      1. Fill Pool
      2. Fill chlorine bobber to the top and put in pool.
      3. Start Pump
      4. Check your PH and Chlorine levels. Add accordingly. The back of both will tell you how much to add.
      5. Run your pump for 8-10 hours, then check your levels again. Add if you need too. If not, enjoy! Check your levels every couple days. The summer heat will ZAP all the chemicals quick.
      Let me know if you have any questions.

    I have a small above-ground pool with roughly 1800 gallons of water, and I'm learning about pool maintenance. I bought several products from Clorox, based on the app. Do the products in this video matter the most? Also, I believe the main things to watch for are chlorine, pH, and alkalinity levels. However, based on the Clorox testing strips, I'm not sure if the water hardness number matters. Any advice you can give would be very helpful.

    Hi it’s me again…lol..ok one more question when you shock your pool is that for first time fill up, or every week? Than add liquid choline, then the tablets

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  3 місяці тому +1

      Great question! It is kinda all of the above. Ha! Shocking your pool after you fill it up is recommended. This will give the pool a big dose of chlorine. Then check your PH and and chlorine levels every other day through the summer. Shock as needed. During the summer, I typically shock the pool once a week and twice at the peak of summer. The chlorine bobber needs to be filled with the tablets at all times, as it stays in the pool around the clock. This will help dissipate the chlorine at a slower level.

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  3 роки тому +1

      You will need to balance your chlorine and PH 1st. Both of those can be added at once. Run your pump for 6-8 hours then recheck those levels. Add if they aren't where they need to be. If they are high it will even out over a couple days. Just make sure you run your pump daily, for 6-8 hours. As far as how much, you will need to refer to the back of the bottle. It will show how much depending on your pool size.

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  2 роки тому

      Hi! Yes, for the most part all you will need for maintenance is shock and chlorine tablets. However, with the heat of the summer adding an Algacide with clarifier is crucial to keep the alage at bay. I typically shock my pool every couple days, and keep the chlorine bobber full at all times with tablets. I use the alagicde treatment maybe once a week. As water is added, either by rain or you adding it with a hose, it will mess with the PH level. So, I keep PH up and PH down on hand for those instances. You should be checking your chlorine and PH levels every couple of days with a tester. Hope this helps!

    I filled my pool over the weekend. Nothing has been added I am so lost. What will I start with?

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  2 роки тому

      You need to check your chlorine and PH levels. Most likely you will need to add choline (shock), chlorine tablets in your bobber, and add PH up or down. Your tester will show what you are lacking, and add accordingly to the directions on the back.

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  3 роки тому +1

      After filling I would check your chlorine and PH levels. Adjust if needed. You will adjust according to the directions on the back. Make sure you have a chlorine bobber is full and stays full at all times. Run your pump. You probably won't need any alagcide for a couple week, but if your water turns cloudy or you notice algae on the bottom add accordingly.

    We just bought our pool and i went to the store to pick up the things you mentioned in your video. I’m just at a loss on what to put in to my pool when I first fill it. Will it require everything? Because I see the algaecide and shock is more of a maintenance thing.

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  2 роки тому +2

      When you first fill it you need to check your chlorine and PH levels. Most likely you will need to add shock and PH up or down. Shock is a maintenance that needs to be added when the pool needs is.. Once those are balanced, a weekly check to make sure it stays balanced is necessary. When the summer heat starts checking your levels every couple days is necessary because the sun will zapp the chemicals. I don't have to use alagicde until the heat of the summer when the water is super warm. Hope this helps!

    • @smv546
      @smv546 2 роки тому +2

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  2 роки тому +2

      I have had a pool for over 5 years, and the only chemicals I have ever used are shock, PH up/down, chlorine tablets and alagicde. Your main focus needs to be keeping the chlorine levels and PH levels balanced, vaccumm/sweep every couple days, a running a good pump.

    Hello,
    I really liked your video. I have the exact same pool, Coleman 22’ X 52” swim vista II. How did you calculate the 16,500 gallons? We are having trouble keeping our pool clear and think maybe our calculations for total water are off….? 22 feet X 4.33 feet= 12,364, and the water doesn’t go to the top rail of 52”. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  3 роки тому

      I use the 16,500 loosely. I know there are many factors that can change that. If your water is cloudy 1 or 2 things are needed. You may need to add more chlorine. I typically use the 1 lb packages of shock when I do mine. If your chlorine and PH are good, then I suggest adding the Algacide and clarifier. Hope this helps.

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  3 роки тому

      It has actually been raining for 3 weeks straight. We also love in Texas. There isn't much I can do until it stops raining because my chemicals won't stay balanced. Rain will raise the PH. When it stops raining I will shock it, deal with the PH, and use Algacide. I am trying to run my automatic vaccumm every couple days. I do not have a heater on the pool, it just warms up as the temps rise.

    I bought a used 16X48 inch pool and it has leaves inside it and the water will probably be nasty once i fill it. Do i only need to shock the pool and add the ph & chlorine tablets inside the pool ?
    Also, is one bottle of shock good enough for my size pool?

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  2 роки тому +1

      You need to remove all the leaves before you fill it. Otherwise, you will be fighting a loosing battle keeping it clean. Once you add the water check your chlorine and PH levels. Adjust them as needed. You can add shock and PH at the same time. It is a good habit to check your chlorine and PH levels once or twice a week.

    So you use the the shock and the chlorine tablets or can you choose one

    • @The5MFamily
      @The5MFamily  3 роки тому

      Yes, they can added at the same time. Cholrine tablets stay in all the time, and the shock is only done as needed. When you shock your pool you are adding a big dose of chlorine to your pool at once. The tablets help keep very minimal amounts of chlorine in the water, so that is why a good shock is sometimes needed.
