When you guys took him in, he just "let it happen". He probably thought he's going to get eaten and gave up. Poor creature didn't have any idea how beautiful his life was going to be from there.
I think they were wrong. He didnt "Let it happen", she took him by his neck, the place you can grab any other cat, that's his instinct. You shouldn't do it though, you are literally take the cat's options, make him easily to be eating by a predator if that happens again(he will just give up think he will be carried).

This is heart wrenching. Thank God for people as yourselves. Daily I see so many starving neglected kittens, even grown cats. Right now I'm responsible for 6 cats left to starve. I love each and every one of them. I just can't save them all unfortunately. God bless you.
There's a neighbor five houses down who keeps cats and dogs in horrible conditions, he doesn't spay or neuter any of them and so a bunch of cats keep coming from his house. One of them had kittens under our house and we were able to socialize them, unfortunately Mama was too feral and we ended up doing TNR on her after months of trying to tame her indoors. She seems happy and we see her now and again, at least she won't add any more kittens who will suffer. The two kittens were adopted together and are doing great!
I feed a few as well in the street, fortunately they're hidden and safe, I prefer them to be free out there and having food available honestly, I'd bring them all with me if I could but the freedom they have and never starving is a good feeling for me
@@WobblesandBean I think your neighbor is what rescuers call a hoarder. Not like people with houses full of junk because they can't throw things away, but people who have a compulsion to "collect" animals. You know how some people collect buttons, or string, or basically worthless things like that? These people collect animals. They claim to "love" them, but they keep them in deplorable conditions. Hoarders are adept at making people sympathize with them; they'll beg a judge to let them keep half a dozen animals or so because "I love them so much, please let me keep at least a few." Then the collecting starts all over again. Rescuers have been trying to teach judges about this syndrome, so that they aren't deceived. If I were you, I would talk to a humane society about what to do. They may advise you to report him to the police.
I'll admit I probably would have named him Odin due to the eye. He looks almost exactly like my grandmother's old cat Beaker and I'm getting nostalgic. Beaker was abused before she got him and he couldn't meow, only "beak" but he was the snuggliest furball I've ever known.

When a stray turned up here, it was so forward, boisterous and bashy, I instantly called it Odin... until the evening when my daughter examined it more closely. She's now Odine, with a feminine E!

imagine being blind and helpless not being able to voice out the help that you've wanted, he relied the human who help him so much, sorry i'm gonna cry
Very true statement my friend. However, Feral cats were created by humans from domesticated cats, that were thrown out into the streets by many of these "Forever ASSHOLES" that has NO regards nor respect for any forms of life whatsoever.
@@robertko5425 ... cats are not domesticated. Breed cats are. Cats have coexisted with humans since ancient times. They can survive perfectly well in the wild. Will their life expectancy be the same as a kept cat? No. But the life expectancy of a wild lion will not match that of one in a zoo either. The reason why there are ‘feral’ cats is because they co-exist in out habitat. Like birds, mice, rats, etc.
I couldn't believe Apollo could become so beautiful....your constant care and love has changed him to become a new cat. He looks so handsome now. Thank you for your care and support.
Nah it still horrible, where I live u can barely find people like that, But if u look at the good side of it ull see its good but honestly no its not good at all. Take a look at healthline PETA. and ull see how bad it is. Its an organization btw
The world gets better every day, life just 100 years ago was exponentially more difficult and full of suffering. But with time every facet of human existence as a whole improves.
I rescued a 1 eyed feral Tom cat. We called him Butterscotch. He lived with us for almost 10 years. He's now resting under a marker in our back yard. He was such a gentle soul. ❤️
His faint little meows when they started brushing off the mange off made me choke up. They were faint cries for help which these blessed people gave him. Thank goodness he'll never have to worry about it ever again.
I can't imagine how wonderful it must feel after suffering alone for so long to have people take care of you and give you all the love you never got before 😭
I rescued a cat in terrible condition several years ago. After the vet did what she could, I brought her home. For the first year or so she was spooked if you walked up behind her. When she showed up in our neighborhood she was declawed and neutered, so she had been someone's pet. Fast forward 18 months and a friend looked at her and said ' why she's a himalayan kitty!' and we realized that she was. Had her now for 5-6 years and she is a hoot. She plays like a kitten even tho she is 11 or so. Her coat is lovely and she a high maintenance princess, goes to her groomer every 4 weeks to keep her coat beautiful. In the last year, she decided to become a lap cat. She had never sat on us before but suddenly that's where wants to be A LOT. I would never have expected her to be a very attractive cat but she fooled us! Best personality of any cat we have ever had - I see why owners of Himmys will often adopt more of that breed even tho they DO demand a lot of grooming and brushing and bathing - their personalities are so much fun, the high maintenance is well worth it!

I dunno about that... It kinda seems like it was implied he was born in the wild and domesticated. It’s just that, without proper care, the wild is a ruthless place.
I rescued a half-blind cat from the shelter. When I adopted him, the workers were so shocked and happy for him because he'd been there for a long time and they thought he'd never get adopted. At first he was so scared but over a week, he warmed up and now acts like the king of the house.
I love when they said “it’s okay, it’s not your fault.” I always make sure to tell my pets that when they’ve done something like puke or have an accident (if I catch them intentionally peeing/marking that’s a different story), because even if I’m mad and they’ve just made my life very hard I still love them.
@TK Clarke When my precious darling cat was a kitten she'd do that too, chewing off headphone chargers, chords and a whole dang fleece blanket was suckled on so much she ate the whole thing. Instead of getting angry I sang the old Destiny's Child bootylicious but with lyrics regarding little Channi and her naughty behaviour.

I can't even begin to explain the joy it brought me to spend time with her as she gradually came out of her shell. 2 years later, sleeps on my bed with me, gets on my lap for a good scritch session and sometimes I'll watch the birds with her. Now we're both living our best life... together! Big thanks to people like in this video!

It took 3 years for my feral cat Gracie to come around but now that she has I'm her human. This is why I hate when people hate cats because of how “hateful” they are. Every cat I’ve met for the first time has been so sweet and loving. A cat CAN be hateful, but they usually have their reasons.
Exactly!! And these people also usually have such a huge double standard when it comes to dogs. I’m very indifferent on dogs, but I’m also very terrified of them because they’re EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, especially when compared to a cat. But no, of course it’s a cat that’s hateful and mean because it got mad you touched it where it didn’t like... /s
Omgggg thank you! Im constantly going back and forth with my friends about how they think all cats are mean! If you treat a cat badly or any animal poorly they are not going to be nice. However if you treat any animal with love and compassion they will be nice. Literally common sense. I grew up with cats my whole life and they’ve all been loving and literally just want to cuddle with you all day. I have the videos and pictures to prove it! You can tell people all you want but it’s like they always believe what they believe🙄
I don't think there is another living being on the planet that can equal or surpass a cat's emotional intelligence...once they see you don't want to hurt but help them , they are all in...
@@ginpak7037 I think it's both. Animals and humans are equally important. To add to that, God created us humans to take good care of nature especially animals.
@@tobysus6569 No, they don't - no more than kittens do when their mother cat is carrying them. They instinctively go limp, and that is all. Besides, it was the best option available here.
I still don’t like to see them held like that but I understand that sometimes there is no other options. I wouldn’t pick them up like that unless I absolutely had to. Just my opinion.
@@gory6747 yeah, it doesn't hurt much as adults but it does stress them out, but at the very least it's much better than grabbing them by the tail/legs.
He was not a feral cat. He was very abused by humans which made him fearful. Then he was dumped. He was out there for a long time. Bless you for saving him.
I agree with you, this is not a feral cat. He was not wild when he was caught. A feral cat would have destroyed this world and the other when he felt the lady's glove on him. Besides, even blind a feral cat would not have let the lady get near to him. This is a former house cat who was dumped or that ran away. And life on the streets is harsh. He never once showed agressive behaviour, just fear. Poor baby... His luck was to be found by you before it was too late.
feral or stray, he was just a hungry and tired cat that desperately needed a helping hand, a good bath and warm home. I'm so glad the cat got this, and I hope for most street cats they will find a good home, before all 9 lives run out 😥🐾🐾
I agree. Of course these folks have more experience than me (and are doing god's work so to speak btw), but I've seen cats who grew up on the street and they are wild animals who'd go absolutely nuts at being grabbed (they can destroy you even just with their back paws) and often stay pretty wild even years later after living with humans. Seems much more like a cat who maybe run away from home (maybe more than one) and lived on the streets for awhile.
this was a great story with a beautiful outcome. that poor kitty looked horrible n I can't imagine how hard his life was.. everyone involved in this rescue needs to be applauded for doing such a wonderful job.. I work at a cat shelter and i know how heartbreaking it is to see cats like this brought in. But after they get treatments, food, water and a warm place go sleep, they can start to warm up to trust. But with patience, a kind heart, and the willingness to put time into it, you can gain a cats trust. I’ve made it possible for many feral cats to go out for adoption and know that they can trust humans. It can take anywhere from a week to 4 months to gain a feral cats trust, but once its there, they are such loving furballs :3
Thank you for working at a cat shelter and helping this beautiful, divine, loving, soul creatures who depend on us for their well-being. Yes, you are doing God's work. God Bless 🙏💕🕉️
Wow what a beautiful story...and a hard one. I'm grateful that they kept Apollo. He didn't need another journey. Thank you to the angels who rescue. It gives more hope to our fragile world. Hugs to everyone.
He’s beautiful. We used to feed a stray that kept coming to our house. He’d eat then go off, and we’d see him strolling up the street. We called him Bruiser as he looked like a street brawler, filthy and unkempt. After he began getting regular meals from us he tidied himself up. He turned out to be a beautiful tabby. My friend said she had a stray cat came round that she named Teddy. One day whilst visiting her, the stray arrived. I said ‘Bruiser’ as she said ‘Teddy’. We laughed so hard! My husband decided to call him Teddy Bruiservelt! And no we are not American we’re British!
I knew somebody with an adopted cat like this, he was maybe as much scar tissue as he was cat, and the rest was muscle that might as well have been corded steel, *BEEFY* little dude. I remember him mostly being standoffish except with a few people who he just kind of arbitrarily decided were ok. I was happy to be one of them, the first time I came over he just sorta hopped in my lap and gave me one of his short little 'mowf' sounds. It was weird to pet him because of the scar tissue having a fucky texture under the fur, but he was still a little champ.
That happened to me also. I thought the cat was mine. Found out he had 3 different family’s he lived with. We all thought he was our cat. He was a big Tom cot. He fooled us all.
What an emotional transformation!! this is what makes rescue so amazing. The lady in this video is a real rescue veteran for who I have an incredible amount of admiration.
I’m a big guy and I honestly don’t shed tears easily for anything at all. But this here actually had me running water fountains. This was so emotionally sad but with an amazing turn of events. Constantly getting caught up in the trials and tribulations of everyday life you often forget that people like them exist, but I'm glad they do. Not just for the benefit of animals, but for us all.
A tattoo on her right hand says "me". I bet her left hand says "ow" so it says "meow" when hands are next to eachother. She does not seem like someone who is at all a "me" person.

I'm crying for this beautiful precious kitty. Thank you so much for catching him and making him better and loving him for the first time ever. Angels around you all
I rescued a feral cat once. That boy had a damn hole in the middle of his eye. Veterinarian wanted to stitch it up. I decided against it. I knew about the regenerative capabilities of cats. We waited and watched, if it would get any worse. Luckily, it didn't. Instead, it healed. The wound in the eye became smaller and smaller until it was gone. All that was left behind, was a small, whitish scar. I imagine what would be if we would've stitched it up. He would be running around with one perfectly healthy eye behind a stitched-up eyelid. This is no advice. I can imagine that a wounded eye could also kill your kitty. But always keep an eye on your options and make wise decisions for your animal.
With animals and with humans, the body wants to heal itself and it has that ability. Doctors know a lot, but there is a lot that the body can do that doctors can't. Countless animals and people over time have gone insane and died because they assumed doctors knew more about their bodies than they did. I'm not an anti-vaxxer which I felt like it seems I'm implying, but I'm not. Sometimes the best medicine is to trust in the way God made you.
I feel as if it's a game of percentages, they give you the best one but sometimes you can get lucky with another option, though hindsight is the only way to truly know and sometimes it's better not to risk it
@@jeremywhistler2850 This is such a harmful mentality. Doctors *do* know about your body more than you do, that is their job and what they were trained for. We're imperfect, fragile beings, and so are most animals. We don't have some mystical ability to regenerate.
One of the ladies trying to catch him claimed his senses were elevated based on the fact he could hear her. The joke is she was moving leaves loudly so really anyone could hear her.

@@WobblesandBean I hope you reported that neighbor to the authorities. All the animals there: dogs, cats should be rescued and re-homed.
@@WobblesandBean TNR IS all you can do! thank you for stepping up to help the community
That’s funny, when I bathe my cat the trust level does not increase.

I agree he’s not feral, just a stray. But the rest is just assumptions unless you know the particulars of this specific case.
I agree feral animals bite. I know. I've been bitten.
feral or stray, he was just a hungry and tired cat that desperately needed a helping hand, a good bath and warm home.

Poor baby. He's such a gorgeous boy. I'm so happy you found him!
I can’t stop crying… I can not thank you enough for finding him and loving him!!! Without you, he would not have known what love was at all. 💗
All living things have the ability to regenerate! We all have stem cells that are quite possibly the most intelligent cells of the body. Activate!
So glad he’s healthy
Beautiful people who worked tirelessly to save a beautiful cat!!
I am a cat guy, this hits right in the feels. Perfect people found him so he can have a normal life now.
Great punny name and a cat lover. As a Poirot fan I salute you sir.
@@elizabethalderman8749 Thank you. I love cats, puns and working my gray cells:)
