Are your Dr Martens rubbing on the top of your foot?

- Take them to your local shoe repair shop and get them stretched. If they don't have a proper boot stretch ask nicely and they'll use a standard stretcher on it's side like in the video above. You can also buy a stretcher on Amazon but they often don't have enough grunt to do this trick.

I’ve got particularly wide feet, and have always had a job that requires suits. It took me a long time to start stretching new shoes out with “things” inside them for a week or so before wearing them, I still get blisters but I don’t have the once a year crippling pain anymore.
Great video
Good to hear you have a plan that works. Keep an eye out for a second hand shoe stretcher, ideally one that you can fit little bumps on where you need them. Then you might get away with zero blisters.
great advice.. I wish i knew this when I got my Chelsea boots dr martens. I just tried to tough it out
I didn't even think to try this and was just suffering in silence 😅 thanks for the video 👏
Yes our feet put up with a lot until it hurts real bad.
I bought those expanding shoe trees that opens top to bottom instead of side ways. even bought shoe stretch sprays. all for my dansko clogs.
such a great tip!!!!
Since nobody has an instrument like that :
Stuff your boots with paper, or cloth
Hi Andrew, if you are looking for a shoe stretcher you'll find them in shoe repair shops and many shoe retailers have one stashed away out the back and forgotten. If you want to buy one Amazon have them. At home you can cut the end off and old well worn broom handle and use the smooth end against the inside of the boot upper. The other end sits on the insole or a strip of wood lying inside the boot. Good luck with your boots.
Damn I I forgot my ordinary wood stretcher at my other cobbler shop
Hi Jacob, so funny, I say things similar most days! I sold my other shop and left way too many things there. Stuff I thought I'd never need.
Lmaoo my phone really overheard me struggling to get off my docs and somehow this appears on my timeline 😂
I don't worry about discomfort with Dr. martens because the crappy outsoles will wear out before any blisters form.
lol, that is a new approach! i agree the soles arent the best.
Lol, so true, and what a wonderfully witty comment.
I will tell my son to do that on his boots
I think this mostly happens with skinny people when i had fat feet they didn't rub/hurt but when I lost weight have skinny feet they seem to rub/hurt more especially the heel i know many people who had little lump growth on back of heel from ill fitted Doc's
I have 1460 platforms and they’re brand new. They fit perfectly in length but are narrow through the toe box. Should I expect they’ll stretch enough in time that I’m not going numb? Or go up a size?
I vote for up a size
@@shanesshoerepairs thank you so much
@@hollypuckett3931 how did you get on? did you muscle through the small size? or buy a new size?
My docs that I LOVE because they are a rare colour and I got them for $8 but in recent years if I wear them for a full day they rub on my big toe and I get a blister under my nail and then the nail falls off.. it’s awful… anyways could you do something like this to stop it rubbing the top of my big toe?
Yes sure, take to cobbler to stretch. Also search for my stretch with steam video.
@@shanesshoerepairs awesome. I will totally do that. They could use one of those cool tools ypu add the bumps to in order to add extra space to where my big toenail rubs. You are the bomb!
Happy 🐣 Easter, I hope the 🐰 bunny gave you lots of chocolate
Will this work with lace up boots as well.?
At the base of the tongue it will.
The foot fits very good in my Doc Martens but I have a pressure on the top where my big toe is. What shall I do?
can you jam a jar in there? Else take to cobbler for stretching.
Can I humbly ask you where to get spare outsoles for Dr.M ?
Search Dr marten replacement soles and your country name
Or Vibram 1136
I have a brown pair of these but they are deformed from how much I walk in them, is there any way to get rid of the creases?
Try heating with hairdyer, then hold in shape with Handees towels stuffed inside till they cool.
Question … size 6 is too big but size 5 is too small - which size should I go for :(
Try the 6. Add a basic foam insole under the existing.
@@shanesshoerepairs : Excellent advice.
I got a dr martens Chelsea i find it difficult to wear and to remove
Keep at it, they'll get easier to get on and off and wear. Try 1 hr a day every day for a month ... if no good ... find a smaller footed friend to wear them.
which model are those docs i like they without the laces
Chelsea
These boots are so much of a pain in the ass they should just make them better, That's why I always buy Carolina boots........, I've had a doc Martin boots a handful of times and even after having them for a month or two and wearing them off and on they still never really broken and always rubbed my feet and my opinion they should just make him better and not make them at all a lot of people get food injuries from doc martens like either blisters or other things happen
The only good Dr Martens are with the soft leather pascal virginia. No breaking in. But smooth leather no way.
if you have got Dr Martens put them in the bin and buy something else. You will be rewarded.
Mine hurt on one foot at the small toes. Any advice?
Find something, that you can jam across inside the boot. Consider looking inside kids wooden blockset. Needs to be smooth at both ends so you wrecked the insides of your boots. Ideally smaller on the little toe side, Deodorant bottle?
Does it works with vegans one too?
Is that smooth leather or nappa?
From memory they were the smooth hard leather.
Can you Tell Me what to do If it’s uncomfortable on the toes?
Hi Magnolie, is it on top of your toes? If so consider wearing them without the insole to see if that feels better. If it does you could get them stretched up at the toes or fit a thinner insole.
@@shanesshoerepairs thank you so much, removing the insole immediately helped ❤️
@@magnoliemagnolia nice one, hopefully in time they will stretch out a bit and you can sneak the insoles back in.
@@shanesshoerepairs thank you! Is it Bad for the feet to Walk without the insole?
@@magnoliemagnolia not terrible, but can feel a bit rough
FUT
Docs are the most uncomfortable footwear that I have ever worn.
Or buying shoes that fit from the beginning.
Do please keep in consideration that feet can also grow because of the musscles. My dancer and runner moments made sure my old shoes because the narrow. Im glad i found this channel. Maybe a little to late but hey at least now.... i dont have to throw away some shoes!
@@Piinkypanter I have to admit that since my feet got used to the space of dr martens, I can’t fit in my former shoes with heels or pointed at the toes 😉. I sold them on Vinted…
@@monikabrachetti8585 yea your feet will thank you!! So yea both buy fitting shoes and take in consideration your feet may grow a bit if you work out or barefoot walk a lot
or get better boots
If they weren't made out of shit materials you could condition them and wear them. They'll stretch immediately.
Why are Dr. Martens so rubbish now?
An interesting question. My guess is fashion, costs and maybe it's been sold to accountants?
Only select boots are still actually made in England, most of them are machine made overseas now.
Ziploc bag with water into the boot and into the freezer. Sorted... what is the model of that boot. I like it
DM Chelsea boots model 2976 I believe. Frozen water works for some, most that come to us need more than can be achieved with that method. Water expands about 9% when frozen where a shoe stretcher can be made about 50% bigger.
@@shanesshoerepairs Agreed... Great video. Cheers
Crappy boots
These are a fasion boot, not a work boot. The base models are still made in England to a high standard and are suitable as a work boot.
It is good it have subtitles as it is hard to understand his English 🤦♂️
