    I've had my Sony 65" A1E for almost a week now. What a fantastic picture! The only thing that finally made me take my ten year old Pioneer Kuro to the recycling center.

    Another great review! Thanks Vincent!! You are one of the most truthful reviewers on youtube and the internet!! I am really looking forward to watch the in depth review of the A1E and comparing it with other OLED televisions of 2017, especially the LG models. Looking to see who has better motion blur, who has the better shadow detail and produce less clipping, who has the best smoothness of gradation of colors, who has the best handling of artifacts and noise on screen, who has less image retention and handles it best, who is superior in HDR, just who makes the brightest OLED television, just review it all!! Who really is king of the 2017 OLED's??? :D

    Great video explaining the settings, but I would like to see you do a video on how to properly set up the Sony UBP-X800 with the 930E or A1E. also any idea whats considered standard motion flow in the custom setting is it 2,3,4? the reason I ask is because I like to use clearness to 1 when playing games to help with lag and motion blur I'm not a fan of the game mode setting, but I like the look that comes standard but in that mode I can't use clearness unless I'm in custom. keep up the great videos.

    finally a channel that is going to compare these tvs side by side. All other channels seem afraid to do this for some reason. the best you usually get is a static image using two separate screen shots. I did this at best Buy the other day and was very surprised that the sony killed the lg watching the same 4k hdrr movie content at the same time. usually you can't do that at a best Buy but that day I had a good rep there. Can't wait to see what you guys find considering this is basicly the only channel I totally trust to do a fair and balanced comparison. also please compare these tvs to the led Samsung's and such also in real time. Basicly, whatever you choose as best I am buying but I am afraid that with HDMI 2.1 coming out soon that all these tvs will become paper weights in no time from what I read.

    Hi Vincent and the HDTVTest Crew.
    Please test how this Oled performs on low Luma Saturation Sweeps.
    (Don't just do Saturation sweeps at 100% or 75% Luminance levels, but also look at the Sweeps at 50%, 30% and 10% f.e.)
    All LG Oleds so far show colors that are far too saturated (dE2000 exceeding 30) at those Luma Levels (Color Space: Normal), when bt709 content is played, which acts in the accact opposite way as on LCDs (on LCDs with low Luma signals the saturation triangle gets smaller, on LG Oleds it "explodes").
    Judging from an image run through an eeColor LUT box, even with a generic "desaturate Shadow Tones" LUT (Lightspace provides one as a free download), much of the "characteristic" OLED look is caused by that quirk, and not by the display being color accurate.

    I knew after your tweet that it's the A1 :D This HDMI situation is absurd, no reason to put low bandwidth port. But for most 4K Blu-rays the 1 and 4 should be fine I guess. I need 2 and 3 for PC and PS4 Pro. If you have PS4 Pro or xbox One S or PC then please check if you really can feel that about a frame less input lag with 4k signal, just to make sure if the upscaler+leo bodnar result is legit. Also please make a lengthy video review (feel free to make a 20-30 mins video), you need to cover many things and comparing to the LG. Gradient comparison, motion and upscaling (compare the same movie in 4k BD and 1080p BD). settings tips, tips for games. Please make this happen :)

    Hi,
    I have my DVDs, Blu-rays and 4K blu-rays collection from USA where I lived last 25yrs. Last year I purchased multi region OPPO-UDP 205. Currently I live in Moscow and about to buy KD 55 A1 here. Local broadcasting as you know goes on PAL/SECAM. So, my question is this: will European version of this TV be able to read my NTSC movies? Thanx for your help. By the way, I like your reviews,- pretty informative and helpful.

    maybe a little wierd question, but still... I bought yeasterday a new sony tv. The first thing that a salesman told me is that they ran out of them...but then he checked again & said that they still have one in warehouse because one lady bouth only 1 instead of two (she made a reservation for 2). So my question is, how can I tell if the TV is originaly factory sealed and not the one that they have had as a distributive exhibit in store (and resealed)? I foud that I have two tapes, one on top of the other. The one on top is longer and winkled and even the box is on top a little bit torn...

  • @Ghost-Matrix
    @Ghost-Matrix 7 років тому +22

    Well that confirms it for me. That sticker on the box saying "Demostration purpose only, sale of this set is strictly prohibited". means review samples are always cherry picked for the review process where standard ones the consumer buys are not, thus explains why I have had so many problems with backlight bleed, vertical and horizontal banding etc..

    • @hdtvtest
      @hdtvtest  7 років тому +9

      Besides reviewing TV, we calibrate many TVs for customers in the field. The review samples provided by Sony have always been very similar to units that consumers can buy. You could be very sensitive to such uniformity issues, or are not using optimal settings/ ambient lighting.

    • @Ghost-Matrix
      @Ghost-Matrix 7 років тому +1

      I would say I am more sensitive than the "standard" consumer but its not just me who has noticed the issues I have had with my Televisions in the past. I have had 3 Sony LED tv's in the past and everyone had massive backlight bleed (which was so bad Sony even had an auto dim feature you couldnt turn off) Two pansonic plasma were returned because one had weird colours and the other very bad green ghosting. An LG 4k tv I bought a few years ago had horizontal banding and quite bad backlight bleed but my latest Samsing 65 ks9000 is one of the worst televisions for problems I have ever had. Very clear vertical banding (especially watching sports) and some backlight bleed. The only make television I have ever had that I had zero problems was a couple of Philips TV's. Oh and also a couple of projectors which were also fine.

    • @darthniloc6099
      @darthniloc6099 7 років тому +16

      That why rtings never accept a review model they always purchase the tv's from a store. They even bought two Q7f's because the first one underperformed when they reviewed the tv. After contacting Samsung to see what they had to say about the Q7f underperforming getting around 750nits when Samsung claimed 1500-2000 nits, Samsung said it was a bug in their unit and offered to send them a Q7f to review and they simply said no thank you and went out to buy a second tv to review and it was pretty much the same as the first Q7f they purchased.

    • @soylencer
      @soylencer 7 років тому +5

      Mr Mark, respectfully: You have apparently had more "bad" TVs than most people have had total TVs in their lifetime. Respectfully, maybe your expectations of TV technology, and margin of error are unrealistic. It's generally considered bad form for a manufacturer to make "tricky" products for reviews, but would we expect them to show us anything other than their best unit? Have you ever tried a premium projector -- you might find fewer gripes with a nice premium projector.

    Hi Vincent,
    Can you please test these 2017 OLED with everyday content. I would like to know how they cope with content from Sky Hd like Game of Thrones, Penny Dreadful & Peaky Blinders also stuff like Mr Robot on Amazon. As these are the kind of sources that Oled seem to struggle with. I sent my LG OLED back because of the way it handled stuff on Sky. I & plenty of enthusiasts on Av Forums would be very interested is Sony's smooth graduation feature cleans a lot of issues up compared to the competitors.

    Where can I find a good OLED 40-42" TV, I want to use one as a PC monitor. The LG, in particular, have 1mms response time which is ideal for gaming. 55" is too huge to sit on my desk...or any desk.

      Check out Barnacules Nerdgasm's channel. A couple of videos from 2016 show his gaming setup where he's used 3x50" Samsung UHD TVs, AND says the lag is virtually not noticeable at all, even when he plays FPS games (video shows him playing Battlefield). Which means, with these newer OLED panels, response time should be even better and that much closers to being ideal even for use as gaming monitors.

      After some back and forth mailing with Sony I got this problem solved by a "Forced data reset" TV is back to factory settings and everything is accessible. (unplug every cable connection, hold on the TV itself at the back the power-off and the volume - key and plug in the power cord and hold the buttons till green signal light.. on screen you see one huge colored circle and after some 10 minutes TV seems to start up but goes into another reset with now the Android loading screen and you now have a fresh new factory reset TV)

      Good point. We'll remember to do so in future videos.

      Francisco Aguayo It's not a review video. Why should he have to list the price?

      There's a reason why very few reviewers put the price. They change over time while the video is always the same.
