I have no problem with them doing what they want but the commercialisation of death has gotten to the point where the living relatives feel they have to go into debt to properly mourn a loved one who has passed. It’s therefore incredibly disingenuous to frame what is simply a commercial enterprise as some sort of new mourning ritual.
Hundreds of years in the future, I can imagine families celebrating marriages with each spouse wearing individualized crowns and tiaras, inset with jewels made of generations of loved ones. Not a fashion item, but your literal ancestry joining you in ceremony.
Thats great but people have now formed an attachment to that jewellery which means when they lose it or it breaks, theyll be devastated.. people need to learn to let go so they keep the memories not something physical

Captain here: To grow diamonds you need carbon from special areas in the world. Brazil is known to have the best. If you ask scientists in the know of how to grow diamonds, they will tell you that you can add up to 3% of human ashes carbon to the mixture so the human carbon is not keeping the good stuff to grow into a diamond. The resulting diamond has no human carbon in it. Never. If you’d want to get more information and get in contact to non-affiliated scientists, message me. We will find a way to communicate. Press or attorneys or law enforcement only.
It's a lovely idea and obviously incredibly emotional for the people involved. But it's not actually TRUE. Cremation burns at 1500 degrees and that breaks down the carbon in your body. There is nothing in the ashes to grow a diamond from. The diamond they grow is 100% from the EXTRA carbon they add to the ashes before they start. To be clear: In the finished diamond there's not a single atom of your loved one's physical body. Big Think are really hurting their own reputation if they promote something like this. Is it worth it? Do some googling. It's a shame it's not real, otherwise I would do this when my parents pass. Also, it's expensive as hell: starting at $3000US and up to $10k.
@@Galifamackus If by "Google results supporting that creation of diamonds is possible" you mean the eterneva website, check their sources. I went over two of the papers they linked and in both cases they were making statements unsupported by their sources (lying).
So atoms of carbon are actually destroyed at 1500 Celsius? What constituen parts do they fall apart to? You mean that the electrons are ripped apart from the nucleus of carbon, or does it go further and the nucleus falls apart into quarks?

about the raise of the human trafficking i think youre wrong, because they are putting value in the meaning of ashes and the expensive manufacturing. i think almost every mammall ashes can make this same result, but no one will buy if has no meaning for them. they will probably expand this service to pets in the future. i dont live in usa and honestly, even the cremation is kinda expensive here so i wont even think about those gems made of ashes, its not viable for the most of people

People should pass away in the tradition they want to. If someone wants diamond to be made from his/her ashes, that's nothing wrong, but If no, then you only show disrespect to your ancestors.
I worry about over time when these diamonds start flooding pawn shops, or even estate sales where nobody realizes they just bought someone's remains for $20. I like the short term goal of this mission, but long term, not so much.
It's a waste of money not. Only do they charge you 300%. More. Then you could just buy a regular one karat diamond.for you can get 1ct diamond for 1000 they charge 20k for the same size All these people do is take advantage of people's grief.
