The brush and nail clippers duo really works for me. A little brush on the head, my cat relaxes, I take her paw, clip clip. When I feel she's annoyed, I brush again and we stay friends that way 🥰
Hi ❤️ just wanted to say I love that you rescued these three babies from the streets! That’s amazing. I foster kittens and I’m an animal science pre vet student. I think your cats were just strays because cats who are feral don’t allow themselves to be touched. Either way they look super happy and healthy ❤️ love your channel
A really simple but effective tip my vet told me: Fill your cat's water bowl as close to the top of the bowl as you can. This is especially great if you have a nervous cat (like mine), because it means they can have a drink without having to put their head into the bowl, which can block their vision and make them feel like they're vulnerable - I'd never thought of it like that until it was pointed out to me, but it's really useful and makes a huge difference!
One more tip! : due to their natural instincts in the wild, cats see water that is next to food as “contaminated” so they’re less likely to drink it! If you put their water bowls further away from the food. They will drink more frequently. I tried this at home and WOW the difference! 🥰
My biggest recommendation is talking to your cats a lot, and telling them when you are leaving/when you will be back! Like for example if you're going to be leaving the house to get groceries or if you're going out of town for a couple days (even if you have a sitter) be sure to tell them you are leaving! Cats can understand like 60-80 words in whatever language they are around just through observation. If you leave them without telling them you will be coming back they can seriously think you are abandoning them and also it explains when they act really crazy right when you come home sometimes. If your cat has an onset of neurotic or "disrespectful" tendencies like peeing outside of the litter box out of nowhere (without any change in food or litter* because that can sometimes trigger peeing outside the litter box due to stress) talk to them and keep them in the loop on what you're doing, where you're going, when you'll be back etc. They love you and don't want to be left in the dark :)
this is so helpful! I moved out of my parents house to an apartment with one of our cats. He already had separation anxiety but it got so much worse after I moved. He would HOWL for hours if he was alone and you could hear him from at least 3 apartments down. He loves schedule and rituals so I started telling him in the exact same way/same words/same intonation that I'm going out and to be good before I leave for work. Now when he hears me say it, he's basically conditioned to calm down and wait for me. Not to humanize him too much, but you can literally see the understanding in his eyes that he knows I'll be back and he'll just go off to window watch.
@@Livmyt I think its good to recognize that your cat is a lil conscious being all of his own! They will love you more for it :) It shows you respect them and want them to feel safe and comfortable.
Your cats may prefer the saucer bowls due to whisker fatigue. Having their whiskers rub against the bowls sides for a long period of time can be disorienting and maybe even painful for some cats. That's also why a cat may come over and 'beg' for more food when he still has some in his bowl, he just wants it to be shook into the middle. I would also recommend every cat owner look into cat water fountains, since cats tend to prefer clean, flowing water, and cats already seem to have a lower thirst drive, at least compared to dogs. Cat's being more hydrated will also help prevent kidney issues and urinary tract infections.
I love this! I also have 3 cats. This is all great advice ( although 4 litter boxes in a nyc apartment doesn’t work- luckily everyone is fine). I have separate feeling spaces, different brushes for everyone, cat shelves for them to climb, etc. My cats liked to scratch the couch. I found these wall scratch posts that are amazing and no more couch ruining!!! This is a great video.
My cat LOVE my sister, so we usually go visit her and she's the one that clip her nails, help us give her baths and that stuff she just get soooooo calm with my sister's voice
I tried a hairbrush for my longhaired car and she responded well. Even started purring! It has been such a struggle to brush her over the years. Thanks for the tip!
"My cat would rather play with q tips" 😂 I felt that haha my cat Pretzel would rather play with the twist ties that come with a loaf of bread over anything else 🤣
Love all of this! 😸 if you're cat isn't a big fan of being brushed try introducing it whilst they're eating! My cat used to hate being brushed, I started brushing him a tiny bit each dinner time and now he absolutely loves it! 😁
Loved this video! I asked you about feral kitties (my cat was feral but the shelter socialized her for a bit) on Twitter and didn't get a response but was excited to see this video!
Such a relaxing and cute video! I just moved my cat tower in front of a different window and my little tabby Gerbert is loving life up in his tower, sniffing the breeze from outside ♡
I really loved that you informed yourself about the litterboxes, 'cause a lot of people have no idea, that cats need more room! I would really recommend not using the top tho, 'cause it can smell like a public loo to them. I would also recommend that you hide some of the dry food around the apartment instead of giving it straight up to them. It's way more fun for them and most cats eat, because they are bored, so they don't overfeed themselves. EDIT: Also watch jackson galaxys cat litter videos! They are really informative!
this is so great!! I found a feral kitten a few months ago and the process of getting her adjusted has been an interesting one, this is really helpful. Love you quack :3 💕
My girl absolutely LOVES to be brushed with a boar hair type brush. I can't get her to let me brush her with any other kind. She rolls right over onto her back and let's me brush her tummy when I bring that thing out.
We use the teacup saucers from our old set of dishes for our cats and yes, putting them in the dishwasher is a lifesaver !!! And that’s totally the exact same brush I use. Plant lady rings so true to me too ☺️
Have you looked into TNR for any remaining ferals that might still be around/ in your neighborhood? I love all these tips, you are very knowledgeable and caring for your pets!
I have that pet geared vacuum too! I'm considering that automatic litter box soon. I'm excited to incorporate some of these ideas in our new apartment. 😌
I know this is about cats but when I moved to my first studio apartment (with a husky mix dog) I thought a robot vacuum would be enough... It didn't pick up dog hair at all! And the tray was so small it filled up so quickly even in only 200 sqft. I finally got a full size vacuum specifically for pets and have never loved such a boring item more!! Definitely recommend.
I would love to see a video about how you rescued your feral cats / what it was like to acclimate them to living inside! There are a lot of feral cats in my neighborhood and it’s something I’ve been thinking about
Feral cats that aren't socialized to humans should not be brought into a human home and a lot of stray cats might not be feral but very happy in their colony so please don't just adopt stray cats from the streets please work with animal rescue .
@@Monsterpanter you are 100% right! A lot of feral cats are not able to adjust to life of an indoors cat, unless they're a younger kitten, in which case, if they are an orphan kitten and there is no way the mother can be found, it's fine to adopt, but usually, the mom is around, and other kittens close as well, and they should all be adopted (once they are old enough of course) and the mom spayed. But yes, the truth is by adopting a feral cat, you could be doing more harm then good. It can be extremely stressful for them and they might never adapt. Better off just feeding them and making sure they have access to a nice warm place to sleep.
I also have a feral cat from my neighborhood. He moved in to my house like a year ago. I say it like that because he just walked in and decided to stayed. He has very quickly become a a lap cat and he also likes to shuffle my dogs 😅
My cat is some kind of Siberian mix (she was a stray too!) and I found a human comb works really well on her double coat; I think those metal tooth brushes get too stopped up in long haired cats because the teeth are so fine and close together compared to combs/brushes for human use.
When we had 3 cats in a studio apartment, the windows were a lifesaver, and I think the real thing that Ultimately helped the most was putting them all on a feeding schedule.
my cats love paper so when you get something in the mail, use the paper as a cat toy/something to lay on. idk if every cat is like this but 1 was feral and 1 isnt. also found out my personal limit to cats is 2. 1 is just not enough but 3 is too much lol
more cat vids Grats on the spon, but damn that's an expensive box! I have three cheap boxes in two different rooms and that works totally fine :) It's important to make sure they are big enough for kitty's bum. I had an issue with one of my girls, she's got a habit of peeing on the walls, and getting a bigger box has saved us a lot of headache and stinky / sticky floors. I'd love to know what your thoughts are on toys. Types of toys, benefits, things to look out for. Size, materials, durability.
how did you train your cats to use the litterbox? My boy used to be feral and he won't even stand in the litterbox... he goes outside (which saves lots of money, yes.. but he had to have surgery twice and every time he can't go outside so we have him singing the song of his people constantly.. )
Cat Care Tip: Give the cats lots of kisses

i don’t have a cat but i want to be prepared when i adopt one someday 🥰

For plant lovers: growing cat nip and cat grass for your cats to eat, helps keep them out of the plants they can’t eat!
Gotta love Oliver, Peanut Butter, and Nathan 💕

Cat bowls in the dishwasher really is a game changer especially if you're cat gets picky if the bowl isn't totally clean!

I put my cats food on small appetizer plates that the family also use as we wash them very often pretty much every time we run the dishwasher
I dont have any cats now but when i was a teen i would clip my families cats nails while he was asleep, it worked great.
I am LIVING for the cat content

I've missed seeing the beans! Glad to see they're doing well!
me, no cats, listening intently to quack talk about litterbox raking: amazing outstanding breathtaking !
