I've been to Weir & Sons and they are incredible and kind people. I told them that I couldn't afford any of their stuff and was there just to check the collections and that I've heard of their store. They were kind enough to show me a few very nice watches and I got to talk to them about their history for a few mins.
Same here, just visited Dublin early November and tried on some watches in their store. Very impressive watch brands from affordable all the way to the Holy Trinity (but no Rolex available just like everywhere else LOL), friendly and helpful staff, and great lighting for observing watches on wrist. Always a busy store, witnessed many purchases during my two weeks there.

Was in Weirs' and Sons only 2 weeks ago and I spent an age looking at the Tudors on sale and the guy I was speaking with was really friendly, passionately interested in watches and really helpful. He let me try on whatever I wanted (even the grand seiko's that were wayyy out of my budget). Fantastic store, old world charm. HUGELY recommended.
Shops like that are the best. I remember being a kid maybe 18 or 19 walking into my local dealer in shorts and t shirt and just floored when they let me try stuff on. Now that's where I go when I'm shopping for a new piece

@@TheMalteseFury Was there looking at the Tudor blackbay 41mm but they didn't have the version I was after (79230R), in fact no dealers in Ireland had that version. So I purchased a Straum Opphav Damascus instead (to scratch my itch) and put my name on the list for the new stock when it arrives in later this year :)

The green aquanaut strap went for megabucks because people were putting them on the steel watch as well and there was a rumour that they were discontinuing it. On John Mayers 2nd appearance on talking watches he mentions it, because he was sitting on 2 uncut ones.

To be really nerdy, the green dial day-date has Indo-Arabic numerals, Arabic numerals being the ones the rest of us use every day. Norn Irish boy here, been living in the Middle East for 12 years and I’ve only recently found what those numerals are called, so I feel the need to share that knowledge 😂 Love the channel btw - Nico, you’re an absolute legend!

In my opinion the nicest meteorite dial to this day is the speedy soyuz because of the color contrast between dial and subdials.
I also prefer green. I am not that rich;) so I got a breitling b01 (I think the last 3 years breitling did great things) and a jaeger reverso in green. I had money left sold all my Rolex watches (4;) 2 years ago. Also have the b09, that looks similar, it’s just a bit smaller with 40 and the green looks like more like on newspaper.

When this came out it reminded me of why i liked watches. Owning watches are fun. Then i got caught up in the arguments(which has its pluses and minuses) i came away thinking it is a good thing. More people wearing a watch. I can appreciate the "cheaping of the brand' argument. I can understand is this worth the cost argument as well. Would have buy one in the open market no. Would i wear one if someone gave me one. Heck yeah. I think it is positive. Its gotten people talking about watches. Nothing wrong with that. If you will paying to pay for it good on you.
Gotto say that i like the Arabic numerals on that Rolex very organic compared to the normal dial.
People buy the extra green strap because to wear the watch, you have to cut the rubber -- so a completionist collector might want to have an uncut strap in the collection as well.
Those are not Arabic numerals those are Persian Numerals.
The arabic ones are those everyone uses : 1 2 3 4...
