That's it. A cappella singing can seem very sparse and bare, like the California approach to vegetarianism (too. much. lettuce.). This is more analogous to vegetarianism as practiced in India, where they have 5000 years of practice and have learned how to make it satisfying.

Because this is how liturgy actually is in the church. It isnt just the choir singing constantly for all of liturgy. It's actually a lot of call and response between the deacon, priest, and choir. Only in certain circumstances do the choir continue whilst the chanting is happening.

The forerunner of the Croatian Orthodox Church was the Karlovac (Srijemski Karlovci) archbishopric, as a part of the Orthodox Church of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, whose patriarch held the title "Croatian patriarch", and Srijemski Karlovci was a part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy until 1918, and unfortunately became a part of Serbia only in 1946.
Even officially, there are already close to 20,000 Croats who declared themselves to be of the Orthodox faith in the last year's population census.
Pavelić was a STATESMAN, so he knew that with the creation of a new state, a new church is born, while Tuđman and his successors are TRAITORS, so either they don't know it, or they pretend not to know it.

After the Berlin Congress, Serbia was NOT completely independent, but a VASSAL of Austria-Hungary. That's why the Obrenovićes were killed in 1903. For whose interest ? For the interest of Britain and France. So, vassals again. Pavelić was NOT a National Socialist (the nonsense word "Nazi" was invented by Hitler's enemies), just as Milan Nedić was NOT one. Today, the evidence of the crimes of the so-called partisans is EVERYWHERE (throughout ex-Yugoslavia), while the evidence of the alleged crimes of Pavelić and Nedić is NOWHERE.

H-M H is probably correct. But since this is the first time I have listened to Rachmaninoff's version I am certainly no expert. Here is one performance of Ukranian composer Kyrylo Stetsenko's version.
      ua-cam.com/video/UMV64XnxE70/v-deo.html
As if there isn't enough confusion yet, Tchaikovsky also had his earlier version by the same name but Opus 41. Here is one version of it:
      ua-cam.com/video/DmM4i7rj_3g/v-deo.html
This and the other two composers versions I gave the URLs for are all different. I gave "Alf the Alien" the name of the performance of Rachmaninoff that an Amazon shopper said was the most authentic: Kansas City Chorale conducted by Charles Bruffy (Nimbus 5497/8).

@@pter7531 What can be true if it's not also pure? Truth itself is pure by its very nature, and the more impure or corrupt something is, it is said to become filled with the very corrupting institutions and behaviors that lead to its invariable decline. Then truth isn't something which is sacred, and without it's inerrant sacredness it is a joke not worthy of respect let alone acknowledgment of its existence. For if truth does not exist how can a lie be proven to exist or not exist?
For, I'd rather be proud of something that ends up being wrong, then to be a nihilist who values nothing to keep a tepid sense of peace which isn't sacred because nothing is in our modern nihilistic world.
The mentality that starts wars is that one has a right to stop others from living as they wish when they AREN'T forced to live among you. For this is where teaching children a fair sense of boundaries and discipline is a necessity in any civilized society, as I come from a background where my mother is Russian by blood and father Jewish here in the states. And there were times the fights can be intense, yet they haven't had physical altercations and they stay together through thick and through thin. Because it is about something deeper and higher than the here and now or pure feelings: truth is what matters.
So when this individual says the only true religion is orthodoxy I tend to agree. Whether it is Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Jain, (whatever the ideology is) by keeping something pure you are truly offering actual choices to individuals who haven't committed to anything yet, because they can clearly be given the ability to analyze, compare and contrast the information they can see and quantify it. For by giving free choice, one has a sense of being respected and not mistreated. For it is normally mistreated people who rise up and rebel against their oppressors which is a signifier of a major societal event such as a war.
For the nature of oppression is to deny an alternative, to deny one choice and by twisting the truth and making everything watered down you have essentially devalued its inherent sacredness and thereby the sacredness of its followers and people which would cascade into a calamitous effect to where nobody has meaning or value anymore. And at this point people who are desperate to be heard amongst the oppressive chaos and silence which is the tyranny of nihilism lash out and it creates a war. Folks, we've been down this road before in declining empires in history. Let's not repeat this!
