@@erinwrightwriting mam I have a problem you know yesterday my boss was very rude to me. My problem is that how can give least space between words that what I want . 2nd is how can give a line towards left side in notesheet document mam please help me it's humble request.
Hi, I am writing a thesis using MS Word 365. It is recommended to keep 2cm margin at the bottom. But the page number should be in right hand corner 1cm from the page bottom. How should i position the page number 1cm from the bottom margin without altering the 2cm bottom margin?
That is an interesting question! If you double-click in the footer area, you can open the Header & Footer tab. From there, you can set an exact position from the bottom of the page, which doesn't affect the margin. Thank you for watching!
i accidently changed some setting with the click of a mouse on accident. I no longer have the gray area for my "top Margin to the Left of the document." I can not adjust the margin size for the top or bottom of my document, only the width. I also on have my page set to 7.5" wide and 10" L, due in part to the margin option. I cant figure out how to get back to the normal settings.
I am sorry that you are experiencing this frustrating issue. When you say you can't adjust the margins, do you mean that the margin options in the Margin menu are grayed out (not clickable)?
I tried to replicate this issue but was unable to gray out only the page margin options. If you have a newer version of Word, I encourage you to reach out to Microsoft support in case it is an issues others are also facing. I wish you all the best with your project!
Hi, Erin thanks for the upload. Have a question about how to enable margins in the printing area I mean on the printing screen where we can move right or left margin and change the document alignment.
Thank you so much for watching! From the Print screen (File > Print), select the small "Print Setup" text link under the main Settings options. That should open the Page Setup dialog box where you can adjust the margins for printing. Best of luck!
Hello: Thanks for your video. Kindly help me to know how to set the margin in a a way that will not change by itself. I did all that you demonstrated (in this video) and the page and the page setup were perfect. However, whenever I resume my document, I see but the document went back to it's original state where the words are to both side. So close to both left and right that I am not able read some words. I did not adjust the percentage key view (- ____/____ +) at the bottom right-hand corner at bottom. This is happening everytime when I opened the document. Please, I need to know how to permanently correct it. Thank very much. (Howard).
Good morning, Howard! Thank you for watching my tutorial. It sounds like you may be viewing your document in Web Layout view rather than Print Layout view. To ensure you are in Print Layout view, select the View tab in the ribbon and then check the selection in the Views group on the far left side of the ribbon. Best of luck!
When using the ruler to adjust margins, it’s hard to get them symmetrical. After adjusting margins with the ruler, if you then go to page setup and see your actual margin measurement they are rarely even.
Thank you for watching! If you press and hold the Alt key on your keyboard as you move any of the markers on the ruler, you will see exact measurements.
@@erinwrightwriting Thank you that works! It is sort of finicky trying get an exact margin number... as I slide the double arrows left and right it jumps from .51 to .49 cant seem to get .50 exactly. I figured out when I zoom in on the document then I can get those in between numbers. This was great info, thanks again.
Thank you for watching! That issue may be caused by accidentally hiding the white space at the top of the page. If you hover your cursor toward the top ruler, your cursor should switch to two small squares with arrows in them. Double-click that cursor to hide/unhide the white space. I wish you all the best with your Word project!
QUESTION: I am binding a landscape document on the short side. How do I insert mirror margins on the short side of a document? Thank you. Your videos have been so helpful to me in this project!
Great question! When you are binding a physical document, you will want to add mirror gutters (which Word confusingly also refers to as margins). To do so, select Layout > Margins > Custom margins > "Mirror margins" in the Multiple Page menu > enter your gutter depth in the Gutter text box > OK. Of course, please do a test run on a few pages before printing a long document. I wish you all the best with your project!
Thank you for watching! To return to normal margins, press Ctrl + A to select your entire document. Then, go to the Layout tab and select the Margin button. From there, select Normal from the drop-down menu. Best of luck!
Hi, After I used the custom margins and I get out of word 2010 whenever I click on the word icon to start a new document it still locks in the margins that I had before. I have to go back and click on standard margins. Is there a way to lock in the standard margin so I don't have to keep clicking on that?
That sounds like a frustrating issue! One thing to try is to open a new document, set the margins to Normal, and then return to the Margins drop-down menu. From there, select the Set As Default button in the Page Layout dialog box. Then, select the Yes button in the next dialog box asking if you want to change your default margin for your Normal template. I wish you all the best!
Thank you for watching! I can't be sure what is causing the first line indent in relation to your custom margin. However, you may want to try selecting the affected text and then selecting the Layout tab. From there, select the Paragraph group dialog box launcher. In the Indents and Spacing tab in the Paragraph dialog box, ensure that "First line" is not selected in the Special menu. Best of luck!
Thank you for watching! The current versions of Word no longer offer animated text options; however, if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you can add 3D animated graphics. I don't have a tutorial on that topic yet, but here are the instructions from Microsoft Support: support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/insert-animated-3d-graphics-6f08009a-3da5-400d-a706-8e23f304cd72. Thank you for watching! I'm afraid I can't diagnose the cause of your problem. However, I encourage you to turn on the Show/Hide button (which looks like a paragraph mark) in the Home tab to see if you have any unwanted formatting that may be affecting your page number alignment. Best of luck!

Erin, I want my margins back to the default setting! When I do it by the Preset or Custom way nothing happens! I use control + A, but nothing changes. Can you help me?
@@abed9712 I don't have a tutorial showing those steps specifically. This is for my thesis and i hope someone would help me this problem. This has always been a major comment of my professor and i cant figure it how to fix it.Thanks for the response.

I have download documents from emails and right parts of documents was covered with shadow and how?
Thank you for watching! There may be a shading format applied to that text. If the documents are editable, you can remove the shading by selecting the effected text and then selecting Home > Shading menu arrow in the Paragraph group > No color. I hope that helps!
Thank you very much for such a helpful video
I'm glad to hear that it was helpful. Thank you for watching!

Do u have some video showing how can name the first pages before the introduction with these (I, II, IV) and so on
Best regards
@@abed9712 I don't have a tutorial showing those steps specifically. However, if you create a section break between the first pages and the introduction, you can apply different page numbering to each section. When you apply the page numbers to the second section, be sure to uncheck "Continue from previous section" in the Page Number Format dialog box. Best of luck!
@@erinwrightwriting thank you sooo much Erin
I did it finally .....
I really appreciate your help
Hi, can you help me why does the last sentence in each page jump to another page and thus the one inch bottom margin doesn't look like one inch? This is for my thesis and i hope someone would help me this problem. This has always been a major comment of my professor and i cant figure it how to fix it.Thanks for the response.
Thank you for watching! Unfortunately, many things can cause text to move to the next page, so I can't pinpoint the source of your issue. However, I recommend selecting the Home tab > Paragraph group dialog box launcher > Line and Page Breaks tab > and then make sure "Keep with next" is not selected. I wish you all the best with your thesis!
Im using landscape and texbox but I want narrow margins and it doesnt work.
