GRID is still one of my favorite racers and still holds up today IMO. It's a little short on cars but not style, and its just the right balance of sim and fun.
Went to the pawn shop today.. saw this game, googled about it.. after liking NFS but my dad and my habits got to see real performance street racing in the 80s. This game honestly is the perfect part of Forza series and the ability to still perform without crashing affecting
I saw Slovakia flag at 6:21 ...awesome, love this review and whole CGRHD reviews...all of 'em are funny and entertaining...and love your dog Stella...she rocks the house!
I'm just wondering whats better for drifting this or Forza 3? I have Forza 3 and I'm pretty good at drifting in it but I herd drifting is pretty sick in this... Also can you customize cars?
and something else, im surprised at this guys review. I saw a couple more and I really am surprised. Well done. I have never seen a less biased and more open reviewing which focuses at the same time at personal opinion. well done. what surprises me even more is that on all reviews so far it's like listening to myself speak!?! wtf??? that makes me feel good cause this is like a smack to some people and users that always feel as though they need to argue their point to me. :P Again, great job!
You are absolutely right Ryuuken. I play on normal and the game isn't hard, what difficulty do you guys play? On normal with manual shifting I come in first every time... I gotta buy the Logitech G25 racing wheel to learn how to drive to
Does this game have classic muscle cars like from the 60's and 70's? It isn't a huge deal ether way, but I love to drive those kind of cars when I can. Too bad I will have to wait a little while to get this, I'm waiting for the PS3 to drop below $200 since I can't bring myself to spend more on a video game system. I wish I could get lucky again like I did with my PS2, I bought it used only a year after it came out for only $120, came with a bunch of games too!
my all time favourite racing game I recently started playing this again whilst waiting for red dead redemption 2 I'd like to see a grid 4 for ps4 xb1 and PC this felt so much smoother than forza for its time plus I love the choices of racing you get from street to touring drift touge if that's how its spelt even open wheel
Excellent game, excellent review. It's a bit tougher than Shift set on Hard mode. You'll need to redo many many tracks to take 1st place. Which is great. Awesome graphics, great fun. I'm bruasGT online.
@kevster3000 have u played project gotham racing 4? i cant decide wich one to buy even tough they are only 6 and 7 euros xD but i wouldnt prob play both of them :S
Is it me or was the sixth generation of console's (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii) far better then the current seventh generation. No new Dead Space, no new Bioshock, no new Grid.
both games are fine. Grid 2's graphics were a massive step up despite being in the same generation of console games. But overall Grid 1 has been my favorite in the entire series minus Autosport which I just haven't played yet. Sponsorships, buying car, money, managing a team, etc. the first grid game was way more ambitious than any of its successors
Codemasters are doing the Next Formula 1 Game, with the Physics of GRID and DiRT. IMO, the Next 4 Letter Word Game they should come out with next would be FAST. Dont Forget, Codemasters also did ToCA Race Driver 1 through 3. I recommend you review those too. 2 and 3 are on the PS2.
Great review. I have Forza and GT but this is my favorite. You said what I've been telling people all along about this game having a great sense of speed. Also provides the closest, tightest and truest door to door racing. GT5 doesn't provide that for me. I'd rather be racing than collecting cars. Anyway, they stopped supporting multiplayer for reasons unknown to me. Most fun I've had in a racing game ever...but like you put it, thats just my opinion.
I LOVE YOUR reviews ... SO funny ... hahah :)) keep up the good work !! GRID is GOOD i mean maybe the BEST of his time..love it ...have it on PC..and true its HARD.
I got this game after starting to like DiRT 2...It's awesome just like DiRT 2! And cool you only do races in cockpit view too..I do as well! This company makes great racing games, will be picking up the first DiRT soon as I hear that one has more rally races which for me are the best and most fun races in DiRT 2.
So I kinda have a problem with the game. I was away for a while and when I got back and tryed to play GRID it wouldn't start. The DVD was in I hit start button but nothing. I deleted the game and reinstaled it. Still nothing. What do you advice me?
Yeah, I use the wheel with GRID. Had to tweak a few settings - now it`s awesome! Setting linearity on 8 really did the trick. Much less twitchy now. All Force Feedback settings on 70%. I only use ABS and turn off all other driving assists. GREAT game.
I found this on Wikipedia: "Codemasters revealed that a sequel to GRID is in development. It will be using the EGO 2.0 engine. No other news on the date or new features have been released yet." There will be GRID 2! Thumbs up so everyone can see!
can someone help me Wich game should I buy GRID or Dirt 2? I'm more to GRID, because I'm tired of rally games, I have like 20 of them but this game looks really hard, and I suck at videogames...
I really enjoyed playing this. I didn't even care when I was loosing becouse I just had so much fun smashing up the cars. I as specially liked smashing other peoples cars into the wall. I loved how if one weal was broken the car would lean to one side and how when the engine was damaged you could hear it chugging along. I had a lot of fun trashing those cars. ^_^
Your commentary at 1:38 - 1:56 about Codemasters mad me crack up. I love your reviews. Much better than IGN, Gamespot and so-on. If I could have given it a Five stars I would have but all my options are Like and Dis-like. I gave you a like and I subbed. 5:28 haha UPS trucks.
Is that a slovenian flag on 6:23. I live in slovenia... i probably mentioned in some comment that i posted before. Anyway, good reviews. I always like them because of style (comedy).
Please Answer this: From #1-15 tell me what's the best racing game in order GRID Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit NFS: Shift NFS: Shift 2 Gran Turismo 5 DiRT DiRT 2 DiRT 3 Split Second Project Gotham Racing 4 Forza Motorsport 4 Burnout Paradise F1: 2010 F1: 2011 Nascar 2011 (No Joke) If there are any other ones tell me
codemasters did a good job on this game. im a big fan ever since this game came out. i have dirt aswell, another awsome game. cant wait to have their new title, fuel.
@darkbyke nope u can change the view, but a cockpit view is a challenge that you can take when you are playing each race and you get more points when you win with cockpit view.
i wish i could drive as well as you do, tried both the controller and the wireless racing wheel and both got me totally frustrated as there was no way that i could get the car to move without spinning and hitting ( even at the early stage with the compact car ).
Lol, I felt proud just because most part in the game was largely done in our Malaysian studio with the collaboration of our main office in the UK. This is a first for Malaysia as there has never been a next generation console game done here, neither has any triple A level game been produced here before (by the same company that released it).
@Dreamcube017 I have this game for PC and agree the handling is very challenging. Watching this vid makes me wonder if the Xbox version is waaaay more arcade style--because I cannot consistently corner that well in the PC version at those speeds.
Yeah, the level of difficulty on this game is so much higher than Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. I may say I kind of completed the GT5 Prologue by getting to the F1 car. So, I am not a complete newbie to driving games. But this game, man! It's hard. I tried the LeMans course. And it's great. The sounds of the Lamborghini engine and Porsche are gread. The only problem is the sound effects are much louder than the engine. I don't like that. Other than that it's great! Nighte time racing, too!
Depends. DiRT 2 was really fun, but they tried to make it all X Games style and didn't have a lot of normal rally racing, and instead focused on rallycross and the big Baja trucks and stuff.
I love it,specially with a good racing wheel.I use to play it on pc,very similar to 360 or ps3,in fact I think there are not any relevant differences between versions.
i like when you bump into your teammate and he says: "sorry for that" in this game, it's your teammate's fault, not yours, and it makes you feel good...
I love this game. The AI isn't afraid of a dent or scratch. You push people off the road - they push back. With graphics that look great(even after four years), smooth framerates(230FPS on a mid-end PC!), decent controls, and great racing experience... They'd better not fuck GRID 2 up like they did with DiRT 3.
Yes it's available on PC. It seems like every video game reviewer on youtube always omits PC availability for games. Whether it's Mark or someone else. Too bad most people don't think of gaming in terms of PS3/360 & PC...usually just consoles they concentrate on. Sorry for the extended answer and yeah, it's pretty good.
Grid, for me. Forza feels like a very clean experience, in terms of handling; in Grid, the cars are twitchy, and it's that much more involving. They're both very different games, mind - Grid should be bargain now, so there's no reason for not having both! Hard to explain until you try - both PSN and XBL should have demos to give you a flavour.
this game look great on paper but i remember it being way too tedious to play and progress through. you could play for hours and not move away from the same two tracks (DIRT was similar in this regard too). plus the physics and driving assists were difficult to tweak and tended to react randomly. i dont mind a challenge but this was too frustrating. the game seemed to somehow combine only the worst aspects of simulation and arcade. contrast that with NFS Pro Street for example.

one of the best racers ever, highly underrated
Bring back Classic Game Room!
Nothing can still beat the rush you can get from this game. Not even DRIVE CLUB.
This vid was my first review vid that got me into Classic Game Room. just thought I'd visit this again for 'old' times... XD
Man I miss this channel I hope they are doing well in their new endeavors this channel used to be great
I saw Slovakia flag at 6:21 ...awesome, love this review and whole CGRHD reviews...all of 'em are funny and entertaining...and love your dog Stella...she rocks the house!
The game graphics and the steering of each car make this game unique tbh.
I saw you master those derby cars so well :o
I cant handle those yet :D
How is the online gameplay? Do you race other cars at the same time, or only try to beat times?
@theSman11 i seen that steam sell that game
its work on computer or its just on PS3 or Xbox 360?
P.s : srry about my bad english :)
I'm just wondering whats better for drifting this or Forza 3? I have Forza 3 and I'm pretty good at drifting in it but I herd drifting is pretty sick in this... Also can you customize cars?
Cool, my Wheel is coming tomw with the Game (GRID)... :) hope i dont have to change the settings, btw whats ABS for?
I knew there'd be a review on this after you did the Dirt review, I really love this game.
and something else, im surprised at this guys review.
Again, great job!
its one of those games where the 1st game is 10 times better than its sequals
Disagreee, Grid 2 ftw
Koweden Grid 2 is my least favorite of the series
So the first Toca Touring Cars game is better than this?
You are absolutely right Ryuuken. I play on normal and the game isn't hard, what difficulty do you guys play? On normal with manual shifting I come in first every time... I gotta buy the Logitech G25 racing wheel to learn how to drive to

Free on Humble store currently :)
Excellent game, excellent review.
It's a bit tougher than Shift set on Hard mode. You'll need to redo many many tracks to take 1st place. Which is great. Awesome graphics, great fun.
I'm bruasGT online.
Grid and dirt are my favorite racing games of all time 😁
@kevster3000 have u played project gotham racing 4? i cant decide wich one to buy even tough they are only 6 and 7 euros xD but i wouldnt prob play both of them :S
Are there still many ppl online on the PS3 vers of Grid?
Is there trophy support for this game on the PS3. Yes i know Mark is playing this on the 360.
Is it me or was the sixth generation of console's (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii) far better then the current seventh generation. No new Dead Space, no new Bioshock, no new Grid.
II DIRECTx II yes
theres a new grid now but yea this gen has been boring. even some good games coulda been even better.
I have been waiting FOREVER for this game to be reviewed, LOVE IT :D:D
feel old yet?
Just got Grid 2 for free on gold. Is Grid still worth getting?
Ibram Gaunt yes
Mein kampf grid 2 sucks but grid is awesome
I had a blast with Grid 2. The handling in Grid 1 is fucked up if you're on a controller.
both games are fine. Grid 2's graphics were a massive step up despite being in the same generation of console games. But overall Grid 1 has been my favorite in the entire series minus Autosport which I just haven't played yet. i love all your SEGA reviews... Have you ever thought of getting a Game Gear or maybe even a Sega Pico?

hey mark did u play this with the playseat
I LOVE YOUR reviews ... SO funny ... hahah :)) keep up the good work !! GRID is GOOD i mean maybe the BEST of his time..love it ...have it on PC..and true its HARD.
I LOVE THE LITTLE FORMULA CARS AT 6:05
I got this game after starting to like DiRT 2...It's awesome just like DiRT 2! And cool you only do races in cockpit view too..I do as well! This company makes great racing games, will be picking up the first DiRT soon as I hear that one has more rally races which for me are the best and most fun races in DiRT 2.
there's no way this vid is 7 years old
10 years old now
There's no way this vid is over 11 years old
Gonna be 12 in a month.
your comment is 7 years old now boomer
@@honchoryanc noo. Noooo. It's still says six! I STILL HAVE TIME!
Hope the sequel has more demolition derby in it, the pace and general fun in that was the best fun I have had in racing games in a long time.
Grid is criminally underrated
So I kinda have a problem with the game. I was away for a while and when I got back and tryed to play GRID it wouldn't start. The DVD was in I hit start button but nothing. I deleted the game and reinstaled it. Still nothing. What do you advice me?

I'm more to GRID, because I'm tired of rally games, I have like 20 of them

Are the multiplayer servers still up for this game on consoles?
I wish they are :/
No
Why no mention of the time control feature? It's the most distinctive thing about the game.
Looks relatively bright to me, the shadows seemed a bit dark, and so did the cockpit, but other than that you could see pretty well.
Before I buy this game, am I stuck in only single person cockpit view??? I hate that view with a passion.
In fairness, alot of Classic Game Room's older reviews were alot calmer and casual like this one. His new reviews only have small periods of silence.
Anyone come here after they announced the grid reboot?
Is that a slovenian flag on 6:23. I live in slovenia... i probably mentioned in some comment that i posted before. Anyway, good reviews. I always like them because of style (comedy).
Please Answer this:
From #1-15 tell me what's the best racing game in order
GRID
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
NFS: Shift
NFS: Shift 2
Gran Turismo 5
DiRT
DiRT 2
DiRT 3
Split Second
Project Gotham Racing 4
Forza Motorsport 4
Burnout Paradise
F1: 2010
F1: 2011
Nascar 2011 (No Joke)
If there are any other ones tell me
@gamer3386 can u help me out. which is better/what are the major differences about nfs shift 2 and grid?
@acenace24 Shouldn't that be Codemasters>Polyphony Digital? ;)
Is GRID available for PC?
Is it good?
codemasters did a good job on this game. im a big fan ever since this game came out. i have dirt aswell, another awsome game. cant wait to have their new title, fuel.
@darkbyke nope u can change the view, but a cockpit view is a challenge that you can take when you are playing each race and you get more points when you win with cockpit view.
pretty cool but honestly the steering wheel moves like if it was beyond loose and about to get off and where is the mechanical damage?
i wish i could drive as well as you do, tried both the controller and the wireless racing wheel and both got me totally frustrated as there was no way that i could get the car to move without spinning and hitting ( even at the early stage with the compact car ).
hmm... should i get this or DiRT 2?
should i buy grid or need for speed shift?
cool review ill get the game as soon as i can

This is a first for Malaysia as there has never been a next generation console game done here, neither has any triple A level game been produced here before (by the same company that released it).
Jokes on you they made a two letter game.F1
Sort of
***** That's one letter! lol
@Dreamcube017 I have this game for PC and agree the handling is very challenging. Watching this vid makes me wonder if the Xbox version is waaaay more arcade style--because I cannot consistently corner that well in the PC version at those speeds.
one good thing about advertisements is they let the video load so no more annoying buffering
Yay! Nathan Mckane is back! :D
But what about Ryan?
Yeah, the level of difficulty on this game is so much higher than Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. I may say I kind of completed the GT5 Prologue by getting to the F1 car. seriously man i would love to have a job reviewing classic video games
this game is lots of fun when u connect ur console to ur soround sound
Got this today at a cheap price and it's superb! I use the crappy mad catz wheel/pedals and it works almost flawlessly. Glad I bought this one!
Graphically this game still holds up well
well, from the comments, i'm going to pick this game up while it's on sale. should i get dirt 2 aswell? kinda disappointed in dirt 3.
Depends. DiRT 2 was really fun, but they tried to make it all X Games style and didn't have a lot of normal rally racing, and instead focused on rallycross and the big Baja trucks and stuff.
Now this is my kind of racing game. Not too sim, and not too arcadey.
How about the title of "Race"... borrowed from one of the Sears Telegames titles ?
is the car at 1:23-1:34 a Spyker? dam, I want this game!!
Great review! but your voice sounds a bit like Microsoft Sam
Dude ! I was thinking that, its one of the most essencial things about this game.
Hey guys, im going to buy GRID and i have a question: are there still multiplayer games? Are there still gamers in this "old" game?
No
this game is on sale for 6euros for xbox :O ive been thinking of buying some racing game i might get this one? :D
"I like what I'm seein' you're in first place.." *totally jinxes it and I crash into a wall and as all the other cars pass me*
I use the Logitech G25 - it's great, but I had to fiddle around with the wheel settings to get it to work right.
@Sharkey3331 Well its called the weekly deal and its to thursday, not tuesday
Yes, It is for PC. And its great, Just make sure you have a high-end PC, or expect choppy gameplay.
I love it,specially with a good racing wheel.I use to play it on pc,very similar to 360 or ps3,in fact I think there are not any relevant differences between versions.
forza or this ? which is a more raw drifter?
i like when you bump into your teammate and he says: "sorry for that" in this game, it's your teammate's fault, not yours, and it makes you feel good...

I'm still playing this game
WHEN IS GRID 2 COMING?
Grid, for me. Forza feels like a very clean experience, in terms of handling; in Grid, the cars are twitchy, and it's that much more involving. They're both very different games, mind - Grid should be bargain now, so there's no reason for not having both!
Hard to explain until you try - both PSN and XBL should have demos to give you a flavour.
Is the online community still active...... I want to buy this to play Online! :D
RUNNING THROUGH THE DESERT WITH UPS TRUCKS that's great.
Damn Mark, if not a game-reviewer, you should've been a racecar-driver.
this game look great on paper but i remember it being way too tedious to play and progress through. you could play for hours and not move away from the same two tracks (DIRT was similar in this regard too). plus the physics and driving assists were difficult to tweak and tended to react randomly.
i dont mind a challenge but this was too frustrating. the game seemed to somehow combine only the worst aspects of simulation and arcade. contrast that with NFS Pro Street for example.
GRiD is the best racing game I've ever seen!
at 4:30, did tht car spin out all by its self!? nice!
Yes, it does. Its awesome aswell
