Great tutorial, thank you. I have some hammertoe on both feet and have never worn pointy shoes, couldn't figure out why this was developing. As soon as you said something about sandals and your toes working to keep the sandals stable, it all made sense. I've only really worn sandals the past 5 years, and this hammertoe is pretty recent. Now to try to reverse it! Thanks so much!
Great video, thank you! Would you please advise on how to tape all small 4 toes with minimal taping as possible for a child. Is there a discount shipping to the UK?
Tip: Watch your toes for circulation with this taping application. If you find your toe(s) are turning blue and feel numb, remove tape, rest foot for 30 minutes and retape with less stretch until circulation is acceptable. Remember not all tapes stretch the same so the stretch values may be different.
I tried the hammer toe taping, not sure where I went wrong...I left it on for 5 days + of course showered with it on. It felt really great + I could walk normally. However when I removed it I had an open sore on my toe. I do have pre-diabetes so maybe that played a role since perhaps the skin can't "breathe" under the tape?. Well it's been 3 months now + I just can't heal that wound so I can't put more tape on but I'ld really love to because every night now after about 5-6hrs of sleep I'm woken up with toe pains + spasms like it's being pulled up again. Wish I knew a solution: if you could advise I'ld really appreicate it.
@@seeamerica1 You need to see a diabetic wound doctor immediately. It sounds like you have infection in your toe if you are having pain. Infection will go to the bone and then you may have to have your foot or toe amputated depending on where the infection is or how deep it is. It takes a long time with medical treatment to get a diabetic wound to heal. I know because my fiance has diabetes and it took almost two years to heal his toe and weekly appointments to the wound care doctor. His toe finally healed with me changing the bandages everyday and cleaning his toe according to Drs orders, thank God for his healing. Then once you're healed you have to treat the healed place with kid gloves because all that healed skin is new and very soft and delicate and could break open again if your not careful with it and protect it, it takes time for the skin to get tough again, that is what his Dr told him. If the infection goes to the bone you can get osteomyelitis and you will need an amputation . Please go to the doctors. My fiance had to have some skin grafts on his toe and and take antibiotics as well. They do the skin grafts right in the doctors office on your wound. They use the skin from a new born baby boys penis from their circumsision for the skin grafts. It's just amazing what they can do. Let me know if you see a doctor. You are in a dangerous situation. Please go to a wound care specialist before it's too late. Best of luck to you.
Brilliant tutorial. So clear. I found your instruction for' bunion' joint. It has worked where nothing else I tried did. Got my balance back for yoga because of it and it stopped the toe cramps. I will definitely use the hammer toe taping - I had made my own with a ball of cotton wool for the lift.
K Tape is the best choice, unlike some shoe insert types of aids. Because it is flexible enough and thin enough to fit in shoes and allows you to stay mobile in the shoes you already have. I have looked at the inserts they sell but I know how much bulk that adds to the shoes and then you can not wear that inside the shoe anymore. K Tape is nice and thin and can work in every single way the wearer intends to wear it and can be changed. No shoe insert can do that.
I recently had surgery to remove middle joint to straighten my fixed claw toe (about 6 weeks ago). Have been out of the surgical shoe for about 10 days still have some swelling and numbness. Do you think this taping would be appropriate to continue to pull the toe down? Pin has been out about 10 days and surgeon suggested a toe splint to help with the lift.
Wish you would show how to tape for metatarsus adductus in adult feet. My fight foot was never corrected as a small child and turns inward, making it hard to fit in shoes...very uncomfortable! I'm wondering if taping could gradually correct it at least somewhat.
Thanks for this clear presentation! I am confused by all the podiatry sites that recommend toe crunches to strengthen the plantar muscles as a treatment for hammer toe. This seems to contradict what you are saying about over-firing of the toe flexors as a cause of hammer toe. Can you clarify this for me? I am sold on taping!
Why doesn't someone just make or design a brace out of stretchy light weight material rather then tape your foot up constantly. Some type of Velcro would help you to adjust the tightness or looseness of the brace.
Thank you. Interesting about the cause as I do wear those Nike type scuffs a lot and yes my toes do tend to claw as I walk to keep feet in slide. Yet my hammer toe is un comfortable after a walk in sneakers and I only get relief when walking in the slides ...so I'm making matters worse every day! My question about taping is would the tape that goes across the foot after the 4 tapes push on the bunion making it worse?
I have looked everywhere for this kind of demonstration! For the past year, I have tried to find a physical therapist or a podiatrist who could do this for my two still-flexible-but-stiffening-up and crooked toes. I am going to try to do this for myself, but do you know what kind of practitioner might be able to do this for me? I need to get on this fast before these toes completely harden. Thanks.
Question - I have hammer toe - but I also have a plantar plate tear - should I tape this way? So far I have been taping over the toe and under the foot in the same pattern you show in the first part - but this looks much more complete, comfortable and stable - just wondering if it is applicable to me and the plate tear?
Thank you for the flip flop information. I have 4 hammertoes on both feet. Always baffled as to why my toes got like that. I am now 56 years old. Will i be able to fix my toes with this method or am I too old?
It might be a bit easier to get the 4 strips off the original strip you cut equal in width if you cut the original strip in half and then cut these 2 strips in half instead of cutting off 4 strips individually.
Thank you for posting this. In the past, I've used Kinesio taping for my knees, so am familiar with the ends of strips that need to be covered/protected from clothing.
I be just tried your taping of the second toe. I hope this helps with the pain. My question is how long to keep the KT tape on? Is it for a day or 5 days?
ThankYou for the demonstration. I have problem on big toe. Can you demonstrate to wrap on the big toe too, PLEASE. I would like to try. Where or how to buy these tape, PLEASE HELP. ThankYou.
Thank you! I have a mobile claw toe that’s quite uncomfortable (a nerve is trapped somewhere). I’m going to try this kind of taping. Incidentally, taping may not cure a hammertoe, but a study did show that consistent taping often led to an improvement in the taped toe.
Hi. Great video thanks. A family member has permanently bent toe, v painful when he walks as effectively walking on a knuckle. He doesn’t want surgery. Would taping be a waste of time, or would it help a little anyway? I’m going to buy the silicone gel Cushions as well to help support walking without pain.
I think I am gripping and the reason is my right foot is smaller by half a size than my right foot. So I am gripping my shoes. My left foot doesn’t have one.
Love your video and would like to try your techniques. Where do I get this tape? Why do you have different color tapes? Are they for different uses? Please let me know. Thx
I'm going to try this. I've just looked and see there are tapes for sensitive skin - I'm allergic to the glue on plasters (thought it was just Elastoplast but have realised it must be the glue on any plaster).
Thank you so much for the video and the tape recommendation. My issues developed during a weight lose routine on the Elliptical machine. Love the routine so really want to continue the routine alternating with swimming and the tape works for both sports.
After amputation of my big toe and now my long toe is arching like this a bit and it's starting to migrate over the top of the ring toe. I'm going to try this technique to see if I can give that long toe some support.
I have a partial amputation on big toe a few years ago. my hammer toe on second toe just started in last few years from it doing all the work now. I'm hoping to find a permanent solution
Thank you so much for your site. Two questions : how long at a time can you keep that tape on your toes/ foot? Is it supposed to hurt ? Will it cut off circulation? Thank you Dawn
Hi Dawn. Thanks for your question. It's not suppose to hurt, and it is possible to cut off circulation with this taping so you have to be careful and observe if it's too aggressive with looking at your toe and see if it's turning blue or really different colour wise from the other toes. I'm not sure why everyone is so focused on the taping when I've added treatment to reverse the condition at the end of the video. That's the real take away IMO. Good luck
LOL!!! Love your running commentary (the tool that might remind you of something sexual- keep those comments to yourself )🤣🤣🤣. I'm a nurse & I not only learned ALOT, I had fun & won't ever forget it! 🤣 perfect ! : ) TY!!
I haven’t found images like my foot but was wondering do I have hammer toe. My left foot curves in towards the right and it hurts I feel the weight n my sleep and in my hip when I walk plz respond I’m only 20
Thanks for sharing. My concern is the feeling of loss of circulation. Taping sometimes can do that or else it is too loose. How often need to be changed? Daily?
im gonna try this and then wear five finger shoes and when im barefoot exercise with toe curls im soending my whole time fixing my disease my toes muscles are so weak
i have this kind of problem in same toe but distal phalanx only! what to do? add another 2 strips making a total of 6 or just 2 for the distal phalanx? thx for the video btw!
Brilliant video. My hammertoes started after wearing Birkenstocks. Good to make the connection.
Much appreciate your sense of humor!
Where can i find those tapes?
It does works, I did it today and for the first time I can walk withou pain, thanks for sharing.
What sort of tape did you use ?
Any recommendation as to what shoes are best, instead of flip-flops...
Very helpful and detailed tutorial to tape, I am definitely going to try it!! Thank you!
It worked. Thank you. I guess my toes were not beyond redemption. I replicated your taping and it worked when other ideas had not.
Really? It worked? How long did it take?

Anyone with diabetes or neuropathy should NOT do this!!

When is best time do do this? How many minutes do you keep them tape? How often do you tape them? How long does it take to start seeing improvement?

Very informative thankyou. Also loving the accent maybe a hint of irish with american i say.
thanks.. how about the mallet toe. can you also show a tutorial?
Please advise where to purchase this tape. I have been using medical tape and it is terribly uncomfortable.
Excellent video.
Super helpful thank you. If you have a bunion casing the hammer toe, does it matter which one you tape first?

Hi, are you a Canadian Physiotherapist, or do you have any other heathcare credential or license? Thank you.
So well explained, thank you so much!!!

They do but those types of things do not work. It's the sticky tape that makes it work.
What makes the tape work is the grip. You can never replicate that in any kind of brace or even wrap.
The point of kinesio tape is to pull the skin and open space within the fascia. A brace cannot do this and would actually probably do the opposite
Cheers dude, I love your accent it’s like Canadian with echoes of Scottish. I’m definitely getting this tape for my hammer toes and flat feet 👍
Good.. easy demo.. thank you 👍🙏
Excellent , can you get this wet and if so, does it last? Would Amazon sell this tape? Thank you.
What is the best brand of tape

plus the are no links in description for products ;)
Is there also something like this for mallet toe?
I would like to see you demonstrate this for claw toe, which is a bit different from hammertoe. Really like your demos.
If I did this for mallet toe would I just take move everything down one joint? The tip of my toe is getting so sore.
Great tips!
You are too funny 🤣 ..."that sounds horrible"
Thank God I found a great hammer toe treatment , and I have tape .

Alice K did you try it and did it work. Thanks.
So for bunnions and toes is this retraining them?
Good video , I have broken secone toe 5 months ago, I didn't do nothing and it's becom bent up, I hope this taping will help me !
I'm going to try this. Thank you!

I don't see why not. Just watch the amount of stretch on the tape so as not to cut off circulation! good health and good luck!

if you do it correctly and it doesn't cut of circulation, gets more painful or itchy, then it can remain for a 3-7 days, depending on condition

once it's been on for an hour, the tape becomes water resistant
First off the idea seams reasonable but when one looks at the colour of your second toe on the 18-th minute, some concerns may come into place
Good taping technique.. I doubt the crystal helps but I’m sure the massage combined with heat has positive healing benefits if done routinely.

Keep things simple. Personally I'd try the least amount of taping as possible. Watch your tape tension so you don't cut off circulation. good luck!
Wouldn't it be easier just to buy narrower tape?
Okay, it only comes in one width.
