  • Learn about the symbolism behind our Wixarika / Huichol pieces at Eclectic Array from the communities in the mountains of the states of Jalisco, Nayarit, Durango & San Luis Potosí.
Seeds and small rocks were the original materials to decorate, beads came recently to create these magnificent pieces, glued with bee wax in a dedicated process with a small needle.
The figures represent the symbolism of essential elements of their culture like fire, wind, and life.
In the Wixarika culture, the deer is one of the most important symbols, which represents the hikuri that was found in the footprints of a deer. Other important symbols are the eye of God, the oblation, the stars, and animals like the Scorpio representing the transmutation.
Today, the Wixarika culture and communities have gained more recognition thanks to artisans like Tau that puts so much love into the unbelievable pieces that we share with you at Eclectic Array.
