I always change my own oil. I saw a tip recently on youtube for filters located like this. Drain the oil out the drainplug. Crack the filter loose a half turn so air can get into the top. drill a 1/8th inch hole in the center/bottom of the filter. let that hole drain too, while you go to clean the dust off of your solar panels. When you go to spin the filter all the way off, its not spilling all over when you sneeze from all that solar panel dust...
Its not a bad idea to fill the new oil filter with fresh oil so that it wear is minimized when you start it up the first time - it will get oil to engine parts quicker than installing a dry filter. Walmart now carries the mobil 1 ESP X2 DexosD approved oil and PF66 filters. Less expensive than ordering a kit from amazon and you get a better oil. Both are made by Mobil 1 however the branded Mobil 1 ESP X2 is a full synthetic and AC delco oil is a synthetic blend.
Generally speaking, virtually every (except Amsoil's Syn blend which is 50/50) Synthetic-blend oil is 90% conventional oil. But they Won't tell you that. Much better to use Full synthetic.
Timely video. I'm thinking about this truck as my last truck in my lifetime. You can get some serious towing with that little 3.0 litre and decent day-to-day fuel economy as well. 0W-20 in a diesel... How times change! My old Cummins was 15W-40, and my Ecodiesel is 5W-40. Also interesting that you have only a 7 quart sump. My 3 litre Ecodiesel needs 10.5 and I think the Cummins was around that. I'd like to hear some more about how that truck has been treating you.
I absolutly love this truck! Best mpg doing 75-80mph was 33. Pretty flat ground tho. Of course it can do better and worse lol. In town with stoplights and 25mph is around 20ish. Normal highway is 29. I havent really had a chance to tow much since we sold our boat but they say its great. Has great get up an go too. Yeah the oil is a lil diff then my last diesel as well.
What happened to the solar and battery stuff… your black cat was missing too ;) have u opened a Canada solar battery? I wonder how they are built internally.
Havent made a vehicle video in a while😁 Havent opened the ep cube battery. Id have to rip it off the wall along with the inverter and wiring. If I ever get the 6th battery Ill look into taking it apart!😆🤘
Thanks! First new truck I ever purchased and LOVE IT! The baby duramax is AWESOME! Super glad I got it. Great mpg too. I originally started looking at the 6.6l duramax 2500's but took a tape measure with me and found that they wouldnt fit in my garage lol
just did the first oil change on my volt after 30k miles. feels weird doing an oil change on an EV. decided to put a ring of 2x1cm fridge magnets around the oil filter. like 1$ from china. why not.
Such a beauty, I bet it has automatic windows, seats, motorized mirrors... But why the heck isn't there an oil chage button???? A manual screw UNDER the car? WTF?
Thank You! Yep has auto windows, seats and a bunch moar. Surprisingly mine does not have auto mirrors🙄😁 True, in this day and age they should have an oil change button🤔🤷♂️

You should keep a couple of those Blue Def funnels around they fit on a whole lot of different jugs and work fantastic
