Map of the Soul: 7 is basically bts revisiting their history as a group for seven years. They touch on: The Persona --what they show the public, their image in front of the camera, the love they have for their fans and, and as you discovered, the touch of darkness in the seemingly romantic and happy love The Shadow -- the darkness that comes with what they do, the fear of losing what they love to do, the negative sides of fame and how taxing it is to be more than one person, and the painful history of bts reaching success The Ego -- their pride, their choice to keep moving forward and how despite the hardship and everything they have gone through, they have found themselves and know how to keep moving forward MOTS:7 is a revisit of their history, and they left so many easter eggs for ARMY to find. Like for example, Outro: Ego's instrumental is a remix of Intro: 2 Cool 4 Skool, the first song on their very first album. Interlude: Shadow's remixes Intro: O!RUL8,2?, the first song on their second album, and Intro: Persona remixes Intro: Skool Luv Affair, the first song on their third album and the last album on their School Trilogy. Events referenced in their songs, lyrics that have been repeated, things like Boy With Luv being a reinterpretation of an older song named Boy In Luv, it all just combined together as a beautiful celebration of BTS' history as a seven year old group. The seven being symbolic not only for their time together, the number of members in the group, but also them resigning a seven year contract to continue together.
Omg that was a moment that actually started me looking into bts. 😳 His raw voice in carpool karaoke and Jins part of mic drop had me looking them both up immediately. The rest is history
@@hananana1155 yeah but a lot of people who are regular listeners and not professional singers/vocal coaches usually overlook Jin's vocals because his vocals are often overpowered by maknae line's. Jin gets a lot of credit from professionals but from regular armys, he's sadly underrated as a lot of armys prefer hearing Jungkook or Jimin. I love Jin's vocals so much though, and all their voices are amazing. All I want is for each of them to get the amount of attention they deserve, y'know?
@@leahw8034 i think its because of the amount of lines he gets. im not complaining btw just an observation, since jungkook and jimin are the main and lead vocalists people will automatically pay attention to them more, and between the vocalists tae has deeper voice so he also stands out. He gets appreciated just fine by army imo, but if you compare that to the appreciation for the other 3 it's a bit less, still i think he's definitely not underrated at all. it's a bit frustrating but im used to it, and whoever is ignoring him... it's their loss actually
To add to it, the reference to the 7 is because last year (when the album was released) was the 7th anniversary of BTS, since debut. BTS has said that 7 is a special number for them: 7 members, 7 years since debut, and they wanted to create a really personal and big album. Also, in k-pop there's this kind of "curse" that groups don't last 7 years or more, and BTS wanted to proof that they can and they will....They already celebrated they're 8th anniversary. As a personal opinion: when I heard the album and researched the meaning behind all the songs and lyrics, and watched the interviews and MV, I felt that it was: 1-In a way a statement to everyone else that they know and love each other individually and as a group and they enjoy and want to continue what they have. Also reinforce that BTS is 7 and the love they have for ARMY. 2-In other way, I feel it was kind of a "finally" in the sense of "let's give it more than our all, in case this is our last album", because: a) their contract ended that year (not saying it was not going to be renewed but just mentioning that) b)Jin (the oldest) was supposed to go to mandatory military service at the end of last year, and Suga this year so, it was going to be a while until all of them where together again, if they decided to continue after military service from all the members. The point 1 was reinforced for me when they continued throughout the year to say that they prepared their biggest production so far for the tour and that ARMY needs to see it. and when Suga was away for his surgery and they left a space for him in every single performance and made sure to mention him every chance they could. The point 2 was reinforced after BE, when the law (also known as the BTS law) to allow artist to delay their enlistment only two days before Jin's birthday and due date to enlist (to this day the only artist that can apply to it is BTS, but that's other topic 😅), allowing BTS to remain together more time and have time to decide if they enlist together or by age, as custom. Sorry for the long post. I wrote this late at night, and it might have grammar errors, please excuse those, English is my second language, I'm from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴and a proud ARMY of course 😂💜 PS: Fun fact: I discovered you from your Little Mix reactions. Loved those as well. 🎉
"Friends" is a track about jimin and Tae's friendship. They're both born on the same year 1995 and both since they were trainees ,were with each other going to the same school, travelling and living together. Dumpling incident is about one of their fights, they didnt talk for 2 week and now they talk about as a joke . (Its pretty funny) Jimin gave Tae a dreamcatcher since he was having nightmares. He hangs it in his room. And they were together for 7 years since their debuted to the time this album came out. It's a very warm song about their friendship, they refer to each other as soulmates.
ooh interesting :0 i interpreted it more like a question, one he doesnt finish, one that reveals the more hesitant side of himself... like he doesnt know what or who he wants to be. which opposes the callback "I wanna be me" and the whole idea that he wants to be famous, yet doesnt, because he shows a mask of himself, and still wants to be himself. so he's still trying to find a middle ground between the two :D
most people want to get to know their faces or visual when they first get introduced to BTS. I feel like you’re getting to recognize them by their voices first, I think it’s pretty awesome!!! Great review!
@@melaniejj4479 you’re right 🤗 I think if we were to give him a picture of the boys tho I’m not sure if he could figure out who is who lol but I think it probably easier for him to point out who is singing if he simply listening to their song even without the color coded lyrics idk 😅 just my thought
Yes, SUGA has alter ego Agust D. He uses it when releases solo work. As Agust D he has 2 self-produced mixtapes: "Agust D" (2016) and "D-2" (2020).I wouldn't say Agust D is agressive, he is very real and deep. As he himself said "I can openly express myself and show a more raw side to myself as Agust D"
I feel like Agust D is only aggressive in a few songs, specifically the title tracks in music videos, the bsides in the other hand are VERY personal and introspective, but he can be aggressive with it, like in The Last and My Dear Friend, which are both VERY VERY sad and dark songs, but the delivery is like the type of emotional aggressive type, where his voice breaks and he sounds like he is about to cry from it.
Suga is very good at bringing emotion in his work, both the audience and himself being such an honest, raw person who had a hard upbringing, he brings so much emotion in his personal work, he has also said writing about these memories help him process and cope
“Thirsty for the desert” is a reference to thier song “Sea.” It makes sense in the context of that song. This whole album was kind of in honor of thier seven year anniversary and you actually find references or repeated lyrics to old songs in every single song on the album
Filter is actually pretty sad. Jimin sings about how he would literally be anything people want him to be, to the point of erasing himself to "mold" a pretty lie and be loved (this is a direct reference to the song Fake Love and to his other solo song "Lie")
i never thought of this song that way, i thought it was more of him actually accepting that he isn’t just one thing that people told him to be and he actually is a human full of charms and surprises that can impress anyone with whatever they want
@@izzy5908 it's a nice way to look at it. Personally I agree both with you and the comment from op. When he says things like "you're the one who made me" "I can be whatever you want" it's hard to believe that he's talking about his authentic self. It's like he's talking about becoming whatever the fans want, putting on a filter is like putting on a costume to become jimin "the idol" so he can satisfy us. And it's not even filter he chose himself but a filter that he let's us choose. BUT. At the same time. At this point we've gotten to know jimin at least as much as we can as fans. We know that he LIKES to change his style, that whatever he's dressed in, aka whatever filter he puts on, he can embody that filter and truly alter and fit his personality to that style. It doesn't necessarily mean taking away his authenticity because in each filter he is authentic to himself since he becomes that. I think he has embraced having so many sides of him compared to the past and compared to lie which can be understood as hiding away a side of him and feeling helpless. Anyways, filter is a really interesting song that can go both ways or have both meanings at the same time.
The meaning we got from the performance was another one. At the beginning of his career he wanted to look manly and worked hard to act like a macho and stressed himself for being always at the top and appreciated. Then he learned how to embrace his true self and mix the palette (as he said in the lyrics), he wants to be true to himself and be whoever he wants without limits, so having both "feminine" and "masculine" features. And it's linked to the photoshoot in 2019 where he has a tattoo with the femal and male signs mixed on the arm or hand, i don't remember. And he was able to be this charming and gorgeous person thanks to army's love. So he has so many filters and sides of him to show and with whom attract people
Oh, fun fact: the rap line's songs each sampled an intro from one of their first three albums (their Skool Trilogy). Intro: Persona sampled the intro from Skool Luv Affair (their 3rd album), Interlude: Shadow sampled the intro from O!RUL8,2? (their 2nd album) and Outro: Ego sampled the intro from 2 Cool 4 Skool (their 1st album). As the trilogy was all about confronting and subjugating false "self"s (the persona/shadow/and ego) which they'd each respectively over-inflated and identified with, the call back (I think) was about self-reflection and growth as they attempted to find their true selves.
you should definitely watch an explanation video for "ugh" because there are so many cultural references and the writing is beyond genius once you understand it
For this I would recommend you to watch the explanation video from DKDK TV, they are Koreans and help us understand all the cultural things hidden in the song! That would blow your mind!
Love how you broke this album down. I'm a 33 year old dad and my first listen to BTS was also with the BE album. Never really into Kpop but these boys really did that. I loved it, and it has been down the Bangtan rabbit hole for me ever since. Please continue with these album reactions, their discography is immaculate. Can't wait for you to hear the You Never Walk Alone album of the Wings era. It's their best album hands down. If you ever get into knowing the boys more outside their music, I'm warning you, there's no turning back lol. These boys are just something else.
V in Inner Child is talking about him. When he says "You're my boy," it's referring to his younger self. This is a beautiful that always makes me cry :(
Inner Child is about himself, and Friends is about Jimin and V. They both went to the same high school together while they were trainees, and became best friends! When this album came out, they were reaching the 7 year mark as a group. So I think that's why 7 years is mentioned a few times! Moon is about Jin and ARMY. It's a song for us, we're the earth and Jin is the moon that's constantly orbiting us 💜 Another thing, they end with Outro: Ego, because Intro: Persona, Interlude: Shadow, and then Outro: Ego all connect to create the album's narrative. The other album that seems to be a favorite of a lot of ARMY is Love Yourself: Tear!
i’ve always been a music nerd and i always recommended BTS to people and get ignored because they are a boy band but i admired them so much as musicians and artists, it always makes me happy seeing people discover BTS because their music it’s worth it. Ps. i’ve been a BTS fan since 2013 and they keep surprising me and make no me proud
Persona, Shadow, Ego are trilogy from rappers and it is based Carl Jung's psychology. All three songs are written by each rapper and Shadow is also produced by SUGA
Louder than bombs is literally so underrated by even bts themselves until they did an army song quiz in a recent run bts episode.. Finally they found out how much this song is loved by us
I'm so annoyed they STILL refuse to perform it live, wtf? It's a masterpiece! JK said they will perform it if it's what the fans want, then later as you said, the whole group were shocked when they found out how much we love it and said they would perform it for us (offline) but it still wasn't on the setlist at the concert smh. Liars, I'm so sad. Maybe the last chance is Muster but I still doubt it at this point..
We are bulletproof: The Eternal just hits more different when you understand or know BTS' story as a group and as individuals. They had a very humble start (especially they came from a small company) & they truly had a rough journey. They've been mistreated A LOT, looked down, questioned, accused of chart manipulations & plagiarism, and they faced A TON of prejudice. And to see them have this big success &, at the same time, get stronger, I feel happy for them & it just made me want to protect them. Idk lol. Also, there are a lot of songs here that is actually for the fans like Boy With Luv, Moon, and yes, WAB: The Eternal. They're LITERALLY the sweetest people ever.
Also, My Time hits different because Jungkook is the youngest in the band, and you know, it feels like we're all grieving for the lost "normal" time that he feels he's lost in his childhood
I disagree with interpreting it as "grief"... His dialogue expresses acceptance for his lost/rushed childhood and empowerment about his will, actually. "I accept the sacrifices I've had to do, but I do not regret my decisions, I will have time in the future to do so many things, I still got a lot of life to live", this is the tone.
Yeah, of course! Sorry, I was half out of my wits at that time I was writing the comment. I meant to say that maybe in that moment, that feeling he's trying to express in the first part of the song is you know, a sense of nostalgia, not grief. I didn't choose my words right HAHAHAHA. Then it transitions to the second part of the song where the lyrics are slowly taking a turn to what I agree with you on, that feeling of acceptance and moving on to what the future and the present has in store for him. Thanks for bringing this to light, Loba!
@@nicolinetorres8929 Your comment was not offensive... I would say it's a common reaction, to feel sad or wonder about how Jungkook may feel sadness or regret in relation to his teenage years... I disagreed because, I do believe that wasn't what he intended to express... I think there was an intention to express self-confidence on his life decisions and hope for the future, self-reassurance... I think that's why the performance is more bold, "grown up" and sensual too; in order to show how he's passionate about his craft and comfortable with his stardom... But, do I undertand what you are trying to say... In any case, you don't need to apologise. PS: sorry for being redundant.
They ended with Ego since we were all crying our eyes out after We are Bulletproof: The Eternal and they didn’t want to end on a sad note. Also you now understand why there was such outrage when this album wasn’t nominated for a Grammy last year. Thank you so much for sincerely listening and reading lyrics so you can really understand why so many people love them so much. All we ever ask is for people to give them the respect they deserve as musicians.
their use of the "sea/desert" analogy is so extensive in their discography. the concept photos for their "map of the soul tour" featured the members all standing in this never ending puddle. however, when the tour got cancelled, their online concert poster was them in a barren desert. i cried when i saw that photo :(((
Two references you may have missed: 1. "Jamais Vu," is French & is literally the opposite of deja vu. Deja vu is the sensation of something being familiar, although one hasn't actually experienced it before, while jamais vu is the sensation of something being unfamiliar, although it has been encountered previously. 2. Dionysus is the ancient Greek name for the god of wine, excess & art (among other attributes). The Romans called the same god Bacchus. Bonus Fact: Tracks 1-5 are actually re-packaged from their previous mini-album, "Map Of The Soul: Persona." When you mentioned at 41:52 that the last three songs were getting stronger, you were literally referring to the first three new songs from this album. For fans, listening to this album for the first time was incredible! Because we were already familiar with tracks 1-5, "Interlude: Shadow," was a shock to the system (in a good way), setting the stage for the rest of this masterpiece of an album.
"I know the sea will end up as a desert without you" is a reference to their song "sea" which you should definitely check out! And the "you" they are talking about (in most of the songs) is their fans. Without their fans their sea (fame, riches, ...) will become a desert
I'm so glad you liked Jamais Vu! A lot of reactors seem to not think much of it. I listened to the first second of Jamais Vu and was like yep, this is gonna be my favourite song on the album. I looked the lyrics up after listening to the it and almost broke down in the middle of Starbucks. This song was saying everything I was feeling towards my younger self, how sorry I was to her for no longer having a dream to chase and how angry and disappointed she would be in me. I was having a tough time when this song came out and was feeling pretty directionless and everything just felt so pointless. The song sounded like 27 year old me's plea to 17 year old me begging for help so she could could cuss me out and kick my butt into gear and help me out of that slump. The more I thought about that, the sorrier I felt to her. BTS once again managed to put my worries into a single song, expressing perfectly how I felt and made me remember that the things I struggle with are valid and not trivial at all and that I'm not alone :)
Something I feel everyone should know about BTS: they work on songs and structure their albums very consciously and purposefully. There is intention in every choice - from lyrics to composition to breaths to pauses and to the order of songs. Namjoon, who is involved in writing 98% of BTS' songs and has nearly 180 song-writing credits to his name so far, told ARMY once that they're very thankful to us for loving "their children", aka their songs. He's also mentioned how important he considers the structure of albums, that they tell a story, that there is cohesion. They truly consider their music as art and treat it with utmost respect. Without fail, there is purpose behind every song. This is one of the most fundamental reasons as to why they've become so big - they put so much of themselves into their work.
hey oh my literally i just checking your channel and i saw this video lmao FYO "jamais vu" is opposite of the "deja vu" consept 26:45 Its Jin's voice he's doing the high note. And yes there's a live perf for DIONYSUS and its a whole legend 29:09 Suga say "i wanna be rapstar,i wanna be the top..." this is the reference to their first song 'no more dream' 01:07:50 Jimin and V they known as a bestfrienf of each other and 95liners of the group. They've been together for a while.Like they're classmate. They love each other soo much 01:16:50 '7' is the most important number for armys and bts. This album is released in their '7th anniversary'.And this album is the 7th anniversary gift for everyone and just wanna say there are tons of songs that BTS wrote for armies like "Wings,2!3!,Pied piper" or like this. They also have tons of songs about self love
Ugh is about how anger, as an emotion, is necessary sometimes (like to bring about change in the world), but it’s being devalued by malice-filled rage (like haters online). Really interesting song. I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to the album. Thanks so much for taking the time, and for sharing your reaction with us.
Yes such an incredible concept for a song! Michael I recommend you watch (even if just on your own) UGH explained by a Korean to also get some of the Korean and k-pop idol life references in this song.
The sea and desert reference comes up frequently in BTS’ discography. It’s probably most distinctive and easy to understand if you listen to BTS’s hidden track ‘Sea’ on the physical album Love Yourself: Her. It really deals with their struggles.
“We are Bulletproof:The Eternal” is indeed a song for the fans. A backstory for this is that RM even said he cried while writing this song. In the beginning, BTS were the underdogs of the industry, they were from a very small company, they were treated so maliciously, were cut out of broadcasts, falsely accused of sajagi, had antis trend no.1 hashtag in Twitter just because they weren’t from a big company and were rising to fame So basically BTS and ARMY has been through SO MUCH throughout their career, which created such a strong bond between BTS and ARMY. BTS’s official First Fan song was actually called “2!3!” which is so sad because it could have been about being thankful for the fans but it was about BTS telling themselves and army’s to let the painful past go and hope for better days(I cried listening to this). So the “we are bulletproof:eternal” song is talking about how much we’ve been through and now “together” we are bulletproof :)
For UGH!, I heavily recommend watching the DKDKTV 'Explained by a Korean' video on it as the song makes reference to a lot of Korean idioms and phrases that don't translate that well into english or a foreigner wouldn't be aware of. These guys do a really good job at shining a light on the deeper layers to many BTS songs and other kpop songs that foreigners often miss because of things not being able to properly translate and/or the cultural context of the phrases.
The other thing about My Time is that Jungkook joined BTS when he was a child (like 15 or something) and he is the youngest member so he has lost out on a lot of childhood and that’s why the lyrics of his solo are even all the more sad (but still one of my favs on the album and he really flexxed with the vocals on that one).
BTS's story into stardom is such an inspiring rags to riches story. They had to face everything from being on the edge of bankruptcy, prejudice, racism to death threats.
I am genuinely so impressed that you grasped many key concepts and themes of this very long album despite being relatively new to BTS. You had very insightful thoughts as well. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
In moon jin sees himself as the moon and us army as the earth, and yes we are bulletproof the eternal is for army as well, there are a lot of songs in their discography where they are talking about army and i just find it so beautiful, honestly I’ve never seen an artist that loves their fans more than they do, that’s why armys and bts bond is so special
You are literally one of the Greatest reactors I've ever seen so far. Lyrical interpretation, Vocals and Rapline appreciation and you show sincere impression to each of BTS members and their art. Please do more BTS Album reactions in future. Thank you so much for your time 💜
Jamais Vu is such a personal favorite of mine. I feel a connection with the lyrics in my life. I absolutely love this album! I honestly never tire of listening to it. To be honest, the lyricism in these songs hit me hard. Each one is so relative and relatable. This is one of the reasons I love BTS. The depth of their perception on life…real life through their music. I enjoyed your reaction. I think you understood a great bit despite not knowing all the history. Looking forward to seeing you learn more about our amazing 7!
To add, I like to describe the concept of Jamais Vu as the opposite of Deja Vu. Deja Vu is something you know you’ve never encountered before feeling familiar, Jamais Vu is something you know you’ve encountered before feeling unfamiliar.
27:00 that was Jin! Fun fact, he said he got into the studio and the producer literally told him to just scream, and he came out with that! Mind blown, he’s so talented. Glad you listened to mots:7 - it’s personally my favourite bts album 💜
26:59 - that high pitched scream was by Jin :) It was added as an after-thought one day when the producer hailed Jin down, and told him to scream into the mic at their studio as an ad-lib before they finalised the song. Stroke of genius I must say. and YES, the live version of Dionysus is super good. Jhope was one of the main producers for Dionysus.
Often when you read the lyrics of some bts songs, you think that they are romantically singing about a significant other, when in reality, it is often dedicated towards the ARMY which gives the song a whole new perspective (for example: mikrokosmos and let go). That is one of the many things that I love about BTS, that they show just as much appreciation and love towards their fans as we do to them.
Suga's solo work usually goes under his alter ego Agust D and I highly recommend his second and most recent album D-2. It's honestly one of my favorites of the year (and the music video for the track Daechwita is genius imo). While BTS have a ton of artistic freedom as a group, they still have to fit their style, lyrics and message to match what they want to promote as group so Agust D gives him a lot more flexibility to cover his innermost feelings and personal style.
a lot of jhope's songs center around his "what-ifs" and regrets about becoming an idol, especially in "ego" and "daydream." if you notice there are pretty clear themes around each of the individual members' solo works that are super interesting to follow as they produce more songs
SUGA talks in many songs about this conflict inside him and fight between his different personas. He is also not afraid to openly share about his experience with mental health. He touched this subject slightly in BTS songs, but he really opens up in his solo albums/mixtapes. Since you like rap and deep lyrics it will be very interesting if you'll do a reaction to his solo mixtapes Agust D and D-2, released under the name Agust D
The number "7" is significant in Korean culture; there are seven of members in BTA; they have performed as BTS for seven years since debut; 'idol' groups still together after seven years is rare; revisited a lot of their older songs and linked to this album; also represents personal and group journey these past years. Needless to say, "7" as a album is intentional as is all of BTS work. Appreciate your enthusiasm to learn, and enjoy your attention to the lyrics and sonics exercised by both the vocalist and the rappers.
For UGH!, DKDKTV has a great analysis from a Korean's perspective because there are cultural references and Korean language sound effects that made a LOT more sense to me after I watched that explanation. I love your album reactions, and I can't wait for the Love Yourself reaction to come! MOTS:7 is my personal favorite, though, but all of their albums I've listened to so far (I haven't listened to all of them yet, either) are incredible.
I just spent 1 hr, 23 minutes & 42 seconds experiencing MotS:7 (again) through your reaction - what an honour! That you were able to grasp soo much from your first listen & share so many of your own thoughts & understandings along the way really enhanced this reaction. Thank you for taking time to do this Michael... 💜 sending heaps of 'borahae' luv from this ARMY here in New Zealand.
If ANY ARMY are feeling down or having some burnout stuff due to "kpop" I'm gonna suggest this video to them. Going through this album with you for the first time was absolutely joyful and therapeutic. Thank you 💜
as someone who has been distant recently w/ bts, kpop in general because of personal events that have happened yes this was truly therapeutic and heartwarming, i even got emotional
@@jocey1453 I get ya. The last 12+ months have been trying to say the least. Watching this felt like finding Bangtan for the first time again. The joy, the pain and the tiny regret of not finding them earlier. But they always turn up in your life when you need them the most.
I totally agree. This reignited my love for this album. Listening to the whole thing in order hits different than listening random songs on my play list.
You should definitely listen to the love yourself album series next. Please make sure to listen to them in order: “Love Yourself: Her”, “Love Yourself: Tear”, and the last one “Love Yourself: Answer”. The three albums tell a beautiful story about the journey of learning to love yourself. The last album has a lot of songs that were released in the first two albums of the series, but it also has a few originals that are very important to the story of the loving yourself journey, like “Epiphany” and “Answer: Love Myself”. Please give the albums a listen!
I’ve been waiting for this one… TURN IT UP!! No but fr, you’ve just entered a rabbit hole. I fully dived into BTS in the beginning of summer and I’ve been literally entrapped since hahahaha. You should watch interviews and run BTS episodes :)
I dived in shortly after Butter release, after hearing Dynamite last year. Unfortunately my sheltered American life I just missed out until then. But I LOVE their old stuff, the depth of the lyrics and storyline is just fascinating.
Same thing happened to me - I got into BTS shortly after the Butter music video came out (was randomly recommended to me on UA-cam considering I had never listened to any other kpop related music) and now I’ve watched all the music videos, gone down theory rabbit holes, purchased all the physical albums, watched all the run bts and bon voyage episodes along with the 3 docuseries (burn the stage, bring the soul, break the silence). And I’m loving the ride!
@@imbishatiwa8786 yeah I’m almost caught up on run BTS and then I’m going to watch In The Soop and Bon Voyage. And to think it all started with the ON kinetic manifesto and the James Corden flinch video 😭
@@nbhuiyan567 Run BTS is so much fun and hilarious - you really get to know the members and their goofy/fun sides and just appreciate the friendship that they have. I would definitely suggest watching Bon Voyage first (over In The Soop). Bon Voyage is a lot of fun and it feels like you're travelling with them (and there are plenty of funny moments and adventures). In The Soop is a lot more chilled because they basically go to a vacation house near a river somewhere in South Korea and they get to chill for a week so there aren't any missions or "adventures" they have to go on and they never leave the compound or the surrounding area so its a lot more slow because they literally just hang out and have free time the entire show - its definitely still worth the watch (and its nice to see the guys just hang out and rest because they work so hard) but Bon Voyage is definitely a lot more fun and chaotic like Run BTS :)
@@LisaMT1218 hahahaha same, my sister was like “hey watch this” and sat me down to watch the ON kinetic manifesto when it came out and I remember being so impressed but I still (for some reason) didn’t get into them, and then I saw them on James Corden for the flinch challenge and the carpool karaoke and I was like omg they’re hilarious… thus the rabbit hole.
The genuine appreciation for Jamais Vu makes me so unbelievably happy. It's my favourite song on MOTS7 but it's so criminally underrated compared to the more popular tracks
I haven't listened to MOTS 7 in a while and this has come back around at just the right moment. Thank you for taking the time to review and discuss this! I love hearing your thoughts and insights.
Not only all members participated in songwriting, two of them also participated in producing. SUGA produced Interlude: Shadow and Respect. Jimin participated as producer in Friends
@@BusanS no, he didn't. Credits from physical album: Produced by Pdogg (Pdogg, J-Hope, Supreme Boi, RM, Suga, Roman Campolo) Producers are outside the brackets, songwriter - inside
They only have a few songs about "romance", and most of them are on their earlier albums. Most of their songs hint at a "romance" perspective (like "Boy With Luv"), but they are actually talking about the fans in general and not a girl as you could assume by the lyrics. Literally like 70% of their songs are about/dedicated to the fans (no girl). One of the many reason why I love them.
@@lu-13 yes, of course. I didn't say they don't write about love. It's just that their songs aren't that much about love since Wings and that's nice compared to a bunch of other groups.
@@jasminmel6387 it's not a fan song but a LOT of songs they make and then when you watch the behind the scenes rm says that he directed it to the fans it's definitely not 70% of their song but 8-10 is is not as much
I think they definitely have someone in mind when they wrote these romantic lyrics and not army :)) we have songs like moon, mikrokosmos and magic shop which are definitely written with armys in mind but we also have converse high, just one day, dna, love maze that can only be written when thinking about someone u have romantic feelings for.. and theres nothing wrong with singing about love btw
In Filter Jimin is kinda calling us out on the fan experience, since we dont know them personaly and only have access to the bits that they show (which is right and healthy since they are so famous there should be boundaries to keep them safe), we as fans end up filling UP the empty spaces with our own dreams and expectations of who they should be (the "filters) and since he has no control over how this goes he is simply addressing that he is very aware of It and almost taunting us to keep going snsnsnsnsnss i think this song shows how self aware they are of how they are seen and their impact in the fans lives. If you see this coment I advise you listen to the audio first and then read the translation on doolset afterwards because the lyrics videos are pretty confusing and misleading sometimes.
bts went through a really hard time with burn out and pressure from their growing fame around the beginning of 2018 and much of this album deals with that and them dealing with it and coming through it to be where they are now. under all the polish it's a very personal album. just about every song relates to it in some way bts were in their 7th year together when this album came out, for reference. they've technically been together longer but counting from their debut...and yes we are bulletproof the eternal was for us :)

This album is such a masterpiece... Like straight up no skips . It shows so much of emotions and feelings, hurt, anger , loneliness, nostalgia, determination, happiness, healing that just listening to it makes you feel content and comforted .
Their "Wings" album is absolutely iconic. "Love yourself: tear" and "The best moment in life pt.2" are also supreme! For all of these three I prefer over map of the soul: 7 even though it is so fuckin good. Those albums are just something else. Thank you for the reaction! It was so entertaining.
the 3 albums you mentioned are also my top 3, though i could also add the most beautiful moment pt.1 and o!rul8,2? into the mix personally... bts simply do not have a bad album.
@@mic5104 we have to disagree there, wings is one of their best albums, conceptually and musically. it singlehandedly changed how the industry creates concepts and how much effort is put into them. plus the solos are all divine and tracks like lost, 2!3!, outro: wings and bst are just.. so good.
@@forg_tful. conceptually it's great but musically it's not their best at all. don't get me wrong i don't think the songs are terrible, but bts has far surpassed that album in overall quality a long time ago. we're just gonna have to agree to disagree.
Haha the lyrics that they were talking about the dumpling fight (it's a funny story about bts and army) and jimins pinky (we laugh at jimin because he bas small fingers lol) only the soulmates jimin and v can fight in a song is such a funny way haha
I'm just gonna write this comment and continuously add to it as i watch the video - first idk if you noticed but Boy with luv the music video version and the audio version differs the MV version you can hear halsey in the "oh my my" part only and a little in the back singing korean with them but the audio version she sings more in the chorus and also sing korean with them - about dionysus he is the god of fertility and wine as you read and they mentioned "reborn" or "born twice" it's because dionysus was born two times once from his mother's womb and the second is from zeus's thigh. also in korean yeSUL is art and SUL is alcohol so they're playing with words saying they're drunk on art! BTS's wordplay is just insane. and the amazing high note you asked about at the end was jin! - Shadow: this is purely from my interpretation of the lyrics but from what I understood and based on their older songs i've heard and read the lyrics to, the " I wanna be a rapstar, i wanna be the top -----" they're like the wishes of his past younger self like these are the things he wanted and dreamed of and then the rest of the song is like his pov or his feelings after he became this successful he realized how lonely and scary it is at the top and how after all these years it took him to get here all of that can go down in an instant that's why he said "his leap can be his fall" or "his plunge" which is sad. BTS always said how tiring for their mental health the fame is and it made them anxious at times and i'm happy they are open about these type of topics with us. - Black swan: now this is one of my favorite songs by them it's so good but the lyrics is just sad. for black swan BTS made this song based on a quote said by the iconic dancer Martha graham which is " A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and the first death is the more painful" they took this quote and applied it on them saying that they're scared of losing their love for music and performing saying how it would kill them it would feel like their first death and the more painful one at that and it shows how much love and appreciation BTS has for music, performing and art overall and it makes me respect them so much more - UGH!: honestly this would be a little hard for me to explain if you want the perfect explanation watch dkdktv's video of UGH! explained by koreans. but anyways yeah i'm gonna give a brief explanation of only what i know which is UGH in korean the song name is more like "ook" which is when someone gets angry and lose temper all of a sudden and in this song they're criticizing the society especially the internet keyboard warriors and they're saying that it's okay to get angry it's a human nature and feeling BUT instead of putting that anger towards celebrities and people you don't and are jealous of put that anger into good use like fight for a cause fight for something good instead of attacking someone. especially in korea they like attacking celebrities for the smallest things and a lot of celebrities end up taking their lives so in j-hope's line he says that this misdirected anger can cause someone pain or it can make someone hopeless or it can become a bad memory for that someone or it can take someone's life... also after that suga in a mocking way says " what's wrong with getting hate you make so much money why are you whining you should put up with that" and RM says "if you made me do it i would endure it all" these are all things the koreans netizens LOVE saying to celebrities because to them these celebs make so much money so they deserve it it's only "fair" and these celebs have to put up with different types of slanders and accusations because they make money and that if these celebs put these netizens in their places they would endure it because they would make money it's so so sad and fvcked up how people not just koreans think of some celebrities and people with platform in general. Friends: Jimin and tae (v) are besties literally they were born on the same year as well and they went to high school together and they knew each other for like 10 years now since all 7 members have been living together for that long and their friendship is just so so cute!! the dumpling incident is when they fought over when to eat the dumplings tae said before practice because he was so hungry (he was filming a drama as well at the time so he was super hungry because he didn't have time to eat properly due to busy schedule) and jimin said after practice with the rest of the members so they got into an argument about that and then i think they made up two weeks later they now think of how funny of an incident it was because it was like in 2016 it was long ago lol. the dreamcatcher was because tae had a nightmare and he went to jimin's room to sleep because he got scared and the next day jimin got him a dreamcatcher saying it's to have only good dreams, the little pinky thing jimin has a really small pinky it's cute so they joke about it a lot - WABP: the eternal: yes this song is for fans, idk if you know but BTS stands for BulleTproof boy scouTs so yeah they have bulletproof in their name so when they first debuted in 2013 as bangtan sonyeondan (the meaning in korean) koreans made fun of their name that's why in joon's verse he says " our name, that everyone laughed at, that we were once embarrassed by this is a proof made of iron, bulletproof" meaning they were embarrassed of it and hated it but now they take pride in it also the whole song have mentions of people hating them like "throw stones at me" " we're not afraid anymore" it's because BTS are literally the most hated group the second they debuted the hate against them was strong for no reason at all just because they came from a small and broke company but still had decent success so bigger companies considered a threat to their groups so the industry literally blocked them on tv, cut their performances and literally humiliated them on tv because they were doing well without big companies and media backup which hurted their pride so a lot of false accusations were thrown against bts to the point they had to go to court to clear their name and keep in mind they were super young at that time jungkook was literally 15/16 and had to go through all that it messed with them mentally now they're the biggest group in the world so koreans the public loves and respect them NOW but kpop stans still have this weird and deep hatred for them which is super weird. also even tho they're the biggest artists in korea (and the world obviously) but because they made their small and broke company one of the biggest and richest companies in korea and did that without needing the media support so the media in korea have a thing against them so they don't report most of their achievements but if a singer from the big companies (now they're smaller than bts's company but they still have stronger media support because connections) wears a limited edition shoes or bag you would see that in the front pages it's messed up really :( also bts have two older songs that were made in their debut year which are bulletproof pt:1 and pt:2 ig you can say the eternal is the conclusion of these songs in a way. lmaooo i wrote a lot i just had to explain some of the songs, also final note yes 2020 was their 7th year together that's why the album is named 7 and that's why there were a lot of mentions of 7 years, this album is amazing i really love it. also the other album most people say they like is love yourself: tear all their albums are insanely good tho. and omg I really love Zayn as well!!
Wow, I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate your comments as someone who is new to BTS. map of the soul 7 is such an amazing album that didn't get the shine it deserved releasing only a month before going into lockdown, there concert tour being postponed... it coulda been one hell of a year for them, and because of that BE hits even harder
Once you get to know the members, you will also understand Ego’s positivity because J-Hope (aka Hobi) is known as the sunshine of the group so that sound is 100% him and I think that was the perfect way to end such an emotional and personal album.
Hopefully we get a BTS Sound Cloud listening session in the future. They have a lot of really good songs that aren't released on paid streaming platforms that are released there.
Suga and his vulnerability is one of the things that keeping me loyal to BTS for over 3 years. Not only seen by his musics and lyrics, but he being honest about how he sees life/the world in the most beautiful yet ugliest perspective. Suga's darkness is just my other persona that I never knew its existence 😂
@@clarityvm the length of these reactions + his sincere enjoyment have made it a worthwhile splurge for me so far! maybe wait for a few more vids to drop before paying and binge them? :) they mentioned posting live performance, MVs and some of the “docu-style” vids sometime soon too on the patreon. i’m really looking forward to them.
love your breakdown and appreciation of the lyrics. i've heard this album lots of times but i enjoyed going thru each song with you again. great reaction. thanks.
The sadest thing about 7 is that a whole tour based on that album had to be cancelled. Can you imagine all these gems of songs live? We got an online concert which was great and pulled millions in but of course couldn't replace live, and the boys already worked so hard to prepare :-( You really need to watch them live, they are one of the best performers and the only artists that I have seen being like super grateful for their fans. They might be at the top but they don't take none of that for granted. In nearly all of their concerts at least one of them is shedding tears in their speech. They feel all of that really deep and we feel with them.
for inner child, V actually tried to do something different. all of his previous solos were dark and had his deeper tones. he wanted to do something brighter.
@@bethzymaciasramirez5325 i meant about vibes and the vocal tones. stigma had high notes but it still had dark tones. it was mostly in the minors. also kindly dont refer to me as a 'she' if you dont know my pronouns!!
they're been using the sea/desert metaphor since their song "sea" (which was an hidden track in the "love yourself: her" album), so i recommend reading the lyrics to that song if you want to understand the full context :) they've used this metaphor a few times since then and they keep adding to it each time, it's really interesting! (the lyrics are on doolset's website)
Awesome reaction. I really enjoyed this. This is the first video I've watched of yours and it's nice to see such a positive reaction. It's great that you're so openminded. Many people will recommend some intro videos on BTS but I find a lot of them are out of date. I think it's best to just discover the members through their music and interviews. I think the most important thing to know about BTS is that's they're all very talented, hard working and consider each other as family. They've been through a lot of ups but also a lot of downs throughout their career together. That has really cemented their bond and they are very appreciative of their fans, ARMY.
Jimin and V have been best friends since their teens. They went from being friends going to school together to the biggest band in the world. So, this is just a journey of their friendship. The lyrics are full of references of things that happened between them that they have publicly told us fans.
That scream in Dionysus was Jin. He said the producer asked him to literally scream into the mic haha. But it is so good.
whenever i heard his scream, i always remember his scream in the run bts epidose 11.. 😂
I can imagine him literally screaming his lungs out Jin is crazy!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
thats why he got the nickname rock jin :) btw the adlibts of Dionysus are jin, not just the scream the high notes too.

Map of the Soul: 7 is basically bts revisiting their history as a group for seven years. They touch on:
The Persona --what they show the public, their image in front of the camera, the love they have for their fans and, and as you discovered, the touch of darkness in the seemingly romantic and happy love
The Shadow -- the darkness that comes with what they do, the fear of losing what they love to do, the negative sides of fame and how taxing it is to be more than one person, and the painful history of bts reaching success
The Ego -- their pride, their choice to keep moving forward and how despite the hardship and everything they have gone through, they have found themselves and know how to keep moving forward
MOTS:7 is a revisit of their history, and they left so many easter eggs for ARMY to find.
👏

He did it so effortlessly too.
1. MotS7 deserved a Grammy.
2. Jin’s vocals, ad libs, energy, contributions are SERIOUSLY underrated.
jin vocals are not underrated tho, he literally is the most critically acclaimed vocalist of the group
@@leahw8034 yes and its annoying
@@JackInTheBox0294 it is
@@leahw8034 i think its because of the amount of lines he gets. im not complaining btw just an observation, since jungkook and jimin are the main and lead vocalists people will automatically pay attention to them more, and between the vocalists tae has deeper voice so he also stands out. He gets appreciated just fine by army imo, but if you compare that to the appreciation for the other 3 it's a bit less, still i think he's definitely not underrated at all. it's a bit frustrating but im used to it, and whoever is ignoring him... it's their loss actually

Friends is a song that is about Vmin's friendship. They call each other soulmates and they are best friends. So that song is so special to me.
Vmin = V and Jimin

As a personal opinion: when I heard the album and researched the meaning behind all the songs and lyrics, and watched the interviews and MV, I felt that it was:
1-In a way a statement to everyone else that they know and love each other individually and as a group and they enjoy and want to continue what they have. Also reinforce that BTS is 7 and the love they have for ARMY.
2-In other way, I feel it was kind of a "finally" in the sense of "let's give it more than our all, in case this is our last album", because:
a) their contract ended that year (not saying it was not going to be renewed but just mentioning that)
b)Jin (the oldest) was supposed to go to mandatory military service at the end of last year, and Suga this year so, it was going to be a while until all of them where together again, if they decided to continue after military service from all the members.
I wrote this late at night, and it might have grammar errors, please excuse those, English is my second language, I'm from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴and a proud ARMY of course 😂💜
PS: Fun fact: I discovered you from your Little Mix reactions. Loved those as well. 🎉
26:45 It's Jin's voice he's doing the high note. And yes there's a live perf for DIONYSUS and its a whole legend

I hope he saw this comment. Jin high note kings
Jin is on fire in Dionysus. The way he jumps from high note to deep voice so quickly 🔥🔥
"Friends" is a track about jimin and Tae's friendship. They're both born on the same year 1995 and both since they were trainees ,were with each other going to the same school, travelling and living together.
Dumpling incident is about one of their fights, they didnt talk for 2 week and now they talk about as a joke . (Its pretty funny)
Jimin gave Tae a dreamcatcher since he was having nightmares. He hangs it in his room.
And they were together for 7 years since their debuted to the time this album came out.
It's a very warm song about their friendship, they refer to each other as soulmates.
I love their friendship so much.
29:10 here, suga finishes his line with "i wanna BE", there is no curse word there. he just wants to be, to exist as he is.
Which ties in really well with BE! Coincidence?
ooh interesting :0 i interpreted it more like a question, one he doesnt finish, one that reveals the more hesitant side of himself... like he doesnt know what or who he wants to be. which opposes the callback "I wanna be me" and the whole idea that he wants to be famous, yet doesnt, because he shows a mask of himself, and still wants to be himself. so he's still trying to find a middle ground between the two :D

Suga is very good at bringing emotion in his work, both the audience and himself
being such an honest, raw person who had a hard upbringing, he brings so much emotion in his personal work, he has also said writing about these memories help him process and cope
So he has so many filters and sides of him to show and with whom attract people
@@izzy5908 i think its more this way too
@@cassandraflorea6378 really interesting because I’ve always thought Filter would fit well with Persona the best.

It's a song for us, we're the earth and Jin is the moon that's constantly orbiting us 💜
Another thing, they end with Outro: Ego, because Intro: Persona, Interlude: Shadow, and then Outro: Ego all connect to create the album's narrative.
The other album that seems to be a favorite of a lot of ARMY is Love Yourself: Tear!

@@AlM22 RM did say that the song is hard to perform so I think that's why they don't perform it.
Ellos no la subestiman RM ha dicho que es muy alta para cantarla en vivo!!
The MV is soooo cute too!
"There's so much going on in his head in this song.."
Lol. Yeeaah. There is so much going on in RM's head 24/7. The man is a deep, deep thinker.
Also, My Time hits different because Jungkook is the youngest in the band, and you know, it feels like we're all grieving for the lost "normal" time that he feels he's lost in his childhood
yea, joined the team at 13, debut at 15
I disagree with interpreting it as "grief"...
I THINK WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT YOONGI’S INTERLUDE SHADOW WAS A FCKING MASTERPIECE
I'm so upset he skipped most of it... especially the switch up 😭😭😭
They ended with Ego since we were all crying our eyes out after We are Bulletproof: The Eternal and they didn’t want to end on a sad note. Also you now understand why there was such outrage when this album wasn’t nominated for a Grammy last year. Thank you so much for sincerely listening and reading lyrics so you can really understand why so many people love them so much. All we ever ask is for people to give them the respect they deserve as musicians.
I am still in pain they didn’t get the grammy for this album. Still salty.
It's still an insult to them and us tbh... this album is a masterpiece.

their use of the "sea/desert" analogy is so extensive in their discography. the concept photos for their "map of the soul tour" featured the members all standing in this never ending puddle. however, when the tour got cancelled, their online concert poster was them in a barren desert. i cried when i saw that photo :(((
Two references you may have missed:
Without their fans their sea (fame, riches, ...) will become a desert
and they mention the sea and the desert in that context in some other songs of theirs too, it's one of the reoccuring references in their music.
OMG SEA!! That song is so underrated and sooo good
@@bethzymaciasramirez5325 for real and i think its because its a hiden track
@@imatikatu4322 yes thats why reactors get blocked because of this hiden track
I loved that song on the first listen too. When I first found it I was like, why didn’t I find this sooner?!
Jamais vu is my favorite too, such a good song and underrated
Love it sm too, u r not alone ❤💜
This is one of the most fundamental reasons as to why they've become so big - they put so much of themselves into their work.
hey oh my literally i just checking your channel and i saw this video lmao
FYO "jamais vu" is opposite of the "deja vu" consept
26:45 Its Jin's voice he's doing the high note. And yes there's a live perf for DIONYSUS and its a whole legend
29:09 Suga say "i wanna be rapstar,i wanna be the top..." this is the reference to their first song 'no more dream'
01:07:50 Jimin and V they known as a bestfrienf of each other and 95liners of the group. They've been together for a while.Like they're classmate. They love each other soo much
01:16:50 '7' is the most important number for armys and bts. This album is released in their '7th anniversary'.And this album is the 7th anniversary gift for everyone
and just wanna say there are tons of songs that BTS wrote for armies like "Wings,2!3!,Pied piper" or like this. They also have tons of songs about self love
Okay i watched all and taking notes lmao
Ugh is about how anger, as an emotion, is necessary sometimes (like to bring about change in the world), but it’s being devalued by malice-filled rage (like haters online). Really interesting song. I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to the album. Thanks so much for taking the time, and for sharing your reaction with us.
Yes such an incredible concept for a song! Michael I recommend you watch (even if just on your own) UGH explained by a Korean to also get some of the Korean and k-pop idol life references in this song.
Imagine being Korean or knowing Korean and reading these lyrics. It must hit different
I always feel that . Thats why i want to learn korean so much .
In the beginning, BTS were the underdogs of the industry, they were from a very small company, they were treated so maliciously, were cut out of broadcasts, falsely accused of sajagi, had antis trend no.1 hashtag in Twitter just because they weren’t from a big company and were rising to fame
So basically BTS and ARMY has been through SO MUCH throughout their career, which created such a strong bond between BTS and ARMY.
The other thing about My Time is that Jungkook joined BTS when he was a child (like 15 or something) and he is the youngest member so he has lost out on a lot of childhood and that’s why the lyrics of his solo are even all the more sad (but still one of my favs on the album and he really flexxed with the vocals on that one).
he was 13 (14 in a few months) when he started as a trainee and 15 when they debuted
@@kabazinga yes right

I am genuinely so impressed that you grasped many key concepts and themes of this very long album despite being relatively new to BTS. You had very insightful thoughts as well. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
In moon jin sees himself as the moon and us army as the earth, and yes we are bulletproof the eternal is for army as well, there are a lot of songs in their discography where they are talking about army and i just find it so beautiful, honestly I’ve never seen an artist that loves their fans more than they do, that’s why armys and bts bond is so special
If you look at the MVs, even 'boy with luv' and 'make it right' could be interpreted as their love songs to armies.
Yes.. i strongly feel that make it right is for army

Yes! I agree! One of the best reactors I’ve seen - I love the analysis of the album as a whole and all his thoughts on it!
Persona (*the song) is a fuckin masterpiece among the MANY masterpieces these guys put out. It's fuckin crazy
I think its great but I prefer map of the soul 7!! Incredible
@@Lofieloves I think she is talking about persona the song not the album
Yes. People should praise that song way more.
I can’t believe a lot of people (specifically reactors) don’t know that song by rm.
I 100% agree with you. Persona is such a masterpiece and such a person song to RM
That high note in dionysus was Jin !!! He’s crazy! Thank you so much for reacting to this and checking out their discography further
The song interlude: shadow is pure lyrical genius, I wrote a whole English assignment on that song. The metaphors are beautiful!
@@besalasestrellas Jamais VU it’s the opposite of deja bu it’s not your opinion but a fact lol
27:00 that was Jin! Fun fact, he said he got into the studio and the producer literally told him to just scream, and he came out with that! Mind blown, he’s so talented. Glad you listened to mots:7 - it’s personally my favourite bts album 💜
In the song 'MOON' Jin is reffing EARTH to their fans .
I know he'll fall more for Jin once he hears epiphany 😌
He just listened to LY:Answer.. yesss, new fav song😍💜
Their lyrics are super deep
I've heard RM be called "The philosopher who raps" and it's a pretty accurate title for BTSs main lyricist
While BTS have a ton of artistic freedom as a group, they still have to fit their style, lyrics and message to match what they want to promote as group so Agust D gives him a lot more flexibility to cover his innermost feelings and personal style.
how do you write and produce a song like Interlude: Shadow and not feel like a god honestly 😭 It's a masterpiece
Agust D is a must. Masterpiece, D-2.
I can’t express how much it means to have a full video that really reflects the talent that is BTS. Thank you 🙏.
Please react to AgustD
a lot of jhope's songs center around his "what-ifs" and regrets about becoming an idol, especially in "ego" and "daydream." if you notice there are pretty clear themes around each of the individual members' solo works that are super interesting to follow as they produce more songs
Thank you 💜

70% of their songs are NOT about fans lol they have like 8-10 songs directly about fans. They talk about so many different things, love included.

Fun Fact: I CANNOT listen to We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal WITHOUT crying :""")) it makes me incredibly emotional as one of their fans
bts went through a really hard time with burn out and pressure from their growing fame around the beginning of 2018 and much of this album deals with that and them dealing with it and coming through it to be where they are now. under all the polish it's a very personal album. just about every song relates to it in some way
bts were in their 7th year together when this album came out, for reference. they've technically been together longer but counting from their debut...and yes we are bulletproof the eternal was for us :)

eh wings is good but it's definitely not their best. love yourself:Tear and the most beautiful moment in life pt.2 is iconic though!
V and Jimin are BFF since they were teens so 'FRIENDS' is all about their friendship.
Haha the lyrics that they were talking about the dumpling fight (it's a funny story about bts and army) and jimins pinky (we laugh at jimin because he bas small fingers lol) only the soulmates jimin and v can fight in a song is such a funny way haha
I'm just gonna write this comment and continuously add to it as i watch the video
- first idk if you noticed but Boy with luv the music video version and the audio version differs the MV version you can hear halsey in the "oh my my" part only and a little in the back singing korean with them but the audio version she sings more in the chorus and also sing korean with them
- about dionysus he is the god of fertility and wine as you read and they mentioned "reborn" or "born twice" it's because dionysus was born two times once from his mother's womb and the second is from zeus's thigh. also in korean yeSUL is art and SUL is alcohol so they're playing with words saying they're drunk on art!
- Black swan: now this is one of my favorite songs by them it's so good but the lyrics is just sad. for black swan BTS made this song based on a quote said by the iconic dancer Martha graham which is " A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and the first death is the more painful" they took this quote and applied it on them saying that they're scared of losing their love for music and performing saying how it would kill them it would feel like their first death and the more painful one at that and it shows how much love and appreciation BTS has for music, performing and art overall and it makes me respect them so much more
- UGH!: honestly this would be a little hard for me to explain if you want the perfect explanation watch dkdktv's video of UGH! explained by koreans. but anyways yeah i'm gonna give a brief explanation of only what i know which is UGH in korean the song name is more like "ook" which is when someone gets angry and lose temper all of a sudden and in this song they're criticizing the society especially the internet keyboard warriors and they're saying that it's okay to get angry it's a human nature and feeling BUT instead of putting that anger towards celebrities and people you don't and are jealous of put that anger into good use like fight for a cause fight for something good instead of attacking someone. especially in korea they like attacking celebrities for the smallest things and a lot of celebrities end up taking their lives so in j-hope's line he says that this misdirected anger can cause someone pain or it can make someone hopeless or it can become a bad memory for that someone or it can take someone's life... also after that suga in a mocking way says " what's wrong with getting hate you make so much money why are you whining you should put up with that" and RM says "if you made me do it i would endure it all" these are all things the koreans netizens LOVE saying to celebrities because to them these celebs make so much money so they deserve it it's only "fair" and these celebs have to put up with different types of slanders and accusations because they make money and that if these celebs put these netizens in their places they would endure it because they would make money it's so so sad and fvcked up how people not just koreans think of some celebrities and people with platform in general.
Friends: Jimin and tae (v) are besties literally they were born on the same year as well and they went to high school together and they knew each other for like 10 years now since all 7 members have been living together for that long and their friendship is just so so cute!! the dumpling incident is when they fought over when to eat the dumplings tae said before practice because he was so hungry (he was filming a drama as well at the time so he was super hungry because he didn't have time to eat properly due to busy schedule) and jimin said after practice with the rest of the members so they got into an argument about that and then i think they made up two weeks later they now think of how funny of an incident it was because it was like in 2016 it was long ago lol. the dreamcatcher was because tae had a nightmare and he went to jimin's room to sleep because he got scared and the next day jimin got him a dreamcatcher saying it's to have only good dreams, the little pinky thing jimin has a really small pinky it's cute so they joke about it a lot
- WABP: the eternal: yes this song is for fans, idk if you know but BTS stands for BulleTproof boy scouTs so yeah they have bulletproof in their name so when they first debuted in 2013 as bangtan sonyeondan (the meaning in korean) koreans made fun of their name that's why in joon's verse he says " our name, that everyone laughed at, that we were once embarrassed by this is a proof made of iron, bulletproof" meaning they were embarrassed of it and hated it but now they take pride in it also the whole song have mentions of people hating them like "throw stones at me" " we're not afraid anymore" it's because BTS are literally the most hated group the second they debuted the hate against them was strong for no reason at all just because they came from a small and broke company but still had decent success so bigger companies considered a threat to their groups so the industry literally blocked them on tv, cut their performances and literally humiliated them on tv because they were doing well without big companies and media backup which hurted their pride so a lot of false accusations were thrown against bts to the point they had to go to court to clear their name and keep in mind they were super young at that time jungkook was literally 15/16 and had to go through all that it messed with them mentally now they're the biggest group in the world so koreans the public loves and respect them NOW but kpop stans still have this weird and deep hatred for them which is super weird. also even tho they're the biggest artists in korea (and the world obviously) but because they made their small and broke company one of the biggest and richest companies in korea and did that without needing the media support so the media in korea have a thing against them so they don't report most of their achievements but if a singer from the big companies (now they're smaller than bts's company but they still have stronger media support because connections) wears a limited edition shoes or bag you would see that in the front pages it's messed up really :( also bts have two older songs that were made in their debut year which are bulletproof pt:1 and pt:2 ig you can say the eternal is the conclusion of these songs in a way.
lmaooo i wrote a lot i just had to explain some of the songs, also final note yes 2020 was their 7th year together that's why the album is named 7 and that's why there were a lot of mentions of 7 years, this album is amazing i really love it. also the other album most people say they like is love yourself: tear all their albums are insanely good tho. and omg I really love Zayn as well!!
Wow, I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate your comments as someone who is new to BTS. I got to know this band only after Permission to Dance just like Michael and regret that I couldn't give them a chance earlier. Having said that I wish Michael react to the rest of their albums so I could read more mind-blowing comments like this more! Thank you!!!
@@appletri1 omg after i wrote it i didn’t actually think anyone would read it because its long but i’m so happy i was of help to you even if it’s little! i just respect them so much as artists and as people so i get so passionate when i get to talk and share more about their artistry with other people who are interested in them😅 also yes i hope he would react to them more!
Thank you for writing it 💜
26:45 it was Jin doing the high note
Actually not many of who reacted to this song as a non-fan noticed that!
this album made me cry, smile, hyped....In general, it made me proud of them
Oh yeah, I've been waiting for this! And yes, I recommend you watch the MVs separately, if you put in from the MV intro (which are these little balls, you will see) ,Hybe doesn't block the video, so you wouldn't have to worry about making cuts or having to pause on UA-cam
map of the soul 7 is such an amazing album that didn't get the shine it deserved releasing only a month before going into lockdown, there concert tour being postponed... it coulda been one hell of a year for them, and because of that BE hits even harder
Once you get to know the members, you will also understand Ego’s positivity because J-Hope (aka Hobi) is known as the sunshine of the group so that sound is 100% him and I think that was the perfect way to end such an emotional and personal album.
26:40 it was JIN.
and if i'm not wrong, during the recording of the song, the producer called JIN, and told him to just scream, and yeah..
cmiiw
Hopefully we get a BTS Sound Cloud listening session in the future. They have a lot of really good songs that aren't released on paid streaming platforms that are released there.
Suga and his vulnerability is one of the things that keeping me loyal to BTS for over 3 years. Not only seen by his musics and lyrics, but he being honest about how he sees life/the world in the most beautiful yet ugliest perspective.
Suga's darkness is just my other persona that I never knew its existence 😂
I love this man so much....so raw in an honest way, his songs pierce the heart with reality.
Fun fact: Map of the soul 7 was the best selling album of 2020 worldwide, and Be album was number 4.
already watched this uncut on patreon and loved your reaction. looking forward the the discussion in the comments now! 🥰
Bc of this video now I want to join to his patreon so bad but I'm already joined to 2 patreons more 🥲 such hard decisions in life
@@clarityvm the length of these reactions + his sincere enjoyment have made it a worthwhile splurge for me so far! maybe wait for a few more vids to drop before paying and binge them? :)
they mentioned posting live performance, MVs and some of the “docu-style” vids sometime soon too on the patreon. i’m really looking forward to them.
Does he ever praise Jin and V in the unedited versions? Cuz it's like he brush over those two and majorly focus on Jimin and Jungkook here.
@@ayokumiho okay thanks ;) I'll wait
love your breakdown and appreciation of the lyrics. i've heard this album lots of times but i enjoyed going thru each song with you again. great reaction. thanks.
The sadest thing about 7 is that a whole tour based on that album had to be cancelled. Can you imagine all these gems of songs live? We got an online concert which was great and pulled millions in but of course couldn't replace live, and the boys already worked so hard to prepare :-(
You really need to watch them live, they are one of the best performers and the only artists that I have seen being like super grateful for their fans.
Except stigma had both tbh
@@nancythiang8557 What do you mean? Stigma is super dark. It's literally a song about pain.
@@lobaetoile8440 I think she meant about the vocals, but I am not sure
@@bethzymaciasramirez5325 Ah, you may be right.
“Make It Right”
Michael: jimin, jk… oh and V…
Me: … thinking 🤔…. Me can’t waits until he gets to Epiphany!!!
Ephiphany is suck a beautiful song from Jin and y favorite song by him. This song helped me so much and though me a lot of important things in life.
ans me thinking about jin dominating comment sections under make it right performances ppl asking who is the guy with pink mic
@@hananana1155 true!!!! Unfortunately since he isn’t watching any mv/lives (only lyrics) he can’t see him!!
