I'm already 78 years old, Led Zep belonged to my youth, and I still listen to some of their songs to this day. It's a pleasure to see that today's generations also appreciate their music. Regards: Marika from Hungary.
I was lucky enough to see them live in concert back in '74. I will always cherish that experience. And BTW guys, Plant's iconic curls are natural, not a perm. If you want to see them doing a song LIVE & not a montage video, you should check out their performance of a song called 'In My Time of Dying" from the Earls Court concert in 1975. It is one of my personal faves, but also gives each member a chance to shine (IMHO). I would leave you a link, but afraid it will get blocked. Enjoy you guys very much! Cheers!
when we got this record to play on the radio station I worked at, we had some controversy and censorship discussions about the lyrics of this song. Great song and it broke more barriers than you can imagine.
Howdy, BPs! This is one of the rock-n-roll greats. For another fantastic live Zep vid, check out the Madison Square Garden 1973 version of Since I've Been Lovin' You. It's insane.
Hello BP1 & BP2. I saw Led Zeppelin in August of 1971, 3 months before Led Zeppelin IV was released. They did an acoustic version of Stairway and were booed. But it was an amazing show. The DVD "How The West Was Won" is a great representation of their early years.
This is the official sound track wth recording manipulation and other tweaks. The visuals are from a lot of different songs over several years hence different hair , beards and clothes. The guitar solo video is from 1977 Jimmy in the blue shirt and wide leg trousers.
It was actually Peter Grant the manager who did not want singles released. He also demanded at venues and got 90% of the take for the night. But, before Grant decided not to let singles be released (and a few bands were doing this. Usually in concept albums) Whole Lotta Love did get airplay. I was in 6th grade when it came out and I remember hearing it on the radio - and Immigrant Song - back then. And yes. There was nothing like it until then.
Zeps manager Peter Grant and Page were the decision makers about the issues regarding banning any releases of singles. WHOLE LOTTA LOVE was released for some moments in 1969 in England and here in Australia. I actually have a copy of WHOLE LOTTA LOVE from 1969 with the B Side being LIVIN LOVIN MAID.
It wasn't Robert plant that didn't want singles it was Jimmy Page that didn't want singles!, Jimmy Page meant for their music to be heard whole on a album!
Jimmy Page was the founding member of Led Zep he was a couple of years older than the rest and had years of work as a session musician under his belt ( he was on half the recordings that came out of London in the 1960's ) along with touring and live performances with the yardbirds. He produces led zep and has done all the remastering over the years. Four brilliant musicians in that band. If you want to really understand why they didn't release singles than you should react to the first album track by track. You'll get it then!! widely regarded as the best first album by any group ever and then they got better and better. as far as live performances go you should check out Stairway to heaven live at msg 1973, also since i been loving you from the same concert for the blues ( that concert was the basis for the feature film they made The song remains the same ) but also try how many more times from the Danmark Radio film from their first tour to see them right at the beginning and i can't quit you babe from the royal albert hall 1970 which shows how brilliant they are at interacting with each other on stage. The way to get the most out of them is to listen to a mix of the studio recordings and the live performances. Whole lotta love is like gateway led zep.
One of my absolute favorite live performances is at Knebworth in 1979 with the iconic song Kashmir. I'd love to see your reaction! Everyone has their preferred version of Kashmir but this one in particular really moves me. Thanks guys. They really were rock gods, weren't they?
Jimmy Page was the band leader, not Plant and Jimmy was the one who made decisions about the direction of the band including not producing singles because he wanted freedom in creative music making rather than being confined to 3 minute singles which is what radio stations required for radio play in those days.
I am 59, Loved this tune, This is a sexy heavy Metal tune with a hip-hop rhythm, I cold shake my booty to this song. any drum s set for too long us girls ran off the dance floor..I was an exception, I could shake it to this song...still can..
Heavy metal and hip hop didn't exist as genres at the time and Jimmy Page doesn't like LZ being referred to as a heavy metal band. I think the band that's credited with inventing heavy metal is Black Sabbath but LZ were such an inventive band it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't influence the creation of heavy metal also.
Although I'm from the United States some of the best rock bands from the 60's & 70's are from the UK. We've got our Southern Rock. Check out the Allman Brothers "One way out" or "Statesboro Blues" AND Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Whisky Rock-A-Roller"❤
It was this song that caused them to not want singles released, the single release took out the violin bow guitar solo, Page was horrified when he heard it.
Next do Plant and Allison Kraus. Alison is a multi grammy-winning bluegrass artist. There are some very good UA-cam clips of the duo on CMT Crossroads Chanel . I have tickets to go see them next month. They co-wrote and recorded a couple of albums together in Nashville, TN, my hometown. . Check out some of Allison's greatest Hits as well. She's a multi-instrumentalist and one of the best bluegrass singer-songwriters alive today!
Perhaps not 'Stairway To Heaven' as your next 'live' song, but I'd suggest 'Kashmir' instead, probably Led Zep's greatest song, and one of Robert Plant's favourites!
Rewatching thus reaction video I had to comment on the open shirt thing because so many people today mention it. Back in the 70s men would wear silky shirts half way open. That was a style. The younger people wore open shirts or vests and t shirts. But, Zeppelin also did 2 to 3 hour shows and under those hot lights I imagine the guys would have loved to have no shirts. It had to be very hot. So, I think some of it had to do with style and some of it had to do with just trying not to burn up under those lights.
Also you need to do more Zeppelin. The original Stairway to Heaven. Also Kashmir, When the Levee breaks and Since I've Been Loving you. These are musts.
A little astounded by this, not a put down or anything. This came out so long ago. Understand now why you may not heard it before. The fact there were no singles the UK. Was much different here in the good ol' US. The radio stations ate it up.
@charles markley HI, just to be clear and up front, we both know the song very well, it was the music they played on Top of the Pops every week. We had just not seen the old original Led Zep giving it the full beans live in this way. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment
Hey ! You should have done the live version from the Madison Square Garden concert ! Much better. Try the song No Quarter from the Madison Square Garden concert next !
When you are way down beyond conscious mind and God rolls up on you through music it can be quite unsettling. But at the same time no symbols and no religion, just God without religion. Imagine that.
Many of their live videos are better than their recorded versions. This is a great example. "Since I've been loving you" Here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/1gHlbHtdVLU/v-deo.html
dudes...you need to watch the real live shows..1969 Danmarks Radio, 1973 MSG, 1975 Earls Court and 1979 Knebworth...all original band members at each of these shows...just pick one...especially the MSG versions of Stairway, No Quarter, Since I've Been Loving You, Dazed and Confused, etc.; you will notice they don't EVER play any song the same way twice...for ten years they WERE THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD
Permed hair, keith moon, HUH? Plant wasn't the one who wouldn't let singles be released, he didn't have that power over the band - page, etc...it was their manager and Page and decision of entire band. They changed the way bands were paid, changed the music industry...on every level. Rock ICONS. SMH
First time visitor to your channel. This isn’t really “live”, is it….Why not actually watch a LIVE performance? MSG 1973….Ended the show. So much better than this….no comparison. And why stop the video 30 seconds before the end of the song? Odd……
Please hit the thumbs up button on this video to help our channel :) - We are live in the chat for this one during the Premiere. BPR!
I'm already 78 years old, Led Zep belonged to my youth, and I still listen to some of their songs to this day. It's a pleasure to see that today's generations also appreciate their music. Regards: Marika from Hungary.
Perm indeed!! Don't diss the golden god of rock. Those curls are all real. 😄
Pretty astounding that LZ members were 19yo or early 20s when their first two albums dropped in 1969....and shocked a whole lot of ppl!
That was the best time EVER to be a teenager! I'm so thankful ❤
Zeppelin was ahead of their time. Thank you London! 💞💝💞
The GOATS...PERIOD!😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

They were magnificent!! No this wasn't live...watch live 1973!

Yes great performance
For me, there’s nothing better than the mighty Led Zeppelin!

Love Led Zeppelin! Enjoy your channel! 😊🌵☀️🐶🎸🐰🙏
Iconic - it was tops over here too
Thanks for watching Sandy 👍🏻👍🏻

Try the video of: You Shook Me. (The older the better.) You'll definitely get a good example of Plant's singing skills.
Check out some of the live performances from Madison Square Garden 1973.
You might enjoy Goin' to California live
from Earl's Court by LZ. A bit of acoustic -
peace
Keep up the great work! Enjoy your channel! Amazing song!😊
Love this song !
I think if you look at the viewing numbers on their individual songs, you’ll see they have millions of listeners.
My Absolute Favourite LZ song!! I saw them live twice and they were amazing! Thanks Guys 😁
Myself and BP2 have great smiles seeing your comments and the Easter pic so thanks and hope all good 👍🏻 amazing you seen them live! 👍🏻👍🏻

Top 5 hard rock songs ever. Prolly Top 3.
With a dash of psychedelia..

Yes……Stairway from MSG 1973…..that’s the live one you want!
Guys, check out Chicago- If you love me now -1977 ,and Chicago -25 or 6-4 7/21/1970.
Mt favorite Zeppelin is probably When The Levee Breaks. If you like a heavy beat, it's it! Please check it out.
Awesome reaction!!! Cant wait to see you react to ( IN MY TIME OF DYING ) incredible sound!!!
no perm for Plant-his natural curls. Dang, the man was hot!

some of us old folks are still around,

We have heard it before as we explained but not seen the video of performed live 👍🏻👍🏻 thanks for watching
Hey ! You should have done the live version from the Madison Square Garden concert ! Much better. Try the song No Quarter from the Madison Square Garden concert next !
There’s only one Robert Plant
And Jimmy Page!
And John Bonham!
And John Paul Jones!
That together made the magic that was the one and only Led Zeppelin!
Robert Plant sure was a pretty peacock.
When you are way down beyond conscious mind and God rolls up on you through music it can be quite unsettling. But at the same time no symbols and no religion, just God without religion. Imagine that.
Classic, golden oldie from the legends of rock.
