- The Híkuri, most known as Peyote, is a master plant (cactus) that grows in the sacred desert of Wirikuta in San Luis Potosí, closer to Real de Catorce, Mexico.
The guardians of this medicine, the Wixárika people (wrongly called Huicholes), have used it since ancient times for different purposes, one of them to heal the sick; to treat physical and spiritual illnesses, and what we today call psychological problems or traumas.
For them, it has never been a drug, something prohibited, or something for recreational use. For them, it is a great teacher worthy of respect, a sacred plant, which gives them the knowledge and ability to listen to messages from the earth and the spiritual realm.
This is an interview with the Mara'akames Mario Bautista & Guadalupe López about the Wixárica vision of life, the sacred medicine & the purpose of their traditions.
*Guadalupe preferred that only Mario grant us the interview, since Spanish is not his first language, and that hinders his ability to express himself.
Thanks to the mara'akames to share with us more about their culture & the alive ancestral roots of México.
Thanks to all the family & team behind the scenes, who made this video & adventure possible.
Pamparios 🙏🏼🍃
