Amy's mother was played by Georgia Engle. She played a similar character on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Same voice, same mannerisms, same personality. In the MTM Show, she sang a song and danced in a way that you would surely appreciate. The song and dance were in the same shocking vein as when she wringed the bird's neck and smoked cigarettes on ELR.
For the people saying Robert always wanted Debra… it was more a case of Robert’s character always being jealous of Raymond so it’s insinuated that he admires and finds Debra attractive. But that’s where the line was drawn in terms of the sitcom. They wouldn’t have gone further than that, because it would ruin the essential premise of the show. People need to relax and stop saying he was in love with Debra. That’s not what the character was. It was always about his jealousy of Raymond but at the same time he loved and respected his brother. The premise of the Barone family is that they all fight but love each other. It’s never meant to be completely disastrous. Just bordering on regular dysfunction always.
I agree. I don't think he was in love with Debra. I think he held Debra up as an example of the perfect wife and compared other women to her because really he just wanted a bit of what Raymond has in some way.
Where has this been all my life! 🎉 Was there anyone working on this show, from top to bottom, that wasn't at the very top of their game?! And so amazing that all the characters are so well fleshed out from the bone, that the female characters aren't underwritten or overshadowed in any way shows what's really possible in showbiz as well as life! This is ensemble! Thank you ❤
Robert's "It wasn't supposed to go out!" is the most memorable Robert line. Similar to the way on Friends Ross's memorable line was "We were on a break!"
The whole scene 😂from 14.00 ..Debra's killer looks ...Ray stepping back from.the line of fire over the couch ..and tiny Debra confronting Big Robert ..HILARIOUS 😂😂
Ray to Deb re Robert's ex wife: She didn't just leave him. She left him for the guy he arrested🤣🤣Rob and Amy running upstairs half clothed must be the funniest scene in the whole series🤣🤣
Not gonna lie this title would've been a great name for a spin-off of Everybody Loves Raymond, solely based on Robert and Amy either moving, expecting their first child together or the series start with a death or multiple deaths in the family and Rays family and Roberts family reunite for the funeral after not seeing each other in years then go from there, the possibilities could be endless.
Amy is trapped now between two Twilight Zones. A messy brother In law and bossy, pushy mother in law and sneaky brother and goofy parents. Full plate😂😂😂😂
In another episode, Frank is an usher at church - it is implied that he goes every Sunday (as Catholics are obliged to do). He even tells Ali that those who don’t go are going to hell…
I don't know why there is so much negativity against Amy, and I don't care!!! I thought she was perfect in that role, and was beautiful with a great body!! Many women in Hollywood with her height, have huge breasts, and i think her are a perfect size. She's gorgeous!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Robert broke character with Amy when they met. He ate the cookie dough twice beforehand then he made it a point to do it purposely(he touches his chin with food before he eats.)Wonder if anyone else noticed it???
He did not it is a character quirk and he has several. The biggest being a nervous habit of touching food to his chin before eating it, once referred to as "crazy chin".
What does someone's religion have to do with their acting ability? Doris Roberts played Marie Barone so perfectly. Who cares if she was Jewish, Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, or an atheist? She was an amazing actress.
The creator Phil Rosental is Jewish (as is Brad Garrett) and says he brought many crazy stories from his own family. The Barone surname in Italy is also Jewish.
This was very well done, but I can never find one that includes their very last coming together, when {I think?} Robert was in a bar, he and Amy were broken up and hadn't seen each other in a while, and a wait er/ess tripped over his foot, and the drinks fell on Amy. I believe that's the last time they were broken up and it's a great scene, but very hard to find.
I think that episode is the one where Robert goes on a date with a woman who eats a fly after having dinner with him at Ray and Debra’s house. It’s the funniest episode ever!
@@deninevh are you kidding me! This episode is one of the highest rated episodes of the whole series. It is really good even though it’s a little disturbing with the frogs and flies situation.
@@KARDisney Ha I know it's popular but this series to me is all about normal regular things, and that's so out there, I mean I've never met anyone who eats flies! :-D It just seemed out of place in the series for me but yes I know it's a popular episode.

I never liked their relationship, I liked Amy in season 1 and 2 but then in season 3 she became a bitch when something went wrong in their relationship it was always Robert's fault she never took any accountability just cried and dumped him. Things didn't get any better after they were married when something went wrong she nagged and cried
One the best decisions bringing Amy into the show and then making her a regular in the later seasons
Yes! She really was fantastic on the show.
She's married to Phil Rosenthal, she wasn't just a small part in the show. She was also the biggest part of bad moon rising episode. 😊

Amy was perfect for Robert, and bringing her parents in was genius level!😍
Amy and her family were the perfect fit for this series her and Robert were made for each other I’m glad he finally got to be happy ❤
im happy robert finally got the happiness he was lookinf for.
And with his pants!! Lucky man 😁
Me too. I was really hoping he would have a happy ending.
Amy and her Mother have always been two of my favorite characters on this show. Both are precious 😍

That marriage proposal to Amy was so great!!
Really sweet 😍 "you have a right to remain single" 😃

Totally. She’s his sister in law. It’s nice for an adult to love his or her sister. People are stupid.
He also said she was perfect. So he truly wanted a woman like her. And that’s so admirable. 💗
You’re the only one carrying on about a horrible sitcom lmfao
Robert was literally simping for her, especially in the earlier episodes 😂
I agree. I don't think he was in love with Debra. I think he held Debra up as an example of the perfect wife and compared other women to her because really he just wanted a bit of what Raymond has in some way.
One of the best shows that was ever on the air
Definitely one of my favorite comedy shows !😂😂💯%👍
Omg. Raymond throwing Debra against fridge. too funny
LOL right
😂😅
Absolutely my favorite scene in the whole series. 😂😂😂😂
We've never, and you've never ever!! Lol 😂 I love this entire cast and they are so funny but Frank is hilariously funny!!!!!!
The wedding invitations! I couldn’t finish reading. Because some woman was screaming. And I realized it was me! 😂
That police proposal was everything.
“ And by the way Marie, your noodles are over cooked “ > ZING! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The funniest part of that scene was the horrified looks and gasps from the family when Amy said the noodles were “overcooked!”
Amy, im Robert's gargantuan trousers. Epic! LOL

This is probably the best episode of this serie. I had to re watch 3 times ....hilarious !!
I loved Robert and Amy's first dance as husband and wife. "A Little Less Conversation......" by Elvis Presley. They nailed that dance!
I did, too! I also liked their dance in the basement to Steve Miller Band's "Jungle Love." Two memorable prime TV dance scenes!
They did have their ups and downs throughout the series, but they are meant to be to have each other.❤❤ it’s cute.
Amy is cute
Amy is gold😂
When Amy runs upstairs wearing Robert’s pants, I don’t know how Debra kept from laughing.
I don’t know how any of them made it through that scene without breaking up!
After 100 takes or so, you managed to get through!
My question is, why isn't the chain used on the door? Marie seems to just walk in as if the door is never locked.
Anyone laughing when Ray try to carry Debra on the fridge, like Robert did to Amy 😂😂😂😂
I think it’s a reference to when they first met. When Raymond hit her head on the futon cover and then on the fridge door 😅

One of the five best loves stories over the course of a sitcom!!! ...And one of the two with the female named Amy!!!
That look on Amy's face at 0:36 is "love at first bite"...🍪
Peter that guy has squrrels juggling knifes in his head 😂
Great description of Peter!
You are TRULY brilliant and your little actors (all three of them) are adorable❤
