- This is a short update on what I have been up to this summer. I had to take some time off from the ordinary video content to spend some time with the family and also to finish painting the house, which was big project and took many weeks. This video also feature some clips from my visit to @nilsogren , where we made an awesome carpenters axe, and also some clips from our garden.

Nice to see that you're not adhearing to the age-old scandinavian tradition of working your ass off at home during your whole vacation, because you finally get some free time over for all the stuff you havn't had time to do all year, and actually relax and enjoy summer some aswell 😄

You have a work ethic rarely seen anymore, here in the United States. I repainted as well this summer, a task I greatly dislike but needs to be done, in order to maintain a house. You have a beautiful property, Herr Åhman.

Very Nice vid/production.
Love the classic Swedish red house. The red paint is more like a stain and the pigment was a byproduct of the old copper mines, I believe.

These are very interesting scaffolds, I have never seen this type in the USA.

4:05 - Dunder Mifflin Paper Company - I see what he did there hahah. Also, love the red paint that you see in a lot of Scandinavian countries. I used to think "wow they must just really like bright colors" until I found out there was an actual purpose to it and I was blown away haha. Love the videos as usual, keep up the good work!

The paint is a by-product from copper mining, and it gives excellent protection to the house. It is also very easy to maintain as it doesn't need scraping or removing before touch-up. Only a light wash/scrub. As shown in the video. And not to mention it is cheap! The colours range from almost black to orange/yellow. But Sweden is very traditional with the red hue, which of course also is present in Norway and Finland. But I'd say that Norway has much more colour variation than Sweden.

I love how green and thriving everything is there. I'm still a couple years away from even considering any serious landscaping.
Meanwhile in Texas, we just broke a record for the most consecutive +105°f days. (15) Everything not in shade by noon is burnt to a crisp.

I live in a similar climaite (but on a different continent) and the outside scenery is almost identicle. But a couple of differences I've noticet are, our apples and veg garden must be wiithin a 3m high fence otherwse the deer will feast on everything and destroy the garden in a single night. Also, from early May until the end of June we are inundated with hords of mosquitos and blackflies. Lucky Guy!

Fabulous! Really appreciate this update. You have a wonderful garden, especially your greenhouse. We have limes in our conservatory but they so much smaller than yours. Rhododendrons are a reals problem in the west coast of Scotland but I like them. They are trying to eradicate them. Thanks again. Paul, Scotland. Fantastisk! Uppskattar verkligen denna uppdatering. Thank you for the video. Although I do miss the blacksmithing videos, I appreciate you allowing us to get a glimpse of your everyday life. I keep thinking, “does he really work that slowly and methodical?”. I’m guessing you do. And we could all learn a lot from your approach.

Wow, we had an incredibly similar cat story, while growing up. My sister had a grey cat that looked exactly like Simba, named Shadow. She would get put outside at night to do all the things cats love to do at night. One morning she came home and about 1/2 of her tail was stripped completely to the bone. Our father speculated that probably the trouble-maker kids in the neighborhood, had gotten her and another cat, tied a string around their tails together and hung them over a clothes line. Of course we were horrified to hear this but it made sense for the tail to be stripped like that. In just a few days or so the bony portion fell off and Shadow lived a long healthy life after that. It’s just strange seeing your cat Simba, that looks exactly the same and even has the short tail.
So weird! A horrible story btw...

You have a beautiful place, the apple that you show as unknown in your video, here it is called "wild" and its trees often grow near the plantation areas, here they are called farms, and they grow anywhere and are almost always a mixture granny and red delicious and some other seed that the wind brought, royal gala also occurs here, anyway, very nice video, greetings from Patagonia Argentina.
