    I'm stuck in quarantine, so i may as well make a new crusader suit, since the last one I made was more than 4 years ago.

      Hi Kellen!
      Heck yeah - quarantine stinks but propping doesn’t! Might as well spend the time gettin' down right?! Here’s the channel’s home page in case you haven’t seen all our other builds and tips videos :

      Cool!! Glad you found us and enjoy us!! Every one of our builds is totally doable with even a small amount of craftiness and ability. With the occasional use of a bandsaw needed. But we try to keep it to where anyone can follow along and make their own.
      Enjoy!!

    will there be a problem if the bevels are not cut at an angle? im not used to cutting things out at an angle like that yet, i usually just cut something straight and trim at it afterwards, but this foam size is very thin!
    also, how does one go about creating a template/pattern that best fits their forearms and hands? im using this video as a reference rather than building along with it. luckily the gauntlet i intend to make does not have nearly as many layers as this, though!

    • @BlackSheepProps
      @BlackSheepProps  Рік тому +1

      Hi Lucky!
      Lean your knife just a little bit to get the bevels, it’s pretty easy. That is the one detail that will make the sharp peaks between pieces possible. I just use paper and roughly draw out the shapes and then hold them on my hand to see if they fit and then just slightly adjusted if needed until they are exactly what I wanted and then I transfer the paper template onto my foam to cut the piece. Sort of just trial and error until you get the shape you want.
      And it should be done while you have the glove on so everything is correct for the size for the glove and not your bare arm.

      @@BlackSheepProps awesome, thank you so much for the info! how did you know how to make the templates for the beveled pieces, or stuff that might have "darts" in it (sorry, sewing term is the best i could come up with haha)
      a couple areas in the gauntlets im making are also round, like a dome shape almost. do you have any tips for making templates for pieces of foam that need to be rounded out like such?

    • @BlackSheepProps
      @BlackSheepProps  Рік тому +1

      Bevels that make the peaks is something I learned when I first started building. I accidentally cut two pieces and my knife was not straight - it was leaned over a bit and it caused an angled cut on the end and when I tried to attach them it caused a peak in the middle - just like on the gauntlet. That’s how I discovered it. For the round pieces you can heat the foam and shape it, check out my video on heat shaping foam, it shows how to curve your foam with heat. That might work for what you need. I guess I used a dart when I made the opening in the welding glove smaller so it would be tighter on my wrist. I just figured I could fold it over and glue it so it would have a smaller opening.
