The filter on the m18 is a very strong durable material. I took one apart to see why the vac had very little suction. Tried using a sock for a filter which increases suction so much that the float ball gets instantly sucked into the vac motor
I just lost power to my Original M18 vacuum. Took it apart and realized it’s just the switch. Unfortunately the switch is nowhere to be found. Going to be rigging it up. Might document it for UA-cam.
I use the 9amp battery in mine, with no problems so far after about 3 years of use (I have the first model version) Very powerful motor and the filter catches a massive amount of dust. I even sucked up some newly laid cement by accident, which just went straight through into the collection box (little pile in the left hand corner) Haven't used it on water yet, but I don't really want to get the filter wet anyway. 2 spare filters ready to use, but still in their plastic bags. brillian tool on sawdust and metal filings etc. from my metal cutting chop saw. One of my favourite Milwaukee tools, also makes an excellent blower to clean the wood bandsaw etc.
I've been using this vacuum for about a year now. It is the only cordless vac I've owned that performs as well as a corded vac. Unfortunately, the hose is annoyingly short and it's a non-standard size, so you can't just add another hose segment, like ANY other vacuum out there. I ordered the hose adapter from Milwaukee, but it doesn't fit any regular size hoses either!
I have had 3 of these stop working. They don't get used that much. They were all covered under warranty repair and I was given a new one from the Milwaukee Service Center. Still like them, just not of fan of them stopping working.
Use a small leaf blower (while wearing a dust mask) to blow out your filters rather than washing them. Makes a giant dust cloud, but you don't need to wait for your filter to dry out.
I think it's even better with the 12 amp hour high output batteries. Or at least my impact drill works better with 12s so if the vacuum doesn't then I've definitely placebod myself.
Any suggestions to removing the hose from the inlet??!!!! I’ve been using mine flat out for 4 years (as a plumber it’s been through the absolute wars believe me) The hose has finally carked it but I can not for the life of me remove it. In fact I’ve even broken the leaver using too much force trying to twist it out 😢😢 !! Might be time for a new one. Couldn’t recommend this product more
Yah removing the hose from in the the vacuum port I remember always was super hard to twist and pull. I would only twist it on just a little so it was easier to remove later.
Try not to wash the filter. If you do wash it, make sure the filter is dry before using it. The pleats can come apart. I'm still using my original filter. Only washed it once. I swapped a longer shop vac hose to fit the M18 after the flex hose cracked. It can still be used again. But I put a full length hose on instead. Uses all shop vac aftermarket and the Milwaukee accessories.
you have to remove the broken part of the hose. it'll only shorten it by an inch or two. it can be repaired. if not just get any 1 1/4 inch shop vac hose and it will thread right into the male end of the m18 hose attachment that fits to the machine. you might have to pick the old dried glue out of the male end to get another hose to fit. but any shop vac hose interchanges to the M18 cordless shop vac
@@scottvanular8091 check my channel. I just did an upload of my m18 cordless shop vac modified with an extra long ridgid shop vac hose. no joke not some fake hack.
@@ModernOffGridDIY Yeah, that is what I have also been doing, but it has become progressively harder to pull out and there isn't much room to get a grip on it. I did some research and there are some lubricants that are good for plastics. Thanks.
Pretend like you doing a reach around 1 :with one hand slide down the gap and cup the bottom of the battery 2: other hand pinch the release clips and with the combination of finger pushing from the bottom and pulling from the top it should be easy. Can I ask a silly question? I have the same vac, are they meant to continuously blow air out of the blower port? Mine works just fine just seems crazy that it would be blowing hi power air out of the other side of the vacuum specially when you’re in a dusty room

A 5.0AH battery still gets me about 45 minutes of use. I keep 2 batteries in rotation. My M12 tools I have at least 4-6 batteries. I threw out the M18 jobsite radio. Had no bluetooth and didn't work with the battery after using it for 2 weeks. I have called Milwaukee company in the past and have no patience with their bullshit. I threatened home depot staff and managers for selling me overpriced junk that I end up throwing away. Returning shit to them is a waste of time and more money. m12 and m18 do not honor their warranties. Home Depot is doing more to promote Ryobi and Ridgid cordless tools since Milwaukee threw away the quality of their own product line. I have spent thousands into flashy bright red garbage that claimed to be good quality tools. a few years back they were good. but within the last couple years, I haven't had a working battery pack that doesn't end up getting smashed with an axe or sledgehammer and thrown into traffic to get ran over to little worthless pieces. I've been throwing away money. huge amounts of money!

Glad I could help 👍
I definitely agree with you Rolando. Great video
Thermally protected too. Keep filter clean to reduce motor load. My only gripe is no brush attachment.
Got one today HD,great for little vac. Cleaned up after patching dog door and installed dryer vent.

I agree, it’s a great vacuum for work, truck, and even at home. The High Output battery’s are the way to go!

You should remove the filter when sucking up liquid.
You would remove the pleated filter for wet or preferably use a foam filter designed for wet. Water ruins the pleated dry filters.
Thank you so much! I was looking to see if these had the blow feature. Thank You so much! And Thanks for the extra tip.
Your power switch is backwards. I should be on and O is off.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is this the best you got
Surely O means on and I means inert?.?.?.?
@@davidedmunds3409O means open in electrical. Meaning the contacts are not touching.
so great to have options with battery tech: high output for power or runtime, compact for weight reduction.
Excellent video! Pull this vid up while in Home Depot before I checked out!

Thanks! The battery tip was useful.Have you tried blowing air to the filters to clean from dust?
The 12ah battery fits just fine .
👍
i made a nice long attachment with grey emt pipe for the stink bugs
Thanks, my dewalt die so I might look into this I do have battery for it.
Love my vac too. Hate the damn inlet lock tho I don’t even turn it to lock it. Will have to get a HO battery and see what your talking about
I wish they made a pre-filter sock to go over the mail filter.
You can get them after market or use something else such as panty hose or a type of pool filter.

You really, really enjoy saying “high output battery” 😂
cause that's what it is
Your on/off switch is wired backwards. Thanks for the tips.
Yes it is. It popped off and when I popped it back on it was the opposite way but no big deal lol
I am buying one Tomorrow!!!

It drain so fast the batteries
12.0 will fit
thinking a wet vac could run from batteries like these given some ac wet vacs are actually dc just got to bin the internal ac components.
Thanks for sharing
Yours does the same as mine, chucks dust out the back which defeats the object of the hoover!
Do we need a bag?
I removed the filter it was stuck full
Filter thst it comes with does it suck up water a dust?
Does it take large particles? I need it to take 16mm diameter rings
Does the MILWAUKEE 18V 12.0AH BATTERY fit the wet vac?
When using for wet you take filter off corect?
Yes that's how I have done it

But when you are vacuuming the debris come out from the other side ( the blower side )
Not if you have a filter on it.
It's an excellent hepa vacuum but it keeps not turning on at times which makes me so fustrated.😤
I had that problem too finally just stopped working. But I had it for years before it broke.

My tip: Clean the damn thing
Does it suffer from thermal overheating?
My high output batteries don't do that
How long does it run for on 8ah battery?
Depends on what your vacuuming the dirtier the filter it's the harder the vacuum has to run.
Would have been better to show it working
Dont use the high output in that vacuum , my roommate did in mine and burnt it out
That hose looks to short
Its is that's one of the things I don't like about it.
Iv used a 9.0 on mine and it's cooked the circuit board. Watch your self
I'm still using mine. I left it out in the rain and still work. Milwaukee has a good warranty try check with them.
What did u suck with it?
Saw dust mainly spent most of its life attached to the circular saw
I have had 3 of the vacs stop working, all replaced under warranty thru Milwaukee. I use both 9.0 and 5.0
Please tell us why in the world would you use a 9V battery in a device designed and clearly labelled 18V? I mean really - WTH?
What’s the biggest battery that can fit in it?
The biggest battery I put in it was the 9amp I don't think the 12amp will fit
@@ModernOffGridDIYthe 12.0 fits un just fine.. now getung it back out can be a pain. Lol

All vacuums have to blow out air if they are sucking in.
What are you using it on ? Your going to burn it out sucking that shit up.
It's made to work if it brakes I'll just by another one. The money time and labor offsets the cost if it needs to be replaced at some point.
