- In this video I continue the flax fiber process, showing how I build the tool, a flax break or brake, to break the core of the plant to expose the fibers around the cellulose core. I was inspired by the design presented by Martin Borden here martinborden.wordpress.com/ta...

Came here for the metal working.
Stayed for the cooking, gardening and the cats
woodworking, woodturning, cooking, gardening, blacksmithing.. Am I missing something? cheesus! dude you are amazing! Awesome work, as always! :D
Thanks 👍
Forgot leather smithing! 😉
Trigonometry!
I'm down here to write the same thing! Seriously amazing.
You forgot cameraman and video editing
If, spending time online, spending time watching your work is, by far, the best use of casual down time I've found. It justifies having a good internet connection
One of my favorite food and gardening channels. As a nice side effect, you also learn a lot about blacksmithing and woodworking :D Keep going!
Thanks 👍
The plane shavings wig cracked me up. Great video as usual, thanks!
I watched my father woodwork in his shop ☺ as a little girl and found your video most comforting..
Your wonderful work shop and quiet and mischievous entertaining way made me happy with joy..you remind me of my dad who is very missed since his passing. You are very talented and well skilled..it was a joy watching your video! Subscribed
Thank you!
Hurrah! Thank God, literally, for wood.
And metals,
And stone.
And guidance.
What incredible work! I hope to one day be as skilled in as many crafts as this man! Gardening, woodworking, black smithing, incredible!
I can watch your videos all day
1:55 had me rolling in laughter! 🤣 Your humor is as brilliant as your skill, and I come here to see both!
Your dad joke with the plane shavings made me laugh.
I was caught off guard when you showed off your luscious curls
:)
I too have built my own flax break for harvests! So lovely to see you and your videos as always. Tussen takk
Wonderful! Thanks
OMG the goldielocks had me cracking up. You are a true comedian 😂
Torbjorn the multi-professional man
This man is this old house all wrapped into one!
Woo hoo! More flax please. 🤠⚒❤🔥
I'll try! :)
@@torbjornahman Does someone in your family spin, weave, & sew with your flax? I was able to visit a "living museum" of Spanish life in the ~1540s (to maybe 1670s?) in Florida and they had grown flax and demonstrated the entire process from breaking the flax and carding it through to spinning and sewing with it. As a kid I was fascinated at what they demonstrated and still am ~50-years later! What you are sharing with us has my complete attention and admiration of your multiple skills. :)
@Bob Vines Thanks! No, this is all an experiment to learn and hopefully get to something usable in the end.
@@torbjornahman I/we look forward to more of this experiment!
If you find one of these in an old barn, you’d be like.. what.. is it???
Gardening, cooking, metal work, woodworking, some comedy, very cool 👍👍👍
Everyone of your videos has amazing projects along with everything else! But i have to say i love your sense of humour. Those long curly locks were too funny!
Okay buddy, now you’re just showing off…and I love it! Been watching a long time and you’re still my favorite channel
:) Thanks
No no, I have watched your black smiths work videos and you turned out to be a carpenter also like me. I am 74, and love wood work and I'm making a band saw for my self. I am not good in the media work or I would have sent you pictures. Keep up your quality work. Regards and best wishes.
🤔Goldilocks the blacksmith,gardener,woodworker and chef. 👍🏴
:)
Now the right message.
He's the completest handcrafter i know. By a scale 1 to 100 i'm by 10. He's over 100. I'm not this bad at all.
At about 5:00 I was thinking "hope he doesn't put a hole between those two knots" and then ......
Nice work, love the nuts and bolts
:)
One of the completest handcrafters ever. Or the completest ? If there is a scale from 1 to 100. I'm by ten, he's by hundred. And i think i'm not bat at all.....
I laughed out loud when I saw your creative hair style! Great improvement!
We missed your blacksmithing
Its nice to see a metal worker do woodwork that doesn’t make me shake my head in mild disgust haha. Nice video
That is not only very interesting because we learn about how flax is processed, but the legacy woodworking techniques and blacksmithing are no less instructive! This project is amazing. Thanks so much for all the effort you go to to share your expertise and experience with us!
I want to send my first comment, I'm Japanese, In japan ,carpenter is called "daiku". A master "daiku" is called "touryou" .If "touryu" done very good thing ,we say 「yo!touryou!」japanese「 よ!棟梁!」 When you use 「arimizo, hozokiri」in woodwork oh and use pull cut saw ,I say yo!touryou!. And when you use karate.w.May be , You have many 「kuroobi」black belt, karate, woodwork, cooking, farm, magic, of course steel work! I have very good time. I want to see your next video.
Ah! Thank you so much! ありがとう! I actually trained karate, many years ago, but we didn't split any wood....
the video should be a winner, everything is inside for the proposal algorythm.
Craftsmanship, woodwork, metalwork, forging, woodturning, mathematics, gardening, cooking, vegetarian food (what was that vegetable?)
Thank you! It was fennel!
It always pays to watch your videos more than once, I just noticed the “curly hair “, LoL 😂. Great sense of humour, love it!!!😂
Ha ha!
I love watching highly precise people do woodworking. It's always such a joy to see. Also seeing the little mower bot trundling along in the background always makes me laugh for some reason.
Hi, you may want to check out Engels coach shop, Dave's work is also quality.
I love to watch your craftsmanship. It is wonderful to see what you will make next. The square nuts and bolts and washers look real sharp. What is the vegetable. It looked very tasty. Thanks for the video
@@tomcarlson3244 : Fennel.
@@jimbayler4277 thank you.
I love the contrast between the super handmade stuff, and a super modern mower. This is a guy who knows how he wants to spend his time.
Love the way you busted out the trig for a wedge, Torbjorn!! 😂 Such precision, details and Pro multiple skills of a beautiful build and looks to work a treat. The best thing about this one is the story and cinematography...Eye Candy for the soul and fennel for the buds and olfactory. Bet the house smell good! Thanks So much for another treat!! Can't wait for the next escapade! ~¿@
As always PJ, thanks for your kind words. Fennel cooked like this is a real treat.
The thing about the use of wedges is it allows for variations...precision is not an essential...the wedge itself makes allowances...good laugh though.
The elegance and simplicity of your products is always heartwarming...
Seriously calming affect is a bye-product...WELL DONE.
На все руки мастер! У нас говорят- хоть палку бросить,хоть дом построить! Спасибо за красивую работу!
I decided to try loosening the core from the fiber with my hands alone because I wanted to preserve the warm beige color of the fiber. It works! For someone who enjoys fiddly peeling tasks, it's kind of fun. I've processed two large hanks of unretted flax with my fingernails and have a fluffy supply of flaxen fiber to spin now. i did enjoy seeing your awesome skills in this video and the flax break is gorgeous!
Master, is there any work you can't do? You are a master blacksmith, a carpenter, a bricklayer (installation of the hydraulic hammer) an excellent farmer (the greenhouse). GOOD BOY !!! CIAO DA ROME ITALY !!!
You are such a useful, lovely human. Thank you for sharing the work of your hands and the laughter of your soul.
So nice of you, thanks!
Fascinating!! He even made his own bolts!!!! What DON'T you do?!!! Any inventions for the home?
Your hair at 1:55 is incredible! Finally, a natural cure for baldness!
So you are a woodworker too, huh? It's funny because I have seen many videos from people who claim to be woodworkers, and by the way they use a hand plane, I can tell they do not have much experience. But you, who claim to be a Blacksmith, actually use a hand plane like a PRO! Your work, your space and all your knowledge is simply inspiring!
Thanks!
Goldie Locks and ThunderBear never disappoints. 😂
normally I just watched your blacksmithing now I want to do woodwork also......and you used some very old techniques that my grandfather used to do.....and now I see the point of it..... fantastic worker and I love to watch your things......and the curly hair was just fantastic, let your hair grow 🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Cool, thanks!
This video was exactly what I needed tonight! Thanks, Thunderbear!
Thunder Bear - just as good with wood as with metal. Fantastic work Torbjörn
Beautiful work once again. I teach 2nd graders in art each year about the wonders of flax...linen, linseed oil, linoleum...its really a miracle plant. The kids each paint a flax flower on linen using pigmented linseed oil that we press ourselves from seeds. This year i will show them your work❤
Wow, that sounds great!!
c'mon guys, admit it, you had no idea what he was up to until the end of the video, like myself )) love your work!
Dear Torbjörn, good day,
revive old traditions, even with your blacksmithing you are something special, and now the flax breaking, just great! Tell me, is it possible that you are a perfectionist? Everything is so finely worked out, you can see it, it also gives you a lot of pleasure in your work. Thank you for making my day sweeter again, I am so grateful to you for the effort you put into being able to share in your life and work. At the end of the month I'm in an epilepsy clinic, I've had two severe seizures again and have to be stopped with medication again. That means staying awake again for 2 nights and days, flashing lights, loud music, etc. to provoke an attack. Well, I'll shorten the time by watching all your videos again.
Thank you for being there, your family is lucky to have such a good father and husband.
Please stay healthy and warm regards, also to your children, wife and cat, from Thuringia, Thomas
Thanks Thomas! I hope you get that sorted as smoothly as possible.
My grandma always put the topgreens from the fennick and boiled them together with the fennick. Pure for the taste.
The perfectly aligned square washers were my favourite part! 🏴
Only on this channel would you see the bolts being made for the piece of wooden equipment being built.
Not to mention the cooking and Fashion tips.
Nice..
Ha ha...
Hello, the "chaff"(?) that falls on the ground is great for the garden. You can seed carrots and put this over the soil, they will grow through it, it stops weeds and retains a lot of moisture so need to water so often.
A good master, a good cook, a good artist. Good luck!
From growing flax to "my new flax shirt". Good job, as always.
It works really well!
That's a lot of work, but the result is really nice.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
9:54 A wild recipe appear!
Watching you put that project together reminded me of my late father. He was an “old school “ carpenter and used chisels and planes just as you are doing. Very nicely put together with your usual precision and skill, top job 👍. Particularly liked how you forged those bolt heads. Regards from Down Under. P.S. Love your cat.
Sounds like fond memories. Thanks, and the cat says Mjauuu, back to you!
@@torbjornahman is the cat a russian blue?
@@MrBloodyBat It's a mix, but with a sizable amount of Russian blue, we think!
Always loved the sound of the plane going across the wood.
I really like the wood shaving hair. It was fantastic. It looked great too.
Making your own fasteners is big blacksmith energy
gettin back to nature, nice, good job TA
It wouldn't have been fully Torbjörn if you didn't made those screws and bolts!!! LOL Awesome work! Let's see what you make with its resultant produce afterwards!!
We have something in common, making and building many parts and contraptions to try one small project. I bought a scythe at an antique shop. Now I’m halfway through making a treadle powered 150lb grinding wheel to use to restore the scythe. Which is fine, the curved handle I’m making for the scythe is still curing.
The bass effect with the snap was cool 👍🏻
I love watching your videos! I like your workshop, video shooting, humor, gardening and sure cooking! Good luck!
Very kind! Thanks
A true craftsmen
Bravo pour la touche d'humour et votre savoir faire...from Algéria ...
I liked your wooden blonde braids... lol
Nice job as always..., may God bless you and your family so much...
😊 thank you
Good start adding value to agriculture.
The man of many talents!
After watching the first Flux Video, I became addicted to your channel. Amazing Work 👍
Thank you so much 😀
Thunder Bear strikes again! Awesome project!
This is the most fascinating series, I love seeing how this is developing
New video today! :)
Finally a good video to watch after a long day of work, thank you maestro!!
you have a lot of woodworking tools for a blacksmith, i watch a lot of woodworking videos and you are almost the only person to place your plane the correct way on the bench when not in use blade to the side, interesting video thank you
I was looking forward to your flax series. Thank you for coming back!.
Outstanding work as usual! It is a joy to watch you work.
I didn't even know they made drill bits that long!
At 1:55 - nice hair! I really enjoyed this video, a good mix of everything that you do. :)
This is a very satisfying process. Thanks for taking us along.
For much of the video I completely forgot I was on a blacksmith channel! My dear blacksmith is excellent in many other areas! Very nice video !
Can not wait to see what you make with the flax , as always the craftsmanship is Great 👍
Loved the curls.
I'm so glad to see another craftsperson using trigonometry to figure things out!
Very amazingly done. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep making. God bless.
Thank you very much!
@@torbjornahman you're welcome
I love the colab with the famous Goldilocks
Приятно смотреть на аккуратно выполненную работу! Спасибо за интересное виде! Ждём продолжения!
Those are some luscious curls at 1:55 haha. Great video as always! Thanks!
Amazing craftsman. Your work is always excellent.
Very precise.
Next step is fine furniture
Talented people, talented in everything! When will you play the violin?!
Epic ! I am so loving this series ! Thank you
Awesome as always! Waiting for a third part
Loved the new hair doo, I see a trend coming.
:)
You are a true craftsman of many trades!!
1:54 Was not expecting that 😄
I'm a lover of fiber crafting and I can't imagine what he will make next but I will be waiting to watch!
The curls made me laugh out loud 😂
Great woodworking skills. The wood appeared to be a coniferous variety, it's more difficult to attain those crisp lines. The satisfaction of watching all parts being crafted rather than simply machined was fun.
As always, you inspire and educate!
fiber appears! very cool, can't wait to see the next stage of the process :)
