What I love is the low-end torque & how relaxed it feels at 80 mph. It's just spinning 4,000 rpm at 80. My Vstrom 650 did 5,950 rpm at 80. One thing I didn't like. The thin, narrow, pointed seat that slopes down. Once you upgrade it your seat is now 34" plus.

you can adjust throttle slack i one minute - this is not ride by wire! it's regular throttle cable there.

Nice color on the bike. Im also a North Jersey NC700X owner. Great to see someone else riding this bike up here.

Nice bike, I have a 2015 nc700x and I love it. I'm a Jersey guy too and I am now contemplating a Delkevic muffler, I just can't make up my mind which one I want. Throttle free play can be adjusted where the cables attach to the grip. I think there are instructions in the owners manual but if not, you can also download a service manual for free from the web, just google it. Ride safe.

Thanks for the tip. I've done research and I was able to adjust it to were I want it.
You cant go wrong with a Delkvic on an nc. Doesn't matter which one you pic. I have the 9" oval and it sounds awesome! Sounds great, quality and price.

Hey Guys! I live in the Bronx and also own an NC700X with DCT. I'd love to go for a ride with you all sometime. I'm a pretty easy rider - as I imagine most NC owners are. Let's figure out a way to meet!

Lock the helmet to the subframe like all the rest of us and use the storage space for things that must be stored. Just because a helmet will fit in the storage does not mean it's a must.

Jeff Martin you have a point. I never store my helmet in the nc. I usually store water, knife, wallet, gloves, a hammock and so on. I still have a ton of space leftover.

Nice looking bike! The front fender extension looks Great and you are right it should have been included but I guess that is why they want to make money on the after market. Good prices out there for this bike one dealer is selling new 2015 models for 3400 bucks.

Thomas R. Smith $3400 is a steal. I would jump on that if you are thinking about getting one. Depending on the millage and other factors of course. Mine has been great so far and I continue to enjoy every minute of it. Thanks for the comment.

I see your comment is 7 months old, but just out of curiosity, where did you find a 2015 nc700x for $3400?

I got the same bike, and color, well, mine is a 2015, DCT model. sticker new was $7400.00 for DCT and the ABS brakes, which saved my ass 2 times already since I've had it, (2 cars pulling out in front of me). so, Is that Lake Hopatcong your at?

I'm also living on Lake Hopatcong, nice to see these bikes being ridden here. Currently riding just a 500cc cruiser, i'm looking for a nice commuter that can still take care of itself on highways. Not doing much off-road riding so i'm not too worried about that aspect. Thoughts?

Your description of the seating position and slight forward lean remind me of the new Rebel. I prefer the position of the handlebar on the old Rebel more

With conventional throttle bikes the throttle cable is linked directly to the throttle mechanism. with ride-by-wire (taken from 'fly-by-wire', a technology originally developed by Airbus industries for use in commercial aviation) your throttle inputs are now being read by a computer which sends a signal to the throttle mechanism, injectors, etc. The idea is that the computer can 'adapt' power demands to maximize performance by taking into account multiple factors (the computer can read sensor data from the bike literally millions of times per second and adjust engine power accordingly). The same throttle input will result in slightly different power output and engine performance, depending on riding conditions and environmental factors.

not supposed to ride with fingers on brake. basic safety technique. should ride with hand on clutch and throttle.

There are hundreds of forums discussing the matter of "covering your brakes". Example: "MSF only teaches not to cover the brakes at the Basic Rider Courses, and for an absolute beginner it is a vaild technique. They have not developed the instincts to not panic and grab a whole bunch of brake every time they feel uncomfortable (often without releasing the throttle). This is why they teach beginners to roll off the throttle and progressively squeeze the brake, to develop the muscle memory to roll off and squeeze without thinking about it. If you take the Advanced Rider Course they do teach to cover the brakes, or at least say that it is a good idea."
