QUICK NOTE: I use old motorcycle gloves to protect from the heat from my custom RPW Brave header and its placement over the oil filler. You shouldn't have this issue if you're still running the stock Indian headers.
Look, sorry it isn’t exactly relevant. The only other bike I have is a fat boy, and I have to change the primary and transmission oil on it. I have searched the internet all day and can not find out if this is the case on the scout. I’m assuming it isn’t as I haven’t found anything but would like to confirm. Does this oil change cover all three? As in the scout uses 1 oil pan for all 3? It may seem like a stupid question, I actually am fairly mechanically inclined. Just don’t want to fuck up a new motorcycle for ignorance. I appreciate your response and once I see it I’ll delete this comment
@@MightyMo11B No need to delete, my man. Be proud of your willingness to learn. The Scout indeed uses a single pan for the engine and transmission in what's called a "Semi-dry sump" system in which both are segregated, but still use the same oil channeling.
BEST "How To" video out there...by far! Shows you every step and doesn't assume you have all this base knowledge. I just started taking care of my own bike I have searched everywhere trying to figure out what tool to use to take out the oil plugs. Those suckers are really tight! I can finally change my oil now and hit the road!! Thanks!
I was just as peeved as you and knew I could do better, so reading this made my night. Thanks so much, Lynne! I hope my other vids and the ones coming up soon are just as helpful/entertaining. :)
Its refreshing to find someone who isn't trying to bullsh*t around and just puts out solid information. That alone caused me to subscribe. Fantastic job!
Your following has not gone unnoticed, man! Much appreciated. I'd love to see that too, haha. It's getting warmer now, so the Samurai will be coming back, just not sure exactly when yet. Lots of planning to do.
Great video informative and thorough on the explanation of what you're doing. Just got me a 2016 with 2400 miles on it need all the information I can get thanks. The only thing that I didn't get out of this video was the setting on the torque wrench.
Excellent video and this one is better than all the others (including the one from Indian) How do I find out for sure if having my bike up on a lift to where it is standing straight up, if my oil level will read incorrect. I know it will show higher than if on kickstand. Planning on ordering lift this week and not sure if I will even be able to access the drain plugs. But the lift will make cleaning easier. This is my 10,000 mile change and I don't remember ever taking out the dipstick lol
I die a little inside every time I see that gorgeous bike unwashed. If I lived stateside I'd sneak into your yard and wash your bike for you when you are not looking. :P
hey brand new to motocycles, just for an 2018 Indian scout, mind showing me/us how to adjust the break paddle? maybe also the shift paddle, i have an idea on how to do it but not 100% sure
Oil flows much more freely, like water, when hot. Helps to get it all out the engine. It's important here because the Scout's oil is much heavier than most car oils.
Dude, I go to the gym and I still had a hard time with the oil filter, first change. I ended up Punching a screwdriver thru it and even then it took some beef to turn it. Worse I've ever seen.
If you want an accurate reading, you need to get the bike up to temp. Run it til the fan comes on. Also, you paid for 4 quarts, so use the full four quarts. It'll put the reading at just under the full line.
I just had to click this to find out what size bit I need for the drain plugs because it doesnt say this IN THE FUCKING OWNERS MANUAL. it has all this useless bullshit charts ill never look at though. it has some of that.

InvictvsNox thanks my dude!
I run the Shock pipes from RPW. Runs the headers in front of the clutch. Plus they look nice and sound mean as hell
This might be the most enjoyable how to oil change video I’ve ever seen.
This might be my most favorite comment.
Thank you! :)
Excellent guide. Just did my first oil change on my Rogue 🤙
Thanks for being the only oil change video that shows the oil level on the dip stick as a visual. All the others do not show this

Now that's what I call a no BS oil change. Excellent video: clear, concise and on point.
Thanks man, followed your video and the oil change was a a breeze. Really no BS.
You forgot about the most important step, rev the shit out of the bike to remind the neighbors you have a custom exhaust on a bad ass Indian.
And I agree about the horn bs. I just took mine off by laying on the right side of the bike.
Oh, I do that every morning anyway lol
Now that's what I'm talking about
I been watching you videos for almost year now.. They just keep on getting 🤙🏽.. I would love to see the Samurai make a cameo..

THANK YOU! A real NO BS video! I'm about to tackle changing my own oil now!
Thank YOU! Hope it goes well.
The best explicative video I found on UA-cam
Got a scout myself, luv the vids, keep em coming
Thank you!
Perfect ! straight to the point. Thanks for sharing
Hell yea bro straight to the point with great camera angles. Oh yea and no BS 🤟
Sweet video, straight to the point and friggin hilarious, well done dude
Perfect vid for preseason maintenance. 🇺🇸👍
I hope so!
@@InvictvsNox maybe coolant change next time you do a maintenance vid?
@@jonathannovak5961 I think Brake fluid will be next, but I definitely should do that too. Thanks man.
@@InvictvsNox yeah, can't forget scout is liquid cooled. Modern American engine you know.
Great job--to the point and no bullshit. I had to laugh out loud when you mentioned going to the gym.

Thanks!
Just changed mine… no bullshit my man. Good stuff! 🔥🦖

Thanks so much! And I'm honestly not sure, I never use a lift for what I do.
Do one for coolent bro
Thanks brother great detailed work
Great video bro. How much was the oil change kit?
It is around $85
Thanks for sharing. Glad I found your video 'cause I was about to try this myself and watching Indian Motor's own video left me confused...
You're joking right? It's an oil change
legit content, rock music in background stellar
Thanks for this video. It is the most informative one I've seen.
Thanks, Wayne! Much appreciated.

Haha, she's due very soon. Just wanted to get the oil out the way in case of any spillage.
What type of handlebars do you have on there
Awesome video, man!

How long should I soak the frog? Or is there a good distributor that will sell me one already pickled?
Until it croaks!
Do I need to take my bike to the dealer on my first 500 miles oil change? Thanks
Nice PlayStation hoodie. That's old school!
Thanks man! I'm all about the old school stuff. Catch me on Twitch every Tuesday and Friday night if you'd like!
Should I let the bike cool down a little before I start the oil change man? I know you said to warm it up, just don’t know how long I should wait
Just don't touch the pipes and you'll be fine.
Thanks for good video.
I will try to change oil my scout next time.
BTW, your sweat top is nice.
From Japan.
Thanks! I love your country's bikes and video games, haha.
This was super helpful!!!
Bro can i use another oil on my indian scout like the Liqui Moly or Motul 10W-60????
Thanks, bro!. Easy and quick. Bang Bang is Done on with life.
You should change your channel name to NO BS MAN😅 thanks for this video
Love the dust man, if ya spend ya life washing the beast that’s a life you miss out on riding her!!
Haha, ain't that the truth. Life's too short!
Diggin the soundtrack on this
I thought it worked great too. Thanks!
Next video should be how to wash your Indian Scout or how much dirt and grim can the Indian Scout hold?
😂 Everyone's talking about it. I wonder how much one CAN hold?
Why get it hot before you change?
Oil flows much more freely, like water, when hot.
Helps to get it all out the engine.
It's important here because the Scout's oil is much heavier than most car oils.
@@InvictvsNox I see. Thanks. So does it need to be "burn your knuckle on the muffler" hot, or just warm so the viscosity is lowered a little?
Will this work on a 03 scout
No, those are S&S motors of Harley design.
This is specifically for the Polaris Indian Scout models.
Good video dude.
Thanks!

Ah, a factory wrench weld job. Those are the worst, especially in that cramped space.
Glad you got it done, brother.

Great video !! U just saved me about 400 euros 💪
Happy to help, my friend.
While you're down there give it a clean! 😂😂😂
I gave her a spit shine, all good. 👌
Made it look easier than I did 😂😂
Only by a second. ;)
Your keys need a Lament Configuration keychain...
Like your vids. I have #71 Jack Daniels Bobber if you know anybody interested.
Bruh, second time I used your video to refresh wtf to do. Finished by 20k oil change and feel so much better about it the next time around, thank you!
That's what I love to hear! Nice Toriel avatar too!
InvictvsNox thank you! My go to 😂
Dude, thank you so fucking much 🎉...seriously
Hell yeah
I discovered running the bike with the plugs out helps the oil drain faster!
Awful lot of trouble to go through for not much time though lol
🤣 Great video though. Super straight forward and it helped me out 👍

If you can get the factory filter off by hand then you could beat Devon Larratt in an arm wrestling match
I didn't know who he was until now but I'll take the ticket. 💪
