    I trust your wife's tasting opinion more than yours 😂😂 She let's it be known if the tomato is a spitter or not just by the expression on her face, that's much appreciated. If I were to take the gentleman's opinion I'd grow every tomato there, but thanks to your wife I can now trim down my list. Thank you, for sharing your video and information!

      Thanks for watching! I think my opinion is a bit biased 😂 Michaela thinks tomatoes all taste the same 😂 glad you found the video useful, I'll be making another one at the end of this summer for the 20 or so new varieties I'm growing this year! 🍅

    Sungold are an F1 variety. Unless you can get different kinds of Sungold.

      Yes that's correct, it is a hybrid! I had in my head it was open pollinated for some reason 🤷‍♂️ 🍅

      @@downtoearthwithjim I came here to say the same, though I think that I actually had some Sungold that hybridized with something and came up volunteer in my garden from compost. The tomatoes were bigger, more like a salad type, but had the flavor of a Sungold! I did save some seeds, though I have no idea what I'll get next year. If they come back true to type, I'll be thrilled.

      I heard of Sungold Select and Sun Sugar I believe they are both hybrids of Sungold. Haven't seen much info on them.

    You can tell if a green tomato is ripe but the feel of it.. if they are hard they are not ripe if they are soft then it's done and it has yellow on it

      Thanks Nik. Grew some Xanadu green goddess last year, as well as evil olive. Brads atomic grape is another that is hard to tell when ripe. I haven't got any of those this year 😭

    did you grow any of these outdoors?

    • @downtoearthwithjim
      @downtoearthwithjim  Рік тому

      No, but many of them can grow outdoors quite easily. They'll always do better in a greenhouse or polytunnel, which I did. But definitely can be grown outdoors too. Mountain magic and crimson crush are good varieties for outdoor growing. I did grow mountain magic outdoors last year (not included in the video)
