How to pair an Xbox One controller with an iPhone or iPad

- If you’re running iOS 13 or iPadOS 13, you can now use a Bluetooth-compatible Xbox One controller to play MFi controller-compatible games on your iPhone or iPad. Unfortunately, this means you can’t use any Xbox One wireless gamepad: You’ll need the 1708 model or (out later this year) the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. In this video, Macworld’s Leif Johnson shows you how to set it up.

They don't sell the old ones anymore, you might even have the Bluetooth controller, unless you got Urs before 2017 or so. If u have the Xbox 1 s and above, u have a Bluetooth controller.

Update: I bought a recent xbox one controller for 40 bucks at bestbuy. Works perfectly with my note 10 plus. No input lag. I bought a cellphone holder for it and now I have the perfect mobile gaming controller. It's the nest for when I get bored outside my home. Still a diehard PC gamer though ;D

@@valium7141idk if this is a little late but there is a small button on your xbox below the logo. First turn on your xbox and xbox controller. Next click both the small button on the xbox and the button on the controller for about 5 seconds. It should then pair.
The Xbox controller doesn’t come up in Bluetooth settings. Yes I am using an Xbox 1 remote and holding down the right buttons but it doesn’t work. Please help me ASAP bc I just want to play games on my phone

What iPad or IPhone do you have? If you have an iPhone 5s or below it won’t work. And if you have 6s and above it will work.

@M Maybe unplugging the Xbox will fix it?
Move quite far away from the Xbox, maybe upstairs or downstairs or wherever your Xbox is. Then it won't turn on.

I feel like Xbox and Microsoft really produced some of the most criminally underrated controllers for the price point.
Even the cheapest one, the Xbox One s controller, felt heavy and extremely well balanced.
But what happens when one these controllers needs a firmware update

I assume no I mean the version of Bluetooth that comes with the controller cant be upgraded or down graded and a firm ware update shouldn’t remove or add to any of the controllers built in features

I did this and when I connected back to my Xbox and plugged in my headset it didn’t work, this happened with two of my controllers and not the third one which I did not connect, does anyone know how to fix this?
There is a small black button below the power button on the xbox, that’s the pair button. The small black button on the top of the controller is the second pair button. Turn on the Xbox one, and the controller then hold both of the pair buttons for a few seconds until they start blinking. The controller will blink slowly at first but if you hold the pair button again, it will blink at the same speed as the Xbox. Now the Xbox controller will pair to your Xbox!
