"...why would I pay you $6.00 for homework? " That made me actually laugh out loud... I'm an elementary school teacher who has seen the recorder playing for 31 years now!! I love that question about being an adult. It shows the difference between the thinking at the girls' ages. Both are interesting. Charlotte is a very mature, well-spoken teen. Two wonderful kiddos. Adults should ask kids more questions.....
After Hearing that $6 , I actually had anger feelings. Requiring that instrument then looking for an additional way to scam cash.

The second chorus of the intro to Led Zeppelin Stairway to Heaven had recorder recorded in the intro. Don’t be ashamed to overdub unusual different instruments in certain songs as it has worked well in certain Classic Rock songs.

I was lucky to hurt my back last week hauling log splitter and wood. I’m couch potato since and discovered you, Hovak and Ellen. I love your site. I watch many half hour clips everyday. Makes my day. I play piano all my life since 7. Now 78 and you are such a Joy to watch and listen to - the Q&A and bass lessons and life lessons. All the best you all!!!
I’ve loved watching Ellen and her Dad with their amazing relationship and her fearlessness and hunger to play. Charlotte is equally amazing. She shreds on guitar and is so poised and we’ll spoken. Kudos to some amazing parents!
Ellen giving away Hovak's age, was so funny. We also had to play the Recorder back in the 60's when I was in Grade School. Ours were just a basic black plastic recorder. Our parents had to buy them for us. They did not cost much, because all schools were doing this, and there were probably millions of them being made. Definitely could spot the kids that were tone-deaf. I eventually worked my way into playing the Coronet in Grade School and High School. Hopefully we can hear these two young ladies play some music together someday.

These two up and coming talented girlls are being steered the right way by thier patents introducing them to older music that great musicians drew thier influences from. Ellen always astounds me and this is the first time seeing Charlotte. Her musical maturity and playing at 13 is remarkable and 👍👍for her guitar influences. 🎸🤩💫

It is impressive to see two such mature young ladies in this format.
AWESOME answers from both young ladies! Loved hearing about their influences, favorite songs, etc. But I gotta tell you- BOTH answers to that final question were absolutely perfect. Add more musicians and be nice to each other. I can't think of a better way!
I think these young ladies ard really amazing, not just their abilities, but their willingness to work, learn,, and apply repetition. It can be hard at times to keep the "fire" burning, so I found learning something new would get the creative juices flowing. Good luck in both of your futures, I'll be watching for you!💜

Love you and your wonderful dad and your playing of course. Amazing. Do you like fret less bass? I have played finger style acoustic guitar since I was a little boy (I’m now 69 years old). My father was a jazz guitar player who did gigs and club dates with Billie Holiday and many others. Your playing Ellen is so great to hear. Your dad’s instruction seems so kind, perfect for you and knowledgeable. He is an impressive, masterful guitar player as you know of course. Just want to say congratulations on the beginning of your life in music. You will go so far. I know your dad and family will protect and guide you through your journey in the world of professional music. You have such a bright future. You also, because of your wonderful dad and family, are obviously an amazing human being. Before I finish this comment I would like to answer two of the questions that were asked in this video: Worse food I ever tasted: I was a special forces soldier in Norway’s Jaegerkommandoen. During basic training on jungle survival we had to eat these disgusting long white worms that live inside palm trees. It was just awful! Next, one food for the rest of my life? Easy, real Italian Spaghetti Bolognese! So, best wishes to you and your dad. I will follow your playing and your career as you grow into your future. You are a gifted natural talent. You remind me of my daughter when she was your age and also my granddaughter. Best of everything to you! Love your videos and your playing and your great taste in music.

6:11 Young female guitarists are so inspiring. Nearly 50 years ago, I went to a Norton Buffalo concert in Sacramento, California. Bonnie Raitt was the opening act. She blew me away with her mad guitar skills.

Great to see these young people so interested in music. I cannot say how many times music has pulled me out of something negative in life.
Just amazingly adorable watching these intelligent girls! Big kudos to Daddy who is doing so much inspiring and important activities which develop those amazing abilities. These girls will become big names in no time. "What would I wish out of this video?" That Paul McCartney would be able to spend an afternoon in a studio with these girls! Ask for an invite and fly them to London! If James Corden can do Carpool taxi with Paul, which is by far the best one and my favorite - I wish Paul would spend the time with these young fans who are 60 years younger!

I was so glad Brian May made the cut of influences. He has such a smooth and flowing playing style.
Such bright and talented young ladies. So cool that Charlotte mentions School of Rock. I saw it in theaters when I was about her age, so it's great that the younger generation still likes it and gets inspired by it.
Watching Ellen play makes my day. Playing is one thing, but her joy of it, tops it all. Have you tried Moody Blues on her? Seems like they have some interesting bass.
Charlotte is very smart and calm to answer questions. She is very mature, I didn't know of her. Great to see new talents especially at such young age.
Ellen is just so adorable and sweet. And very smart to answer as well. But one thing I'd like to know is, what other activities do they do? Because it looks like it's music all day, which is great for their growth, but do they do other silly activities like playing with a dog, biking, play with dolls, watch TV, things like that?

Great interview. You can tell that they both have the fibre of professional musicians already, even at such a young age.

I don't think you two will have much trouble finding another kid about your same ages to play drums. Just promise when you do to make more youTube videos of you playing together.
And thanks again for another delightful video. You make me remember what joy it was to start playing music when I was 9. I saw the movie "A Hard Days Night" and Ringo (and The Beatles) was all it took. I After that drums were all I could think about.

One of her top five guitarists is John Lennon. I absolutely love that. He is not a guitarist who is usually in someone’s top five. Though he was not flashy, and didn’t possess great technical prowess, he certainly used his guitar to write some great material that will last forever. And his rhythm guitar playing was excellent.

I am watching YT out of order and was not aware of just a much a fan of The Beatles Ellen is and makes me sad that my Beatles knowledge is so limitted .I made the comment earlier that I did not even know Blackbird was a Beatles tune until I heard Ellen sing it,lol .
Growing up I was not a Beatles fan,my favourites were Olivia Newton John and John Farnham .
