I have to go with Rick on this stuff. Why would the Pawn Shop get stuck with a rock. Sure, some of these precious rocks do have value. But I have to go with Rick. Its the cost of displaying this stuff, and finding another stiff willing to buy this stuff. Rick's Pawn Shop is there to flip products I believe fairly quickly. He isn't there to attend Rock symposiums and Collectors shows.
So Rick has to be able to buy stuff at a reasonable price, present it cheaply, and flip the sale.
It's the Seller coming up to Rick that has pretty much worn out his attempts of getting rid of rock from his home. Now he wants Rick to do his job that he didn't or couldn't do. Sell the rock.
Of course Rick needs a trained person to appraise a pretty much unknow item. He ain't a fool. Even still, why should Rick's Pawn Shop take on all this risk for a specialty item that might do years before someone happens to come along and wants to purchase this ROCK.

Pawn stores gotta make a profit too so when appraised they won’t really sell it at it’s appraised price because realistically that’s what they would get and are aiming for. Like say I give you a wallet worth 10k. You’d offer me something like 1-6k. Then sell it for full price of 10k and making a profit of 4k

the meteorite at the end of the vid is cut already. one can see the smooth surface where it was cut by the seller, in order to sell the pieces separately. Why did Rick pay so much for half the meteorite?
It wasnt even 50/50 .. the cut is for checking the inside of meteorites.. just like ppl who hunting for gems.. they cut stones to see whats inside.
