this album review is late because i had to perform some dark magic to stop the video from instantly getting copyright claimed by bighit entertainment LOL there's literally 4 entire minutes worth of BTS' music in this video because i wanted to show you guys the various parts i was talking about. i somehow accomplished that . . . scary. anyway, if i were to do another K-pop review as someone who doesn't care about K-pop, what group would you recommend?
He’s actually how a non bts fan is supposed to be like, not just offending their looks, he doesn’t call them names or anything like that, he just doesn’t like their music but thx for being honest
i didnt like bts up until like legit a few days ago and even then i was shocked at how much people hated them like wow??? Like they are all very good looking the worst thing I said about them was that I couldn't tell them apart XD ( i can now lol ) but people really love to hate on them for no reason like can they stop
@@xxxxx8891 true! But sometimes there are some songs that i think would be perfect with their natural voices, I think they put too much effort on the autotune.
When I hear of a "kpop react", this is exactly what I hope to see rather than those fake ones that pretend to enjoy and be loud and obnoxious. He's not hating on them, he's just genuinley expressing how he feels. No one has to like the song and shouldn't be forced too. Same goes to the opposite side. No need to throw uneccessary hate if you can't backup your reason for hating it. Other than that, I really enjoyed this video!
@@soonidoognidori8477, nor does BTS lol, but yea. I actually don't mind the autotune in this album as much anymore (at first it was a little too much) because my ears have grown used to the album and all the songs are always on repeat :)
He was wrong about one thing: ARMYs appreciate the fact that he did his research and gave BTS a fair shake. His opinions are his own and we may disagree but we respect his opinion because it was incredibly well-informed.
Right! So many people judge them based off toxic fans or their most poular songs without taking the time to get to know the boys themselves or their music. Even if people don't like it they shouldn't just openly disrespect. Some people are just blatanly rude and racist and it's disgusting. They have a huge superiority complex when it comes to k-pop and it makes me upset because not all music in the industry is that bad. Believe it or not I wasn't really into k-pop either. I thought it was manufactured and fake, but when I took the time to research I ended up liking a lot more songs than I expected. I just think people shouldn't open their mouths unless they're actually educated. So many people speak off prejudice and it kinda stings.
we stan a man who, even though he doesn’t like bts, took the time research translations for the songs, familiarized himself with all the members, in order to give an honest review
@@lastcoloroftherainbow9060 Aren’t they just normal questions to ask celebrities? And armies always ship BTS members together so the interviewer was trying to shed some light on it. And @Kiriuu it’s just a mistake yes the interviewer should know who each of them are because it’s their job. It’s an accident, a mistake right? Seems kinda toxic from y’all
@@craftypixel7992 The point is that all this wouldn't happen if the interviewers did a minimum of research. Those were normal questions to ask for the first 2 or 3 times but it's just lazy after the 1000th time. It's ok to make mistakes but it's just annoying that so many interviewers don't give a fuck about bts and don't even spend a second of their time to get into them a little bit. I mean thats literally what they get paid for.
The whole album reflect his inner battle way on the beggining of his carrer, its very depth, talks about his anxiety and other issues. I hope he do a review. The reason I like BTS, its because of Suga, I first hear a couple of songs of BTS and got interested in him, found his mixtape and that was it.
To be honest, I’m sad that we have people in this fandom who can’t take criticism. Your video is respectful, and it’s obvious that you put a lot of time into making it. It’s a shame that some people are immature and feel the need to “protect” bts, even when what you’re saying isn’t hateful. THANK YOU for making an in depth review with constructive criticism.
They sound alright. I could jam on it, but I am a dance music fanatic. I cannot bring myself to like the group though.. because of the cultism. It is a shame really.
I love the construction though. The album is written in precisely the same way I write.. everything. They even use similar terms, I think that I have written this album before in fact. Of course, it is not them writing it.
@@IfmoneycanbuyhappinessIwntall You are allowed to be an exception. However, you would have to he seeing the programming at work to avoid falling into the traps presented. OmG like 2 years ago I stop being an army and last month I heard they dropped a new album so I checked it out, and when I tell you it was an emotional roller coaster, it really was, the whole album was a masterpiece the only problem was "dynamite" and the Auto-Tune on some of yoongi raps which I'm not surprised because most if not all of the boy groups I "stan" now uses Auto-Tune alot in their songs now(I feel like it's going to be the new trend in the kpop industry) but after all this time they still have this special "gem" in their music considering the fact how huge they are now, but I think I'm going to go back to being an army...
@@simpalert2437 yeah dynamite was autotuned a lot, but I was thinking maybe because, it's a full English song, and it was hard for them to sing in English completely Also, glad you're back to the fandom 💜
@@simpalert2437 I liked dynamite, but ppl act like it’s their best song. Honestly dynamite is one of their most generic songs, it gives me those highschool musical vibes just something that the western audience (mainly America) will EAT up and boy they did. But I feel like they have so many more great songs than dynamite. Also, I can’t even listen to it anymore, it got so overplayed I just can’t😭😭😭 but ofc everyone is entitled to their own opinions
@@Plut0h0bi_ ngl dynamite did make me really happy when I first listen to it, I heard that is wasn't produced nor, written by them and they also had second thoughts about putting it out but they wanted army to be happy so they gifted them that as a "present", they themselves didn't know that dynamite would go well or big as it is now lol, I agree that it was generic but it's seem like people really loved it, they also got alot of new fans aswell during that era.
HOW ? Map 7 lowkey sucks (the autotune is so annoying, BigHit is doing it with TXT too and it doesn't sound good) Persona had better side tracks and the MV was better
AD I agree, if people could be just a bit more open minded I feel like everyone would be able to experience new things and enjoy things that you never thought of, but since not everyone is like that, there's definitely trashy people like Shallon Lester for example who completely ignored their actual music and was just referring them as women and saying other things. But I really appreciate D'Angelo for not doing that 🙂.
Yes, with BTS is important for all albums to research the story and all to understand their music :) Also since it is a story and the story has a narrative that is usually in groups of 3 albums, it's hard to understand their work if you listen to them randomly.
@Perla Lopez Gomez How can I say this... there is literally no step they take without someone having something to complain about. As for copy is not entirely true, in art is acceptable as long as it's not exactly the same (the design is what they used).
Because what one considers "informed" may seem to be completely lacking of knowledge to someone else who is more informed, and thus it's subjective. No one is knocking anyone for being honest, but thinking you're informed when you're not? Pretty easy to get mad at if you take the topic at hand seriously.
The fact that he, who is not a fan, took the time to look up the translated lyrics to gain an understanding of the song, makes me feel weirdly proud because there exists fans who don't even do this.
i did that too when i heard bts songs! their music is not for me even though i enjoy it to some extent but they have some great lyrics even though they were in a language i dont know. i respect them for their honesty and sincerity and like them but dont consider them my favourites or whatever. they put their best foot forward and i wont bash them for that. but army stans scare me
Deadpool army stands are definitely extra... I stay clear of them too and I love BTS. I got into them in February but I’m not that obsessed with them...I’m starting to get into other k-pop groups
@@maliablossom7340 These stans need to understand that they are repelling people who may enjoy the music with their behaviour and turning them against the band
i like how even tho he doesn’t like bts he still gave them a chance. he took the time to actually read and understand the lyrics, even figure out which member raps or sings it. i always see people hating on bts’s music when they haven’t even listened to it. people always are going to have their opinion on things and some people are just going to have to deal with it. i like how he still appreciated their vocals and raps
AnDaA 9395 that’s what I was thinking the whole time, I’m glad he’s so respectful compared to haters who completely unacknowledge that BTS is actually talented
hilomona I think that’s the only way to give an exact opinion. Yes, army’s know a lot about BTS but aren’t we biased? He doesn’t like them but he tried to be as neutral as possible and explain his reasoning for not really liking them. By researching he made himself neutral and unbiased in the non army category. If I was giving my opinion on something I didnt like and still try to be respectful, this is exactly what I would do. If that’s not the way you would do it, don’t hate because he was respectful and unbiased in this situation. He knew he didn’t like them but he still gave them a try. We should be grateful. He gave us another pov.
as a bts stan this was so refreshing to watch. i’m so tired of all those other reactors who just blindly praise everything bts do bc they’re too afraid to give their honest opinion in fear of getting hate. thank you for doing your research and being respectful
Thank u thank u. I literally never watch reaction channel things because it always seems that their excitement is exaggerated and fake, but D'Angelo is not afraid to get his honest opinion out In which I'd watch this over any reaction any day.
Amazing Appleness righttt, i feel like he’s so genuine and just a really likeable person in general . i can tell he puts a lot of hard work and effort into all of his videos so i really appreciate him for that
as an army, mad respect for this guy. they’re just not his taste and that is completely okay!! its bold of him to make such a straight forward video. he wasn’t rude about and took the time to learn about them and listen to their music and came to the conclusion their music just wasn’t his taste, and he wasn’t disrespectful towards them or their fans. i wish more people could react like this instead of being so harsh and ignorant!
@@tiffanyli3429 That's funny 😂✨A KOREAN group is globally successful despite the language barrier, being underdogs even in their own country because their company was small and the constant racism they experience in the west, but sure they're overrated. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions✨
fr- i feel like if RM stumbled upon this video, i doubt he will but IF, he’d be taking this constructive criticism in a nice way cuz it’s actually helpful.
To the "army" who disliked the video because they felt attacked. He did his research on all the songs. He searched up the lyrics, knew the backgrounds of each song, the members' vocals and names. He didn't 'slander' the songs, it was more like constructive criticism. Yes, he did say he disliked some parts of a song but he gave a clear (and understandable) reason as to why. There are always going to be people to dislike their songs. We are ALLOWED to dislike their songs. As an army myself, I can confidently say that not all of their songs are 100% hits. I like some songs more than others. That's based on preference, and feeling attacked by it most likely means that you aren't being truthful to yourself. He was being honest and for some of the things he said, I could agree on as well. Thank you for this respectful review.
For example he said he didn‘t liked Dionysus that much and I share his opinion it’s definitely not my favourite song but I still like it and I liked his video and when I feel like I have another opinion about a song it’s okay because that’s your own style
If you can say all this why cant you be a musician why come here blabering nonsence when you can do anything bts songs are the best more than that its better than love songs and sexual songs idiotic
As a BTS fan It’s a breath of fresh air to see someone give real criticism without being racist and disrespectful. Learning their names, understanding their strong and weak points, and going in and reading their lyrics to better understand the song really warms my heart.
See this is proof that MOST armys only crave an honest opinion. We don't need everybody to love BTS. If you put in the effort to correctly learn about them and still feel like you don't like it, that's perfectly fine. We respect that you at least looked into it instead of just going with the majority of haters who don't even listen to BTS.
@@Levyxx okay but ngl though I'm surprised the comment section is as readable as it is? I mostly see a lot of people either saying they don't agree but still respect his opinion which is....pretty okay as it goes since he did have some criticisms that can be a bit subjective (aka just we have different tastes and opinions and that's like...fine?) I haven't seen a lot of people just mindlessly attacking him though, but the comments saying they disagree and explaining why is to be expected
Love Leads um~we don't agree with some of his point doesn't mean we hate him or need him to accept what we r thinking. We r not saying that he can't make these points either. We r just telling our pov on some of the points he made based on our knowledge as a fan of bts. He doesn't really know bts as much as us, he might have just listen to one or two of their recent album, and he obviously can't understand why some songs sound this way. But we have listen to literally every single song they've released and had already analyzed what kind of style is a bts style, what is a habit they have when they are making a song, and what their actual talent is. We disagree with some of the points that he's making and explain why we disagree. We got a right to diagree right? I don't see the problem of this. If we don't say anything and agree with everything he saids, I don't think we can call our self fans of bts anymore😂
@@Levyxx he didnt do complete research though, he thinks that Filter, 0:0, Boy with luv, Moon and other songs are basic, and they all have deep meanings.
As an ARMY with many ARMY friends, I’m constantly surrounded by people who have little to no criticism whatsoever towards the boys. I’ve had other ARMYs get mad at me for disliking some of their songs, someone was even upset with me for disliking ON (feat. Sia) which I thought everyone hated. It was really refreshing to get an outside perspective of their talent and all of the criticism was really valid and well thought-out.
It is hard to be open when with other ARMYs tbh. Just because you do not like a few songs doesn't mean you are an anti or something. You should just like more songs than you dislike...and imo being an ARMY or whatever other fandom means you like them beyond the music as well...they add some value to your life. Otherwise, there is no point. So, if you feel you are an ARMY, it could even be 5 very precious songs and an understanding of the message that you use to inspire you. They should bring some positive influence to your life and that is not really dependent on 50 songs. I do not think die hard rock fans like EVERY single song in their fave band. Just a thought.
@@etherean369 precisely. Most fans of any bands will have some songs they don’t like, that’s normal. Coming back to this video, i noticed that I wasn't objective about BTS. I just loved them so much that i didn't really got into a really objective perspective. Sorry for saying it, but not all of their songs are THE BEST and that's okay! No one of us are perfect and trying different styles helps a lot!
I couldn't not be objective lol. There are some BTS songs I skipped from day 1... and it's totally okay! I love that they experiment & grow...it keeps them fresh AND also exposes them to mistakes & the occasional ISH ISH song. The point is whether or not they have MORE GOOD songs than bad... There are BTS songs I listen to for the message....not the musicality. Others for both. Others cause they sound AMAZING. For me this is more important than a few total skips .
It is impossible to be objective. Saying something or someone is objective can even be dangerous. Many ppl take this man's thoughts as objective and therefore take it as there own without realizing some of his points can also be rightly critized.
I love when someone isn’t a fan of something and has actually listened to/watched it and has reasons. Like legit I hate when ppl say they don’t like something but haven’t given it a chance. We love an opinion from someone wether it’s negative or positive when you actually have opinions from listening to it. Especially when it’s a respectful opinion judging the music not shit talking the artist.

I cant even be mad at this. Any ARMY who are mad can go home. I agree w the auto tune these men can belt out powerful vocals especially jungkook so when they add the auto tune it kills the vibe. I also agree some, if not most of their songs do have that mainstream pop tune thats getting old but BUT i suggest listening to raplines individual mixtapes especially suga's and jhopes. It would be cool to see you review those!
I think the same for way for Halsey too in BWL. As armies we listen to BTS for them, I could care less for any other artists featuring but I still listened respectfully to develop my own criticism

@@benmemon no hahaha its just some reaction videos on youtube. its really obvious that they just want our clout bcs armys like when people praise bts. but they don't actually put them in their playlist, you know what I mean?
I respect a critic who knows how to criticise. Most just hate without even trying to listen and know the lyrics. Kudos for being respectful and honest.
As an ARMY, I actually agree with many of the things you said. Like others said in this comment section, their voices can actually sound autotuned-ish naturally, but I still think sometimes the autotune (not only in this album) is too excessive, unnecessary and at times annoying. But the messages they spread in the majority of their songs and their performance are outstanding, you can't really argue with that. And yeah, Jungkook and Yoongi killed it (yes I'm biased)
I don't agree with his opinions, but I respect that he took the time to do research before he made this video. It shows how respectful he is as a person.
Also, they sing the same in concerts, and they sing the same without auto tune, singing for fun on shows. Also, the twists make the songs more unique, and expresses them equally.
Even though he dislikes bts the fact he did so much research, looked into the lyrics, the message they’re trying portray and said everything he says in this video is subjective that’s impressive.
I mean he’s kinda like my brother, he likes aggressive BTS songs, best of lyrics, he’s new to BTS, the difference is he likes Jimin and Jungkook’s vocals but he like Jimin’s better, and he doesn’t like when songs have “O’s” in it if that makes sense
honestly that's why i love d'angelo,, he put in the work to learn everyone's names and even know each one of them??? i thought these videos were going to have lower quality man, that's more than some commentary channels would ever put in their main videos
I’m so late even though I watched this a year ago Okay so in my opinion, I feel like- and this goes for other groups too- some of BTS’s songs aren’t like a good listen, not because they’re bad songs, but because they’re more performance songs. A big, good example is Dionysus! I like the song, but the vibe doesn’t match me and I don’t really listen to it on like Spotify (song alone). I find myself enjoying and getting the hype when I watch them perform the song lol esp MMA 2019... it was so hype... Anyways yeah this video is old but still I love this commentary and reactions haha
fr, there are certain times where I can’t listen to some songs bc it just doesn’t fit my vibe atm. but I also think that goes to show how diverse and experimental they are
I feel like this applies to a lot of kpop groups lol the music is only part of the whole thing its supposed to be enjoyed with the choreo and a vibe created
I agree dionysus and even not today imo are songs that are meant to be performed, I'd say the same thing goes to ON and even another Kpop Group called Seventeen. I never liked these songs no matter how many times I listened to them, but when I watched the performance I was so mind blown and whenever I hear these songs now the performance comes flashing back to my mind and I get hyped lol.
I can’t even listen to “we are bulletproof: the eternal” because it’s makes me so emotional... I’ve been a part of the ARMY family for several years now and hearing the song and listening to the lyrics make me realize that they’ve been through so much and they’ve grown to become many people’s inspiration and I’m honestly very thankful to them for being who they are
Their live comeback performances don’t have the autotune for obvious reasons, and I think it solves a lot of the problems I had with some of the songs.
Yes! I really enjoyed today's mnet comeback stage. It was sad fans couldn't attend the comeback stage, but I'm glad our guys were able to showcase their live vocals. Because the audience/cheers are usually so loud, they compensate by cranking up the backtrack in their televised/live performances and their voices get drowned.. :( Which is sad because they are such incredible live performers! I recently came through this video. And tbh i absolutely loved the reaction. I hate when youtubers overly sugarcoat their reaction because BTS is infact a big group(and armys are scary). And even though i am an army my views are similar with yours on bwl and black swan. Black swan was such an incredible song but it didn't get the hype that it deserves.
Black Swan is my favorite BTS song, even the mv serves justice to the lyrics, overall from the tune to the lyrics and the mv, this song is a masterpiece 🖤
Celeste Jangmi fr they look so stupid. i’m so embarrassed they’re like that one friend who is so loud AND ANNOYING so people think the whole friend group is annoying.
It's been said so many times - there's no one that dislike BTS stans as much as BTS stans ;) And I can see why... But toxic part of any fandom does give the whole fandom a bad name, because they are usually the loudest and easiest to notice. And since people love to generalize... Oh well. I feel you.
Celeste Jangmi they really do, that’s why everyone calls our fandom toxic when we really aren’t 😔 and I’ve ran into most who are baby armies so I know they don’t really understand how our fandom acts but we just gotta teach them
Actually the title "Ugh" isn't what you think it is. In korean Ugh (욱) is a term used when blood is rushing into someone's face when seeing something infuriating. I recommend watching "BTS - Ugh described by a Korean" by DKDKTV. There's actually a lot of clever metaphors and wordplays that foreigners wouldn't completely understand by just reading the lyric translations :)
@dangelwallace by guy kinda embarrassed himself for insulting the title. One, watch the video to know what the Korean meaning behind "Ugh" is and two, the autotune is for BTS to still stay a kpop band, its what makes in "kpop".
I think Jimin just naturally sounds like that lol. I mean there might be a little auto tune on his songs, but if you watch him live, that’s how he sounds even when he’s talking or that one time where he made up a song on the ‘in the soop’ series lol
I feel like he’s “forced” (not actually but I can’t find a better word) to sing in a high register. And even though he’s fully capable of singing at that register, his vocals sound *way* more prominent and comfortable at a deeper/lower register.
When he was reviewing We are bulletproof: The eternal and he said "If you are a long time fan this song will probably be really moving for you" *I felt that.*
I agree, it should be common and normal. People shouldn't have to be thanked for decent normal behavior lol But I think thanking people for it is a good way to call attention to the fact that it's a problem in the first place. It really a breath of fresh air to watch this video 😤😀✌💜
Yeah but any person hating bts will end up talking about their race in a negative undertone I mean just look at twomad's comments on his video about army attacking him on twitter, racist little shits on there
Why are they thanking him for giving fair criticism? Without racist remarks? Because obviously a LOT of people that don't like BTS seem to be racist towards them in their "criticism.
a lot of people in their reviews don't give fair criticism and call the music bad bc they're asian and explicitly call it "asian crap" so i think this video gave really fair, respectful criticism based on the music and not their race 💜
this album review is late because i had to perform some dark magic to stop the video from instantly getting copyright claimed by bighit entertainment LOL there's literally 4 entire minutes worth of BTS' music in this video because i wanted to show you guys the various parts i was talking about. i somehow accomplished that . . . scary. anyway, if i were to do another K-pop review as someone who doesn't care about K-pop, what group would you recommend?

Coming back to this video, i noticed that I wasn't objective about BTS. I just loved them so much that i didn't really got into a really objective perspective. Sorry for saying it, but not all of their songs are THE BEST and that's okay! No one of us are perfect and trying different styles helps a lot!
Exactly everyone has different taste

Yupppp

Okay so in my opinion, I feel like- and this goes for other groups too- some of BTS’s songs aren’t like a good listen, not because they’re bad songs, but because they’re more performance songs.
