He may very well have been trespassing and he by no means was being called a liar. Do people seriously have such a small understanding of how the police work that they think the officer was trying to call him a liar? No. The officer was simply saying that he cannot, by law, completely believe Daniel's story without gathering more supporting evidence first. After which, he was then going to go on to explain what the police were going to do next in order to gather said supporting evidence, like asking him for his video footage and getting experts to test the ground for remains of the explosion.
Daniel just super overreacted and if you pay any attention, you'll notice that the officer didn't once step out of line, raise his voice or even try to argue with him. He was staying calm and trying to keep the situation under control. Professional performance, if you ask me.

When I was in Army basic training, WAY back in early 1979, we had practice grenades that were basically a steel ball the size of a baseball. They had two holes opposing each other, one was threaded. The instructors had a flat box with these practice fuses that would screw into the "baseball". Trainees would pull the pin and let the handle fly off and 5 seconds later the fuse would explode, shooting a bit of fire out of the hole opposite of where the fuse screwed in. The instructors would then remove what was left of the old fuse, put in a new one and the games continued. Those fuses for the practice grenades looked EXACTLY like what Danny had.
Funny thing is that there wasn't even a "grenade" just the trigger, nothing else.

*me seeing all the metal and spikes he’s pulling out of the water*
And this is why you don’t swim in water that you can’t see through without protection
Even if you can see through the water you should always wear foot protection. There's a reason swimming pools don't allow glass in the swimming pools. The water is clear, but glass can be invisible in the water and cause some major damage.
Keinlieb VERY good point.
I swim in all sorts of waterways that I can't see through and have done so all my life. I am almost 50 years old. Most ever happened to me was I cut my foot on some glass at a beach once and cut my leg on a nail on the side of a pier that I was attempting to climb out of the water at. I am more concerned over using protection with the women I date than I am about where I am swimming. So just because you can't see through the water doesn't necessarily make it a bad thing. I have even bumped into a few gators and a couple of snakes while swimming but it ended on the good side. Life is what you make it. I at least keep mine fun and interesting.
wpeale71341 😂. I’m so glad you decided to share; although, this felt like you were ranting to me for a better portion of your comment about not keeping my life “fun and interesting” (for suggesting foot protection 😂) until I got to your flippant use of sleeping with women and using protection during sex as an example. Which, by the way, still laughing about. I really didn’t need to know that, but super funny either way.
If people want to wear water shoes when they get in rivers or lakes, that’s perfectly fine and a good idea. Just because an almost 50 year old macho man living his good life (you sound like my father and honestly that made my day 😂) hasn’t gotten hurt too badly doesn’t diminish the need or concern for proper footwear. My uncle lost a toe to a jagged piece of rock in a river by their house early in his childhood. Step on one of those rusted pieces of metal and you could get an infection or worse. I’m not discrediting your own life story, but everyone’s is different. Thanks for your input though. Reminded me that I needed to call my dad and see how he’s doing in Florida. Maybe he’s run across some gators too.

it's a spoon, and primer charge. Dunno why he did know what it was.
Would you expect to find a grenade in a random creek
I figured he was a clerk or something but good point he should have known that from basic
its a fucking training grenade
I deal with those in the Marine Corps. It’s a Department of Defense Identification Code (DODIC G878). Its basically a fuse to a practice grenade blue body. It normally has a blue grenade that it screws into and when the spoon is pulled it makes a small pop. Not really a bomb but you are correct it could have hurt your hand, good job for dropping it could have been bad. It was probably from some reserve unit around those parts and some one chucked it in the water. Happens more times than I’d like to say.
As an ammunition logistician for the Navy, Marine Corps, this rings home because we account for ammunition based on what is brought back or counted on the range. It's too easy to pocket things like this and then walk away. Somebody probably thought it was a cool thing to keep, and the n realized they could get in a helluva lot of trouble and chunked it off the bridge to get rid of it. Not sure where the serial number is on this item, but it can be traced easily through ROLMS or OIS to see what unit owned it, if the serial number is still intact.
Rick Thorp Possibly if the lot could be read but those are not serialized. So it would be a little hard to identify the unit and even harder if multiple units were issued it in the past near there. O well.
Why the hell arent you getting more likes?!

Did anyone else cringe when he pulled the fuse assembly off the magnet and it clicked?
I sure as hell did. Anyway, its painted blue so it's a dummy fuse.

even practice grenades can take fingers or a hand off.

Cops like him are the problem. Love your channel. Regardless of his rudeness and lack of caring you did the right thing.
Seems like it's a bad idea to call the police if an explosive is found.
It's a stupid idea to call the cops when you find a grenade fuse that is no longer a threat and was not a threat to begin with. There is not a damn thing they can do about it. They are not going to dredge the creek just because some guy found part of a grenade. Now if you found an entire cache of weapons in a lockbox, or a whole case of grenades, or a gun or anything that might have been used in a cold case crime, now that would be a different story.
depends on the explosive, if its still capable of harming someone, then you call the police. if you find an old rusty grenade while magnet fishing, then its useless to inform authorities.
@@MrWolfSnack+ you can buy inactivated grenades for like $10 or less all over the place.... No point in calling the police unless he found a complete live grenade

OK so I work on a military base and my duties bring me into contact with UXO and EOD fairly regularly. Turns out that the civilian cops don't deal with UXO and call the military for this stuff; the EOD folks have regional responsibilities. It's best to call regional EOD and let them report to local cops rather than call local cops and have them call regional EOD. That way you will deal with paperwork only and not cop attitude.
is there a certain number that one would have to call to be able to get a regional EOD or can you just call 911 and request for a regional EOD to deal with the case?
@@neil2051 That's a really good question. I know how it works where I am, so your mileage may vary. Here, when you call in anything dealing with explosives not inside the jurisdiction of a city bomb squad, it will be the regional EOD who is called by the local dispatch. Due to the nature of my job, I can call EOD directly if I nee to, but that skips some paperwork I'd probably have to catch up on later, so I just let dispatch handle the call. I don't know anything at all about how city bomb squads operate but I suspect that they are very much the same as military EOD teams.
@@neil2051 To clarify: I call the same call center as you would when calling 911, only I don't ask for LEO but rather EOD. I let Dispatch handle calling EOD, and let EOD handle contacting LEO. That way I make one call and get back to work as soon as it is safe to do so.
