I can't wait to start this. I figured while I'm in school for surgical technology, sterile processing would be a great opportunity. Not only is it going to serve as a huge leg up for me when I do graduate, but it would be a great opportunity to learn all the instruments before I even had an instrumentation class in school. I'm so grateful and lucky that my hospital hired me with 0 experience and 0 schooling. I start in a week and then begin my surgical tech classes in 2 months. Your videos are extremely helpful, thank you so much!
I started out the same way been on the job over 20years certified supervisor love the job we are called the heart of the hospital my boss teach the class
I want to become a surgical tech but I’m seeing that having experience as a sterile processing tech first is a plus which i don’t have. I have no clue what to do first
Work at a dental office as a sterile tech to start. Usually its entry level and will give you experience to get the job. I just got mine from being a dental assistant
Your videos are always inspiring.... I called every hospital in the orlando florida area and was picked to volunteer at florida hospital but not for sterile processing. I keep getting the same information that they never do externships in the sterile processing department...When i first started the program i wanted to get ahead of the game because i know you have to complete 400 hrs so i signed-up volunteer..I also called to department manager at Advent Health and was told that he was to busy to talk to me and then he hung up.....Now I'm almost finish the program and about to get ready to pay for the test. but not sure what to do after that .. I guess ill try again or try another route i guess..
Always love your videos this week is my last week of class for sterile processing then I take my state certification the 1st week of November super excited but really nervous!
I was just hired as an entry level sterile processing technician with 10 years of hospital experience as a security officer but zero in sterile processing lol. It will be on the job training for 6 months until I take the test. Any suggestions?
i know its a weird question but are sterile processing technicians aloud to wear headphones if they have been in the trade for a while and know what they're doing? it seems like a nice job but looks like it can get lonely and boring at times.
HI! Your so well spoken and informative! Good luck to you on your journey! I'm interested in finding an in person or online sterile processing tech certification program. Im located in Los Angeles, do you have any info on an accredited program? Thanks in advance!
When you did your externship where you working another job as well? I currently work full time, not sure how to manage doing an externship at the same time
16 dollars???? I wish I made that... been working for 3 years as a sterile processing technician and in upstate NY that starting pay is 12 to 13 an hour so I would have super happy with 16 dollars but I hear ya and your video is awesome 👌 👏
You definitely need to talk with your manager, also Philadelphia have a lot of teaching hospitals. Also check out Glassdoor let you know salaries according to location and you can tell your manager with proof and experience good 👍

YourfavenurseB sent me here thanks for your info
If you go to school for SPT will that education count towards the educational requirements for a surgical technician?

Headphones are not aloud in the department. However some departments will allow music to be played for the department.
Wait did you have to sit in on any surgery/operations?
Yes I did. It was nerve racking and exciting
My school is doing a pre apprenticeship I’m torn between this and front desk. I’ve got pretty bad anxiety and I’m doubting myself.
Hoping things are going better
Then sterile processing will be better
Hey what’s up!!!!!.....u stop making vid?
Can you explain your hiring process into the department?
I like ur content ... Good job 👍👏👌😘💞
