I will add Becareful of Amazon fuel filter ax delco immatations made in China, mine from the dealer say made in Chech republic.
Thanks for a straightforward no nonsense instructional video
I'm glad you like this. Thanks for watching.
Key part you missed. You should press and hold the start button (without touching the brake peddle) for 20 seconds or until you hear the process. That is what actually initiates the self prime process. It is quite loud.
👍
Thanks very much for this, especially the great camera angle of what you were doing underneath. 22 Chev Silverado RST
Thanks!!
Just wanted to say thank you, just did this tonight on my truck. Followed step-by-step. Was some funky noises after the first start up, but all seems to be normal now.
Good to hear!
Thank you for DIY videos. Your videos are very informative and useful.
I appreciate your positive feedback!
Thank you! Worked great on my 23 Yukon 3.0. Only thing I did different was hold down the start button for 5 seconds which primes the fuel pump /filter. You can hear it actively working. Other than that everything else went as you described.
Thanks for sharing!'
Great video and thanks for the content!
Thanks!
Thanks for this! I was thinking about doing the same thing myself 17,000 miles
Good luck!
FYI, if you are buying OEM AC Delco parts for a GMC Yukon or Cadillac Escalade, buying them from the Chevrolet dealer is almost always cheaper and usually in stock. I found this out with oil filter and drain plug between GMC and Chevrolet dealers with my Yukon. The GMC dealer was out of stock so I went to the Chevy dealer across the street and saved a bunch and got what I needed. Unless the part is unique to the brand like a headlight or taillight they all use the same part number for the general maintenance parts like air filters, oil filters, oil...etc. Thanks for the great video MG!
Thanks for the tip!
I agree! Learned that the hard way. I was buying all my maintenance parts from Amazon, for example my oil. Amazon had the whole 7 quarts w/ oil filter for 90 dollars including shipping. Went to a Chevy dealership nearby and got it for just around 65 dollars.
I have a 22 Sierra and was wondering where and how the filter got changed, so i could do it myself. Thanks for this.
Yes! As you can see it's an easy diy project
thanks again !@@Myksgarage
Great, video that I will use as a first time diesel engine owner. Is there no valve or shut-off to close first so fuel doesn't leak, beyond the minimal in the filter? Do you use a fuel additive?
I don't use any fuel additives
I have been buying my parts/oil at the dealership so it is in their computer system that I am using factory recommended parts & oil , I am at 10.000 miles now & this coming oil change will be replacing the fuel filter too
That's a good idea
Thanks. Great video. Here in Canada that filter was $107
Not pleased about that
Was that the dealer cost?
@@Myksgarage Napa Gold. Changed it myself. Probably another $100 if the shop got involved…..
Can you not order from Amazon? I paid $28 for an OEM ACDelco...
My exact thought I would never run a Napa filter on any diesel motor.
Careful with that Napa gold it could void warranty!
So its Ok to just tighten without torque wrench?
I did
Any issues with this engine?
Oil consumption?
Thanks
Zero issues and doesn't consume oil at all
@@Myksgarage thanks good video👍
You’re supposed to press and hold the ignition button for 5 seconds to prime the pump…
Okay thanks
This comment wins
Do you have a video showing how to change the engine air filter?
Not yet....
Looking forward to it
Its very easy. Just 3-4 philips head screws to remove the top of the filter housing & a flathead to loosen the clamp on the intake hose. Separate the hose from the housing. The filter housing is held on one side by grooves to make sure its lined up correctly. I always make sure to remove any debris before installing the new filter.
There is a good one on UA-cam now on 2020 to 2024 Silverado 3.0 Duramax, one screw was hard to unscrew because the engineers didn't allow enough room to work, uggh.
Just for clarity, they did NOT move to the LZ0 for the 2024 model year. It's expected (but not confirmed) to be on the 2025 model year.
Good to know
Why wait 2 minutes and 30 seconds? The fuel pump doesn't prime for that long, just a few seconds at best when you open the door.
Just to make sure to get the air out of the lines
so changing this filter every 5,000 miles is overkill?
It's not going to hurt....
@@Myksgarage good deal
Overkill IMO. not going to hurt anything except your wallet.
@@BrianNC81 ok cool. Yeah I’m not worried about the cost of a $10 filter.
@@traviscrown9189 it should cost more than 10$ Amazon ac delco filters are fakes the real ac delco filter is made in Czech Republic and should cost $22-28 I do mine every 10k I wouldn’t go 30k as I have heard of them getting clogged and pulling in dirt at 30k.
It looked like you didn’t have that larger o ring seated properly and you should have put a little oil on all o rings before installing the filter. Also I saw a little edit, did you start cross threading the housing when you tried to install it? Better luck next time!
Well we can't all be GM master mechanics
@@Myksgarage sure you can! Just try a little harder.
That filter looks in decent shape at 15k miles. I'll probably change mine every 20k instead of 25-30k as indicated on the dash.
Yeah it didn't look bad at all
@@Myksgarage dependant on the fuel, the tank before I change it I'm going to run through an entire fuel tank with hot shots secret diesel extreme additive. Deep cleans the entire fuel system and injectors.
It didn’t look good either, I have read reports that some will get plugged off and suck in dirt. I’ll do mine every 10k.
The dealer want 650 for this.
No way!!
That’s not OEM filter, Chinese knockoff
They are all Chinese knockoffs
@@Myksgaragedead wrong, the actual ac delco is made in Czech Republic!!! Becareful of the Amazon Chinese ac delco Chinese knockoffs!!!
