I just have to say that your channel is one of THE BEST on UA-cam. I'm from the USA zone 6a and I'm learning so much from you guys! Thanks for all that you do, and thank you for your great insight!
I LOVE your videos! I am learning so much. In the first one I saw, I thought, "HOW do they have all these different species blooming at once?" I am learning. Keep doing this beautiful work!
Again, a fantastic video. Really enjoy learning as Lars is so confident about just moving, watering, collecting seeds, etc. His enthusiasm is contagious!
Thank you very much for this video. I am cleaning up my back garden and have no idea what I am going to do next. I am so lucky seeing this this afternoon. Perfect timing. Hoping you guys have a wonderful day. Take care. Crane 🥰❤️❤️❤️
We have had several days of torrential rain this week so it's been nice to sit down with a cup of coffee and watch your latest video. Your fern looks really nice and is a happy reminder of the person who gave it to you. I have a couple in my garden that just appeared and look lovely. I suppose they must like where their spores landed.
That's a good life lesson in there... be happy where you landed :) (And grow!) haha. Glad the weather has cleared up on your end. We've come thru heavy rains too... and now a beautiful Thursday.
Enjoyed watching your changes, and good to share that even beautiful gardens can be made even better. I do some rearranging every year and been at it since 1988 (western Canada, zone 4a).
That was interesting and helpful to see how you tackle rearranging an existing border, something I dread doing and usually wait way too long (like years) before I attempt it.
Definitely toadflax. I have a lots in my yard too, so tough and hardy, seems to grow just about anywhere, spreads readily but is easy to pull up and relocate if needed. Loved by pollinators and me too. Love your videos!
My Delphiniums are reblooming in my Z:6 garden is the USA. As soon as the original blooms are done I cut them down to about three inches. Reduce watering until new shoots appears, then start watering and fertilizing again. Works every time. Always enjoy your hands on approach and ideas.
Newly planted area is looking fantastic. I need to sort my white garden out. I was thrilled with it last year- best bed in the garden, but this year everything has outgrown its' space and it is looking rather a mess! Happy gardening, guys 🙂
We know that feeling! The good thing is that most perennials love to be divided... we've got that job on our to-do list once things stop flowering here in a few weeks :)
I’m excited to go out and transplant a few things today when we start our day in the 50s. We’re still hot so this is a relief. You guys have the best ideas 😊
Love your videos ....learning a great deal along the way. Your choice of plants is fabulous, my garden will certainly look better next year with your inspiration!
I am sooo excited that you are in approximately Zone 8A - same as I am in eastern NC! I’m amazed that you can grow Delphinium! I have tried and failed numerous times!
I love your videos so much!!! I’m creating a perennial garden in Australia as we speak and you’ve given me so much inspo ❤ would love to see a video on how you feed a garden of this size?
Happy spring to you! Great question... we fertilize once a year (early spring) with organic chicken manure. We also add compost (we make compost in our little bin) and sprinkle that around when the bin gets too full (usually 2x a year). Otherwise, Denmark is very wet and we grow perennials... so we don't have to water much (if at all) during the summer. I hope that helps! We also don't give our hydrangeas (for example) anything special. We should I guess... but everything gets the same chicken manure and has to do the best they can with that. haha
« And this one’s gotta go » hehe, what a fun video. I always wondered how you make your garden look so amazing yet natural. It still is a lot of design and thinking!
What is your watering routine like? I am fining my self having too many garden beds to “want” to water when the summer has been so long. I need some ideas for drought tolerant beds because I get lazy in late summer 😬
We don't water anything but our pots and hanging window boxes... the joy and curse of living in Denmark. haha. It hasn't rained in about 2 weeks (then we filmed this video) and it's rained since that night. Sigh.
@@perennial-gardenI am in western Oregon so most of the time it’s raining as well and I love it! Although The last several years the summers have been so dry. We are finally coming out of a drought and I can’t wait for a rainy fall 🙌🏻
Hi Plenty to learn from your rearranged bed. I have a couple of liriope plants and only manage to get one bloom per year. What am I doing wrong please? Enjoy the coffee 💯💞☕☕
Hi ! Can't wait to see how it will develop in spring/summer :) One question: he wanted to collect thalictrum seeds but it seems 99% was still in flower....did he cut the thalictrum back or left the flowers on so that they can go to seed ? Also interesting to see that there's a groundcover cornus ! Love the foliage and flowers of cornuses ^^
That one has already gone to seed... while not totally 'ripe' yet, there are a few brown ones that we can collect from it :) It was so pretty in flower... I think you can see it in one of our earlier garden tours.
Really interesting video to watch. I have aster divericatus, very pretty, but it does get big quite quickly (but easy to divide). It is quite tall, and the aruncus will be even taller, 1m tall, so might need shifting?. But you obviously enjoy doing that!
Thank you for taking the time to show us how to clean and move things in the garden. I have a question. I have a sage ( I don't know which one is). it has chartreuses leaves and small and dark blue-violet flowers. ( growing sideways). It grew erect and tall about 1.5 meters. I cannot see /find the seeds... is it sedless not sure but I tried to capture the seeds so I can have more of this sage and could not find any in the spent flowers.. Alternatively I am thinking to dig it and since there are three or four branches maybe to divide them,. The sage is still in bloom. Shall I wait until the flowers are over and shall I try to divide it ?
It sounds like you have a beautiful Salvia guaranitica (probably the 'Golden Delicious' variety with those chartreuse leaves and deep blue-violet flowers). These plants can be a bit tricky when it comes to seed production. Some of them are actually sterile, so if you’re not finding any seeds in the spent flowers, that might be why. As for dividing the plant, that's a great idea! I’d suggest waiting until the flowers have finished blooming. Once they’re done, you can carefully dig up the plant and look for natural divisions where the branches meet. Gently separate the plant into smaller sections, making sure each piece has some good roots and at least one stem. Then, just replant each division in your garden and water them well. They should settle in nicely, and you'll have even more of that gorgeous sage next season.
I really love your videos. As I get older I really want everything to be perennials or self- seeders! Could you please make your captions, that name your plants, darker. I guess my eyes are getting older, too, and I find them difficult to read. Thanks!
I was looking at my local seed company and I came across a tender perennial Eucalyptus bush (that can be a tree) that looks just like yours!! It's called Eucalyptus Lemon bush....does it smell like lemons??
Altering the borders as time goes on to improve them is one of the joys of gardening. It's never a completed picture. Thanks for sharing guys. 💚🙏😊
Always work to do :) Thankfully, the rain stopped so we could do it :)
