I was in the animation meme community when I was about 10-11 in 2018, when he blew up in the community, I didn't really watch him at first bc he made me feel uncomfy for some reason, but I will always remember the one [animator] he reviews, this person spent MONTHS, on this animation and was posting their progress on Tumblr along the way. when the animation meme finally came out they were really proud of it but their friends at the time sent the video to pk for him to review. eventually, he did, in the video, he teamed up with an older creator in the community and was basically laughing and taking the piss out of the animation. keep in mind the animator at the time was 13 and was being mocked on the internet by adults for not producing Disney like animations.

See, what really upsets me is him saying "tweening is easy". It isnt. I am an animator and tweening is difficult to do right. In fact, in my case, *frame by frame is easier than tweening.*
as a person whose done both, frame by frame and tweening is both equally hard in their own ways. in tweening, you still have to learn how to make the movements fluid or more accurate in a sense. otherwise, the final product will just look weird and wonky. in frame by frame, you gotta draw everything with precision to make sure that when it's done, it won't come out looking like a floppy potato. either way, animation is difficult. and Pk doesn't know shit about it.

skep I don’t think Angelo meant it literally - there’s a lot of people who don’t really like this guy (pkrussl) and he mentioned that multiple times. I’m guessing he was referring to most larger creators, who tend to hesitate to call people out even though their voice is needed the most because they have the largest platform / the most reach and can inform more people than smaller creators can, who have to rely more on the algorithm & word of mouth. I don’t think he was trying to disregard smaller creators who made videos at all. :)
I remember having his Kittydog review being recommended to me. The problem? The picture on the thumbnail wasn't made by Kittydog- it was made by another UA-camr who at the time went by ScootalooLovesSans (now she is Synnibear). That just shows how much research he puts into his videos.
I hate when he's like "oh what's the point of this animation meme it's not even good" but like, the point is about practice, fun, good music, feels, etc. He's not the judge of that. He has no idea what he is saying.
He says the animation isn't good, because most of the time the only animation is head bobbing or repeating small animations over and over until the video is done. Sure its about other things but he's reviewing them for how much animation it has, there's nothing wrong with that. I personally like my animation memes with more animation than just head bobbing and repeat scenes, but hey that's just my opinion.

Pkrussl doesn't criticize animators, he just downright roasts them and downsizes them to an extent where they feel uncomfortable and unsatisfied with their animations. Thing is, animation memes aren't supposed to make sense. They're just animations for fun or just to test improvement. Animators do improve over time, and its really cool to see. All animators out there, don't get downgraded for your work. Feel proud about your masterpiece :)

Creator of the 'Karma' meme here (I changed my username ages ago.)- but quite honestly, this guy was really one of the few reasons why I haven't been doing animation memes so often anymore. I've seen his videos and they're really... wow. He's REALLY someone I can't comprehend. His "critiques" on animation memes are really nothing more than just vehement attacks disguised as "advice" that you should take. This is why I strongly despise "cringe culture" and all that nonsense, because it's lead me to privating/unlisting a bunch of my works out of intense fear; even made me stop animating for a while and focus more on illustration. I'm sure this has had similar effects on many other aspiring animators. Only recently have I decided to come back and post a new animation after being busy and reluctant for so long. I want to also add: If you're going to critique, you better make sure you point out not JUST all the negatives, but even positives as well; on top of that, please also offer LEGITIMATE advice on how the person can possibly improve. Going off on somebody's content and tearing it down with insults/crying over it is NOT critiquing. You're now just being a complete jerk. I've found a few of my videos in cringe comps that offered... literally no ounce of help, and they just exist to embarrass people. Completely unacceptable. Animation memes really aren't even that deep. Most of them really aren't. (And if someone wants to have it be deep then so let them, but) They're just quick clips made for fun, and even if they may be repetitive, it does help for practice. I'm no professional animator myself, but I have gotten better admittedly in some of my skills over time through memes, and I think that's something that I'm at least proud of. But either way, nobody should ever have to feel restricted on what content they create because of other's say-let alone the words coming out from Pkrussl himself. Yeesh. EDIT: I also wanted to quickly add, after noticing this comment is actually blowing up ;-; But I've noticed in the past (probably even up to now) that some people don't really seem to realize that even just simple looped animations take out so much time and energy. Again, I'm no professional, but I understand how long it actually takes to just make a simple looped animation. I've seen twitter threads of animators, with levels more of experience than I do, agree on this. Yes, you don't necessarily need to have actual experience in animation to give a bit of criticism when asked for it-but unless you've actually tried any kind of animation and know useful information, then you really don't have the right to come after our work and tell us what to do/where to go with it.
Heck yes! I completely agree with you. I used to make the most cringey content (even though it wasn't that long ago) I have improved so much. I try to avoid watching these types of videos in fear I'm in one. Those people making the Cringe Comps. Are the reason I quit trying to show how I improve every month. People improve and Animations are just a way to have fun and express your emotion!

i just really hate how Pkrussl thinks that frame by frame animation is the only acceptable and best animation and disregards the hard work of some animators who don't do frame by frame and instead do key frame animation. not talking about the basic animation memes with the head bopping and all that, i'm talking about like key frame animation that takes days, weeks, months or even years to do, to practice, learn and master. he holds such high standards to frame by frame animators and yet, turns away and hates key frame animators who worked hard on their work. it's so annoying now. and worst part is, he doesn't even animate. as a person who specialises mainly on keyframe animation, i am irritated.
As an artist (who has attempted and failed at animation) it kinda upsets me that someone who doesn’t have any knowledge of art was critiquing kids having fun through animation, which is incredibly difficult and taxing. I am a beginner animator, and I never liked the guy. He made me feel insecure about my videos and like my talent was not good enough. I also remember when he critisized the Warrior Cats community because he said the MAPs were pointless and had a boring plot. That video showed how dumb he was, and I am not in the Warrior Cats community, (I am in Wings of Fire) and just seeing how good rivals Wings of Fire and Warrior Cats are makes me feel nervous he will come after WoF aswell. Plus what he calls "critisism" is not even critisism. It is just insulting and calling animators bad for what they like and who they are and he should've give tips on what to improve on but he didn't. even do that. Edit: I have started reading Warrior Cats! Love the books so far!

i used to like PK a few years ago, until i saw a video by him that were looking at warrior maps (multi animator projects, not the weird kind) and he wasn't even criticizing or trying to help the animators, he just said "this is terrible wtf this looks like ______" and he also featured a comment in the beginning of the video saying that the thumbnail was weird and disrespectful to the animator that had created the art (it was a frame from it that looked sexual because it was in the middle of a lipsync) and i started to hate him from there even though i was younger and didn't know much that was right from wrong, but i knew that was wrong

I want to say, I'm over the age of 18 now, but when I was 14, a minor, I would watch PKRussls videos about animation memes but also about specific users, one in particular that made fetish content- like- straight up fetish content- and that was 14 year old me being exposed to NSFW content by a channel "for children". His animation meme "reviews" scared me away from animating because I was afraid of being "cringe" and although I don't single handedly blame him, he played a significant role in fostering feelings in me of self hatred and doubt about my interests.

As a Warrior Cats fan, I was intrigued to see his rant on the fandom. Turns out this rant had absolutely no research behind it and he just full on slated the community off. He was ranting about a certain MAP (multiple animator project) and saying how bad it was when in reality, it was absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, due to that video, the creator of this MAP took the video down after how bad they were hurt by PK’s insults. I was in the animation meme community when I was about 10-11 in 2018, when he blew up in the community, I didn't really watch him at first bc he made me feel uncomfy for some reason, but I will always remember the one [animator] he reviews, this person spent MONTHS, on this animation and was posting their progress on Tumblr along the way. when the animation meme finally came out they were really proud of it but their friends at the time sent the video to pk for him to review.
eventually, he did, in the video, he teamed up with an older creator in the community and was basically laughing and taking the piss out of the animation.
keep in mind the animator at the time was 13 and was being mocked on the internet by adults for not producing Disney like animations.

I’m guessing he was referring to most larger creators, who tend to hesitate to call people out even though their voice is needed the most because they have the largest platform / the most reach and can inform more people than smaller creators can, who have to rely more on the algorithm & word of mouth. I don’t think he was trying to disregard smaller creators who made videos at all. :)

Creator of the 'Karma' meme here (I changed my username ages ago.)- but quite honestly, this guy was really one of the few reasons why I haven't been doing animation memes so often anymore. I've seen his videos and they're really... wow. He's REALLY someone I can't comprehend.
His "critiques" on animation memes are really nothing more than just vehement attacks disguised as "advice" that you should take. This is why I strongly despise "cringe culture" and all that nonsense, because it's lead me to privating/unlisting a bunch of my works out of intense fear; even made me stop animating for a while and focus more on illustration. I'm sure this has had similar effects on many other aspiring animators. Only recently have I decided to come back and post a new animation after being busy and reluctant for so long.
I want to also add: If you're going to critique, you better make sure you point out not JUST all the negatives, but even positives as well; on top of that, please also offer LEGITIMATE advice on how the person can possibly improve. Going off on somebody's content and tearing it down with insults/crying over it is NOT critiquing. You're now just being a complete jerk. I've found a few of my videos in cringe comps that offered... literally no ounce of help, and they just exist to embarrass people. Completely unacceptable.
Animation memes really aren't even that deep. Most of them really aren't. (And if someone wants to have it be deep then so let them, but) They're just quick clips made for fun, and even if they may be repetitive, it does help for practice. I'm no professional animator myself, but I have gotten better admittedly in some of my skills over time through memes, and I think that's something that I'm at least proud of.
But either way, nobody should ever have to feel restricted on what content they create because of other's say-let alone the words coming out from Pkrussl himself. Yeesh.
EDIT: I also wanted to quickly add, after noticing this comment is actually blowing up ;-; But I've noticed in the past (probably even up to now) that some people don't really seem to realize that even just simple looped animations take out so much time and energy. Again, I'm no professional, but I understand how long it actually takes to just make a simple looped animation. I've seen twitter threads of animators, with levels more of experience than I do, agree on this. Yes, you don't necessarily need to have actual experience in animation to give a bit of criticism when asked for it-but unless you've actually tried any kind of animation and know useful information, then you really don't have the right to come after our work and tell us what to do/where to go with it.

I try to avoid watching these types of videos in fear I'm in one. Those people making the Cringe Comps. Are the reason I quit trying to show how I improve every month. I am a beginner animator, and I never liked the guy. He made me feel insecure about my videos and like my talent was not good enough. I also remember when he critisized the Warrior Cats community because he said the MAPs were pointless and had a boring plot. That video showed how dumb he was, and I am not in the Warrior Cats community, (I am in Wings of Fire) and just seeing how good rivals Wings of Fire and Warrior Cats are makes me feel nervous he will come after WoF aswell.
Plus what he calls "critisism" is not even critisism. It is just insulting and calling animators bad for what they like and who they are and he should've give tips on what to improve on but he didn't. even do that.

People like PKrussel are one of the reasons why I'm scared of posting animation. My art style isn't very good, and the animation is kind of choppy. I don't have high a lot of confidence, so I'm absolutely petrified of it getting into a cringe comp.

i used to like PK a few years ago, until i saw a video by him that were looking at warrior maps (multi animator projects, not the weird kind) and he wasn't even criticizing or trying to help the animators, he just said "this is terrible wtf this looks like ______" and he also featured a comment in the beginning of the video saying that the thumbnail was weird and disrespectful to the animator that had created the art (it was a frame from it that looked sexual because it was in the middle of a lipsync) and i started to hate him from there even though i was younger and didn't know much that was right from wrong, but i knew that was wrong

I want to say, I'm over the age of 18 now, but when I was 14, a minor, I would watch PKRussls videos about animation memes but also about specific users, one in particular that made fetish content- like- straight up fetish content- and that was 14 year old me being exposed to NSFW content by a channel "for children".
His animation meme "reviews" scared me away from animating because I was afraid of being "cringe" and although I don't single handedly blame him, he played a significant role in fostering feelings in me of self hatred and doubt about my interests.

As a Warrior Cats fan, I was intrigued to see his rant on the fandom. Turns out this rant had absolutely no research behind it and he just full on slated the community off. He was ranting about a certain MAP (multiple animator project) and saying how bad it was when in reality, it was absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, due to that video, the creator of this MAP took the video down after how bad they were hurt by PK’s insults. Luckily, the rant video got way more dislikes than likes and every comment I saw was shouting negativity at him
He’s always annoyed me, even on the other videos not just the Warrior Cats one. There is absolutely no research nor empathy that goes thru his videos and I’m glad it’s being noticed a lot more often
