    At the end, we have a lens which becomes:
    - A 40mm F/2 speedboosted lens (FF and DoF equivalent) in 1080p format
    (because usable only at 35mm to avoid vignetting)
    - A speedboosted 30-60 mm F/2 lens (FF and DoF equivalent) in 4K format
    or
    - APS-C 28-56mm F/2.8 (FF and DoF equivalent) in 1080p format
    - APS-C 45-90mm F/2.8 (FF and DoF equivalent) lens in 4K format
    So versatile!

    It’s one of the best lenses for crop sensor cameras remember 1.6x crop so the 18-35 is not really a 18-35 with the crop is 29mm-56mm Lens it’s like having 3 prime lenses in one 24mm 35mm & 50mm all at the same F-stop F1.8 across the whole zoom that’s an awesome lens for a crop sensor camera and its sharp too real good images..
    Love it...

    definitely gonna be using SOLELY this lens as a filmmaker. this seems like the perfect lens for me with that wide 18mm since i mostly make travel films. on the other hand, you get that constant f/1.8 which is A DEAL BREAKER since i use a gimbal almost always and i really can't lose time switching out lenses and subsequently needing to rebalance. i've been using my 18-55 f/4 kit since i got my 200D back in 2018 and this sigma is just the perfect upgrade.
    all in all this lens just hits all the right spots and i can't wait for mine to arrive! great video man 🤘🏻

    Thank you for this Video. I just subscribed to your channel. I really appreciate the comments about this piece of glass. I started a UA-cam Channel about technology (the channel is in french cause i'm a French Canadian) few years ago but really started putting the time and efforts in 2020. i bought the M50 Mark ii in November and i'm still trying to figure out which piece of glass i want to get for my camera. So far i got the kit lens 15-45 F3.5/f5.6, a Canon 50mm F1.8 STM as it was dirt cheap. I paid 129$ for it and i also bought the viltrox speed booster as well as the non speedboster viltrox adapter. I just got a vintage Helios 44-2, and i got to say this lens is amazing for video. And i am waiting on some orders to come in for a MIR-1B 37mm and a Jupiter 37A 135mm. But the problem with theses 3 lenses is the lack of autofocus. Its great for filming something but filming yourself is difficult. You quickly get out of focus. Thank you for pointing me an alternative. Keep up the good work.

    • @donb2138
      @donb2138 5 років тому +3

      there is some in the range of 18 -20, but once you get to the 24-35mm range with the speedbooster/sigma 18-35mm combo it goes away. So for me, the benefits you gain make this a great combo. i'm still capable of shooting in the equivalent of three usable prime lenses with the speedbooste,r and that extra f/stop along with the crop very similar to a full frame.

    The only way to know is by comparing lenses. I suggest you do comparisons of similar lenses used for the same things. You can't say one lens is better than another if the specs are totally different. As far as the viltrox speed booster, I don't know any reasons to not use it and reducing the crop so much is huge. One good thing about the m50 is the price. If you are worried about exposing the inside to the elements, consider getting another one and having 2 lenses set up before going out. I know it sounds. Crazy, but why not? It could save you money in the long term.

    • @leonarddai4998
      @leonarddai4998 4 роки тому +1

      Of course you will get vignetting, because when you attach the speedbooster to canon m50 your sensor size will become 1.1 times crop, while the sigma 18 35 is designed for apsc sensor size (1.5 and 1.6 time crop). But if you're shooting in 4k at canon m50, you will get another 1.6 crop, so the vignetting dissapear

      I personally would not. I would say weddings need lenses with an even more versatile or tighter focal range.. like a 24-70.. you wanna be able to catch those candid or off guard shots and you just have to stand too close to your subject using the 18-35. But if you had this lens let’s say, on a 2nd camera.. I say go for it!

    Nice Review of the 18-35 👍
    What do you think of the speed booster with this lens as I've heard mixed reviews?
    Currently using the the normal viltrox adaptor on my m50 but would consider the speed booster especially with a lens like the 18-35 for a slightly wider angle?
    Thanks
    Aaron

    Does the speed booster with this lens and the m50 make that 28-56 go to roughly a 19-39?

    I have a question - Sigma 18-35 has a compatible MountingsCanon EF-S, but Viltrox Speedbooster has EF. Is the connection normal ?

    18-35 f1.8 sigma is efs apsc and has no is...vnetting unless zoom in on ef only speedbooster and adapter x1.6 crop equals longer range or close. Better is ef ff 16-35f4 with is with speedbooster. This is apsc m50 limits unless you upgrade to ff which I plan to do eventually in future with better lenses as whole kit...16-35 24-105 70-200 150-600 50 35 24 primes. Either r6 r rp or maybe newer body models. No to r5 or sony a7siii. Speedbooster you gain ef focal length equivalent ff and fstop. This is using 1080hd 1.6x sensor crop...its like 3.2x using 4k with no af 24fps. Dont need 4k full HD is fine saves power and memory. 50f1.8 with booster is like ff 55f 1.4 in full hd on m50.

    • @hidefstef

      I have an 85mm lens and its awesome... the crop factor of 1.6 on the censor makes the 85mm more like a 135mm field of view but the compression of the background you get out of it is amazing! Sidenote, My 85 is a vintage Nikon... I couldnt quite afford a more modern autofocus one yet lol

      @@hidefstef that's what my problem is ..I can't afford it...but recently I checked in camera market it was less that half the price..so I am gonna try buying that..but 50is also very good on Canon M50.

    I’m curious what your thoughts would be about sigmas 17-50 to make it 24-70 with the 1.6 crop on an m50 factoring in for asp c sensors.
    I’m also curious about the focus noise if you’re doing video with the 18-35. I know on the sigma 17-50 tends to be a little loud

    How is the 4k autofocus

    • @alekseibarulin3511
      @alekseibarulin3511 4 роки тому +2

      4k autofocus is terrible on M50, it is so slow, so the camera never stops hunting for focus. For me, it is much easier to keep the subject in focus using manual focus and maintain the same distance than using 4k autofocus.

      @hidefstef  5 років тому +1

      Its HEAVY vignetting... which if im being real.. bothers me a bit lol... BUT, if im gonna use it, more than likely im gonna just stick to 35mm... it doesn't have any vignetting at all and actually is pretty awesome lol... thanks for watching! Do you have the speedbooster, or the Sigma?
