What do you think of the new Nimbus 26 for hallux rigidus, are they good or not?
@@fabrizioaiello4008 Hi, we have a video on this.
The way the Bondi had me walking with no back pain.... love it
After multiple foot and calf muscle surgeries my doctor recommended Bondi 8. I thought there's no way that could hold up. (maintenance at a school I'm running everywhere all day). No joke 6 months post op from planter and calf muscle release surgery. Still zero pain. Not even in hips ( I broke one when I was 12 flares up easily) I absolutely love them.
That’s amazing to hear - thanks for letting me know 👍
Love my Hokas
I have a heal spur and some Arthritis. These shoes are the bomb
Thank u for that info,it was helpful.
A pleasure - thanks for your comment🙏
After having ovarian cancer due to the chemotherapy I ended up with degenerative joint disease and I have both hip replacements and both knee replacements and Hoka bondi 8 has helped. Love them.
Exacyly what i was looking for. Ty sir.
My pleasure, thanks for taking the time to comment.
This information is very helpful to me. Thank you sir.
A pleasure, thank you very much for taking the time to comment.
I love my bondi 8, really help my knees.
Great to hear 👌
May I ask how it helped your knees? I'm looking for shoes for osteoarthritis knees and would love to hear more
I really love the Altra Torin Zero drop sneaker. It's been a game changer!
Great brand 👌
I tried on the Bondi 8, Clifton 9, and the graviota. I didn't care for the graviota, which left it between the Bondi and the Clifton. I ended up getting the Clifton 9 because the toe box was bigger. Other than that, I couldn't really tell the difference between the Bondi and the Clifton when walking around. Both were really nice.
Thanks for your comments - I hope you enjoy them🙏
I just had reconstructive foot surgery and I love Hoka’s . I need a very wide shoe and super comfy. What do you recommend ?
My left foot is completely flat. I do mainly walking. Which Hoka would you recommend?
Thank you for the video. What type do you recommend for long walkings. I have knees problem. Thank you!
Hi, hopefully the video should answer that for you
Thank you sir.
A pleasure🙏
Hi I have neuropathy, high arches and foot drop would any of the Hoka models help me? I’m thinking since it’s a rocker type shoe it may help but not sure. Please let me know what you think. Thank you.
Hi James, I have seen a few of your videos, very educational, thank you!
I have a hind foot varus and tend to walk on lateral border of my right foot, I’m undergoing physio and have seen a podiatrist, she recommended better more supportive footwear, which shoe will be my friend here? Clifton 9? Thanks
A responsive shoe with a lower stack in the midsole can be a useful adjunct alongside rehabilitation exercises for peroneal tendonitis
hi! i’ve had a 5th meta stress fracture non consolidating after almost 4 months. i was told to get rid of the boot and crutch and for shoes , use hard bottomed shoes. My podiatrist also said no comfy insoles so he pulled out the memory foam of my skechers (which are too flimsy anyway) - I was told hard sole - And I also have an orthotic for Hallux rigidus - can you remove the insoles on these shoes and replace them with an orthotic - will it be a hard bottom?
Thanks for this! I ended up getting the Arahi 6, which is a great shoe. I wanted to like the Bondi 8, but the toe box is too small for my foot. The Clifton 9 doesn't have enough cushioning for me. From what I understand, The Arahi 6 is similar to the Clifton, except the Arahi has the stability.
The arahi 6 is a personal favourite 👍
This was helpful. I purchased the clifton 9. I've been wearing brooks and now Altra. I needed a sneakers that my Orthotics could work well. I'm thinking the Bondi. What's your thoughts, please
Bondi are a great cushion low drop shoe
👍 video, always want to know & first time hear the explanation. I prefer the bondi 😂
Glad you liked it!
Thank you for the info. It’s hard to tell in the video, if you have metatarsalgia are the Bondi 8s going to irritate that? Thank you!
They can be a good option but are narrow in the toe box. They sell wide versions if necessary
Thanks James for these videos. I have two issues. It band tightnesss on knee replacement side and Morton’s neuroma on left foot. What you be a good fit
Hi,
Some patients find a wide version of the arahi 6 helpful
Thanks I will look into that one
I had a fusion about 20 years ago. Recently I had a revision and another fusion of the sub-taylar joint. I was recommended Hoka's. I believe it was the Bondi One. I was told the rocker style sole would help simulate the natural action of the fused joint. I have been studying the different styles of Hoka and I'm finding it overwhelming. Can I ask your opinion? Also, both ankles will be fused in the same manner.
We often recommend the clifton 9 to our patients who require a responsive shoe with a forefoot rocker
Helpful !!! Following an avulsion 5th metarsel fracture after getting out of the boot- which one of these 3 woukd be appropriate and provide the best support as i walk for rehab ? thanks 💪🌟
After a fracture, people are often more unstable so they might find the Arahi 6 helpful
Same here
I have insertional Achilles tendinitis for many years and have learned to deal with the pain. In addition, I will require knee cap replacements that I am putting off by having Ortho Visc injections every six months. The final issue is the arthritis in both feet sometimes helped by cortisone injections. I wear orthotics and do not run but an an avid walker sometimes logging in 12 miles a day while traveling. I bought a pair of Hoka Speedoat gore tex trail runners for my last trip which were very cushiony with my orthotics. Before I purchase another pair, I would like to get your opinion in case there is another shoe that I might want to try. From the video, it sounded like the the Arahi 6 might be a good shoe due to its stability. Your recommendation?
You might find our video on best shoes for insertional Achilles tendonitis helpful
Hey great videos, and thanks for your tips. I have a question. What do you think about topo phantom and ultrafly for hallux rigidus? And the new balance fresh foam more V4 (someone says they are good someone says they are not because of the foam they are not stiff enough)? Thank for helping
The wide toe boxes can provide relief they are not as stiff as other shoes - I would recommend you check out our video on shoes for hallux rigidus
@@james_mccormack thanks. What u think of the new Nimbus 26? Are good for hallux rigidus?
I have a weak right knee. I ordered just now a hoka gaviota 5 before seeing your video. Do you think this is still a good fit?
They are a good support shoe - I hope you feel better soon.
My podiatrist suggested the HOKA Clifton 9 shoes for my high arches and I love them! I have 2 pairs (I'm a Wide) and just recently added a Bondi 8 to my collection for my longer walks, such as when I went to San Diego last month for a vacation (spent a day walking at the S.D. Zoo) and walking around the resort I stayed at in Escondido.
I have high arches and like to go on long walks as well. I was going to get the Gaviotas, but after seeing this and seeing your comment, I might get the Clifton's. Do the ones you have run true to size? And why not the Cliftons for your long walks?
@@edronczkowski6209 Yes, my size 9 Wide are true to size. I actually prefer Clifton 9 over Bondi 8. The Bondi 8 has a thicker heel tread for extra comfort, but I think it makes the shoe more "clunky".
@@Steve_in_NJ Thanks. I tried on the Gaviota 5's, the Clifton 9's, the Bondi's and the Brooks Ghost 16's yesterday at Dick's. I will say that I was surprised I liked the Ghost over any of the Hoka's. The wide toe box on the Gaviota's was hideous and it felt clunky. The Clifton's were so narrow and form-fitting but were comfortable. But the Brooks Ghost 16 just felt the most comfortable on my feet. I can't wait to try on the Max since I heard it was rated super high for supinators like me.
Hello, I appreciated your video. I have developed bone spurs on my two pinky toes and on both heels. I don't have the money or medical benefits to get surgery. I am about to potentially start a new job and it would require me to be on my feet and walk a lot. Family members have suggested the Hoka shoe, but of the three you discussed which would be best for me? I am also a bit overweight.
The Channel is for educational content only therefore I can’t provide direct medical advice unfortunately
Thanks for the video, really helpful. One question, I know that low drop shoes are not recommended for people with achilles issues. Would you completely avoid Hoka shoes? For running I don't think it's a massive issue as I tend to land on my mid-to-fore foot, the drop may not be that much of an issue. But how about walking? Thanks again for this and other videos.
One doesn’t necessarily need to avoid them for walking at the gait cycle is completely different to running
If someone has Achilles pain walking, they could try a heel raise in their hokas rather than buying new shoes
@@james_mccormack thanks a lot for the reply. Given I'm not a heel striker when running, do you think I could use any of these Hoka shoes for running? I am recovering from an Achilles tendinopathy, but I am unsure if the low drop could have a negative impact during the recovery phase or after I am fully recovered.
Cheers.
Hi Dr. James. I have bilateral Hagland's deformity and high arches. Which HOKA model would be the best for me??? Thanks for your help in advance.
Some patients with high arches enjoy the cushioning of the bondi

which one do you recommand for older lady with knee pain/ hip pain and needs long walking. many thanks ( clifton 9 - arahi 6- bondi 8- rincon 3- kawana )
Hi, very difficult to answer with that much information and without an assessment - the arahi 6 may be worth a try
Hello, which shoe would you recommend for sciatic issues.
I am looking for a good support shoe.
The Arahi 6 is the most supportive out of the shoes recommended in the video
Which one is best for plantar fasciitis? I don’t have it now, but had it in the past.

The stability of the arahi 6 could be helpful
What hoka shoe would you recommend for a fused ankle for walking pls thank u
Our video on shoes for ankle arthritis is likely to be most appropriate
Hi! Can I ask was there a reason to not include Gaviota 5 in your review? you dont consider them good stability shoe In comparison to the three listed above. Bondi was very uncomfortable to me in the foot I have PF.
It’s a bulkier version in the arahi - it’s a very good shoe but I like to keep videos concise so I can’t review them all
Hi can you recommend any particular ones post op microdiscectomy,i had severe leg pain, hamstring dwn to foot..i stil have nerve issues in hamstring..these wld be for walking.

We have numerous videos on shoes for plantar fasciitis
I have hallux limitus on the left and plantar fascitis on the right. Which of these do you think is best for mainly power walks? I am coming out of a New Balance 860 and the drop feels too much for my big toe - so I am looking for less pressure on my toe. Thank you!
Lower drop with a forefoot rocker reduces the load on the forefoot.
Ive 7 back surgeries and need another one, what shoe do you recommend
I personally love the Hoka Bondai series.

The J-Frame on the Arahi 6 can help to support the Plantar Fascia.

We have a video on the best shoes for Morton’s neuroma, insoles for Morton’s neuroma and exercises
I have a bone spur and need a basic walking shoes. Which of these do you reccomend? I also have super high arches
Some patients with high arches prefer the cushioning of the bondi
I had a lisfranc injury 2 years ago and I had surgery a year ago in June still have quite a bit of pain I got the bondi 8s and got them a half size bigger because of the fusion and metal work in my foot. Would I benefit from the Clifton 9s? I'm trying to be able to walk without a limp an hoping I can get some relief. The bondi 8s are good but now they are a bit too big and with these shoes being so expensive. Could you give me an idea?
Try our video on the best shoes for walking
Is the bondi 8 good for hip arthritis, si joint pain?
It's a cushion low drop shoe that helps to absorb vibration as you move
Can I use gaviota for Hallux rigidus?
They are not as stiff as other shoes
@@james_mccormack and what about the new Nimbus 26, are good for hallux rigidus? Thanks a lot
I broke my ankle three place on my right ankle. My question which shoe give more support? My foot keeps going inward. Taking Pt trying to correct this.
The Arahi 6 is the most supportive of these 3 shoes.
Hi what shoe is good for. Bone spur in the foot heel
We have a video on haglunds deformity
Dude. Probably was looking for the von Schiller's. Antonio is just a small owner. The non Schiller's are the one with the heat
When I tried a pair of Bondi 8 recently, I felt painful pressure weight bearing through the inner midfoot, along the arch. After 4 hours into my shift and walking a lot, I had to take them off, and felt like they were bruised with each step afterwards. I hear Hoka run narrow in the midfoot, what other brands would you recommend? (Others have mentioned give it two weeks, 1 month but my PT said send them back)
Hoka curve up at the sides to provide extra stability so if it’s not the correct width that can be uncomfortable- we have a seperate video recommending 5 other shoes for walking
What is the best shoe for a drop foot? Recovering from a injury of being partially paralyzed. Just starting to walk now
This video is education content only - you should speak to your healthcare professional for individual cases
What about for Plantar Faciitis which one is better?
We have a specific video for that
I get a tightening feeling in my ankle when walking & I get calluses on the ball of my foot.
What shoe would you suggest?
Unfortunately, it's difficult to answer without an assessment.
Which one is better? Women’s Kawana 2 or Arahi 7 for everyday walk and occasional running?
They are two completey different shoes - The Kawana is a all rounder while the Arahi is a true lightweight stability shoe.
How does the drop effect when only using shoes for walking (not running). I walked in a pair o Brooks shoes with a 12mm drop in the day after i got a sharp knee pain
Hi, it can alter where the centre of gravity is placed through your knees as you stand and walk.
Which on will be better for hill pain or spurs 😢?
The bondi is the most cushioned

Help. I have wide, flat feet. More importantly, I have shortened calf fibers due to excessive use of heels. I can walk without pain on a treadmill, but when taking my walks outdoors, my calves cramp up so badly that I have to stop completely. Which shoes do you recommend?
Your calves might appreciate a shoe with a higher heel drop than the Hokas.
Perhaps take a look at the Mizuno Waves, Brooks Adrenaline GTS or Asics GT 2000 collections

Is the Hoka bondi 8 good for foot pain, noropathy?
Comfortable but the high stack on the midsole can make it unstable for those with poor balance
Oh, l have excellent balance! Thank you for your feedback...
I have been wearing Bondi 7's for metatarsalgia. Still having issues. Did you say that the low heel drop is NOT good for metatarsalgia? I got a bit confused there
Low heel drop shoes increase forefoot plantar pressure unless they have a forefoot rocker
So is there a shoe you think might work better than Bondi 7 for me?
What hoka shoe is best for hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis?
Sorry I can't advice without an assessment.
Have just been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis by my physio and again by the Podiatry Dept. On the hospital. The podiatrist looked at my shoes and grimaced and told me I was probably wearing one of the worst shoes on the market. She thereafter recommended Hoka shoes to assist in dealing with my condition.
