I cook mine in a double boiler. No danger of the can exploding. I set my timer for 30 minute intervals. I check water level and stir every 30 minutes. I like doing the double boiler because it let's me control the consistency and color that I want. Let's me control the cooking of it.
The problem with the methods using canned milk is tin cans are lined with a layer of plastic. Heat and fat causes the plasticizers (chemicals such as phthalates) to leach into the food. Phthalates are endocrine disruptors and are very difficult to purge from one's system. They are "forever", like PFAS, PFOA.
Folks... don't you use pressure cooking pots in the US? - The consistency of pressure cooker method dulce de leche depends on the time used. I normally start with 30 m for a not so runny nor frosting version.
Ive done that method probably hundreds of times, and nothing bad ever happened. I've also done extensive research on the matter to see what scientists have to say about it, and I was pleased to find out that the chances of that happening are very low, and wont happen unless you don't take the precautionary measures which I talk about. However, if you are afraid please dont do it. You can try dulce de leche different ways.
@@PiesandTacos I've seen many videos where they make the caramel first and then add the condensed milk. Do you think it will taste as good as the pressure cooker Dulce de leche?
@@safahameed3671 It wont taste like dulce de leche, but it will still be good. it's a matter of preference though. I prefer dulce de leche over caramel :)
Hi 👋 I need to make 24 of these for Christmas presents. I have a new 23 quart pressure canner and wondered if you felt the 30min option you demonstrated would be safe for all the cans together or do they need a different cooking method. I have not used the canner before .... should I dispense the milk into the glass jars first or leave in the tin? Thanks for your suggestions 😊
I have never used a canner, so I can't help, sorry! I've only cooked two cans at a time on my regular pressure cooker and left them the same amount of time 35 on high minutes, and let the pressure release naturally.
@@PiesandTacos I thought that may be the case so I bought myself an instant pot today which will do the job. I'll leave my new canner for another time ❤👍 Thank you so much for replying.
Congrats to the presenter for the excellent summary. Worth watching. Let me pls help answering some repeated questions in the comments. Yes, several cans of condensed milk can be boiled at once for as long as they're all on one single layer on the bottom of the pressure cooker but not one on top of the other(s). I always do 7 cans into a 7-litter pressure cooker, filling water about 1 inch above the cans. I place one can in the centre and 6 around. This way the cans hold one another vertically and the bubbles from the boiling water do not move the cans. I boil them for 30, 35, or 40 minutes, depending on how thick I want the boiled condensed milk to come out, counting the minutes from the moment that the pressure cooker starts releasing pressure through the valve. A 30-minute boiling gives a beige-like condensed milk colour and a much spreadable consistency, and so when increasing the minutes of cooking the colour intensifies so does the consistency thickens. Regarding the texture, even the 40-minute boiled condensed milk is still spreadable, just by mixing it with a spoon or a spatula to make if softer. Certainly pressure cookers can be intimidating to some to be used. The advice is to use a pressure cooker of a high quality, of a well recognized brand, and that it has at least 2 extra safety ways for the pressure to escape in case the main valve gets clogged, and obviously to follow the manufacturer's manual.
I cook pot roast and roast beef in my slow cooker and sometimes its can be over night 8hr on low, or day of 4hrs on high. I can't believe this can't be the same 4hrs on high in a slow cooker like 4hr stove top and yield same results.
This is so dangerous!!! Not because of the can exploding, but because I’ll eat the whole can!

It's my favorite for sure.
I really want to try the pressure cooker method but I'm scared that the can might burst 😢😩

How much water do you put in the pressure cooker? And how many cans can I do at a time? 😊
hi! I have a bigger can that is 1kg, would it take longer?? I'll do the stove top method
Do you know what temerature should be best to cook condensed milk using the sous vide technique?
❤
How is the taste compared to just buying a can of dulce de leche?
You should make macarons with just egg white powder; no egg whitess
Hi why does dulce de leche turn grainy in the fridge?
How do these compare to just regular pre-made canned dulce de leche?
Hi, how many whistles on the pressure cooker? Thanks
Thanks . Have you tried this with plant based sweetened condescend milk? I think I might give it a try in the pressure cooker.
I dont believe it works.
i think it could be the soda making it grainy as its not needed. just leave it out
Is the pressure cooker one easily spreadable on top of a cheesecake for example or is it too sticky ?
Can I put more then one can in the pressure cooker or only one at a time?
Thank you so much for this video, question, can I put 2 cans in the pressure cooker? 😇😇
If you have a large pressure cooker I can see that working. I have never done two cans in the pressure cooker, I always do one at a time :)

Just started mine in the Crockpot. Thank You ❤
In the slow cooker did you do low or high?
Or just go to the grocery store and buy a can
Was looking for something like this! Thank you!
Camila after you release the pressure from the presssure cooker do you let the can sit in the water to cool down or take can to cool by itself?
i do let it cool down in the water.
:') this was really helpful thank you!
Thanks you saved me so much time ❤️❤️
For the instant pot method, do you add water?
absolutely, please watch the full video and explanation before doing this, if there's no water the can will explode
this is a good video, want to be youtube friends?
she didn’t rely back might not seen your comment
Can you cook the dulce de leche and leave it in an un open can to use later
you could I like to take it out so it doesn't sit in the aluminum can for too long. You can even freeze it for a few months, it freezes great!
I have a slow cooker not a pressure cooker, but it has a high option. Would this still work if I put it on high? Thank you!!
if doing that you will need to cook for about 8 hours in the slow cooker.
