He brought entertainment and excitement to the game and South Florida, but his game had many limitations. What a good team Marino had in '99-a Top 13 Offense, a Top 5 Defense, and his backs had OVER 2,000 yds. rushing and receiving. But once again Dan stunk it up in a playoff game. Dan was playoff challenged a majority of the time. The P-F-R study shows how challenged he was.
The P-F-R study says Marino gave the Dolphins a Negative Value in 10 playoff games and a Value in the single digits in 2 others. His overall Value was a terrible NEGATIVE 156. Other more successful QB's had Values from 300 to 1,000.
Favre's Value was 302, Warner 422, Staubach 461, Aikman 527, Young 580, Elway 767, Bradshaw 903, and Montana 1,292. Again, Marino's Value was MINUS 156. This study was never updated after '08 so Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, etc., do not have full totals.
Marino was 38 years old, hobbling on one leg due to the achilles tendon tear that was never properly repaired. To top it off, in '99 he had a cervical injury to his neck that made it impossible for him to throw a ball for almost two months. He was done physically at this point.

haha couldn't believe my eyes when i saw that score dude. that's something out of NCAA lol
@@frankiesacco More specifically a top 10 team blowing out a FCS opponent and then playing backups after midway in the 3rd
I hate the Jaguars for this game been a Dolphins fan since I was a kid cannot believe this was Dan Marino’s last game my hero and a legendary QB Dolphins never built a great team around him one 1000 rusher in Marino’s career
I totally agree with you. The Dolphins as a organization didn't give Dan a great RB to go along with him.
Jimmy wanted to trade Marino after 96'. The Dolphins owner wouldn't let it hapoen, because golden boy Dan was oh so popular among the fans. This was the end result.
Turtle Marino was a leech
He brought entertainment and excitement to the game and South Florida, but his game had many limitations. He definitely wanted to do things his way, which meant throwing it 50 times a game but in the NFL at that time that was a formula for regular season success but playoff failure. Marino was 8-10 in the playoffs.
@@andrearel3703 i preffer a thousand times Mark Brunell than turtle Marino, Don Shula couldw run faster than turtle Marino
That was a glaring deficiency in his game. The only thing in sports uglier than Marino running was Bernie Kosar running.
@@andrearel3703 i think Kosar was faster than Turtle Marino
One of the craziest scores and most shocking outcomes I can ever recall.
The celebration at 40:07 after the punt block 🤣
3rd touchdown was so unprofessional on both side. You would never see this in today's NFL. Jacksonville had one hell of a team that season, great defense especially, Kevin Hardy and Carnell Lake had an elite season.
I felt bad for Dan Marino, but LOVED seeing Jimmy Johnson get demolished.
Are you a bills fan?
@@josecarranza7555 Nope.

Felt bad for Jimmy but loved seeing the most overrated QB in history get demolished!

It’s still wild to me seeing fathers of nfl players playing
Tom brady must be smiling right now knowing "at least I didn't go out that badly"
Go Jags 🐆🐆🐆🐆
2005 Redskins @ Eagles Week 17 please ‼️‼️‼️ can’t find this game anywhere
2005 Redskins @ Eagles Week 17 ‼️can’t find this game anywhere
The pathetic Dolphins were ripped SEVERAL new assholes in this game..lmao loved it.
The Blow out and END of Dan Marino!
Dolphins did made the playoffs in 2000, beat the Colts in overtime before losing to the Raiders. Jaguars didn't get to the postseason until the 2005 season.
True, but 2000 was Miami's last playoff win to date and Jacksonville has had quite a few more since 2005
@@tokyoticcat4346 jaguars did make the playoffs in 2007: beat the Steelers before losing to patriots. 10 years later, they made an remarkable run to the AFC championship game
this has gotta be the worst first 18 minutes of a football game any team has played in nfl history. its truly unbelievable how bad the dolphins were. 38-0 before marino completed his first pass!!! how is that possible??
is only possible if you have a Turtle Marino in your team

Great Jaguars uniforms.
Mark Brunell
I’d argue he’s the best leftie quarterback that didn’t win a Super Bowl.
Stabler
Young
Brunell
He was the backup for Drew Brees in 2009.
Heartbreak as a lifelong Dolphins fan . This was so pathetic and sad.. with that said . How awesome was the field in the playoffs back then..I remember Miami had navy blue end zones in the playoff game the year before vs buffalo.. so much more creative back then
Current Jags QB Trevor Lawrence was around 3 months old when this game was played.
Miami would sign Fielder to replace Marino
12:46 Noticed the horsecollar against Jimmy Smith. This was not actually a foul until 2005 after a series of major injuries in 2004.
Worst farewell game ever bro
I’m pretty sure this was the only game Marino played in the 2000s
Nvm, this team somehow won a playoff game
Plus the last game of the regular season, so three total.
Jay Fiedler went to the Dolphins the next year 😂 I remember him as a Dolphin but I didn’t know/forgot he was with other teams.
I was 10 when this game happened.
The ran them off the field but the following week, the titans did them in.
Yeah, Jacksonville should have kept back about 31 of those points for the championship game.
Yeah..probably because they were the better team, dipshit lmao. Not that hard to figure out.
Who's here after Dolphins blew out the Broncos 20-70
At least before Halftime it was not a shut-out by the Jaguars the score was 41-7 Jacksonville
Big Ben (2021)
Jaguars only won the division once since 1999
Jags have more playoff wins than the Dolphins since 1999 too. It's safe to say the Dolphins never recovered from this game.
And..?? lol dumbass.
Jaguars were 2017 AFC South Campions 🤦♂️wasn't even that long ago
Bmb Lafamilia yes 2017 was the only time in 22 years
@@zachrizzo6525 wrong again, doesDavid Garrard, Byron Leftwich, MJD,Fred Taylor not exist 😖🤦♂️, the Jags were 12-4 loss to NE in AFC wildcard in 05
9-7 in 04 winning season No playoff tho.
11-5 in 07, Divisional playoff loss to 16-0 NE
Brush up on your history, if you're young that's cool, but you're wrong with your 22 year drought assessment
As a long Time Viewer of Football I have noticed if Coaches (Jimmy Johnson ) and or Veteran QB,s (Dan Marino) stay to long in the League Your career will usually End Badly .
Actually I now know that the study was done from '67 through '06 so Starr, Unitas, and a few others do not have full totals either.
Marino was 38 years old, hobbling on one leg due to the achilles tendon tear that was never properly repaired. To top it off, in '99 he had a cervical injury to his neck that made it impossible for him to throw a ball for almost two months. He was done physically at this point.
@@dennismumford6108 Look at the teams around those qb's and that those qb's were still playing in their physical prime.
