I’m telling you!!! Me, my three brothers were in Solden Austria ripping straight lines that seemed absolutely forever!! No one around, then out of frkn nowhere a skier would blow the doors off us!! Absolutely insane. Loved it. ✌️ Thanks and be safe.
Of course! You always have way more control on your toe side edge. So on shard/icy turns I always take them on my toe side so I don’t slip out. That means if it is a heel side turn like the one you saw. I would rather go switch and stay on my toes for safety and it is faster too. 🤘🏼 Always practice switch turns.
I would say I am an intermediate snowboarder and I clocked 44.5 mph a couple weeks ago at Red River according to slopes and it felt extremely fast. Would really think it would be cool to see how fast ya'll were going in this video.
Considering that run they took is 3 miles long and they did it in 3:30, they were hauling ass. (I know Schoolmarm is 3.5 miles, but that goes to River Run, not Mountain House... so maybe a tiny bit shorter. That's crazy fast for blue runs.
I have a general question. I am a skiier and have always been a fan of skiing and snowboarding! I love your channel and videos, I only just recently subscribed. I just got back from an awesome ski trip with my family to Brian Head UT. It is a fun resort and enjoyed it for many reasons. But at the end of our trip I had one bad experience with a snowboarder he was a newb and having a hard day, I could tell! We passed him on a green run and I guess he was frustrated, tired what ever. But he decided to take off his snowboard and it proceeded to runaway from him. I thought I would be nice and stop the snowboard, but by the time it got to me it had to be going 40-60mph. I sat on the snow and stopped it with my hand. The bad part about all of this, is I forgot to turn on my 360 camera to catch the footage! Now my hand it blue and feels broken, I still haven't gotten it x-rayed but it is painful. The guy saw I was in pain after, and all I got was a thanks he picked up the board and ran away. First of all I know he was a jerry so I don't judge all snowboarder's etiquette based on this guy, but now I have learned my lesson. Don't stop a runaway snowboard. Or what is the proper way of stopping a runaway board?
For runaway gear it is always the person that poccessed its fault if it gets away from them and injures someone else. Im glad you stopped it as it could have picked up more speed and injured someone more severely. Now, if you did get injured from his board you probably should have contacted ski patrol immediately and reported the issue, but since you left the mountain without reporting anything they have no idea if you could have injured yourself off the mountain and are now blaming that guy.
not true. You are foot to foot on skis. Only one edge is digging into the snow and the other ski is unweighted. Clearly you dont ski or understand the sport
@@opinion56 ClEaRlY YoU DoN't SkI oR UnDeRsTaNd ThE sPoRt. jesus can you not be such a knob, if both the skiier and snowboarder are pointing their noses straight down the fall line, the skiier is probably going faster because of less surface area (less contact) while a snowboard has a much larger base creating more friction from a physics pov. p.s I snowboard, I don't ski.
Lol, I'm pretty sure my dad would smoke Johnathan, we both ski and he's so much faster than me 😂 Maybe I could beat John, but I *am* a bit slower. However, I know Keystone really well. Sooo.... who knows!
@@JohnathanBuckhouse I'm going soon, in march, so we'll see! That high five was at 3:30? Maybe we'll even see each other! Haywood is definitely one of my favorite runs 😉
Well as a Skier I have to admit that Johnathan got smoked on the same rout😎 or until they departed each other❄☃ Then the other topic would be the mass of the riders and the waxing of the skis. So let's the mayhem discussion begin✌
Because you’re paid to make snowboard content doesn’t make you a pro snowboarder it makes you an Internet personality, you aren’t anywhere close to the level of a professional, good clickbait tho have fun getting paid to rip cool places and be a cringe machine, kids smart too kept carving the whole time to keep you close and let you win, haven’t even seen the end of the video yet but I can already tell you win he’s letting you keep up, those are easy bombs he’s carving it up way more than he needs to so you can keep up
Yeah that’s what I thought stay in your lane and you’ll gain a ton of traction, I would be a fan if you didn’t have the weird 14 year old I’m a pro mindset

I can't
I would though
maybe
I want too but i cant :(
Only reason JB won was because Damon is smart… “Always let the boss win”. Shrewd, very shrewd Damon!!!
🤣😂🤣
Always let the Boss win, great job Damon! 😆

Heck yeah 😂
Where is the race against the professional snowboarder?
Where’s the professional snowboarder??????
🤣😂
Holy smokes 🤣 you guys should take the same path next time
Nah next time is the top of breckenridge down 😂
@@JohnathanBuckhouse i would love to see that
Hey Johnathan! Can you explain why you chose to go switch for that high speed turn @ 4min? Just curious as a beginner - Great vid and thanks!
My guess would be toeside. More comfortable on high speeds.

TOEside is always stronger... sometimes...

Hey, Johnathan, keep up the great work and I hope all your trips worldwide are great.
Thanks will do 🙏🏼
It might be unrelated to the video, but do you prefer a twin or directional board?
Twin all day
I have a question would some one skiing go faster carving the right way or just going straight down without any type of carving?
making my mountain look small
goddamn a 4 minute run while cooking like that
depends on the amount of fear you have ;) if you both give zero f's , a skier is generally faster.
This is so true!
Booked me a week trip to Utah for spring break. Can't wait to hit the slopes.
Have a blast!
What I’m dying to know is the top speed he got to. Looks crazy fast
I wish we tracked it 😅
Looks like Damon was probably in the mid 50 mph range
👍🏻⛷🏂🏻 I've always wondered who's faster!
Yes 🙌🏼
What skis does damon ride?
Idk 🤷🏼♂️
Sick video! Keep up the good work bro!
Thanks!
You were speeding, according to my somewhat correct calculations you were probably averaging 55 MPH, crazy fast.
"I don't see any yellow jackets" lol
🤣😂
Everybody knows skis are faster then slowboard😂, cool video tho
Yeah 😂
would like to see time on the same slalom
Yes i
skiing is so fast it’s annoying, 2 downsides to snowboarding is back country and speed vs ski’s and that grates on me 😅

Have you ever been to Australia to snowboard?
Not yet but hopefully this summer
@@JohnathanBuckhouse Great! You should check out resorts like Perisha, Thredbo and Charlottes Pass! Hope to see you there
I’m a snowboarder but skies are SOOO much faster… when you guys were on the same path he was killing JB
So true 😂
I do snowboard but in speed skiers can be faster but if you know the mountain and you know shorter ways your always gonna beat them
💯
You are delusional. It is a known accepted fact that the fastest speeds are skiers.
calm down buddy@@chuckruffing6283
Haha hell yeah this is my jam. I did this with a skier friend down the Wild Irishman trail and it was basically dead even
That’s rad!!!
Damon’s jacket is sick, what is it?
looks like an Obermeyer foundation
Right! Idk 🤷🏼♂️
It's a Obermeyer foundation jacket, in actually color: black on thier site.
Skiiers are faster but snowboarding is cooler
🙌🏼
If their were yellow jackets…
part 2
🤣😂
Who's faster?? 😂 The answer is neither unless u have a high performance board or pair of skies. I'm a skier. 😊
Professional????
😂
Oh man I thought Damon smoked JB! Did he get lost?
No just picked the wrong route 😂
I challenge cody to a race
It’s on 🙌🏼
Hill bombing on skis it easy but on snowboard it’s like being on the shoulder while driving. It’s BUMPY!!!!!
It is so bumpy 😂
I think Skiers are faster but Snowboarders definitely look way cooler
💯
Is it me or did I think the skeir was beating him
Yes 😂
Skiers are fast
Right!
if each one had to carve the whole way, the snowboarder holds one edge while the skier holds two. I'd assume two is more friction
yeah but think about surface area touching the snow, skis are usually thinner so maybe less overall contact than the base of a snowboard maybe?
Yeah but the fact is you rarely have to carve the whole way
I’m not sure the science behind it but skiing is definitely faster
