Thank you all so much for watching, really hope you enjoyed! Would love to know what part of the tour you enjoyed, or what kind of things you'd like to see or hear about in our future videos 😁
Is really nice the way you guys are doing. I am now refitting a 28-foot boat also. :-) I am based in Mallorca, if you are around please let me know, the port near to our house is Portocolom east coast of Mallorca. :-) Hoppe see you guys here. :-) All the best
I lived on a 28 ft sloop on SF bay for a year or 2 and I am impressed with what you have. Enjoy! If the lines are dry it is sunny, if lines are wet it is raining, if lines are missing it is a hurricane.
This is great. After growing ever more impractical watching so many videos of large, high priced, amazingly outfitted boats that I couldn't possibly afford this was something that makes me more hopeful that I could find something that I could enjoy and actually afford. Thanks so much!!
Best part of being on a boat, is when shes all tip top, provisioned with everything youll need, its stormy and raining hard, and your nice and comfy down below, shes hove too, having a nice cup of tea....looking.in awe of the fierceness of the waves, wind, weather.
Oh mate, I have a house full of souvenirs and 'stuff' that I'm struggling to throw away or sell. Let me tell you, this stuff is merely a load of big chains binding you to the spot. None of it is necessary, none of it has much intrinsic value, so if you can avoid souvenir type stuff and just own what you need you are on to a winner. This world is so big and so amazing that our primary responsibility os to see as much of it as you can, without rushing any part of it. It's taken me decades to realise that, and I hope I can start really feasting on it before I peg out!
just an FYI you'll need a holding tank or a different way to store your poop for the med, its a legal requirement in some counties. Nice little boat and have fun!
Yes we have heard this also, we do have a very basic composting toilet that we can use when in anchorages and places where a holding tank is necessary. Alternatively we most likely use facilities on shore where possible and marinas if we have to also. Thanks for commenting, and all our best Brynn and Jade
That's awesome that you live on a 28 too! It's interesting how different similar sizes can be. Think this layout is definitely better suited to two people than some of the others we've seen
Wow, she really is a beautiful boat. What a lovely home for not much money! I reckon more and more people will be taking to life aboard as the fresh air, lovely views and economy really appeals. I love your boat.
Absolutely lovely to see a yacht that I can actually see myself sailing........I've actually sailed a 30 foot vad start and my only comment to you is safety first always fire extinguisher need to be able what becomes a very bad situation very quickly I personally would triple up on them they small and Easy to stash ...enjoyed and look forward to following you....
Change furler bearings or at a minimum use a grease injector to lubricate the sealed bearings. Probably one of the most overlooked periodic maintenance items.
That's awesome! Congrats on the boat, excellent year of build ;) Aw lovely, thats one of those satisfied jobs where you see the results quickly! Haha. Good luck 👍
Aw thanks guys! Yeah it's deceptively roomy for a small boat, like you said I think the way they've used space is pretty clever :D Definitely, we find it cosy ☺
I wondered how you could spend 30 minutes on a boat tour but you filled it really nicely and informatively. And what a cracking boat... I swear you have more storage than we do in 40’! Can’t wait to see you get sailing and hopefully see Talisman for real soon 😊⛵️
Ah thanks! We weren't sure if it was too long, but once we get chatting we never know when to stop 🙈 glad it was enjoyable. Yess the storage really won us over! No excuse for a messy boat now haha 😅 absolutely, hopefully see you in the near future 🌊
That boat is actually BIG as 28s go! I had a boat of the same length with about 1/2 the interior space due to narrower beam, narrower forward and aft sections, and longer overhangs.
I'm trying not to subscribe to any more sailing channels but this has to be one of the best, balanced, informative but fun boat tours of exactly the type of boat I plan to buy so looking forward to following your travels and practical updates. I'm intrigued about the flexible water tank. Thanks again and happy sailing.
Hey Peter, Thank you so much for staying with us and for the super kind words. So far the flexible water tank has done us good, the only drawback being that it can get air trapped when filling so were just keep an eye when doing so. We will hopefully be doing an updated boat tour in the coming weeks also that you might find interesting 😊. Thanks for commenting. All the best Brynn and Jade
I have a Bougie RV ice chest size, fridge or freezer. I think I paid less than $200? Pulls a little less than 50 watts. I got it for my little camper for more freezer space so I don't have to buy ice all the time. Thing works great both as bonus house freezer in and when I am on the road. My 300 watt power bank keeps it running for at least 7 hours when I am pulling down the road. It also runs on DC. About the size of a medium ice chest. If you can find a place for an ice chest and get power to it. You have a fridge or a freezer. I keep it on 0, but I t can be set higher for a fridge. Safe travels and enjoyed your video!
BuT ThE INtErNet SaYS tHAt BoAT is TOo SmaLL To CroSS OceANs! Dope setup guys, I love to see these smaller, simpler boats not just high dollar massive things.
Hi folks ,Enjoying your informative, honest ,entertaining presentations .Just refitting my first yacht ever [at this stage ] and dreaming of the time shes launched and I attempt to put her on her mooring ,Hopefully in 12 months time .Its been 12 months already .Retirement cant come soon enough then I.LL Have the time and funds to complete her.All the pieces are there I ve just to work out where they all go ,Shes was completely gutted ,dismantled then the owner passed .So its a learning curve but at least I,LL know everything about here doing it this way lol .This is my wifes account lol regards Derek .NZ.
Hi Derek, thanks so much for your kind comment :) Really glad you're enjoying our videos so far! Yes we agree, doing the refit you'll know everything about your boat (and how to fix it if anything goes wrong on the water!) Good luck with it all, hopefully you'll be out sailing before you know it. Cheers for watching, all the best Jade & Brynn
Hi, when I’ve not been living on boats I used to live in Dudley, but most of my time has been spent on water. Came back to land (Shropshire) last year and regretted it since. Next year I’m getting another boat and can’t wait. Great video, brilliant boat design. Keep it up, I’ve just subscribed. Chris.
Hey Chris, that's great that you'll be getting another boat! Nice to meet someone from near our neck of the woods too :) Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for subscribing!

wish all 28" boats had a layout like that. and llove how detailed the tour was. big thumb up.
I agree that it is NOT necessary to run all lines to the cockpit. Racers like it, but cruising is another thing. On my last boat I found that I still had to leave the cockpit for many sail handling tasks, even with lines run back. I single hand a lot and didn’t bother to move lines to the cockpit on my current boat. I like the simplicity of the at the mast solution.
We've actually had a few people say similar, so that's a relief 😅 we thought the same thing, keep it simple so less to go wrong! Thanks for the comment 👍
I wish you all the best and safe sailing. You could have not picked a more rewarding hobby and challenge to do together, lots of memories to make have a great life .
Hey, thank you so much! We absolutely agree, its such a fun rewarding hobby and way of life. Even in the short term we have seen lots and had so much fun, we can't imagine what it will be like looking back in 10 years time. Thanks so much for commenting, all the best Brynn and Jade
That is a very good layout for a 28 foot boat. My centaur isn’t quite as spacious seeming despite being the same length. I shall subscribe and follow you for sure. Go well guys. 👍
Hey glad you like the boat, we did look at a couple centaur's before finding Talisman, they are super well built good sailing boats. When we found Talisman we were lucky as its one of the biggest feeling 28ft boats we had been on. Thank you so much for subscribing and hope you enjoy the adventure 😀
Great information about sailboat ⛵nice navigation system ,it's nice 28 footer a lot of room for two people I like it your sailboat very much .amazing it has everything. I sailed ⛵around the world for seven years. I am from Estonia 🇪🇪Tallinn, now living in paradise island in Kauai Island 🏝in the middle pacific ocean. One of the most beautiful island 🏝on the planet Kauai, Hawaii
That's awesome!! You're the second stag owner (previous owner) we've met on UA-cam now which is so exciting (we met the previous owner of Flying Fox). Totally agree! More than enough space for the two of us and now we've got some nautical miles behind us, she sails like a dream. Thanks for getting in touch 😁👍
If you want refrigeration just buy a 40 litre 12 volt 240 volt car fridge. I use mine for out back camping and never had a problem. I live in Western Australia and some days it’s 40 degrees plus in the out back, and the fridge just keeps going. But remember, buy cheap buy twice. 😎
Good suggestion :) Pretty cool that it works even in that heat! We weren't sure about how much solar power we would have so didn't start our journey with one. We now know that we do have enough to run a fridge, but we've actually gotten used to not having one for over a year now so may just carry on without :D
Nice boat, I enjoyed the detailed tour! I recently bought a 28 footer myself, a 91 Hunter, my first boat and am excited to explore the pacific northwest once spring arrives. 28 ft is the perfect size for me. Looking fwd to seeing more of your adventures!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching 😁. Ahh that's a nice looking boat, sure you'll have some amazing adventures in the Pacific Northwest - it looks so beautiful there!
Cool storage idea for your quarter berth I saw on another channel: Use two plastic tubs that fit the berth space. Cut a hole on the rear most tub's rim, tie a rope to it long enough to reach your chart desk from the back of the berth. Put the second tub in front of it and shove them both all the way to the back of the quarter berth. When you need something out of these tubs (especially the rearmost one), simply pull the rope and they both will slide out like drawers so you don't have to crawl, stretch and reach!
@@ChasingCurrents Glad you liked the idea. I hope I didn't come off too strong on your cheat sheet idea, but your sheet makes PERFECT sense. Your cheat sheets immediately reminded me of the check lists all pilots use.
@@philliphill3390 That's great. We definitely find them useful! The previous owner actually kept a folder onboard with checklists for all sorts (winterising the boat, engine checks) he was very organised and it's helped us out as new sailors a lot!
Thank you for your comment Jim. Yeah it's typical really, a lovely sunny warm day- and the wind was howling 😂 can't win! Glad you enjoyed the video, got some upgrade videos coming up in the next couple of weeks ☺️
This was one of the best boat walk throughs that I've seen on UA-cam. Very complete and easy to understand. Great job guys! I look forward to watching your other video's and seeing how you get on.
Ah thanks so much for watching 😁 we love a boat tour too! Ah great little boats, but yeah there's less than 6ft headroom on those right? Can see why you had to get a bigger boat that would've got uncomfortable I'm sure! (It was either the bigger boat or the shorter fella right? 😂)
I've watched quiet a few of these boat tours, from 22' -35'. For me, this is the nicest boat I've seen. The only things I wouldn't do, would be to keep the inflatable inside, where it is. I would keep it in a storage area outside, maybe the area where you said you may paint. I don't think you need to paint the inside, tho I guess it wouldn't hurt. But mainly, I would get the ice box fixed. I know, because I live in Miami, and the heat will get to the food, much faster than in other places, especially England. And the oven and stove, to me, isn't important. Especially since it requires fuel, of some kind, which can be a fire hazard. I would be content with a hot plate, and crock pot. I sail small catamarans, and windsurfers, and am looking for a bigger boat, like this one.
Thank you for your comment and suggestions. We agree inflatable isn't ideal where it is, we've also tried in the outside lockers but again it's very hard to reach out of there. We're working on a better solution we hope 🤞 we've actually been onboard without refrigeration for 7 months now and it's fine ☺️ we probably find it easier as we don't eat dairy or meat so don't have much use for one. Wow that's awesome, can imagine you have a lot of fun sailing those! Good luck in your boat searches 😁
@ChasingCurrents I just started working with a 16qt 12V compressor portable cooler. It draws around 3.5 amps and runs 1/4 of the time set at 9C. Requires about 50W solar panel. I think it would work well for you.
Your willingness to cut the dock lines and just go for it when many people have prevalent feelings are to always feel that boats are never quite ready yet is admirable although stating that you don’t have a holding tank could get you in trouble in certain marinas so be careful saying it while out and about. Fair winds!
Ahhh you two are too cute for words. You remind me of my wife and I starting off sailing. We're from Wolverhampton and Wednesfield so we can understand you. Lol. After a few years flotilla sailing we both retired early, bought a Beneteau Oceanis 351 and lived in Levkas Marina for a few years. I'm really itching to get back on the water. Whatever happens don't get discouraged. There are so many very nice and helpful people in the worldwide family of cruiser-sailors who will help you if you need it. The community in Levkas Marina are wonderful people and the city is is a great place to get lost in. The Greek Islands are a wonderful, safe place to to enjoy sailing. Visit Kalamos and order a Ravani for pudding. It's simple stuff but it's very nice. My favourite. Fair winds. John & Carol. PS You don't need to be living in the marina to enjoy it's services, (bars).
Hey John & Carol, thanks for the lovely comment ☺️☺️ definitely looking forward to getting to Greece - that sounds brilliant. We'd be quite happy to spend some time relaxing and swimming in beautiful blue waters! Totally agree, we've found the community so welcoming - and very tolerant of newbies 😅 hope you manage to get back out on the water soon? Fair winds to you both, all our best Jade & Brynn
I did the "Blue Peter" sticky back plastic work tops as well. it works really well and very cheap and easy to use. I liked it so much I did the walls in the head as well. Differnet colour of coarse
Definitely, it is such an easy way of transforming a room. And it's actually still going strong so lasting much better than we thought! Might also add some to the head at some point as well
Ah thanks so much for watching and for the comment! Yeah we feel very lucky to have found Talisman, definitely feels homely and spacious considering the size 😁
Well done, I really enjoyed that, keep it up would love to see more as you progress… Really great to see new sailors enjoying their boat, I’m so proud of ours and it’s only small, I just can’t wait to get back on her after lockdown, hence really enjoying seeing other peoples boats whist stuck at home… I’ve subscribed now so looking forward to seeing much more of you guys and your adventures! I will work my way through your back catalogue now but it be great to hear your story and how you’ve ended up afloat.
Hey Simon, so glad you enjoyed the tour!! And thank you for your kind words. It's definitely been a hard few months for everyone away from their boats hasn't it, hope you're able to get back onboard soon enough 🤞 We can't wait to have some huge adventures! Really glad you're joining us 😁
Delighted for the pair of you. Wishing you the very best of luck in the adventure! Can't wait for future videos of the prep for the sail to the Med, and updates on what is difficult and what goes wrong! (Not that I think you're not very capable, just that THOSE 'what went wrong and how we got out of it' videos are the MOST useful to newbies like me. Anyway, GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Thanks so much Alan, really appreciate that. Oh yes, don't worry there will be plenty to go wrong 😅 we are so excited to share all the details! We have a couple of boatwork related videos being released next, and then after that we should be beginning the sailing adventure 😁⛵ Cheers for the support, and fair winds to a fellow newbie!
Looks like a lovely boat! So much potential as well. The young lady is very pretty. The dude has some really serious eyebrows! I really enjoyed the video. New sub! What a lovely manner and voice she has! So pleasant! Why does he have a cat under his chin?
It's cool to see you have a Gosun stove! You might be interested in the refrigerator they sell now, Gosun Chill. It's very quiet and efficient. We use one in our camper van and love it. Thank you for the video.
Nice video, not a lot of wasted space, I have a Catalina 30, now after 3 years she has a new transmission I installed but I will keep the new 9.9 Yamaha outboard on as a backup. Redoing electrical now, it's really a rats nest, look forward to your progress, hoping to get a lot of cruising in the San Juan Islands and cruise to Alaska in a couple years when I retire then head down to Mexico and take it from there. Good luck and great job you are doing there.
We feel your pain with the electrics! Cruising the San Juan islands/Alaska sounds incredible, we would love to cruise in that area one day. Really appreciate your comment, thanks for watching the video too ☺️☺️
That was a nice, straightforward tour, by a couple of down-to-earth British sailors - with no tawdry quasi-romantic musak for a change (thank you!). It seems a bit small for two liveaboards, but if you're comfortable within those limits, that's all that matters. I liked that cheat with the roll of stick-on vinyl for the worktop, where others might squander a small fortune on fancy wood or marble. Don't get too professional and slick; the `ad-hoc amateur' presentation is a worthy effort. Enjoy yourselves - that's what it's about...!
Thanks so much for your comment, really appreciate that insight! You never know how you'll come across on camera so this is a relief 😅. It's definitely small, we've spent about 4 months living onboard in total now - not a great length of time to judge how it will be but so far we've loved it. Watch this space though 😂
Very nice little setup ... lots of storage for a 28. My only pet peeve is the door to the V-berth ... it would really have made more sense to use a pocket door ... when space is tight a pocket door can save so much space.
Fantastic job sharing your boat with us. Seems like a very intelligent design with well laid out spaces. Your videography and editing are spot on. Subscribed and looking forward to more content.
Ah thanks so much.Yeah we've found it so comfortable for living aboard, super happy so far! Appreciate your feedback, and really glad to have you joining our journey 😊
Thanks Andy, yeah we feel very lucky to have found her! Not seen a small boat quite like her for space and layout 😊. Ah our boat was actually made in Emsworth! We've got some friends over in the marina there too. Fair winds, thanks for watching 😁
Great tour, so good to hear that you are making the leap of faith......and I am now subscribed. I noticed that your bilge pump handle has a line wrapped around it. This is so that you can tether the handle, you definitely don't want to loose it over board in heavy seas, which is when you could be needing it the most. Please tether/tie it on, even if it is onto a point inside the locker.
@@simontaylor3492 we're putting them out every 2 weeks at the moment. We'll move onto weekly as soon as lockdown lifts and we're able to make new videos again 😁
Catching up on your videos after seeing your Biscay crossing. I have a 30 foot boat that I've been upgrading in a similar way to yourselves. I found myself nodding in agreement a lot watching your tour and rationals behind your decisions. I have a 25L Dometic 12v fridge that i absolutely love and happens to fit a space on my boat, easy on the amps but a bit pricy if super budget conscious. Lovely boat by the way, great storage!
Thanks so much for your comment Mark. We're definitely happy with the upgrades we've carried out, and after living onboard now for a while the space is more than ample for the two of us 😁 glad you agree too! We had thought about getting some kind of similar fridge, but after now going so long without - I don't think we need one. (Warm beers are the compromise, so we switched to wine 😂)
Excellent video and great looking boat. Your furler might be less likely to jam if you tighten your back stay as the forestay looked a bit slack. Also, flush the lower mechanism out with plenty of fresh water and check the upper swivel is free and the halyard doesn't wrap round the forestay.
Hey Bernie, thanks for the comment- appreciate the suggestions! We've already done the fresh water, and the halyard doesn't wrap. Will definitely check the forestay 👌
@@ChasingCurrents I had a Plastimo furler and eventually got it to work really well by changing out the plastic ball bearings with stainless. The plastic balls weren't round! Also, totally against everyone's advice I used light grease. But the back stay tension did have an effect and might be worth trying first.
Pressurised water supplies are great but I wouldn’t be in too much of a hurry to get rid of the manual pump. Having both is infinitely preferable - the leak is almost certainly repairable, it’s usually just an ‘O’ ring that needs replacing Looks like you’re settling into life onboard, enjoy!!
Hey thanks for commenting 🙂, we're definitely keeping the tap in the head manual incase of a failure. Hopefully it will make our lives a bit easier with pressurised water in the galley. We're definitely settling in 😄 Birmingham doesn't prepare you for living on the water haha Thanks again for commenting 🙂
That was a good video. I'd never heard of a Saltern Stag before but it certainly gets a good write up in Yachting World. You both strike me as having the right attributes to be successful liveaboards and cruisers. The first of these (IMO) is not having a boat which is too big. IMO again, if you want to minimise stress have simple systems which you can understand and maintain yourselves, and basically try and create a life which enables you to be independent and costs less than you can afford. Tolerate a few hardships and inconveniences rather than go for the big boat, at least until you know you like the lifestyle. If nothing else I'm sure you've found that living aboard in a marina you meet some very interesting people. In the UK it's relatively cheap compared to living ashore. This latter is something I've been finding in recent years since owning a house! Are there many other liveaboards in the marina? How are you coping with condensation? That's the worst problem IMO in the UK in winter. I reckon if you can live through winter together on this boat in the present restrictions and still like eachother at the end you'll be fine! I've subscribed so look forward to checking out the videos you've made and seeing what you get up to in the future. It's cold at the moment but the days are really lengthening now. It will soon be spring. Cheers from Cornwall.
Thanks so much for your comment. Yes, we hadn't heard of them either - it blew our minds when we went on-board as the layout felt so much more spacious than other similar sized boats and she was in great condition - been looked after well. Couldn't agree more, we're happy with our choice so far. Buying cheap and small also meant we could afford all the appropriate safety equipment for our travels! Yes we definitely have met some great people, there's 42 liveaboards in total at our marina - some very interesting characters! We've actually not had TOO much trouble with condensation. We we're getting some at the start of winter, but we hooked up a dehumidifier and that's worked a treat. Ahh thank you for subscribing, we can't wait for the spring so our big adventure can begin. Really hope you enjoy our videos 😁
stoked to have found your channel! thanks for the tour of your boat my dream is to get one as well for sailing with my kids. But till then i just keep following epic channels like yours.
Just a tip; That small outboard motor can/should be stored in your large locker when in port. You can build a rack for it in there. THAT`S THE #1 ITEM PEOPLE WILL STEAL! It`s quick to take, and has value ANYWHERE.
@@ChasingCurrents can you share where the stack pack came from, and costs? I’m looking for one for my Cobra 850. It has a slotted boom, with a bolt rope so I’m unsure how it would go together. Love your video- haven’t heard that accent for 30 years since living in the Channel Islands. 23 years liveaboard now. Great job guys! Subscribed.
Hey, we had it made at bond sails at Southsea marina. It was around £700 for the stackpack / lazyjacks and the fitting. Im sure if you're local you could give them a call and send them pictures over email, they will be able to help you better then and maybe tell you what it is your looking for. We feel like it's the worst accent in the UK 😅, Peaky Blinders has helped us seem cooler i think though. 23 years 🤯 thats amazing! I do wish we had come across cruising and living on a sailboat sooner, the longer we can be on the ocean the better! Thank you so much for subscribing, so glad to have you joining our adventure.
@@ChasingCurrents thank you for taking the time to reply, I’ll look into it. This year I’m lifting my 28 footer for a refit so that is the time to do it. I also have a 36 foot Pearson I bought in the U.K. last year, without even seeing her. Good survey... when lockdown is over I’ll contact you guys for a beer / pizza on me. I also have a place in torrevieja Spain if you need a bed. All the best!
@@ianclarke8821 you're very welcome, hope it helped. Wow that's awesome, you'll have your hands full then! Ah they seem like great boats, we actually went on-board sailing uma's pearson 36 at the Southampton boat show. Ahh we'll take you up on that offer I'm sure! Really appreciate that 😁
A great boat tour, thank you for sharing. I started to wonder why you had so much spare storage but then you said you weren't actually living on her full-time, then it made sense 🙂. Definitely try and get something sorted about the refrigeratoration. You're going to need it when you start to sail south. Great video. Look forward to your next episode 🙂⛵.
Thank you! Yep, this was taken back in June - I can assure you it doesn't look like that now 😂 the lockers are full to the brim! Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching 🥰
Great boat, looks strong and sound. First time I have seen one. You must get a third set of reefing points. Roller genoas don’t normally set well when part reefed. Think about fitting a storm sail on a removable forestay. Perhaps get a third anchor. Those huge lockers would worry me, if a big wave rip off the lid, the locker would take in tons of water. Also check that there are no openings between lockers and the main bilge, that would e a double disaster. Look forward to watching the following videos.
Ahh thank you so much! We will hopefully get a third reef in our main as part of the winter jobs. We have already switched out our genoa for a heavy weather high cut jib that has can be reefed 3 times on the furler (has worked very well crossing the Bay of Biscay). There are locks on the lockers to stop them opening but a couple have broke now so this is a good reminder to fix them! Again thank you so much for commenting 😁
A great tour folks. The boat is very well designed by the look of it. I would recommend a wind vane self steering if you are planning long passages. (I had a Navik when I single handed a 27 footer to the Caribbean back starting in 97). How are you coping at present with accessing your boat? I can't even visit mine in Totnes let alone move onboard, as I intended to when I bought it in Autumn last year.
Thanks for the comment! We would absolutely love a wind vane, but they are definitely not in our budget at the moment. We're definitely hoping for one in the future 🤞 We're similar to you. Our Marina no longer gives 'liveaboard' contracts, but they were turning a blind eye to us before. During lockdown we're not allowed to be on-board either unfortunately, so we're holding up at our parents house in Birmingham at the minute. As soon as our Marina contract is up in April time we'll leave the marina and carry on with our travels ☺️ been an interesting year!
Hello!, super nice boat!!! really cozy and very, very good distribution, I have a Catalina 30, and your sailboat looks bigger than mine!, I hope see you sailing. Best from Texas!
Hey Carlos, thanks so much for your comment! Yes they've used the space really well, we love it :) ahh that's cool, Catalina 30's are great boats. Hope to see you sailing too! Sending our best from England
No holding tank? Is that common in your part of the world? Love the boat - kinda blown away at how well the space is used and how much headroom there is.
Yep no holding tank 👍 don't think It's too common to have them on boats of this age and style- being more of a 'weekend cruiser'. So were we when we first viewed it, hadn't seen anything on the same level! It's extremely comfortable to live/sail on.
Great video guys! What an awesome little boat! I wondered if it might be worth putting a bit of sticky back foam in the anchor locker. That anchor could maybe damage the locker bouncing around in a big swell?
Thats such a good call. Thank you for the comment! It hadn't crossed my mind, but now you mention it makes sense. We're glad you liked the video 😁. We love the awesome little boat 😁
Well done and nice wee film. id have the Seacock plugs closer to the sea cocks cause if and when that time happens you'll really will be happier with them closer! a tiny hammer will help there too! I also live on my tiny boat!. lots of fun even in the winter!!!
Nice one, I love boat tour videos too Bryn... Always get some good ideas (I want to cover our galley area so thanks for that one!) and has absolutely nothing to do with me being nosey! 🤥😂
Great boat! I'm planning on buying a Catalina 27-30 footer. I feel like I should buy a Catalina 27 with outboard/tiller. Since I'm a novice and dont anything about engine work. From my research the outboard and tiller are easier to maintain especially for a starter boat.
Hi Guys. Good boat tour. Looking forward to your upcoming videos and boat improvements. We are going to share your channel on our FB page. Hope this gets you some extra hits. We predict your going to grow quickly and want to give you a leg up at the start. Remember us when you get to 100k subs :-) Sail Safe Guys, Ant, Cid & the pooch crew.
That's so kind of you guys, thanks so much! 😁 We definitely owe you a beer somewhere in the Mediterranean! 🍻 All the best to you both and the pooches ⛵
I don't know anything about boats or sailing. I am actually a (hack) musician. However, I recently watched a very good and interesting youtube video by a guy who sailed solo from Los Angeles, CA to Hawaii. Now.... that was daring and adventurous and had me on the edge of my seat. I was so impressed that I started watching other travel sailing sites and then I ran into your latest video. I'll be anxiously waiting for your sailing trip to the mediterranean and can't wait to see what your adventure is going to be like. It really takes a lot of courage and guts to do what you guys are planning to do. I wish you the best in all your future sailing expeditions.
Thanks so much for your message. Wow that's awesome, do you remember who the guy was? Sounds exciting. Really appreciate your support, it's definitely been a huge challenge. The learning is none stop, but we're having a fun time doing it. Hope you enjoy the upcoming videos!
@@ChasingCurrents Yeah, you can see his video at "Sailing Sam Holmes". He took his solo trip a little over a year ago. By the way, I'm subscribing to your channel. Best of Luck!!!

Brilliant compact boat!! Great find guys good luck with the sail to med!! Really love the layout and headroom!!

@@24hourtravellers Thanks so much for your comment! Really appreciate the kind words 😁 glad to have you joining our adventure ❤️
Is really nice the way you guys are doing. I am now refitting a 28-foot boat also. :-) I am based in Mallorca, if you are around please let me know, the port near to our house is Portocolom east coast of Mallorca. :-)
Hoppe see you guys here. :-)

@@cassilva76 That's amazing! Same size boat as us 😁 we really hope to be in Mallorca in the near future, so will hopefully see you around 🤞🤞
Is your talisman 28 not listed on sailboat data.com? That appears to be the case to me I couldn’t find it. Thank you
I lived on a 28 ft sloop on SF bay for a year or 2 and I am impressed with what you have. Enjoy! If the lines are dry it is sunny, if lines are wet it is raining, if lines are missing it is a hurricane.
Ah thanks a lot :) that's awesome that you lived on a 28ft too! Haha, the stuff they don't teach you on your course 🤣
That's always been a dream of mine, how has the experience been all these years later?
This is great. After growing ever more impractical watching so many videos of large, high priced, amazingly outfitted boats that I couldn't possibly afford this was something that makes me more hopeful that I could find something that I could enjoy and actually afford. Thanks so much!!
Thanks for your comment, so glad that you enjoyed it and it gave you hope - it's definitely achievable 😁
Best part of being on a boat, is when shes all tip top, provisioned with everything youll need, its stormy and raining hard, and your nice and comfy down below, shes hove too, having a nice cup of tea....looking.in awe of the fierceness of the waves, wind, weather.
There's a lot to love in being so free of excess stuff that is so normal in the human condition. My best to you both.
Totally agree, makes you realise how much of all of the other stuff was unnecessary too. Thanks alot for the comment and for watching ☺️👍
This is the best, smartest interior layout of all 28f ever .
Thanks, we think so too! She's an awesome boat 😁
This is nice, but Look at an etap 28s...
just an FYI you'll need a holding tank or a different way to store your poop for the med, its a legal requirement in some counties.
What a great 28-ft boat It's one of the best layouts I've seen I think
Thanks Tim! We thought that too, we've found living aboard very comfortable so far
Love how you guys are just real people...will have to catch up on rest of your videos.
Aww thanks so much Anna, thank you for watching too 😊 hope you enjoy the rest of the videos!
@@ChasingCurrents Very much!
I live aboard a 28’ as well. I hav to say, the layout of your vessel is magnificent in comparison to my own.
Ah thanks so much 😊 totally agree! Can't beat the views and the sea air feeling and freedom is like nothing else. We love her too 😁
Absolutely lovely to see a yacht that I can actually see myself sailing........I've actually sailed a 30 foot vad start and my only comment to you is safety first always fire extinguisher need to be able what becomes a very bad situation very quickly I personally would triple up on them they small and Easy to stash ...enjoyed and look forward to following you....
Change furler bearings or at a minimum use a grease injector to lubricate the sealed bearings. Probably one of the most overlooked periodic maintenance items.
Nice 👍 me and my wife just got a 1979 Catalina 27” and are working on her daily! About to paint the whole interior! Trying to make her new again.
That's awesome! Congrats on the boat, excellent year of build ;) Aw lovely, thats one of those satisfied jobs where you see the results quickly! Haha. Good luck 👍
Nice 28' boat. Layout quite optimal for a classic design. Comfortable for 2 pax. All the best.
Wow we can’t believe how much storage you have! Such an efficient use of space 🥰 Your saloon looks so cosy!
Thanks for such a detailed overview of the boat. I'm just thinking about this for the first time so the nitty-gritty is really useful info, thanks!
Hey Peter,
Thank you so much for staying with us and for the super kind words.
Great layout of 28ft boat with plenty of storage space👌
Thanks for commenting! Yeah so far we've found it great living aboard the two of us, more than enough storage space 😊

Ah thanks so much! Agree, quite a unique layout - we've found it so comfortable so far. Really glad you enjoyed it 😊
I am obsessed with the layout of your boat and hope the one we find is similar!
Oh yes, we absolutely love the layout, was perfect for what we needed 😄 Hope you find something that suits you too! 👍
Thanks for the comment 👍
what a sweet little spacious and comfy boat... looks well built and maintained!
Thank you for your comment 😊 yes we feel very lucky, the previous owner maintained her amazingly! It definitely feels like our home.
I wish you all the best and safe sailing. You could have not picked a more rewarding hobby and challenge to do together, lots of memories to make have a great life .
Hey, thank you so much!

Hi I used to own a Fin keel stag “Vamoose.” Great boats, surprisingly quick, very roomy for their size and tough as old boots. Enjoy..
Yea You guys can add a Bimini arch and add a couple solar on top and off of the Arch you can hang your dingy when Island Hopping.
This is something we might look at this winter 👀
Cool storage idea for your quarter berth I saw on another channel: Use two plastic tubs that fit the berth space. Cut a hole on the rear most tub's rim, tie a rope to it long enough to reach your chart desk from the back of the berth. Put the second tub in front of it and shove them both all the way to the back of the quarter berth. When you need something out of these tubs (especially the rearmost one), simply pull the rope and they both will slide out like drawers so you don't have to crawl, stretch and reach!
Thats a pretty cool idea! Hadn't thought of anything like that, thank you. We will see if it works for us. 😁
Good job. I know that it was a little on the windy side, but that's life. A nice tour of your boat. Good luck with all of your plans and upgrades.
Thank you for your comment Jim. Yeah it's typical really, a lovely sunny warm day- and the wind was howling 😂 can't win! Glad you enjoyed the video, got some upgrade videos coming up in the next couple of weeks ☺️

Thanks so much Richard! Really glad you enjoyed. We're looking forward to seeing how we get on too 😅
Great video love a boat tour. My 1st live aboard was a Halcyon 27, I thought it was cosy until I got a 6'4" fella 😂. Had to buy a bigger boat 😀
Lovely tour. Happy for you finding a good sailboat. Looking forward to sharing your adventures. Cheers, S/V Cork ~
Aww thank you so much ☺️ Glad you enjoyed it! All our best, Brynn and Jade 👍
What a lovely home! Great boat tour and you are both such naturals on camera. We can't wait for the next episode :)
Ahh thank you for the kind words 😁😁 appreciate that! Can't wait to see you guys on camera too 👌
Charming boat and a charming couple. Thanks for posting.
Ah thanks for watching David 😁
Loved the tour. Great ideas for our own project boat. The nav station looks great. The layout is similar to ours so it was good to see it done.
So glad you enjoyed the tour! Ah that's awesome, what boat do you have?

Really appreciate your comment, thanks for watching the video too ☺️☺️
Great Video guys, amazing storage and versatile layout.
Ah thanks so much! 😁
Talisman looks great guys, I love a good boat tour! 😀Really enjoyed watching this video and looking forward to the next one! 👍
Thanks so much guys! 😁 Glad you enjoyed 👍

Thanks so much for your comment. That's great advice, we will definitely do that as soon as we're back on board!

@@berniebranfield8124 ahh interesting to hear what worked for you! Good to know those options incase the backstay doesn't make a difference 👍
Pressurised water supplies are great but I wouldn’t be in too much of a hurry to get rid of the manual pump. Having both is infinitely preferable - the leak is almost certainly repairable, it’s usually just an ‘O’ ring that needs replacing
Looks like you’re settling into life onboard, enjoy!!
Hey thanks for commenting 🙂, we're definitely keeping the tap in the head manual incase of a failure. Hopefully it will make our lives a bit easier with pressurised water in the galley. We're definitely settling in 😄 Birmingham doesn't prepare you for living on the water haha
Thanks again for commenting 🙂
You can put your chart plotter on a swivel Arm where it can be seen from inside and out whilst captaining

You're welcome! Really glad you enjoyed the tour. Thanks so much for the kind words, happy to have you on the journey with us 😊
Just a tip; That small outboard motor can/should be stored in your large locker when in port. You can build a rack for it in there. THAT`S THE #1 ITEM PEOPLE WILL STEAL! It`s quick to take, and has value ANYWHERE.
Hey Nick, that's a good point! Thanks for the comment 👍
love that stack pack! We can't wait to have one of those. they make sailing so much easier
It's a game changer! We weren't sure if it would be worth the money but it definitely is, makes it so much safer and easier.
@@ChasingCurrents haha! Yes, you had shorts on I remember lol
@@SailingSVCordelia haha exactly, a sure sign that it's June in the UK - the one sunny month 😂
We're definitely hoping for one in the future 🤞
We're similar to you.
You seem like a cool couple! I enjoyed the tour.
Aw thanks so much Michael 😁 Glad you enjoyed!
Nice boat, it will take you anywhere you want to go! Congratulations.
Aww thanks so much for your comment ☺️ we've definitely got big plans for this little boat!
Thanks guy! Very cool little boat..
Thanks Trev 😁👍
Thanks! Glad you got some ideas from the video 😁 hahaa definitely not 👀 😂
Arrrrh, i miss you're sailing videos. I hope you're both ok 💙💜
Ahh yes we have seen it 🤯. This guy is amazing. Crazy sailing a 23ft boat.
Thank you so much for subscribing 😁 we really appreciate it.
What a great little boat!👍
Waw looks really comfy inside 😊 thanks for sharing what your home looks in this very détailed vidéo 😊
Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed 😁😁
This is a cool boat! ⛵
Thank you so much 😁
