to Harold Ballard the Leafs suffered and till this day. If the Leafs don’t win this year they will have the longest cup drought of 55 years passing the Rangers drought of 54 years
@@zibbie17 *dances in islanders jersey*
The fact that the Habs were in the final 10 years in a row (51-60) while winning 6 out of 10 is quite impressive.
The Habs were in a league of their own. Even more impressive to me than the Celtics' dynasty.
There were only a handful of teams back then

Them and the red wings dominated
Seeing the Canadians and maple leafs dominating in the 1900’s was satisfying to see

2 words Harrold Ballard. He took over in 68 and it's been a struggle since he passed but it's gotten better since, just not good enough
Buddy as a leafs fan even we can’t explain this phenomenon

That’s a good one!
I called that Rangers team ''The New York Oilers/Blackhawks''.
From 1953 to 1979 the Montreal Canadiens (Habs) won 15 of 27 Stanley 🏆 Championships! Geez! 🤩
@Lighthouse in the Storm yes it is. Idc how many teams there are. The stanley cup is still hard to win
@Lighthouse in the Storm -- There were more than six from 1967 to 1979, which the above comment also had in view.
@Lighthouse in the Storm -- Well, then, why didn't any other team back then do it as much if it was so much easier? It is what it is, so don't knock it.
Shows that the Montreal Canadiens really is one of the most successful franchises in all of sports in the world.
They won most of their championships in a six team league that had clear conflicts of interest between them.
FROM 1953 TO 1979 THE MONTREAL CANADIENS (HABS) WON 15 OF 27 STANLEY 🏆 CHAMPIONSHIPS! GEEZ!

I don't remember ever seeing the Flyers win their 2 Stanley cups because I was away in the Air Force. When I got back in 1975 it was all over. I was over at my dad's house sometime in the 1980's and mentioned that Philly hadn't won a cup since I got out of the military. He suggested that I re-enlist and go overseas again so they could win another cup or 2! Thanks dad! LOL

The Lightning just made it 2 in a row with a 4-1 win over Montreal
Fun fact, the Lightning’s first ever season was the last time Montreal won the cup, in the 28 years it took Montreal to get back Tampa won 3 cups, and made another appearance where they lost. Montreal can talk all they want about there cup wins but Tampa has been a much better team in there existence then Montreal has been in the same amount of time.

Would certainly love to see the Red Wings get back to relevance and win a few more Cups and pass the Leafs for second place. Nobody will ever catch Montreal.
As a habs fan, I'd love to see red wings at 2nd place!
As a red wings fan I love this comment I think the red wings and Canadians have had the most appearances
There was A Horton who played for the Maple Leafs. His name was Tim Horton. A little funny isn’t it.

Just like the Yankees. NOBODY CAN EVER PASS US!

So Vancouver HAS won a cup before (in 1915) and we never knew.
If it's Stanley Cups in NHL history, then it should start with the first Cup awarded after the founding of the NHL, which would be the Toronto Arenas, since the league was founded in 1917.
Trivia: The 1917-1918 Toronto NHL franchise who won the Cup officially had no nickname at the time it won the Cup. They would be named the Arenas at the beginning of the 1917-1918 season. When the NHL engraved their name on the Cup They retroactively referred to them as the "Arenas".

Me as a lifelong Sharks fan: I see why King and Ducks fans laugh at us. We’re an embarrassment of a franchise, I won’t be alive by the time Sharks win their first Stanley Cup or won’t even be a team anymore…
Try being A Leaf fan. I've been waiting my whole life.
Hey man dont say that about your team never been a shark fan or anything but its a respectable team even if it isnt the best team ever :)
wow the most succesful team hasn't won in 30 years now
From ‘44 to ‘49 it was Montreal and Toronto going back and forth lol
Well, there were like 8 teams back then.
@@shrimpflea -- So, then why didn't any of the other teams win it if it was so much easier then? Your logic isn't valid.
in 94 the Rangers played themselves apparently
Wonder how many hundred years till we see another maple leaf banner
great vid thanks
I played ice hockey for 17yrs. Me and others alike respect and love the Stanley cup. But I hate when I see stats of cup wins throughout the years and analyst's say "wow the cup wins". It was a different time, less teams, less talent, etc. Let's go off of a time period with a bigger amount of teams(more than 5 or 10) and show some stats..
It is what it is. The other teams back then had their "better" chance then to win it but didn't, so it goes both ways and in the end, means nothing. Accept it for what it is!
Arizona Needs to win a Stanley Cup.
That would be great..
2022 Colorado Avalanche and 2023 Las Vegas Golden Knights.
Red wings: beat habs twice in a row
Habs: and i took that personally
we don't talk about 2016 okay thanks

It must be pointed out that the NHL did not begin operation until the fall of 1917, with the first Cup being won in 1918 by Toronto, as we can see here. The first three Cups won in the previous years shown here (1915, 1916, 1917) were not part of NHL history, contrary to the title of the post.
But I suppose it could be altered by adding the winners since 1910 and then changing the title to read "In NHA and NHL History."
The Rangers beat the Canucks in 1994
My dad got to live through the Islanders prime time, I really want them to win the cup. But the Lightning keep denying us.
I really wanted to see islanders vs canadiens in the old barn and the bell center :(
Count your stars, kid. At least you aren't in the weird sub-wild card fringe mediocrity like you were pre-Barry Trotz.
Even if you only made it past the 1st round because the Penguins didn't have a goalie and the Bruins aged like yogurt in the Sahara... at least you don't suck?
Anybody else notice that from 1939-2021 the winning team scored 4 points? That's an impressive streak!
That is the # of games that they had won in the series...💁♂️👍🏽🏒🥅
I wish the Washington Capitals would become 2 time Stanley Cup champions
Music in the back should have been brass bonanza
