Yea. Only 4609 is still around. I last worked with her in 2022. She sat on the dead line at Mac Yard for a while and last I heard she was sent out west. Tbh as a railfan I love them, but as a railroader they are awful. Hot, loud, and not too comfortable. Visibility sucks too.
Just made a request at Weather My Trains for BCOL 4609 in her condition when I last worked with her in 2022 when I first hired on at CN. Hoping it is still available. Update: got an email back from Rob. He just had a cancelled order of a 4609 just before I emailed him. So perfect timing. I'm very excited to get it running.
2:45 finally! A manufacturer who details the goddamn traction motors! I’ve always hated that about Athearn and even ScaleTrains: they detail the hell out of the trucks, but do not add the traction motor detailing!
Unfortunately, Christmas day 2023 I had to set out a mix of CN power heading East for scrap. Most were BCOL Draper Tapers with, a few Dash 9's including surprisingly a former Union Pacific turned CN unit. We moved several groups of CN units through out 2023 using the same trains utilizing different crews. A lot of times the units would have leaking air issues which would interfere with having a properly functioning train. The train air line would take an extra long time to get fully charged. We were told by our manager under strict warning not to make any adjustments to any of the dead units because CN mechanical forces thoroughly worked the air brake lines to be set up permanently as trailing units for their trip to the scrap yard. If i only had the money to buy a few....Well, such as railroad life.
Bought one Quebec and Labrador road name. Its awesome. Love your Locomotives. I wish you could do the C-630m with Cabe Breaton & Centeral Nova Scotia as one of the road names. I know Bowser did a run back in the day and I have one but its time for a new one and you guys would rock it 😊
Dash-Great is a good nickname for these beasts. The GE C40-8M is a legend. They don't call these cowl units Dash-Greats for nothing. They sure are classic.
Good video! I have to ask about Jordons VIA T-shirt. What does 3:59 mean? Was that the arrival or departure date for the "Metropolis" train that VIA ran?
3:59 was a scheduled travel time between Montreal and Toronto for a time in express service. Today, service takes a bit longer due to additional stops.
4609 is in a yard set with a SD40-2 still cooking away in Prince George.
Yes! Nice to see she's still at work today
It’s sad that CN has sold off or scrapped all of these beautiful pieces of equipment

Not all of them

Canadian Cowl Bodies were such a vibe. I have a model of a CN SD60F in Trs2019 and they’re fantastic
I worked for G.E. and all of our dash 7 dash 8 dash 9,ect service manuals looked like your operating manual, Great job...Well done!

bad news for us but it should be good for Rapido Trains. Sounds like a hit with the model train folks.
Dash Great indeed👌👍
Any chance that you will do more BC n scale? I have two and would love to have a few more. Thanks
It may be a while, but we'll likely do another release at some point in the future.
Didn’t the Milwaukee road have some? if so why don’t you produce them? I been looking for them, any model!
MILW didn't have these, but they did purchase several full cowl EMD FP45 diesels in 1968
most of them where sold to mexico/ the ndem
That was for the MLW M630 fleet which the Dash-8's replaced. Amazing how time flies though
Cool.
Thanks!
Could you do a standard cab version of the Dash 8?
We COULD...
@@rapidotrains ok, it’s Dash 8-40C narrow nose for CN, standard DC only for me
