Having just added the 7300 to my shack, I am getting to add all kinds of experience and knowledge that will REALLY help me with my Extra exam. Things like the sample questions on the extra exam are making sense as I get to do things with the 7300. I chuckle when I hear the 7300 is an "Entry" level radio BUT feel super spoiled with the features that it has and the simplicity of the use. Now factor in your incredible videos and I cannot tell you enough how I wish that I had jumped into this hobby YEARS ago like my elmer (my father) did when I was knee high to a grasshopper. He loves his 7300 and suggested (if that is what dad's do????) that I get a 7300 and watch your A to Z series. Thank you VERY much for these videos as you make learning the radio fun, actually using the manual (which most of us never do because of the Man Rule and then miss out on so many features), and we enjoy ALL of the features of the radio WITHOUT getting frustrated. Keep up the GREAT work as I know that more 7300s are purchased because of your videos.
Thanks Tom, just picked up a new 7300 and have been trying to learn a new radio. Came across your videos here and wow, I am impressed with the information you are providing. I just subscribed, look forward to watching all you video’s. Thanks for sharing this information.... 73
I like your topic about Icom 7300 from A to Z very well. It's real for the lazy, but this way I train my English skills. Double benefit. Thanks a lot. RW1M. hi-hi.
Hey Tom - got myself a nice new 7300 a few days ago and found your channel. Seems like I have loads of watching to do in this lockdown eh! Thanks for posting all these vids, I look forward to watching them. John, South Wales UK, MW6WHL
had the Icom 7300 a good 3months and not got into to using all the good bells and whistles yet would like to change the colours in the scope like I did on my pro3 Icom thank you for taking the time to show us what the Icom 7300 can do. 73 MICHAEL M1KEY M0FCG
excellent, one cannot make heard nor tail of the manual without someone actually demonstrating what they are trying to get at. like all modern electrinics, this is a powerful machine, but has so many options that you touch something, and things change and My first thought is "how do I get back" VA3CPY
I've been going through your videos in anticipation, and my IC7300 arrived today! Now I will go back through your videos with the radio in front of me. Thank you for all the work you put into these. One question, what was the biggest surprise for you when you went through the research and preperation for these videos? 73 de N6UFZ
Hi. First, thank you for the kind words. I think the first surprise was just how many functions and features the radio has. Even though I had looked through the manual, the amount that I learned as I worked on each video really made me appreciate just how much the radio can do. I think the other big surprise is just how popular these videos have been. I am truly humbled and honored by how many nice comments and emails I have received from everyone who has been watching them.
In the scope settings menu there is an option: Scope during TX (CENTER TYPE). If this is set to ON and you have the scope in Center mode, it will display your transmit spectrum on the scope. Otherwise, yes it will freeze while you transmit
Stupid question old ham new radio how do you "clarify" a received signal with out affecting the xmit frequency so many hams still off frequency even with all these new radios lol
Hi Aaron. On most new radios, the feature is called RIT - Receive Interactive Tuning. It allows you to adjust the receive frequency without changing your transmit frequency. I will be covering this on the IC7100 in an upcoming video. I did cover it on the 7300 last year and it works pretty much the same on that radio. You can check out that video here: ua-cam.com/video/tlW9BMyufR8/v-deo.html
Hi Stephen. The 3 arrows indicate that the scope is set to fast sweep speed. If you go to the 2nd page of scope buttons ( ), you will see a SPEED button. If you repeatedly press that button it will cycle between 1, 2 and 3 arrows indicating SLOW, MEDIUM and FAST respectively.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it. Your English is clearly much better than my Russian. 😉

Instead of Edge, my radio shows Span (owner of 7300 two days).
Press the Fix/Center touch screen button. You’re in Center mode.
@@HamRadioA2Z Thx. Had the same issue. Easy fix!
it makes me want one.

What number video covers scanning?
Hi Frank. Actually, I don't think I have done a video on the scanning functions for the 7300. I guess I need to add that one to the list.
@@HamRadioA2Z Thank you, Tom, and thank you for a really great video series. I recommend to everyone who asks for a tutorial on the ICOM 7300.
