Actor Tom Hanks dedicates Tom Hanks Center for Motion Pictures at Wright State University

wright.edu/news Acclaimed actor, producer and director Tom Hanks paid a visit to Wright State University to dedicate the Tom Hanks Center for Motion Pictures, saying he hopes the center inspires students to do the hard work necessary to launch film careers. Nearly 2,000 students, faculty, staff and others turned out April 19 to see Hanks and witness the ribbon-cutting for the newly renovated center. “I hope that this building spurs the students that come here - the freshman that are here now and the freshman that will be here in the next 20 years - I hope that it spurs them to working harder than they ever have in their lives,” said Hanks. “Because if you work the hardest you ever will in your life at the beginning of your career, the rest takes care of itself.” More at webapp2.wright.edu/web1/newsro...

I am proud of this dedication for WSU. It is a bold step so far from Hollywood. WSU again is big on the map, but how did this happen? Vision, powerful and generous people, excellence staff, and others who laid the ground work. What does The Center for Motion Pictures need, writers, directors, many helping hands, and Actors, great actors. 46 years ago at WSU began another bold step far from Broadway, The WSU Theater off Campus in a rented Church. Then came the current building on Campus, for Theatre and Dance, and now Motion Pictures. One of the Visionaries at that time was, Abe J.
