I think the problem when Joel said that before was that he didn’t want his viewers to actually ship him with anyone else, not realizing that we the fandom legit don’t touch the irl shipping (unless we think the irl couple’s cute)… we’re just here shipping these folks from the “roleplay storyline” perspective. Which, I think if the creator’s got that, they’d be a lot less weirded out by what we the fandom get up to (that we allow them to know about).
@@taytaythehufflepuff8532 "that we allow them to know about" is such an insane thing to say. as much as you call them characters most of the "roleplaying" is a joke, especially on HC. as xisuma says multiple times, they arent a content based server, they're just friends hanging out. they're being themselves.
@@moonlit_sky127 What I mean by it, is the fandom behind the scenes (you know, the side of us on tumblr, or the fanfictions), we aren't actually writing about the personal lives of the hermits, and we aren't actually interested in people "getting together", but we still (I don't, but others do) write them in relationships.
And "that we allow them to know about" is because there's a lot of... cough cough *stuff* with these guys that they should not EVER bother their minds with, that would make all of them (or nearly all of them) uncomfortable.

@@BadgeBadge314 yep, agree on that one. Etho & Lizzie don't interact much and don't have the same energy at all, I find that ship to be quite weird because they never initiated a bit about them. The whole fun with boat boys is that they lean into the joke so much!
