Thank you for a very interesting report. I currently have a Q8 50 TDI. We are considering changing to an EV so the Q6 / SQ6 is of particular interest to us. We live in a warm climate, in Cyprus, though our village is at 474m above sea level so gets quite cold in the winter evenings though rarely below 10c at the times of day I would be driving, and obviously can be very warm at the peak of summer. We have PV panels and a net metering systems with our local energy provider. We travel approximately 11,000km per year, most round trips of 50km to our nearest major town - at sea level - on roads with a maximum limit of 80 KMPH. Ww rarely use the highway, if we do, its limit is 100kmph. Accounting how much energy our PV panels produce per annum, how much the house uses per annum and our current net metering credit balance, I have calculated that an EV that achieves 3miles per KW or better, would mean we would problem be self sufficient in fuel for the rest of my life. Realistically, would the Q6 / SQ6 achieve 3 miles per kw with that kind of use?
I just realized that your first stop at Spekerod is pretty close to the first leg I make in my Bolt EV on long trips. That ~2.5 hours and ~180-200 miles is just about right for a first pee break.

I agree. Bjorn should do 1000km challenge on the German autobahn. But I can see it can be difficult due to many reasons. Realistically he would need to achive a much higher average speed on a good route with no speed limits, that is not easy due to roadworks, lack of good high power charging stations. Another problem is that not all EV cars can go faster than 200km/h. So he would need to find the optimal speed faster than 130km/h which can be used for testing. He will definetly spend more time charging and more often. I look forward one day when we get the 1000km range car that can do 1000km on one charge when the speed is 130km/h. Of course that means the car can do even higher at 120, 100, 90,80 etc.

Talk about expected depreciation. Range always was a problem with EVs, but depreciation is actually the biggest problem and needs to be adressed in serious tests.
How would one “test” depreciation? Depreciation is going to happen. It’s worse on luxury cars, and even worse on luxury cars fitted with lots of options. BEVs in the EU seem to be depreciating faster than their ICEV equivalents… and probably will continue to do so for a while until the market and tech stabilises a bit. If it’s keeping you up at night, just lease.
Battery technology is improving every year and has not hit its peak in engineering, hence depreciating EV values also they are initially well over priced by 20-30% over ice versions.
