Creep by “fail”, he meant it was a lot more hated than the other games. don’t be rude, he’s using information from the consumers. plus he literally said it was a great game.
@@shrumbus I was never a fan of RE, I played RE1 when I was like... 10. Half of it anyway. Played an hour or two of RE2 at most. Wasn't my thing. RE7 is what got me into the series and wanted to look back. I started watching Jesse Cox and Cry play 6 just for laughs, and its been hilarious. But it made things a little more coherent for someone with no knowledge of the game. But the RE2 remake seems like the best in the series easily. Everything feels tense, there's weight to the enemies, etc. The original looks like a shitty tribute game a 12 year old made compared to the new Remake. So damn different. Hopefully game devs realize that due to big LP people, horror games are popular. PT showed everyone the potential really. I think PT was the true game changer for everything. And apparently Death Stranding is blowing people away for those that have seen the first few hours (core people that made the engine code are going insane over it). So hopefully we get more high quality horror games with good atmosphere. That's all that truly matters in horror. Not gore or jump scares. Atmosphere and fearing what comes next.
Ada wasn't alone. She had. The best. Character in all resident evil games!! His name spreads fear to any infected, have it be man, woman or dog. His name.. Agent.
@@sakadic1777 2nd player in Ada's campaign (when in co-op mode) is a BSAA agent, no face, no name, no bullshit, he is just there to purge the infected.
*RE2 remake:* balances over the shoulder style gameplay of RE4 and the tight slower paced strategy of RE7 making it reminiscent of the early games, done and dusted.
Li-Li Mandragon It also avoids the fast pace play of RE6/RE5, compensates the enemies for the new over-the-shoulder aim, and provides the dark environment that the original RE games were known for.
Re remake is everything I hoped it would be and more, can't wait to sink many more hours into it tomorrow and until kh3 comes out, then I'll be playing both. :D
'Neo-Umbrella' is just baffling as a concept. Imagine if Toyota went bankrupt, then 10 years on Neo-Toyota was operating in the shadows, still building and selling cars out of rogue factories all over the globe.
Still a much better and faithful Story than just throwing Umbrella away in the beginning cutscene after about 9 years worth of time and money spent (both Capcom and the fans) on build up to a showdown with Umbrella that gets wasted at the very beginning in a Mainline entry that comes off more as an overglorified spinoff (4)
They didn't nail the formula, they just copied their old game and modernized it. Nailing the formula was RE7, not RE2. RE2 is icing on the cake. If RE7 was trash, RE2 wouldn't have been made, since it uses RE7's engine.
@@kikook222 RE2 remake is a way better resident evil game and overall experience than RE7 tho. At first I pretended to love RE7 when it came out bcuz I was just happy it was decent. But I swear people overrate it too much.
RE7 extremely bland and shallow main cast (with the exception of bakers of course) is what turns me off a lot nowadays and I never really feel like playing the game again
Agreed, re2 remake is the shit, still love the originals tho and re 4, reason i like it so much is because it feels like re 4 and the original r2 had a kid
CV is important in the series buy bear in mind, since CV didnt havr numbers in the title, it looks like a spin off only n honestly, i want people to apreciate it like the other canon title. That said, CV is the only canon title to not appear on multiple platform hence limit the number of people to able to play it
Chris Redfield : "Come on Piers, we've got training to do..." Piers Nivans : "But Chris, the Med-Tech said that if your shoulders get any bigger-" Chris Redfield : "That's why we don't see him anymore."
I always though that Chris just got the JoJo treatment on him in order to fight Wesker who was too overpowered, like some villain of the same franchise.
They could've made chris's campaign way back in re 5 but a lil more horror just add the stuff from 6. Then re6 could've been just leons story then it would've been passible
in conclusion, re6 is the best generic 3rd person shooter filled with contents I have ever played, it can be a poor man's Monster Hunter Gunner experience on its own Damn somehow I even hate Gears 5 more than re6
I can understand why some people hate RE6 but I had a great time playing it with my brother and that's a good thing because there aren't many local co-op / splitscreen PC games made like this anymore.
Jay Jays If it didn't have the Resident Evil title in it, it might have just been a good shootie-horror type game. But as a Resident Evil game? It's horrible.
How is the splitscreen on PC? I ask genuinely because I tried to play splitscreen with my sister on the PS3 and we each got a tiny, partially overlapping corner of the screen despite having a TV with a resolution large enough that we should have easily had half the screen to ourselves. We couldn't see anything and gave up.
Me too The characters are accustomed to the treat that's why they are going on horror action approach since re4 even 3 had a Dodge mechanic These people are desensitized of the event and knows how to handle such incidents and not oblivious anymore of what's happening and it's now their direct mission That's why re7 wa able to go back from its roots because it's a new character fully unaware and I'll equip/exp of the horrors he'll face RE2 remake is a remake but still had that modern mechanic on to it and it's a retelling of the characters origins of course it'll be leaning more towards horror
Absolutely! I loved RE6 BECAUSE of the action/different campaigns and stories overlapping!! I just bought an extra copy for my daughter so we can play it again w/out the split screen, LOL. What I LOVED Most about RE6 was the opportunity to choose whether you shoot or melee attack your enemies! Fantastic feature IMO. Wish RE5 had it instead of the timing shots factor BUT I did get used to it on RE5 and it remains my current favorite in the series. I want choices.
Ya know, I've often heard people talking about how Leon's was supposed to be the scary one to appease old fans, but after the first 20 minutes or so it's just an action game, after the campus bits, I wasn't on edge at all, it just becomes action action and more action. I was more scared during Jake's campaign. It's very very much an action game and it still boggles my mind as to why they'd gone down this path.
Personally, I really like the core gameplay of 6. It feels good to control and high play looks really stylish. 6's problems come in other forms. It's level design is very poor. Each story isn't well paced. There's an overabundance of instant death QTE's. The chase sequences are universally awful. That stealth section in Sherry and Jake's campaign is absolutely atrocious. The problem with 6's story was not that it was big dumb action. It's that it took itself completely seriously.
Yeah, I actually really enjoyed RE6. It was a really fun game to play when the game actually let you play it and didn't do weird gimmicky shit. I also liked every one of the old school survival horror entries and RE7's new take on them; there's no reason as to why grand gothic-horror style action Resident Evil can't coexist alongside dark survival horror Resident Evil. They're both great for their own individual reasons.
Agreed, RE4 story was also terrible, but what made it good was that the game was self-aware of having a b-movie script and ran with it. As for gameplay the biggest mistake IMO was having partners around, specially in Leon's case, having a second gunman around just takes away all the horror the game could posible had, that wasn't much to begin with. Specially since they never show up again in future RE games, for instance RE6 pretends that Chris's partner from RE5 doesn't exits, everytime Wesker's death comes up in the story he takes all the credit for it. If the series isn't even gonna bother with them ¿Why should I?
With the gameplay, if this was a different game, or a RE spinoff I think it would've been received better. Like what if Umbrella Corps played like this?
Although I agree with most of what you said. I feel you missed the point of the different campaigns. 1. On leons campaign. The eerie feeling of horror is there at the start because he and Helena are essentially isolated, but this isn't his first day as a police officer or his first rodeo. So the action creeps in. 2. Chris. No longer in an isolated area or with an unlikely partner in a strange place or situation. He is literally with his whole team on the city going after a specific objective. Armed to the teeth. Or course it's going to be like COD. 3. Jake and Cherry are the new comers and although capable they have an unbeatable foe going after them. 4. Ada is behind the scenes trying to help and solve everything but not in the thick of it. So she has more puzzles and less action. All the campaigns make sense not only individually but as a whole to the characters. Of each scenario was the same. Isolated low resources horror the stories wouldn't make sense since they have all evolved. That's why they are different and they are all apart. If all of them would be RE4 then we wouldn't need all these characters. It would be a dull game. R6 is flawed. But it is a great game. All the characters aren't new to the situation, they are all veterans. Chris wouldn't go with just one gun and one magazine to deal with this. Or anyone really. Great video though
@Joni Filth that really doesnt make sense, good game but bad resident evil game? How?? It took almost every formula and concept of past RE games and brought them together as one.
Well I hate the controls in 4, 5 is the same but with more features and 6 is more easy to use. Edit: I forgot this comment existed and just wanted to say that this hot take I had sucked. I grew to understand and apréciate Re 4’s control scheme but I still wouldn’t say it’s perfect but for what and how the game was designed the controls work for what it was.
A little something I'd like to add: The remake of RE:1 had more strategy as well. The Crimson Heads. Not only do you decide whether to kill or flee from a zombie, if you do kill it, you must also choose whether to burn that corpse to prevent it from possibly coming back as a Crimson Head.
Well everything copies one another, so why should it be any different for RE6 at the time. Games copied RE4 behind the shoulder gameplay after it became a hit, so on and so forth.
i had to stop watching. between the pacing and his voice. im so tired of these scam artist youtube "content creators". when he started talking about how great a certain campaign was i had to stop. the title says it failed yet its a best seller, the guy says he likes it, and talks about why he likes it. this video is JUNK.
I will save you 35 minutes. 1.The gameplay didn't match the theme. 2. The zombie transformations were a joke there were kangaroo zombies ffs. 3.a.I were the most useless they've ever been 4. Mechanics were ok but kinda useless in story mode 5. It got repetitive fast 6. It focused so hard on bringing Leon fans in it forgot to be a game,
I hate these A.I. companions, they just strip off the horror factor. RE4's Ashley is just straight annoying too even though she dont help fight. The isolation. Thats what makes RE games good
@Just A Gamer where was outbreak on the list? It definitely was better than 4 or 5 and I loved 5 I know I'm in the minority on it so come@me but outbreak is highly regarded as the most underrated RE
Resident Evil 4 was a masterpiece because although there where some action set pieces, it was used sparingly and just enough to make the gravity of the situation feel important. 75% of the game still NAILED the creepy survival horror and dark sense of dread, with an occasional action scene being thrown in to break up the tension. As more games came out they began to shift that 25/75 action/horror into 100% action and the games lost their sense of identity.
Completely agree, when the chainsaw guy came the first time i played the game i was so scared, the castle area had theses creepy enemie singing weird shit, the regenerados... It was still a scary experience for me with a bit of Michael bay shit in the mix but i didn't mind, i always hear re4 is the first action focused re, but first re3 tried to be action focused aswell and only re5 completely committed to full action, the coop while fun didn't help with that.
@@anastasiapuppy8910 uh idk bro even when I was a few years I was never really that scared only by regenerators and the thing u fight while waiting in the elevator
Is so agree, RE Outbreak could use a remake. That game was just a bit too far ahead of it's time. I member having it on PS2, but it was a bummer because I couldn't connect online to play (think we were still rocking 56k modem) with other people and the computer AI was horrible. I also wasn't a fan of the areas where zombies would constantly repawn, but a modern day take done right would be sweet.
I really liked RE6 a lot. To me, I've grown attached to the characters in the Resident Evil universe, and seeing 4 campaigns where they all intertwine was a amazing. You never knew when or who you'd cross paths with next.
Eh I guess but there are better already *established* characters who should've been in the game, yk ever heard of Jill Valentine? or Claire Redfield?!, They seriously messed up a lot and could've taken the story in an more intriguing direction had Claire been there with Leon and then they find sherry or Jill finding Chris as she's Chris' ride or die as shown in RE5, she should've been the one who found Chris, not Piers, She also a cofounder of the BSAA! so she should've had a role in the story, she would also know how to better console Chris with his Amnesia and help him get back on his feet. But eh on second thought, Piers could be with her I guess but seriously, If they wanted to have all the characters intertwine, *then have all of them intertwine!* . And also speaking about missed opportunities, That moment where Sherry see's Leon and hugs him would've held a lot more weight if Claire was there too, after all Claire was the one who took more care of her in RE2, Just search up wasted potential videos and you'd be baffled on how much of a compelling story they missed out on but you do you.
@@welloetelloe In the context of "it almost ended the series" it actually means everything since sales is what drives companies to make new entries. RE6 is the worst RE for us fans but it was a fantastic game for Capcom.
i was iffy about your brand shift but this video sold me, its great to hear you a lot more light-hearted and the new audio and graphics work so well. Bravo
@@littleshadow2707 I really wish they would cut nothing. RE3R is good, but it’s a mess because Capcom cut a lot, and retconned the lore. If 4 got the same treatment, fans would be very disappointed
@@littleshadow2707 yeah. Seeing how Capcom was able to creat gore and disgusting visuals, I was hoping we were getting a chance to see the Grave Digger and Nemesis without his trenchcoat limiter. But then they cut all of them, replace second form Nemesis with a scripted dog form, and cut the whole section of the Watchtower
Same, most of the time I also play coop with my friend and im having a lot of fun playing it. The game wasn't meant to have the same feeling as previous residents evil game but it still pretty fun to play it.
@@casualcadaver code veronica had more value to the storyline/universe and characters of resident evil though, especially compared to 0. Not to mention the playing mechanics of switching characters halfway through the game, so you had to always reserve ammo like crazy, and be aware if what you were carrying and what you were storing for an inevitable character swap. If 0 got attention, code veronica deserved at least a passing nod.
The resident evil 6 sound track literally gives me the sense of impending doom well the rest of the soundtracks gives me the sense of safety but feeling like I’m about to be attacked about Any minute.
Amen to that, no matter how people hate it, at least 6 was continuation of canon story with original character, since we barely got nothing about canon story after 6, i consider RE6 is my favorite. RE7 was good gameplaywise, but the story was, meh.
@murat balamsa yeah but at some point it just stops becoming scary and that was the problem, even resident evil 4 had that horror atmosphere and it was scary. They just needed to rememeber their roots for 5 6. Thus they made biohazard, they released it for a reason. They needed to get back what made them popular in the first place. And though biohazard may not feel like a resident evil game, it was dawm good.
Well, I mean as the story progresses fear is realistically going to be drown out. You literally have a military force created for the express purpose of dealing with BOWs and such shit. The world is plagued with shit like that and the people coped. It's practically normal for the main characters at this point and they've learned how to cope and combat it rather than fear it. Which reflects in the game play. Only way to go back to genuine fear would require entirely new characters and scenarios. Like what they attempted with 7.
My biggest issues were in Jake's and Chris' campaigns. I was split screen with my best friend on his XBox 360. In the first chapter for Chris, you aren't provided enough ammo from the boxes. Playing split screen co-op on the 360 gives you enough ammo for one person despite having two players so you are always short. For Jake's campaign, is felt like a huge drag. I hate the first half of chapter 2 because searching the tundra for those missing pieces takes too long and is frustrating. Chapter 3 wasn't so bad but finding those coins kind of sucked if you didn't realize they were dropped. We had to look online how to deal with the tank because the characters don't say what you have to do when playing co-op
INCOMING!! A very unpopular opinion!! Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6 didn't feel like the typical RE games because the characters you were in control of became better at surviving the survival horror. Like 4 for instance. Leon was no longer a rookie cop on his first day on the job. You can't expect these seasoned vets to be one trick ponies forever, do you? Why don't people understand this? Capcom does. 😂😂😂
I do agree, but the sense of danger should still be there. These are monstrosities with the capability to rip you to shreds while eating multiple rounds before going down. To make the character capable of casually fist fighting these things etc is just laughable. The main characters are still human/mortal after all.
It makes sense that in the universe the characters would get stronger. But that shouldn't affect the game's design negatively. The number one thing is that a game should be fun to play. RE4 was fun. RE5 was fun with coop. RE6 wasn't fun.
Now this is an argument I totally love. I would make 0 sense to have Chris Redfield, the zombie murderbot soldier, be a disoriented special ops policeman like in RE1. This is why classic Silent Hill always made a point about *James/Harry/Heather is inexperienced in fighting and can barely use guns optimally* , because horror in games ultimately comes from helplessness, this is why Tank controls were so fear inducing, your character, despite being able to walk and run like any person does, is a little clumsy and isn't a gymnastics prodigy, headshots being RNG had always made me really angry on RE, because it involves no skill, but that frustration was also met with an alternative, you can headshot with one tap, _but only with high power weaponry whose ammo is rare and/or expensive_ It's masterful in its own way. I will defend with cape and sword that Chris should not be remotely bad at killing zombies or other kinds of monsters, because he's just way too experienced at this, same reasoning behind RE: ORC, you aren't a survivor, you are a soldier and, as much as it hurts the horror, you should BE capable of easily handling 5 zombies in a room with a handgun and a knife.
Dear gods that theme from RE7... Every time I hear it I remember the ending from RE7 and remember just how shit I felt about it. I never, EVER, thought I would feel bad about killing what essentially was a walking biological apocalypse...
@@souseiseki90 I mean, I don't know why it should be hated on. RE7 was refreshing as it went back to the series' core, while incorporating plenty of action for the RE4 and RE5 fans of the run and gun style, and the RE0-RE3 strategy and horror fans.
Nache Cash I said early version of RE7 which is supposed to be more action based like Re6. The reason they changed RE7 into the version that we have now is because the lukewarm review of re6
Elijah Virrey bingo! Also if it’s a normal / non speedrun playthrough it’s headshot + kick + knife them while they’re down and repeat. Seeing people spray the whole magazine missing half the shots and missing kick prompts makes me cringe
I'd also like to point out that action is just as important an ingredient in the RE Recipe as horror, strategy, and isolation are. You couldn't remove the action element altogether and still consider it a "true Resident Evil game". Since the series' inception, guns and fighting have been a big part of the equation.
The whole series might have worked together with the title "Biohazard" instead of "Resident Evil" bc people expect horror. With "Biohazard" it all goes well with the whole infection situation goin on.
YES!!! Exactly plus it would make sense that the original characters wouldn't be too scared of the situation they are in( being as the creations of Umbrella or association with them) because like a soldier going to war again and again they wouldn't have been new to them. Their only fear would have been failure to stop them.
This is sadly Capcom's of USA's fault. If it stayed Bio-Hazard then we wouldn't have this stupid amount of hate for RE6 since plotwise it makes sense. Since it was always about the insane BOWs and not just -zombies- that people zoom in on. Like did people forget you fight a gangster amount of things in the first game? Bats, spiders, dogs, snakes, PLANTS and fricking SHARK!!!!!! And ofcourse... the true star... Tyrant. Zombies are literally the foot soilders of all the games. You don't worry about them.... you worry about everything else.
Idk why they change into Resident and Evil. It's not making any sense. Biohazard make everything comes to sense. Greatly disappointed. Im long fan of RE series.
@@yuzuichikawa yoo bro ur one of the only people I agree honestly u make sense, speak facts, and don’t put ur feelings in everything, honestly one of my favorite games of all time is 5
Same RE5 is much more frustrating and boring than RE6 and even the predecessor. The partner literally is spending ammo more then I do lol. *I need emmo!* In the end I always keep the better gun for myself and just let her a 9mm handgun. edit: RE6 is indeed better because you can say "thanks" when you make a critical headshot plus the abilities/feat like infinite ammo for this gun, powerful meelee hits etc. made the game more fun and hardcore.
this video was a surprise to be sure but a pleasant one, while your previous horror content will stay as your bread and butter, i would realy like to see you do more one of vids on movies/games in the future.
It's most expensive game Capcom ever created and didn't made significant profit. It's cheap as hell novadays, even I bought it which I refuse to pay indirectly with 3 in 1 pack
Yeah, Resident Evil live action movies get millions even though they are shit, and? I can't believe people still see the amount of profit as an equivalent of a good or loyal product.
Didn't RE6 sell the most ? I honestly liked RE6 alot I played it coop with a friend on every campaign and it was enjoyable, it wasn't a classic horror title I would call horror but it was a good game to me. I just can't understand why you'd say it "failed" as an RE fan it failed me in terms of a "horror game" but it in no way shape or form failed
Yes it did, not financially but as a Resident Evil sequel, you even said so yourself. Stop caring about market sales, you're not a Capcom executive, judge a product based on what it is, not on how much money it put on the pocket of others.
@@odeiomine I mean I started playing at RE4 and loved the puzzle solving and over the shoulder playstyle. Yeah, I went back and played the earlier games(I even played outbreak). At no point was I disappointed with the series. I actually only became disappointed when clearing RE7 and thought I completed Outlast again. At least RE6 can say it had some of the franchise's most recognizable characters at launch, RE7 didn't even feel remotely connected to the rest of the series.
Because fast paced action feels pretty connected to the rest of the series. What makes a RE game is the overwhelming atmosphere, most games nail this, 5 not so much and 6 throws it away completely. Honestly i get why you may dislike RE7, but i prefer that it borrowed elements from Outlast than borrowing from generic action shooters.
I feel like RE6 and RE7 are misunderstood. My friend and I loved the coop. The mechanics were amazing when you actually mastered them, just a steep learning curve
@@DC-tt6zc *lol agreed. I enjoyed 6 actually. The only RE i didn't like was gun survivor on the PS1. Played it like, thrice. Never really liked it albeit forcing myself to. Like FF XIII*
Resident Evil 6 came out in 2012, Resident Evil 7 came out in 2017. Resident Evil 6 has sold 6.8 million, Resident Evil 7 has sold 5.4 already. Shocking that RE6 has (barely) made more money when it has had a five year head start across two console generations.
Data Grab yeah... for some reason people don’t grasp what good horror games are these days. Res evil 5/6 are action survivals. But not horror. Re/4 managed to keep a balance but after that it went downhill. They managed to redeem themselves with res 7
It is amazing as a co:op game with a friend! It may fail for hardcore fans of the originals, but I am loving right now! I'm playing with my sister and we have so much fun!
Re6 is capcom's third most successful game, not from the franchise, but game in general. I don't think RE6 sucked. If it sold 3rd best, it's THAT good. Of course, nothing can beat RE5 other than Monster Hunter World.
Resident Evil 6 fast-paced action was fun to play, especially with a friend; however, nothing beats Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil 4 had a little action and it was also terrifying, keeping the horror atmosphere that was in the previous installments that made it so memorable.
RE:7's save room soundtrack is my favorite. I played through the entire game in VR so when I hear it, it makes me feel like I'm back in that creepy house, wondering if Jack Baker is going to see me when I decide to step out.
@@the_allucinator I mean, Code Veronica was supposed to be the true sequel to Resident Evil 2 whilst Resident Evil 3 was supposed to be the spin-off title. But due to contractual obligations, we got the inverse of that. At any rate, Code Veronica is notable as it is the last true Resident Evil game before the gameplay shifted with 4.
I enjoyed it mainly because of the character development, i mean, THAT was friggin awesome. The gameplay itself was pretty good too actually, though a little tweaking would have been nice. More Resident Evil(y)
The game didn’t fail tho.. being another one of capcoms best selling titles and the controls were the best in the series. Sad how people still blindly hate on this game
It's not resident evil. That's why it's hated, and deservedly so. The only thing that is 'Resident evil' about RE6 and 5, is the title on the front of the box lol.
Helen Line “Not resident evil” but it has the story of resident evil, characters, weapons, the story has been ramping up in scale since re3 to something like this. More blind criticism lmao
@@CallForGrandPappy it's not resident evil in identity. Characters and story have nothing to do with that. It's like making dead space a call of duty action game. It just doesn't work. So there's nothing blind about my criticism, most RE fans will agree with me. Also, sales do not mean shit in correlation with how good the game is. The Resident evil movies are great evidence of this. Just because it makes money doesn't mean it's good.
Helen Line the movies are shit I agree but if you look at the game for what it is then you can appreciate it for what it is, re4 changed so much after re3 and y’all love that game, don’t see how this game is worse after it only improves on that except for some aspects. If you don’t like the game that’s fine I’m just trying to explain how some people like it and how it still is resident evil.
You totally convinced me in the save room themes part. Absolutely clever, explaining without words why I don't like RE6. Too much Michael Bay content less Horror.
I got into the franchise with 4 but skipped 6. Going back now, after the big update...it's actually my favorite out of the franchise. There's really a lot to love about it.
I am new to the RE fandom, I didn't find RE6 that bad... I actually liked it especially that co-op though. *... well it's just my opinion. i'm a terrible fan, aren't i?*
No you’re not a terrible fan. RE6 wasn’t a bad game. Like he said it was just a bad Resident evil game. It was far too detached from the roots of the franchise. However, The Co-op in re6 was extremely fun so liking the game isn’t wrong.
Lol I honestly never beat resident evil 5 and thought it was the best because I was always scared of the early bosses in the game but I guess resident 5 was considered one of not so good games
Honestly RE6 is still one of my favorite games ever The key factor is it requires Multiplayer otherwise it's not that great it was a game ahead of it's time and it was PACKED full of content I really want another RE6 and was actually hoping RE2 Remake would have a mode for it
What you fail to realize is that as each title became more complex they also became more expensive to create. Thus in order to turn a profit they had to sell ever greater copies than before. So even though it sold more copies than other titles it did not offset the design cost and failed to meet the goal that was set. Resident Evil 4 was successful because it cost a significant less amount to make than Resident Evil 6.
I saw advertisements when I was watching the newest episodes of The Walking Dead. Capcom clearly knew who to market to. The question is, how many of these people that bought it took it back, because we got ours four days after release and there were already quite a few used copies for sale that had been traded in? And of those who decided to keep it, how many found it worth finishing or attempting to finish?
I was one of those suckers who bought it on release day. I swore to myself to never touch resident evil again after the failure that was re5. But their slick marketing focused on the horror aspects of Leon's campaign and actually convinced me it went back to the theme of the older titles. I didn't take long, I fact I was already smacked in the face by the action oriented opening. From there it went downhill. Didn't even bother to finish Leon's campaign. It was more of everything bad. Everything spawned with Re4 is garbage in regards to resident evil. Starting with 4 resident evil started to feel like an arcade game rather than a survival horror. Glowing ammo packs spawning from defeated enemies, buying gear from vendors? You got to be kidding me.
It failed. It failed horribly. They expected 10 million sales the first year, and needed 7 million to break even. They JUST hit that 7 million mark 6 years later. It doesn't matter AT ALL how many copies are sold if it isn't enough to even cover the costs, let alone make profit. Also, the game was crucified by fans. They listened and changed RE7 for the better. If 7 would have been like 6, it wouldn't have sold at all. Being fun is totally subjective, and judging from critics and fans you are in the minority lol. Personally, I thought the game was total dog shit. Every campaign was trash. It was more like one of those fucking horrible Resident Evil films than a true RE game.
The only thing I keep hearing about it is that it goes more towards action and horror. That has nothing to do with graphics, gameplay , sound, you know... all the things that actually makes the game. Just because a game goes in another direction does not make it a bad game.
I literally just finished playing this game again yesterday, it's a good game but not a good resident evil game. if that makes any sense lol. also Chris's campaign is the worst rip
Ironically I found it the worst because a friend and I played it together and when we reached the last area He played Piers and I shit you not despite all of the gun busting action of every other chapter before the last. In the last one I had only a handgun and no ammo. We spent way longer than we needed to beat the boss.
In my opinion, gameplay-wise RE5 and RE6 were good games. They were fun to play alone, but even better in co-op and I enjoyed going through the stories they offered. RE4 was clearly the beginning of the end for the series, though. Establishing this more advanced, action-focused, quick-time event gameplay was the path to killing the horror elements of the series and Capcom could not resist taking that route. The thing, though, is that RE4 had an unnerving atmosphere and mysterious circumstances that leaves you unfamiliar and on-edge the whole way through and even though I was too afraid of it to play it for a while as a kid, it's one of my favorite RE experiences as an adult. RE5 dropped the dark atmosphere and tossed you into sunny Africa. The fuck were they thinking there? It's unfamiliar if you're not used to African culture and architecture, but it honestly just made it feel like you were fighting in a warzone like a soldier rather than surviving an epidemic. It was still fun and had the most bizarre and wonderful renditions of Wesker, but it's obviously not what Resident Evil fans wanted and that's fair. RE6 tried to appease everyone and ultimately displeased most fans. I believe it is a fun game and aside from Ada's campaign, which without the later-added co-op was too much for me to enjoy, I still love the game. I'm a bit burned out of it, though, because I played it _a lot_ back when I first got proper internet access on my PS3. RE5 was my first game to play online and then RE6 came out after and I played that online, too. So much so that it has sort of killed the game for me and it may be a long time before I can come back, but I still stand by my belief that it was a good game. It's not even a bad Resident Evil game, it's just that it segments all of the elements (horror + action of Leon's story, isolation and puzzles of Ada's) that the original games from 1-4 had in varying degrees. For me, that's fine, I liked all of the campaigns and it was interesting to play one campaign and get a somewhat different experience from it even though ultimately it played the same, but Resident Evil fans are a picky lot and I don't mean that as an insult. Overall the story just got more intense and more ridiculous which compounded the hate for RE5 and RE6. People aren't willing to give these two games a chance and enjoy them for what they are: co-op action games. Which is fine, don't buy it if you don't want it, but while the hate for where the series went is fine, pretending they're bad games is not. They're good games with bad direction.
I mean there was no "beginning of the end"...the series is still incredibly strong. RE7 was lauded for it's horror focus and return to the series roots, with a new perspective. RE2 Remake is already getting great reviews from it's demo and is one of the most anticipated games of this year already. Saying something like "beginning of the end," makes it sound like it's already over, and the ship sunk after 6.
@@Neodustin Never bothered me too much. It was the wrong direction for Resident Evil, I won't deny that, but those games were fun, especially as cooperative experiences which was something I desperately wanted as a kid. It wasn't until I finally got an internet connection compatible with my PS3 that I was able to play online with someone and it was thanks to Resident Evil 5 that I first completed a co-op campaign playthrough with someone. Still have the message that person sent me saved on my PS3.
It’s weird watching this video after binging your latest creepy uploads. But fr, RE5 and RE6 were my introductions to the RE franchise and the co-op was fun as shit
The co-ops ARE really fun. And the games may be just action games but they weren't bad, at least 5 wasn't bad. 6 has tons of issues but I enjoy playing it

They didn't nail the formula, they just copied their old game and modernized it. Nailing the formula was RE7, not RE2. RE2 is icing on the cake. If RE7 was trash, RE2 wouldn't have been made, since it uses RE7's engine.

They could've made chris's campaign way back in re 5 but a lil more horror just add the stuff from 6. Then re6 could've been just leons story then it would've been passible
If wanted action then I wouldn't have bought it. I didn't know it was like that though.
6 may not have fit the traditional res formula but it was a hell of an action experience on it's own

@@PapaShmoke If you’re expecting RE games to be scary, you’re playing the wrong game. Just saying.
I can understand why some people hate RE6 but I had a great time playing it with my brother and that's a good thing because there aren't many local co-op / splitscreen PC games made like this anymore.
You captured the exact reason I have special place in my heart for this game
Jay Jays honestly I feel like it’s a good game, but not a good resident evil game.
Everything is more fun with friends/family.
I actually really enjoyed that game!
Me too
The characters are accustomed to the treat that's why they are going on horror action approach since re4 even 3 had a Dodge mechanic
These people are desensitized of the event and knows how to handle such incidents and not oblivious anymore of what's happening and it's now their direct mission
That's why re7 wa able to go back from its roots because it's a new character fully unaware and I'll equip/exp of the horrors he'll face
RE2 remake is a remake but still had that modern mechanic on to it and it's a retelling of the characters origins of course it'll be leaning more towards horror

Dont forget lighting i spent the whole game blind like i was playing silent hills!
I played mercenaries for hundreds of hours after finishing the game.
Thankyou for this!

VenNoel VA i loooove it
Amen to that, no matter how people hate it, at least 6 was continuation of canon story with original character, since we barely got nothing about canon story after 6, i consider RE6 is my favorite. RE7 was good gameplaywise, but the story was, meh.
same buddy, love it so much
I felt like they just went too Hollywood with RE6....
Wouldnt surprise me if they took advice from Michael Bay
I like Jake’s it’s my favorite probably for sentimental reasons though tbh
I was thinking the same things through out this video. People don't stay the same.... Just look at Chris's arms! XD
Still fells like a survivor horror and resident evil more than 6.
This is why classic Silent Hill always made a point about *James/Harry/Heather is inexperienced in fighting and can barely use guns optimally* , because horror in games ultimately comes from helplessness, this is why Tank controls were so fear inducing, your character, despite being able to walk and run like any person does, is a little clumsy and isn't a gymnastics prodigy, headshots being RNG had always made me really angry on RE, because it involves no skill, but that frustration was also met with an alternative, you can headshot with one tap, _but only with high power weaponry whose ammo is rare and/or expensive_
It's masterful in its own way.
I had a really good time playing every campaign.
Thats all that matters.
Dear gods that theme from RE7... Every time I hear it I remember the ending from RE7 and remember just how shit I felt about it.
I never, EVER, thought I would feel bad about killing what essentially was a walking biological apocalypse...

Yeah, what an asshole. Calling RE6 a bad game on a video about why RE6 was a bad game -- this just isn't the place for that conversation.
Well the title of the game is already it's face now.. It's still called Biohazard jn Japan tho.
RE6 was the second RE game which sold the most after RE5, so it's not really a huge fail lol
Capcom would probably disagree with you, considering they decided to completely change the course of the series after RE6 came out.
Right I love RE6
But it didn't fail, it sold ridiculously well and was a lot of fun.
everyone is making negative videos because they get the most views. the guy even says he likes resident evil 6 in the video.
RageJ HELL YEAH! I don’t think it sold more than 5 though
Nobody wants a "fun" resident evil. They want a heart pumping survival horror thrill ride just like resident evil has and always should be.
The only thing I keep hearing about it is that it goes more towards action and horror. That has nothing to do with graphics, gameplay , sound, you know... all the things that actually makes the game. Just because a game goes in another direction does not make it a bad game.

Re 7 is good, re 8 is frickin great game
I wanted to leave a reply telling you that I've come to the same conclusion myself and I'm glad people like you are out here in the wild.
True and in a nice way
I mean there was no "beginning of the end"...the series is still incredibly strong.
Lucifronz As much as I like RE4, I resent it because it paved the way for the hot garbage that was 5 and 6.
@@Neodustin Never bothered me too much. It was the wrong direction for Resident Evil, I won't deny that, but those games were fun, especially as cooperative experiences which was something I desperately wanted as a kid. Just different aspects of each game, I’m very exited about what direction they are going with now and I believe that having variety is a good thing. I’m hella hyped for Re2 remake because most likely if they didn’t remake it idk if I’d ever been able to experience it in any shape way or form at all.
I liked 6. even Chris COD part was good.
Chris part of the game was great to me.
“Imma just go do a duplex on this zombie real quick”
re4 had a nice combination of action quick time events and horror especially in the village and castle which i think is the reason that makes it great...btw majini's werent infected with uroburos, they were infected with plagas just like ganados just a little more advanced
RE4 wasn't easy like the rest
